The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General YD. Ahmed, visited the 2024 Batch B Stream 1 Corps Members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, Osun State, on Friday. He emphasized the importance of leadership, discipline and community engagement. General Ahmed congratulated the Corps Members on their academic accomplishments and successful enrollment in the NYSC program. He underscored the important role of the Orientation Camp in instilling a sense of patriotism and urged Corps Members to actively contribute to national development. The Director General encouraged the Corps Members to embrace the regimented camp life, which prepares them for future leadership roles. He cautioned against sharing offensive camp activities on social media stressing its potential to misrepresent the NYSC. He also stressed the importance of focusing on their primary assignments upon deployment. He also urged them to adhere strictly to all camp rules and regulations. Furthermore, the Director General advised Corps Members to remain disciplined, respect each other's opinions, and integrate despite their diversity. He shared his personal experience as a former Corps Member in Osun State, emphasizing the enriching nature of the service year and the value of embracing local cultures and traditions. He encouraged them to accept their Place of Primary Assignment without requesting relocation and also inspired the Members to identify their goals and take advantage of the lectures and SAED (Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development) training, to become financially independent. Brigadier General Ahmed emphasized the importance of personal security, warning against late-night movements and urging Corps Members to prioritize their safety. He reiterated the NYSC Scheme's dedication to the safety of all Corps Members and emphasized the need for cleanliness, especially during the cholera pandemic. He also stressed adherence to the dress code at all times. In conclusion, the Director General donated four cows and one hundred cartons of Maltina to the Corps Members. He commended the camp's cleanliness and the Corps Members' comportment, urging them to maintain the momentum and adapt to the regimented Orientation. The National Youth Service Corps Osun State has today participated in the NYSC Nationwide sanitation exercise marking the significant role of the Scheme in Community Development. The Nationwide exercise which was flagged off by the State Coordinator, Mr Agbor Ndoma Obim took place at the Igbona market, Osogbo. The State Coordinator ably represented by Mrs Fatima Taiwo, the Assistant Director Community Development Service, noted that the exercise was a directive of the Director General YD Ahmed. Agbor stated that the national sanitation was embarked upon to augment government's efforts in healthcare interventions and prevention of environmental degradation and epidermics. According to him, the sanitation is a part of the Scheme's cooperate social responsibility geared towards ensuring a clean and safe environment for all. He added that the event was taking place simultaneously across the four zones of the State, namely: Ikirun, Ilesa, Ife and Osogbo. The Zonal Inspector Osogbo Zone, Mrs. Kehinde Salawu who delivered the welcome address acknowledged and appreciated the NYSC officials and the market head present at the event. She stressed the nationwide significance of the initiative while commending Corps Members for their proactive response. The Iya Oloja of the market, Chief Mrs Oropo Olayiwola Abibat likewise spoke on the importance of cleanliness. Emphasizing the importance of cleanliness, she urged all present to prioritize their health and well-being and appreciated the NYSC officials present. She also acknowledged the traders in the market and called for a higher standard of cleanliness, especially as the rainy season approaches. A Corps Member, Scientist Bakare Omotola Vivian, in her health talk delivery, emphasized the importance of cleanliness in food preparation, personal care and the surroundings. She implored the market women and other participants to maintain a high standard of cleanliness so as to enjoy good health. The exercise themed: "A Cleaner Environment for a Healthy Nation" was officially flagged off as Mrs Fatimah Taiwo alongside the team of NYSC officials took the lead in sweeping the market venue. The programme took its full course as Corps Members eagerly took up the task of cleaning the Market. The Corps Members who were dispatched to all angles of the market both sweeping and clearing the drainages were also sighted gyrating to the musical performances by the band. Present at the event were staff of the NYSC Scheme, officers from the Social department Olorunda LGA; Water and Environmental Sanitation (WES) Agency, Sanitarian Ajayi Abayomi Oluwole, Sanitarian Kolawole Sunday Johnson, and Sanitarian Adewuyi Daniel Olamide. Security agencies were also on ground to ensure the smooth execution of the programme. The event remarkably marked the significant role of the Scheme in nation-building as the Corps Members showcased a high level of commitment to this act of national service. The programme left the market traders elated as they danced and prayed for the Corps Members. |

Represented by the Secretary of the State Governor, Honorable Teslim Igbalaye, Governor Adeleke extended heartfelt congratulations to the Corps Members embarking on their one-year mandatory service in Osun State, as well as those dislodged from Lagos for the regimented three-week Orientation Programme. In his address, Governor Adeleke commended the NYSC Scheme for its unwavering commitment to fostering national unity and understanding among youths from diverse ethnic backgrounds. He acknowledged the prevailing economic challenges in the country and praised the NYSC for its innovative solutions, citing the program as a beacon of hope. Emphasizing the significance of the NYSC program in fostering self-discovery and personal growth, Governor Adeleke urged Corps Members to fully immerse themselves in every phase of their service year, from orientation to completion. Assuring the safety and welfare of Corps Members throughout their service year, Governor Adeleke affirmed his administration's dedication to supporting and protecting them during their stay in the State. Providing insights into the camp's statistics, Mr. Agbor said 1151 are Osun Corps members and 823 were dislodged from Lagos. He praised the camp clinic's standards and highlighted guest visits, including the Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, and the Chairman NYSC State Governing Board, Hon. Olagunju Moshood Olalekan, among others. Mr. Agbor commended the Corps Members for their active participation in camp activities, and their obedience and dedication to maintaining a clean environment. He apprised the Ag. Director of the new hostel which has just been completed stating that the hostel will be commissioned for use. In a gesture of appreciation, Mr. Aroni presented a token to the Corps Members, recognizing their efforts and commitment. The gesture was met with gratitude from the Corps Members themselves. During a meeting with the camp staff, Mr. Aroni stressed the importance of NYSC's continued existence. He urged staff to channel grievances appropriately, discouraging the spread of rumors that could undermine the integrity of the NYSC Scheme. NYSC Osun State officially commenced its orientation program by opening the doors of the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede to the over 2000 Prospective Corps Members deployed to Osun State and those dislodged from Lagos State. The enthusiastic PCMs were warmly greeted by a dedicated team of camp officials all of whom have worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth execution of camp activities. Platoon inspectors and a committed team of camp officials have diligently orchestrated a registration process that stands out for its remarkable efficiency and seamlessness. This meticulous planning ensures that Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) encounter no hindrances or delays as they embark on this crucial phase of their journey into the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program. The collective efforts of these professionals extend beyond administrative support, as they have created a welcoming and supportive atmosphere that eases the transition of PCMs into the camp environment. They offer guidance, address queries, and promptly resolve any issues that may arise during the registration process, fostering a sense of assurance and confidence among the PCMs. In anticipation of the Swearing-in and Official Opening Ceremony scheduled for November 7, 2023, military officers have already begun rehearsals, setting the stage for an inspiring start to the NYSC journey for these Prospective Corps Members in Osun State.

Brigadier General Ahmed expressed gratitude to NYSC stakeholders and stressed the need to evaluate the relationship between custodians of Corps Members and the operators of the scheme. The Director General who was represented by the Deputy Director Corps Development NYSC Southwest Area, Mr Ella Aji Williams, candidly acknowledged the challenges confronting Corps Members, including financial support, security threats, and illicit Employer-Corps Member arrangements. He called on participants to enhance Corps Members' contributions to national development, emphasizing their shared responsibility in rekindling the historical duties of the NYSC. Brigadier General Ahmed urged open discussions to address these issues and provide constructive suggestions for improving the welfare, security, and overall productivity of Corps Members. Honourable Commissioner for Youth Affairs and Chairman NYSC State Governing Board, Hon. Olagunju Moshood Olalekan, while flagging off the workshop themed "Optimizing the Productivity of Corps Members Through Enhanced Welfare and Security During the Service Year," underlined the workshop's significance as a platform for collaboration among the NYSC and other stakeholders. The event attracted several dignitaries and featured a vibrant performance by the NYSC cultural troupe. Earlier, Mr. Agbor Udoma Obim, the State Coordinator, stressed the importance of synergy between Corps Employers and Corps Members. He called on Corps Employers and other participants to collaborate with the Scheme in overseeing the training and grooming of the Corps Members. He urged them to treat Corps Members as part of their staff rather than treat them as birds of passage. He further charged them to take the welfare and security of Corps Members in their care seriously stressing that the Director General's focal points are strongly hinged on this. According to him, the DG has brought back the workshop to ensure Stakeholders and Corps Employers are not kept in the dark in the operations of the Scheme, its policies and programmes with regards to Corps Members. He further stated that the workshop aimed to collect feedback from key stakeholders regarding the NYSC programme, creating an environment for the exchange of ideas to enhance its operations. The workshop featured two lectures delivered by seasoned facilitators. A lecture was delivered on "The Role of Stakeholders in the Efficient and Effective Administration of Corps Members' Welfare and Security", by Mr. Ella Aji Williams, the Deputy Director, Corps Development, NYSC South West Area Office. He provided crucial insights emphasizing the safeguarding of Corps Members during the service year. Ella called upon various stakeholders to prioritize the welfare and security of Corps Members. He urged Corps Employers to follow proper procedures when receiving Corps Members and to take care of their well-being. Williams highlighted the importance of avoiding posting Corps Members to isolated or troubled areas for accommodation and recommended providing security measures. Regarding the administration of Corps Members' security, he emphasized the importance of proper documentation, including attendance and movement registers. Williams advocated collaboration with law enforcement agencies, the formation of security teams, and regular counselling for Corps Members to ensure their safety and well-being during the service year. Another lecture delivered was titled "improving the welfare and security of Corps Members for increased Productivity", by Engr. (Dr) Olutosin Olufisayo Ilorin who emphasised the importance of enhanced welfare and security in productivity. He said that motivating Corps Members through various welfare provisions will go a long way in ensuring their effectiveness and efficiency during the service year. He urged participants to treat the Members like their own children and look out for them not only through monetary provisions but quality healthcare, accommodation and counselling. He harped on the importance of fashioning a cordial relationship with the members and gaining their trust and respect in the workplace. He further stressed on the need for Employers to keep in touch with their Corps Members and show interest in their well-being. Discussions and reactions on the two lectures delivered and also on the Director General's keynote address formed a major feature of the workshop, aside the colorful cultural display by the state's cultural troupe, SAED exhibition and the free medical investigation for participants. The workshop further featured syndicate group discussions on 'Corps Welfare Challenges: Steps to Ameliorate them for Effective Service Delivery' and 'Expectations from Corps Employers in Checking Absenteeism and Truancy Amongst Corps Members', after which resolutions and recommendations made were adopted. The workshop which kick-started today with the Osogbo Zone had Corps Employers from Osogbo, Olorunda, Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, Orolu, Irepodun, Ayedire, Ìwọ, Ọlá Olúwa and Ejigbo in attendance. The second phase of the workshop will hold simultaneously in the other three zones of the State, namely: Ikirun, Ife and Ilesa on Wednesday, 18th October, 2023.

The 2022 Batch C1 Corps Members deployed to Osun State marked the culmination of their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) journey today, October 12th, with a low-key passing out ceremony that echoed across the 30 local government areas of the State and 1 Area Office. The day commenced with eager anticipation as Corps Members assembled at each Local Government Area (LGA) secretariat to collect their hard-earned NYSC certificates. This crucial certificate collection process was meticulously overseen by Local Government inspectors and a dedicated team of NYSC officials who ensured the smooth distribution of certificates. The ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Agbor Ndoma Obim, the State Coordinator of NYSC Osun State. He was joined by Mr. Wophill Eric, a senior officer of the Scheme hailing from Abuja, and the Zonal Inspector, among other distinguished officials who monitored the success of the programme across selected local governments in the four zones of the State. Excitement filled the air as Corps Members arrived at the collection centers, celebrating the successful completion of their NYSC service. These dedicated individuals embarked on their NYSC journey on November 2, 2022, with a total of 2,618 members. This batch consisted of 1,167 male corps members and 1,451 female Corps Members, who came together for a shared mission of national service. In a remarkable twist of fate, today's winding-up ceremony saw 2,569 corps members, including 1,144 males and 1,425 females, successfully completing all four cardinal programs of the NYSC scheme. However, it was noted that 35 Corps Members will be required to undergo an extension, while 14 Corps Members, unfortunately, absconded from their service obligations. The passing out ceremony also offered moments of nostalgia and celebration, as corps members indulged in photography sessions. They captured the essence of their hard-earned achievement, proudly posing with their cherished certificates alongside family and friends. The 2022 Batch C1 Corps Members have left an indelible mark of dedication and service on the landscape of Osun state. As they embark on new journeys, they carry with them the invaluable experiences and memories of their time in the NYSC program, leaving behind a legacy of service to the nation.

In a dazzling display of military discipline, precision and unity, the 2023 Batch B Stream 2 Corps Members participated in an Inter-Platoon Drills Competition, with Platoon 10 emerging as the victors. The event not only showcased the exceptional drill skills of the platoons but also emphasized the importance of unity in a diverse nation. Major John Itodo, Camp Commandant, in his address explained the significance of the drills, highlighting their role in fostering unity among individuals from various backgrounds. He spoke about how these drills contribute to cohesion in our diverse, multi-tribal, and multi-linguistic nation. Moreso, that the drills strengthens resilience and vigor in the face of adversity. Beginning the event, the judges, comprising four distinguished high-ranking military officers, were invited to initiate the drill competition. And with a meticulous eye, the judges commenced their inspection of the ten platoons, witnessing a remarkable display of military choreography, observing their synchronized movements and impeccable formations. As part of the inspection process, the platoon guard commanders, having undergone intensive training over the past two weeks, introduced their units to the judges. At the end of the competition which was sponsored by the Commander Engineering Construction Command Nigeria Army, Ede, Brig. Gen. KF Suleiman, Platoon 10 claimed the 1st position with 61.15 points, followed by Platoon 4 in 2nd place with 58.75 points and Platoon 5 in 3rd place with 57.18 points. The remaining platoons achieved the following rankings: Platoon 2 (4th), Platoon 7 (5th), Platoon 1 (6th), Platoon 3 (7th), Platoon 6 (8th), Platoon 9 (9th), and Platoon 8 (10th). Platoon 10 earned further recognition as SSGT Nuhu Saidu was named the Best Drill Instructor. Additionally, Lawrence Eko-owai from Platoon 10 (LA/6800) was acknowledged as the Best Commander of Batch B, Stream 2 Inter-Platoon Drills Competition. It is also important to mention that the Platoon that came last in this competition was given the customary Otondo Spoon for coming first from the rear. The event witnessed the presence of the State Coordinator, Mr Agbor Ndoma, the Camp Director, Mr Aleshinloye Adeniyi and other Heads of Assignments and Heads of collaborating agencies. The event was judged by Lt. AA Ajewole; Lt II Alayande; Lt OD Adokuru; Lt Pofi.

The Director Corps Welfare and Health Services Department, NYSC NDHQ, Mr Omotade Ayodele Benjamin has inspired the 2023 Batch B Stream 2 Corps Members to acquire skills and Excel in them. The entry of Mr. Omotade Ayodele to the Multipurpose Hall of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Tuesday, was heralded by lively performances from the Band and a cultural dance by one of the platoons on Camp, accompanied by heartfelt tributes highlighting his hometown connections. Omotade, addressing the NYSC Members, expressed gratitude for the shared identity among Corps Members across different NYSC Camps, emphasizing unity and a common purpose. He led the hall in a spirited song that resonated with enthusiastic claps and harmonious unity, all geared towards raising the morale of the Corps Members and preparing them to recieve his words of encouragement and wisdom. Speaking to the assembly, Omotade extended congratulations to Corps Members from various institutions and commended the camp's exceptional cleanliness. He stressed that effective leadership transcends age and centers around values such as discipline, diligence, and value addition. Underscoring the significance of the year-long opportunity ahead, he encouraged Corps Members to make the most of their time by adding value to themselves and their host communities. He highlighted the transformative potential of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development lectures and emphasized the importance of turning knowledge into practical skills. Omotade also addressed safety and security, emphasizing the role of Corps Members in ensuring their own well-being within their respective host communities. He charged them to steer clear of vices and rather embrace virtues ensuring they leave their host communities better than they met it. He further urged the Corps Members to refrain from unnecessary travelling and settle down to business in their various places of primary assignment. Omotade, speaking on relocation, highlighted reasons why Corps Members should settle down in the state of their deployment and not be in a hurry to relocate. He told them to see their deployment as an act of God and to resist the urge to lie in order to secure a relocation. According to him, they should not be in a hurry to remove themselves from the will of God as they do not know what God has in store for them in the State of their deployment. As a testament to his commitment, he awarded cash prizes to outstanding groups including the QuarterGuard, Cultural Dance Team, Band, and the OBS. He symbolically supported the Camp's carnival festivities by donating a fat cow. The event was concluded by the Corps Camp Director's vote of thanks, emphasizing the importance of the discussions and the empowerment they had witnessed. The State Coordinator, Mr. Agbor Ndoma Obim earlier in his brief welcomed the Director to the ongoing Orientation Course. He provided an in-depth overview of Camp proceedings, encompassing the swearing-in ceremony, security measures, transport allowances paid to Corps Members, and the collaborative partnership with Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital. He also acknowledged the joyous birth of a baby boy to a Corps Member, named after the Director General of NYSC by the Couple. He highlighted some of the renovations undertaken by the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke and the ongoing construction work at the uncompleted hostel built by one of his predecessor, Mr Attah. He informed the Director that the hostel will be completed soon and ready for Commissioning. The State Coordinator took the Director on a guided Inspection of Camp facilities. Meanwhile, Omotade had also charged Members of staff and heads of collaborating agencies to strive to make their contributions in their sphere. He stated that NYSC as a Scheme that makes things happen provides a platform for people to impact lives and add value to their own lives as well. Omotade emphasised on the need for self development as civil servants saying that staff should not feel too big to learn from even their surbodinates as no flippant leader succeeds in life. He urged the officials to be committed to the welfare of the Corps Members in their care as their work is hinged on the existence of the Corps Members. "Without the Corps Members there can be no NYSC. Therefore be committed to three things: the welfare of Corps Members, Welfare of Corps Members and the Welfare of Corps Members", he said.

His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has charged the over 2700 Corps Members sworn-in in Osun State comprising 1808 Corps Members deployed to the State and 900 dislodged from Lagos State, to stay true to the National Pledge and the NYSC Oath of Allegiance which they had sworn to before the Chief Judge of the State. Adeleke gave the charge at the Swearing-in and Official Opening Ceremony of the 2023 Batch B Stream 2 Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Ede on Friday. His Excellency, who was represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Hon. Moshood Olagunju, acknowledged and commended the bold and notable strides the NYSC had made in contributing to the socio-economic development of the State and the Country in the areas of education, rural health, infrastructure and agriculture. He also commended the State Coordinator, Mr. Agbor Ndoma Obim and his team for their commitment to the training of mobilised graduate youths for a more productive and efficient service to the nation. Senator Adeleke also charged the Corps Members to be law abiding and to always ensure they channel their grievances in a civilised and constitutionally acceptable way. "Remember that the younger generation looks up to you as her role model. Therefore, shun any action capable of misinforming and misleading the young ones. " Let me advise you to make wise use of the digital space and technology. Do not use your social media handles to peddle fake news and rumours: rather use your handles to add value to yourself and to others. Remember, you are now an ambassador of the NYSC and the State of your deployment", he added. Speaking on the need to embrace skills acquisition, Governor Adeleke urged the Members to be creative and innovative. "Be creative and innovative as graduates. Do not only think of consuming but rather begin to think of what you can produce or offer as a solution to human needs and problems. " Imbibe the mindset of an entrepreneur and toll the path of diligence, hardwork and industry: which is the key to lasting success and prosperity", he said. Conclusively, he assured them of his government's continued support and committment to their welfare and safety as they serve the nation in Osun State. Speaking earlier, Mr Agbor Ndoma Obim, the State Coordinator, informed the Corps Members that the Orientation Course is the first of the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC which they were expected to pass through in order to qualify for the certificate of national service. He highlighted some of the objectives and course content of the three weeks regimented Orientation, while emphasising on the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development in-camp training slated to commence soon. He urged them to leverage on the programme to become self-reliant wealth and employment creators rather than job seekers in an over populated labour market. Agbor also charged the Members to take their health seriously and desist from self medication. "Do not hide your health status as we stand in loco-parentis to you. Do not self medicate, we have qualified doctors and nurses on ground to attend to your health needs, therefore, I implore you to abstain from self medication and seek proper consultation when sick". Conclusively, he appreciated His Excellency for the ongoing renovation of Camp facilities and for his fatherly disposition towards Corps Members serving in the State. The National Pledge and Oath of Allegiance were administered on the Corps Members by the representative of the Chief Judge of Osun State, Hon. Justice Babafemi Abimbola Akande. Meanwhile, the Man'O'War and the NYSC Cultural troupe thrilled the audience to a thug of war and cultural dance display respectively. His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke charged Corps Members to impact their host community during the service year. Senator Adeleke who was ably represented by the Deputy Governor of the State, Prince Kola Adewusi, formally brought the Batch B Stream 1 three weeks Orientation Course to a close at the terminal parade ceremony which held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Tuesday. He congratulated the Corps Members on their completion of the Orientation Course and commended them for their comportment and conduct in the last three weeks. He likewise commended the State Coordinator and his team for their selfless service in actualizing the objectives of the NYSC Scheme. His Excellency encouraged Corps Members to accept their posting without resentment, serve eagerly, Impact host community and contribute their own quota to it's development. He counselled them to jettison all forms of ethnic, religious and tribal prejudice as he promised to create an enabling and conducive environment for them during their service year. He also reiterated the State Government's commitment towards the security and welfare of Corps Members. He further charged them to uphold the ideals and core values of the Scheme and also wished them a blissful service year. According to him there are many opportunities opened to those who distinguish themselves during their service year. The State Coordinator, Mr Agbor Ndoma Obim, in an earlier address, on behalf of the Director General of NYSC, Brig. Gen. YD Ahmed, also congratulated Corps Members on their successful completion of the first phase of their service year. He likewise appraised their show of discipline through out the Orientation Course and urged them to keep up such attitude. He urged them to maximise the knowledge they had received from the different lectures in camp. He also reiterated the four cardinals programme of the Scheme noting that participation in the fourth cardinal programme is hinged on their active participation and satisfactory performance in the first three. Agbor urged them to discharge their duties with a sense of commitment as they proceed to their place of primary assignment. He discouraged truancy and all forms of unseriouness and demanded that they impact host community through the community development service. He advised that they take advantage of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development post camp training in perfecting their craft. Agbor appreciated His Excellency for the 2000 mattresses donated to the camp and execution of other renovation projects in keeping to his promise to uplift the face of the Camp. He equally acknowledged the presence of the royal father Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Timi of Ede land and other distinguished guests present. The closing ceremony featured the giving of awards to outstanding Camp officials. Best collaborating officials Award category went to the RSM, the Head of fire service on Camp, ASF Adefioye Adeniyi and the Head of Civil Defence, ASC Ajala Isaiah while for the Best NYSC Officials, Mrs Otemuyiwa Catherine of the publicity and protocol committee emerged first place while Mr David Ayedenu, a platoon Officer and Mr Oyebimpe Opeyemi, a kitchen staff emerged second and third respectively.

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has charged the 2023 Batch B Stream 1 Corps Members deployed to Osun State and those dislodged from Lagos State to make the Nigerian economy bigger and stronger by embracing the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program of the NYSC. Adeleke implored the members to think of what they can produce rather than what they can consume. He urged them to develop the mindset of an entrepreneur seeking to find solutions to human needs and problems. Adeleke, who was represented by the Deputy Governor of the State, Prince Kola Adewusi at the Swearing-in and Official Opening Ceremony of the Batch at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Friday, assured the Corps Members of the continued support and commitment of the Government to the welfare and security of the members. He urged them, therefore, not to seek relocation outside the State but to settle down int the State as the people of the State are known for their hospitality and love. Sen. Adeleke commended the Management of the Scheme for being frontiers for peace, unity and development in the country. He acknowledged the giant strides made by the Scheme in the areas of health, education, infrastructure and agriculture in the Country and called on all to support the NYSC's programmes and initiatives. He urged the 2150 Corps Members to see their call to Service as a selfless and patriotic one geared towards nation building. The Governor further called on the newly inducted members to be law abiding and stay true to the Pledge and Oath they had sworn to before the Chief Judge of the State. Earlier, the State Coordinator, Mr Agbor Ndoma Obim, in his introductory speech, appreciated the Governor for making good his promises to the Scheme. He appreciated him for renovating camp facilities - reroofing the pavilion, painting the pavilion, camp office, hostels, among others. Agbor intimated that a total of 2150 prospective Corps Members were deployed to the State comprising 1700 Osun Corps Members and 450 dislodged from Lagos State for the Orientation Course. The State Coordinator hinted on the importance of the Orientation Course to the achievement of the objectives of the Scheme. According to him, the program was designed to equip Corps Members for the challenges of the service year and to further familiarise them with their State of deployment and the ideals of the NYSC. He called on the Corps Members to sustain the relevance of the NYSC through hard work, patriotic service and community development service as their predecessors have done. He assured them that the Scheme is committed to rewarding excellence and outstanding service, urging them to therefore, face the service year with fervour and patriotism. On a final note, he charged them to embrace opportunities provided by the Scheme to become self reliant, disciplined and productive. The National Pledge and NYSC Oath of Allegiance was administered by Hon. Justice Zakariyah Oyejide Falola who represented the Chief Judge of the State. Also, the Ceremony had in attendance the Director, NYSC Southwest Area, Mr Amusan Oluwole Julius, Service Chiefs and other dignitaries. The National Youth Service Corps Osun State Coordinator, Mr Agbor Ndoma Obim has congratulated the 2022 Batch B Stream 2 Corps Members for successfully completing the one year mandatory service to the nation. He appreciated the Corps Members for being undaunted, humble and unwavering since the beginning of the service year till the joyful moment. Agbor, who monitored the low key exercise along with the management team, disclosed that a total of 2184 were successfully disengaged and that 19 Corps Members were sanctioned by the Board due to the lackadaisical attitude portrayed during their service year which attracted an extension of service, while 14 members who absconded were billed to repeat the service as prescribed in the Act and Bye-laws of the Scheme. Agbor enjoined the Corps Members to put to good use the trainings recieved while navigating through the four phases of the service year. He charged them to embrace hardwork and industry leveraging on the various skills acquired during their in-camp and post camp skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development classes. The State Coordinator implored the members to cherish the friendships and relationship bonds formed during the service year and continue to be their brothers keeper as they step into the larger society. He charged them to shun all forms of corruption and social vices which only results in a setback for the nation and the perpetrator as well. He encouraged the Corps Members to continue to be good ambassadors of the nation, their families and the Scheme. In a vote of thanks, one of the outgoing Corps Members, Jimoh Kudus Tunde, on behalf of his colleagues, expressed his profound gratitude to the State Coordinator and other staff for their impact on the Corps Members throughout the service year and assured the Scheme of their commitment and continued support for the NYSC. The 2184 Corps Members were seen beaming with joy appreciating God and the NYSC for the privilege given them to contribute their quota to national integration and development. The low key passing out ceremony took place on Thursday across the thirty local government areas and area office with senior officers of the Scheme sent out to handle the distribution of the CNS to the Corps Members in the various LGs.

The Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has lauded the efforts of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in its mandate to foster peace and unity in the country through its programmes. Governor Adeleke who was ably represented by the Director of Youth, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Adekunle Osuolale, said the Event is significant because it marks the effort of the government to foster national unity, rehabilitation, reconstruction, integration and development of the nation. Governor Adeleke commended the efforts of the Ministry of Education of the country, also urging Corps Members to be of good conduct and continue to promote national unity wherever they find themselves. While lauding the Scheme's efforts, he re-established the commitment of the State to supporting the vision and purpose of NYSC in the State, stating that the Government will always listen and try her possible best to attend to the needs of the Scheme. Speaking earlier, the State Coordinator of NYSC Osun State, Mr. Agbor Ndoma Obim has said that the introduction of the National Youth Service (NYSC) Programme has been helpful in fostering peace and oneness in the country, saying that it came at a much-needed time and since then the relevance is overwhelming. Speaking on key actors' involvement in the progress of the Scheme, Agbor appreciated the Government for formulating the Scheme, he said that it has helped in fostering inclusion and boosting tolerance nationwide. Agbor further said that about 300,000 Corps Members were deployed nationwide who benefited from the opportunities provided by the Scheme annually. He said these opportunities like the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme have given youths the platform to be self-reliant and employers of labour. On the effect of the programmes of the Scheme, Agbor said benefactors are in turn contributing to development in the country. On the quality of the Scheme in the last five decades, representing the Director, NYSC Southwest Area Office, Mr. Olajide Ayeniko said the Scheme has waxed stronger because of the contribution of Corps Members in the States of their deployment. He further said the idea to initiate such a programme is immense, reiterating the reason the Scheme was initiated. Following a myriad of other activities, Chief Executive Officer Destiny Initiative Development, Mr. Segun Oduyebo delivered a lecture on 'NYSC: Five Decades Of Fostering National Unity and Development'. He said the Scheme has had a legacy of doing a great job. On the strategy of the Scheme, Oduyebo noted the four cardinal programmes, stating that they have been instrumental in keeping the journey on a smooth and steady course. He highlighted the many achievements of the NYSC citing examples of people who have benefited greatly from the Scheme. Oduyebo pinpointed the different sectors of the country that the selfless services of Corps Members had impacted greatly. He further gave examples of persons who became great today by leveraging on the platforms provided by the NYSC, also, relationships, businesses and marital connections made possible through the Scheme. Oduyebo, in his lecture, touched on the employment opportunities made available to Corps Members through the free movement of labour across the country, the free healthcare accessed by rural dwellers through the NYSC-HIRD programme, among others. Entertainment ensued when the Cultural Troupe Community Development Service Group danced, showcasing their acrobatic skills to add glamour to the event. Further in the event, as a way to award effective and efficient stewardship, the State Coordinator, NYSC Osun State presented the Award of Best NYSC Friendly Host Community to the Olororuwo of Ororuwo Community, HRM, Oba Adeyemi Adeyanju. He also presented the Award of Best Corps Employer to Mrs. Damilola Opeyemi of Jewel Childminders School, while the the Award of Best Friend of NYSC went to Chief jide Bewaji, CEO of Atlantis Event Centre Osogbo. In the same vein, long serving NYSC officers Award were given to three Assistant Director, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu, Mrs Mary Adebesin and Mrs Funmi Okundaye. Long serving Award was also given to Mrs Juliana Orotayo, Mrs Akinyoola Yemi, Mrs Adedeji Modupe, Mr Adedeji Babatunde, Mr Bashir Kadri, Mr Mike Uzegbu, Mrs Agbaje Florence, Mrs Ogunleye Sijuade, Mr Bukola Faseun and Mr Salako Segun. Meanwhile, the Staff of Merit Award was awarded to Mr. Adesan Olaniyi Michael. The event also featured an exhibition of products from some of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development post camp classes; Also, testimonials from two ex-corps members who shared their service year experience with the house. The testifiers were: HRM Ọba Adeyemi Adeyeanju, the Olororuwo of Ororuwo and also, the Assistant Commandant NSCDC, Keshinro Oluwakemi. Conclusively, a toast was made to the Scheme at 50 by Prof. Ife Adewumi, the CEO of GEMS Initiative.

As part of the activities to mark the celebration of the National Youth Service Corp's 50th anniversary themed; 5 decades of fostering unity and national development, the NYSC Osun State has embarked on a Unity Walk within the State metropolis. The Unity Walk which was held nationwide in line with the directive from the Directorate Headquarters was the first in the lined up activities marking the golden jubilee of the NYSC. Speaking at the flag off of the Walk on Monday, which started from the Secretariat in Osogbo to the popular Freedom Park, the Director Southwest Area, Mr Amusan Oluwole Julius, appreciated the Management of the Scheme in the State for mobilising Corps Members and for the organised planning of the Walk. According to him, the NYSC Scheme which was at first a child of necessity birthed as a result of the civil war to rebuild, reconstruct and reconcile the nation has today become a household name spanning five decades. Amusan highlighted some of the many achievements of the Scheme stressing that the NYSC has over the years fostered unity and development. He also stated that the Scheme has brought about developments in the educational, health, infrastructural and agricultural sector. Also, through the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED), the NYSC Scheme has equally succeeded in making the nation's graduate youths think and tend more towards Entrepreneurship than succumbing to the frustration of seeking employment which is scarce. He then admonished Corps Members to maintain orderliness and discipline during the Walk, guaranteeing their safety. Speaking earlier, the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr Agbor Ndoma Obim eulogised the Director General, Brig. Gen. YD Ahmed for approving the week-long celebration of the golden jubilee of the Scheme stressing that it was a well deserved honour and celebration. Agbor said that the Scheme was created 22nd May, 1973 to unite and integrate the nation, instil discipline in the Nigerian youths, instil spirit of self reliance in the youths, among others. He said further that the golden jubilee is a special anniversary which the Scheme cannot but celebrate because of how far it has been able to achieve and is still achieving its objectives. He said programmes have been lined up to mark the golden anniversary which include: novelty match, lecture, thanksgiving, among others. Agbor stated that the NYSC Scheme has been remarkably impactful in fostering unity and national development by promoting national integration, inculcating discipline among corps members, building skills through its entrepreneurial programmes, etc, hence the need for a grand celebration. He added that the essence of the walk is to create awareness among citizens concerning the activities of the Scheme. "We want the whole world to know about all that NYSC has been doing", he stressed. Agbor appreciated the Director Southwest Area and his entourage for choosing to hold the Walk with the Osun State Secretariat and also applauded the Corps Members for turning out enmass to for the historic Unity Walk. At the end of the event the Director, southwest Area, and the State Coordinator congratulated Corps Members for being able to successfully complete the Walk. "I asked that you should be orderly and you done just that. I am so proud of you all" were the words of the Area Director. They also noted that the Walk was just the first activity in the anniversary celebration as other events are scheduled to hold from the 17th of May through 25th to mark the anniversary, hence, Corps Members are advised to continue working diligently, avoid unnecessary travels, and remain good ambassadors of the Scheme. The walk was energy filled as Corps Member, NYSC officials, and even passers-by joined in dancing and singing to the life rhythm of the Scheme's life band and DJ mix.

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has promised more support for the NYSC in the State. He lauded the Scheme for doing her best in uniting the nation through her programmes and the many inter-ethnic relationships that have come to be through her. He said the NYSC Scheme has indeed made it difficult for the nation to divide. Governor Adeleke said this during the courtesy visit of the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr Agbor Ndoma Obim and his team to the Bola Ige House in Osogbo, on Tuesday. Adeleke also lauded the Scheme for keeping to the vision of the founding fathers and assured that the concerns raised by the Scheme would be addressed. "We will take a look at your requests and we will surely do something about it, " he said. He admitted that it is the role of the State Government to provide and maintain the Orientation Camps, therefore promising to look into the list of requests presented by the management on several operational and financial issues the Camp was facing. He assured the State Coordinator and the Camp’s management team of the revived support of Adeleke University, Ede. He stated that he had already approved the request for food augmentation and the State's support for the office complex is almost completed. Adeleke further said that work would commence on the Camp stating that his administration would begin the renovation of the Camp by painting it to give it a face-lift. Meanwhile, the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr Agbor Ndoma Obim in his address, appreciated Governor Adeleke for his unwavering support for the Scheme since he took over office as Governor of Osun State. He extended the appreciation of the Director General, Brig. Gen YD Ahmed and the NYSC management to the Governor for presiding over the Swearing-in Ceremony of the 2023 Batch A Stream 1 and 2 in the State. According to Agbor, Governor Adeleke was about the only Governor who presided over the Swearing-in Ceremony in person, looking at the reports from other States. He appreciated His Excellency saying that his coming uplifted his profile as a State Coordinator. Agbor thereafter intimated Governor Adeleke on the achievements of the Scheme in the State and also the challenges bedeviling the Scheme. Listing the challenges, Agbor began with a request for the Governor to prompt Adeleke University to revive its support programme for the Orientation Camp. He said the University used to help the Camp with event sponsorships and environment maintenance such as grass cutting. His next request was a befitting office complex for the Scheme in the State. He said that the NYSC requires a more robust building to carry out administrative duties, apprizing Mr Governor of the rent incurred by the Scheme for the current office complex. He then requested the Governor's help in renovating the Orientation Camp as most of the buildings within the Camp are in need of renovations. He also requested assistance with welfare and feeding augmentation during Orientation Course for the teeming number of Prospective Corps Members deployed to the State. Another request was the prompt payment of the state subvention. He said the prompt and regular payment of the subvention as stipulated in the NYSC Act will aid the administrative team in running the Scheme's programmes in the State. The Coordinator also pleaded for an upward review of the allowance of Corps Members working in the State ministries and establishments as the economic situation of the country demands. Agbor highlighted a special aspect of the NYSC Scheme that recognizes Corps Members who have made outstanding contributions to their host communities and appealed for the resuscitation of the State Honors Award as it has not been active and without the award system there is no way for outstanding Corps Members to be nominated for the Presidential Award. In the area of transport, the State Coordinator solicited for a bus to enable the State administrative team commute for official engagements such as cultural competitions, of which the Osun State team emerged first place recently. He stated that the current bus the team uses is old and needs a replacement. The last item on the state coordinators list was support for Corps Members Community Development Service (CDS) projects. Agbor believes with the State Government's support dialogues on these projects with local government chairmen and community leaders will be much easier. Adeleke in his response assured the Scheme of the State Government's support saying that he will equally encourage other stakeholders in the State to support the Scheme so that the NYSC culture and ideals can be sustained. Obim appreciated governor Adeleke for his unwavering support for the Scheme and presented some publications of the Scheme to the Governor. The State Coordinator NYSC Osun State, Mr. Agbor Ndoma Odim has briefed the 2023 Batch A Stream II Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) today on the importance of the Orientation Course and merits of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program (SAED). The briefing took place at the Parade Ground of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede and had in attendance the Camp Director, Mrs. Funmi Okundaye, Camp Commandant, Capt. Oyekanmi Olawale and other Camp officials. Agbor stressed on the purpose of the Orientation Course in preparing PCMs for the service year. "The essence of the Orientation Course is to prepare you for your one year mandatory service to the nation and to equip you to make meaningful impacts in the host community you find yourself" he said. He encouraged the PCMs to fully participate in the SAED program which was launched in 2012 to equip Corps Members with entrepreneurial skills and knowledge to curb the rising unemployment rate in the country. "The goal is for you all to be employers and not just job seekers. There are a lot of talents and skills on display in SAED so ensure you pick one that best aligns with your needs and strengths." He charged. He then highlighted the administrative structure of the NYSC Scheme, right from the National Directorate, to the six Area offices: South South, South East, South West, North Central, North West and North East, the State Secretariat down to the local government offices, for the Corps Members information. He then assured the PCMs of the reliability of the medical facilities and personnel in the Camp, informing them of his instructions to send any PCM with medical ailments to a hospital if the cases persists beyond four hours. He also acknowledged the presence of dislodged PCMs from Lagos State and encouraged unity and team work amongst all PCMs regardless of their states of deployment as, according to him, NYSC is one nationwide. "We believe in teamwork and it remains one of the core values of NYSC” he said. Speaking on social media usage, Agbor charged the PCMs to use their social media space wisely avoiding every form of negativity and rumour mongering. Agbor equally enlightened the PCMs on the other cardinal programmes of the Scheme, types of allowance Corps Members are entitled to, channel of communication, the various Camp committees, religious activities on Camp, among others. Rounding off his address, he wished all PCMs success ahead of their swearing in tomorrow, Friday, April 28, 2023. The briefing also featured the introduction of heads of committees and heads of collaborating agencies.

Mr Agbor Ndoma Obim has assumed duty as the 15th State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Osun State replacing Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab who has been transferred to Niger State. Mr Agbor, during the handing over ceremony at the NYSC Secretariat in Osogbo on Friday, commended the Management team for their hardwork, diligence and loving disposition towards one another and other Members of staff. According to him, his predecessor has spoken highly of the management team and therefore called on them to continue to work as a team. He assured them of his readiness to run an open door administration which welcomes good advice and input from the management. Addressing members of staff after the handing over ceremony, Agbor appreciated his predecessor, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab, for a job well done in the State. He commended her for the impact and the strides made within the ten months spent as State Coordinator in the State. He thereafter charged members of staff to continue to exhibit the discipline and commitment which he had observed the moment he stepped into the Secretariat assuring them of his committment to the welfare of both staff and Corps Members. He informed that his administration would run an open door policy harnessing the strength of individuals for the achievement of success. "everyone is important, just as everyone has his own potential. Remember, we are not here to compete. We are on the same team called 'success' and we should therefore work together toward achieving success for the Scheme in the State. " I have been briefed on how loving, hardworking, dilligent and disciplined you all are. Please continue to love one another and work together. Let's all work toward one goal which is success." Earlier, the erstwhile State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab in her handing over brief eulogised the Management and members of staff describing them as the best team any leader could pray to work with. She commended the management and staff for their support, and called on them to support her successor as they had supported her during her sojourn in the State. She charged them to embrace the change in administration as an act of God and be ready to work and support the new administration in ensuing the achievement of the mandate of the Scheme in the State. Mr Agbor Ndoma Obim hails from Cross River State and has a Bsc and Msc in Political Science and Public Administration from the Cross Rivers State University, now the University of Uyo and the University of Calabar respectively. He joined the workforce of the NYSC as Administrative Officer 1 in 1998, serving in several capacities and different formations of the Scheme, namely: Lagos, Borno, Enugu and Kaduna State. Until his appointment and transfer on Wednesday 12th April, 2023, he was State Coordinator Kaduna State.

The Akesin of Ora Ìgbómìnà, Oba Samuel Oladoye Idowu has lauded the NYSC Scheme for the Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers programme which according to him, has impacted many lives and made good healthcare service available to the people in the rural areas. Oba Samuel commended the Director General and management of the Scheme for putting the people first in her programmes. "As we all know Health is wealth. We thank the NYSC for remembering the people in the rural areas who hardly have access to healthcare facilities. " The people of Ora Ìgbómìnà appreciate the Director General and the NYSC family for bringing the HIRD train to us. We have looked forward to this day and are glad it is our turn to enjoy the free healthcare service offered by the Scheme through her corps médical personnel. "I encourage our people to leverage on this and submit yourselves for proper check up. Listen to the NYSC team and follow their instructions". He said The Ọba assured the NYSC team of his continued support for the Scheme. He described the people of the locality as loving and hospitable assuring the Management of the welfare and safety of corps members serving in the Ora Ìgbómìnà community. Flagging off the event, the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab appreciated the people of Ora Ìgbómìnà for the warm reception accorded the team upon arrival. She made it know that the HIRD programme is an initiative of the NYSC which has helped to bring free healthcare to the people in the rural areas across the federation. Abdulwahab informed the people that the Scheme through the programme has attended to millions of people and investigated several health cases thereby improving the quality of life of the beneficiaries. The State Coordinator stated that the HIRD programme was designed to provide timely health intervention to the people in the rural areas who due to distance may hitherto not have access to quality healthcare. "the HIRD is an innovation of the NYSC Director General aimed at reaching out to core rural areas to enhance the accessibility of healthcare services by rural Dwellers. " the Scheme engages Corps médical personnel in the sensitisation on disease prevention, provision of first aid services, monitoring of cases and provision of appropriate referral when necessary", she said. She assured that the Scheme's intervention agents are skilled and energetic Corps médical personnel who are on ground to attend to the teeming crowd who came to be attended to. "the Director General of NYSC is passionate about the wellbeing not only of Corps members but also of the people in the communities where our Corps members serve, hence the committment of the Scheme to the well-being and quality of life of the people especially the rural dwellers". She thereafter presented gifts to His Royal Majesty who showered royal blessings on the Scheme and her members. Earlier, the Assistant Director Community Development Service, Mrs Taiwo Fatima in her welcome address intimated the people of the importance of the outreach and urged them to be orderly when the exercise begins. She further implored them to take the health talk delivered by Corps doctor Akinniranye Happiness seriously, adhering to the tips given. The programme which took place on Thursday at Ora Ìgbómìnà in Ifedayo LGA also had in attendance the Assistant Director Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, Mr Aleshinloye Adeniyi; the Head of Planning Research and Statistics, Mrs Adenle Caroline; Chief Inspector, Corps Welfare and Health Services, Mr Lawal Kehinde; zonal inspectors, local government inspectors, among others. The outreach attended to over 200 indigenes besides the Kabiyesi and Chiefs of the town.

A total of 2380 Corps Members have successfully completed the one year mandatory service for the 2022 Batch A Stream II service year, having fulfilled the requirements for the issuance of the Certificate of National Service (CNS). This was made known by the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab at the State Secretariat in Osogbo on Thursday. Abdulwahab also made it known that the NYSC is a training ground for mobilised graduates and there are bye-laws established for the achievement of the Scheme's objectives of instiling discipline and leadership qualities in the Members. She made it known that consequent upon this, a total number of 2,413 Corps Members were inducted into the service for the Stream but only 2,380 were billed to pass out. She noted that 22 Members had their service year extended for various infractions while 11 were declared abscondees for their incessant absence from their Places of Primary Assignments for the number of period stipulated in the NYSC Bye-laws. Abdulwahab who visited some of the local governments during the POP exercise which was low-key, thanked the Corps Members for the selfless service rendered during the service year. She stated that the impact they had made in the various host communities will forever be cherished and relived by the good people of the community. She urged them to utilise the trainings garnered during the course of the service as they step into the larger and competitive society. She reminded them of the Skills instilled in them through the Orientation and post orientation experience and charged them never to let go of them. Abdulwahab also charged the Corps Members to put to good use the tips and advice recieved during the recent SAED Job Advisory and Counselling (JAC) programme which held across the four zones of the State. She reiterated that the programme was included in the winding up and passing out activities of the Scheme to help them find a good foothold in the larger society. She said the Scheme is not only interested in their one year mandatory service to the nation but also in their post service year. She therefore urged them to leverage on the trainings and words of the experts to build their career and their businesses. "don't be afraid to start small. Every great enterprise started with a step. Therefore, do not despise little beginnings but embrace hard work, industry and fairness in all you do. "let go of the get rich quick syndrome and commit yourself to legitimate means to achieve your dream. I wish you all the best in your endeavours. Remember, I love you all and always will", she said. Abdulwahab also appreciated Corps Employers and the good people of Osun State for embracing the Members and treating them like their kin. She thanked the field officers for discharging their duty of being in locoparentis to the Corps Members well and urged them to keep up the good work. A visit also to Osogbo and Olorunda Local Government Areas saw Corps Members basking in euphoria as they thanked God for a successful service year. Many of the passing out Corps Members expressed their immense gratitude to God for seeing them through the service year; also, to the State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab and the NYSC officials at large for a job well done in seeing to it that they had a wonderful service year in Osun State.

The Director-General, NYSC, Brig. Gen. Yushau Dogara Ahmed has congratulated the 2023 Batch A Stream 1 Corps Members on their completion of the first phase of the service year, saying that they should maintain the spirit of patriotism as they embark on the next phase of the service year. The Director General, who was represented by the State Coordinator, NYSC Osun State, Mrs. Olayinka Abdulwahab said this while delivering his farewell address at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, on Tuesday. "I urge you to sustain the spirit of patriotism," he said, adding that the hard work and resilience they imbibed during the Orientation Course should be replicated in order for them to serve their motherland selflessly. On their acceptance of the outcome of their letters of posting, Ahmed told Corps Members that they should accept their postings in good faith, reminding them of the oath of allegiance they took while enlisting. Speaking on being good Ambassadors of the Scheme, he told them to perform their duties with diligence and also be guided by the provisions of the Scheme's Bye-laws and Act. The Director General further enjoined Corps Members to avail themselves of the SAED post-camp trainings as it will empower them to be self-reliant, stating that the good report from the Scheme on the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme is encouraging. On the general elections and Corps Members participation, she said the involvement of NYSC in past elections have contributed to the credibility of the nation's electoral process. He further advised the Corps Members that as they partake as adhoc personnel they should adhere to the guidelines of the Electoral Act and also by the rules of engagement. In closing, Brig. Gen. Ahmed advised Corps Members to travel safe and only when permitted to, stating that they should disabuse their minds from night trips and risky adventures. "I would like to warn you against unauthorized journeys. If permitted to travel, you must avoid night trips. Travelling at night will not only increase the risk of accident, but also make rescue difficult." The three weeks Orientation Course is one of the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC Scheme which Corps Members are expected to complete before they are eligible for the Certificate of National Service (CNS).

The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab has charged the 2023 Batch A Stream 1 Corps Members deployed to Osun State and those dislodged from Lagos State to embrace the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Post Camp training as soon as they report at their various places of primary assignment and state of redeployment. Abdulwahab, who commended the Corps Members for their committment, discipline and overall good conduct, urged them to accept their postings in good faith reiterating the Scheme's commitment to the development and effective utilisation of the Corps Members. She assured them that their postings have been done inline with the prescribed posting policies of the Scheme and the felt needs of the State. She enjoined them to settle down at their PPA and strive to mobilise human and capital resources to add value to their host communities. According to her, it is easier for Corps Members to mobilise the aforementioned to meet the felt needs of their communities than for members of the community to do so. She therefore urged them to work individually and as a group towards bettering the lives of the people by addressing felt needs in the area. Abdulwahab, while debriefing the Corps Members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Ede, on Monday, informed them of the routine inspection by the Scheme's management and warned that on no account should Corps Members be found wanting in their PPA and Community Development Service Group. "Please as you go to your PPA comport yourselves and don't engage in illicit acts. Do not make trouble in your host communities. Respect the customs and views of the people. Stay out of trouble. " When you get to your PPA you may be accepted or rejected. Don't panic, we have you covered. Report to your Local Government Inspector with your acceptance or rejection letter. " Consequently, she enlightened them on what to do when faced with either of the cases. Furthermore, She urged them to adhere to the new development in the Country by been very prudent with their spending. She implored them to continue to exhibit good moral values. "I appreciate you all for adhering to all the regimented rules and regulations of the Camp". She emphasized that it is compulsory that they take their identity cards with them wherever they are going during the service year. In furtherance, she enlightened them on the modus operandi for engaging in the biometrics exercise. She reiterated: "You must be punctual at your PPA , take part in every CDS Activities. You must do your biometrics to earn your monthly allowance. " In fact, failure to collect your monthly allowance attracts sanction as it is an indication that you were not on ground for the affected month. Therefore, be very careful don't do anything that will attract the Scheme's stick to you". Conclusively, she said: "On a lighter note God Almighty will grant all your heart desires and bless you all with a wonderful partner". She appreciated Corps Members dislodged from Lagos State for integrating well with their Osun counterpart and for their active participation and outstanding conduct during the Orientation Course. She prayed Godspeed for them as they return back to their State of deployment and for all members as they leave the Orientation camp for their respective destinations. In related development, the Assistant Director Corps Inspection and Monitoring, Mrs Adesina Omoboade introduced the four zonal inspectors, namely: Osogbo, Ilesa, Ife and Ikirun zones, and also the inspectors in charge of the 30 local government areas and area office to the Corps Members for the purpose of familiarisation. The debriefing also featured presentation of certificates of commendation to the three Corps Camp Directors, over all parade commander and the assistant overall parade commander.

The Director National Youth Service Corps Northwest Area Office, Mr. Amusan Oluwole Julius has informed the 2023 Batch A Stream 1 Corps Members deployed to Osun State and those dislodged from Lagos State that the NYSC uniform does not guarantee nor confer immunity from the laws of the land on them. Amusan stated that any Corps Member who commits any crime nor engages in electoral malpractice will be prosecuted inline with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He said this while addressing the Corps Members at the Multipurpose Hall of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Ede on Tuesday. Speaking on the forthcoming election, Amusan charged the Corps Members to take the INEC training seriously and ensure they abide by the rules of engagement. He posited that the National Governing Board and the Director General of NYSC, Brig. Gen. YD Ahmed have prioritised the safety and welfare of the Corps Members. According to him, the Board and the DG have embarked on several advocacy visits to Service Chiefs and security agencies to solicit for more security during the election. He sternly warned Corps Members who would be involved in the electoral process not to compromise on their prospective ad-hoc duties. “The National Governing Board is not handling your security with kid gloves. Therefore those of you who would be engaged in the election should not entertain fear. “I want you to familiarize yourselves with the electoral acts. Do the right thing and do not compromise,” he said. Amusan, who came on an inspection tour of the State's Orientation Camp expressed his delight after going round the Camp facilities. Amusan advised the Corps Members to take seriously all what they have learnt and will yet learn on Camp, adding that there were Corps Members in the past who, through the SAED trainings, have become employers of labour and wealth creators. Amusan continued: “You will all agree with me that there are no jobs in Nigeria. Consider your background and do not let anyone distract you. “You may not be able to learn all in Camp, that is why we have the in-camp and post-camp training so that at the end of your training you will be independent". While warning the Corps Members against unauthorised journeys, Amusan said that Osun State is a very compact State and therefore they should desist from lobbying or inducing their postings to the urban centers alone. He implored them to allow God to choose for them as He alone knows where their goodness and blessings lie. He enjoined them to remain in their State of deployment as the times are perilous, urging them to leverage on technology to keep in touch with their loved ones rather than embarking on frivolous journeys. He said the well-being and safety of the Corps Members is sacrosanct to the Scheme and therefore, they should be good ambassadors of the Scheme and their families by adhering to the rules and regulations of the Scheme. Amusan commended the State Coordinator for her giant strides in the State witnessed during the inspection of Camp facilities and the commissioning of the multipurpose hall extension constructed by the State Coordinator. He also commended the Scheme's management and staff in the State for standing in locoparentis to the Corps Members and for creating a serene and conducive environment for them. He further commended the 2023 Batch A Stream 1 Corps Members for comporting themselves well. He said: “I can see that you're responsible Corps Members.” He congratulated them for the success of their undergraduate academic pursuit. “Some of your colleagues are not here either by indolence or unforseen circumstances,” Amusan added. He eulogised parents and guardians of the Corps Members for their unrelenting efforts in seeing to the education of their wards in the various tertiary institutions within and outside the country which qualified them for mobilisation. Earlier, the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab has lauded the Corps Members for their comportment, discipline and for showing love to one another. She described the State as a place where love and peace reign. She said this while briefing the Director on the comportment, disposition and welfare of the Corps Members. She stated that both Corps Members deployed to the State and those dislodged from Lagos State have integrated seamlessly and both have been enjoying the same welfare, comfort and love by all officials. She apprised the Director of the synergy that exist between the officials of the Scheme and the collaborating agencies specially commending the security agencies for going extra mile to ensure the safety of lives and properties of course participants. Highlights of the visit include the commissioning of the hall extension constructed by the State Coordinator, giving of cash gifts to Band, OBS, Quarter Guard, Cook and the Dance Troupe and also a family meeting with NYSC officials.

Abdulwahab stated this while delivering her farewell address at the low-key passing out ceremony for the 2022 Batch A Stream 1 on Thursday. While commending them for a successful service year, she thanked the Corps Members for leaving enduring legacies through the various Community Development Service (CDS) activities carried out in their host communities. On the essence of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme (SAED), she urged Corps Members to make good use of the abilities they acquired through the Scheme, stressing that the Scheme is a major power tool in empowering Corps Members towards self reliance and employment generation. Abdulwahab further enjoined the Passing-out Corps Members not to allow themselves to be used in frustrating the peace and tranquility of the nation, appealing to them to deploy wisdom and the experience gotten during the service year to rebuild the country. Abdulwahab made it known that out of the 2,413 Corps Members registered for the stream. a total of 2373 completed the service year satisfactorily while 20 absconded and 20 had their service extended for various infractions. Abdulwahab further committed Corps Members into God's hand, saying that the works of their hands will be blessed and God's grace will be upon them. Conclusively, she thanked the NYSC management and staff in the State, Corps Employers and the good people of Osun State who participated immensely in making sure that the service year of the 2022 Batch A Stream 1 was successful.

The negligence of indigenous cultures, customs and traditions by Nigerian youths has been bemoaned by the Akire of Ikire-Ile kingdom, Alh. Abdulazeez Olatunbosun Adebanjo. The Monarch, who was the guest speaker at the traditional lecture for the 2023 Batch A Stream 1 Orientation Course, made this known on Monday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp multi-purpose Hall, Ede. He stated that every Nigeria ethnic group has its peculiar beliefs, traditions and customs, adding that these ethnic groups are accommodating. He said: “Yoruba language, for instance, has its own religion and today you can see many Yorubas who are Muslims and Christians. “Various aspects of our customs and traditions keep us together. Today, you can see these religions inherent in a family.” The Monarch emphasised on the beauty of both material and immaterial aspect of the Nigeria cultures, ranging from parenting, leadership, marriage, and ethical values. Citing the Yoruba culture as an example, he said “Marriage is not a one-man show. Family heads, friends, relatives and neighbours all have a role to play in marriage. “Yoruba people believe in honesty, integrity, immunity and hardwork to maintain, sustain and protect one another from shame. “Each family or clan head has their family head known as Baale, who instill discipline and ensure that everyone under him abide by the laws of the clan. Nowadays, there are laws and they are not implemented, everyone takes law into their hands, that's why youths are being implored to be good ambassadors and proud of their indigenous traditions. The lecture had in attendance the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab, Camp Director, Mrs Mary Adebesin, Heads of Assignments and heads of collaborating agencies. The event featured dance performances by the Troupe of the Kabiyesi and presentation of gifts to the Monarch by the State Coordinator.

In a bid to alleviate unemployment and poverty in Nigeria, a call has been made to Corps Members to utilize the opportunities provided by the NYSC Scheme through the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED). The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs. Olayinka Abdulwahab made this call on Monday at the flag off ceremony of the 2023 Batch A Stream 1 SAED In-camp training programme. The programme which contains 12 skillsets, according to Abdulwahab , was targeted at providing Nigeria's graduates with entrepreneurship skills and stop them from being job seekers. She said, “Dear Corps Members, take out time to explore the business opportunities brought to you by SAED rather than seeking white collar jobs years after graduation. “Participating in this programme provides a rare opportunity you can't get for free anywhere. leverage on it and be serious with it.” Olayinka added that 28 hours in the space of 9days would be dedicated to the in-camp training of the skills acquisition programme. “There will be an inter-platoon skills competition at the end of the programme and winners, at the end of the day, will receive a package and business mentoring. Hundreds of Corps Members have already benefitted," she submitted. In his remarks, Mr. Aleshinloye Adeniyi, the Head of SAED, said that the programme which was established in 2012 was established to proffer solution to post service unemployment in the country. He said: “NYSC observed that after passing out of service, Ex-corps Members still go about seeking for white-collar jobs, and therefore had to think of a way to salvage the situation through the provision of a platform for Corps Members to acquire skills in an area of their choice. Today, some of them are seated here in our midst as trainers. They are now job creators and not job seekers.” A short playlet was also rendered by some Corps Members who are SAED ambassadors on Camp to portray the importance of SAED. Highlights of the ceremony further included a motivational lecture by the CEO of Classic Infotech Ltd, Mr Solomon Akporkporkpor and an Entrepreneurship Development Programme lecture by Mr Oyekanmi Rasak and Mr Bamidele Olugbenga of the National Directorate of Employment, Osun State.

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has called on the 2023 Batch A Stream 1 Corps Members deployed to Osun State and those dislodged from Lagos State to see their call to service as a call to a higher responsibility and Accountability. Adeleke made the call while declaring the Orientation Course for the Batch open at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, on Friday. He urged the Members to regard their mobilisation for the service year with sincerity of purpose and a passion to make a change rather than see it as a sheer waste of time. Adeleke called on the Corps Members to devote themselves to discovering ways to impact and improve upon the different sectors they will be deployed to by the NYSC Management. To achieve this, he stated that the Members must take their Orientation trainings seriously and purposefully. He assured of the government's support and committment to providing adequate security and a conducive environment for the Corps Members to enhance their productivity and optimisation. Speaking on Skills Acquisition, Adeleke charged the Corps Members to join in making the economy bigger and better by embracing skill acquisition and tolling the path of Entrepreneurship. "Be creative and innovative. Imbibe the mindset of an entrepreneur and toll the path of diligence, hard work and industry. These are the keys to lasting success." Adeleke emphasised on the need for the members to obey all rules and regulations, embracing peaceful coexistence, wholesome friendship and the virtue of honesty in all their dealings. He charged them to uphold the good name of the Scheme as the General Election is fast approaching. In her introductory address, the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab thanked the Governor and Good people of the State for their continued support for the NYSC Scheme in Osun State. She described the support as a motivating factor for Corps Members serving in the State. Abdulwahab also highlighted the importance and purpose of the Orientation Course. She stated that it is the first cardinal programme of the Scheme which gives the members a better understanding of the Scheme, familiarises them with their State of deployment and also prepares them for their unique roles in nation building. Abdulwahab called on the Corps Members to take their Orientation seriously and ensure active participation in all activities. She enjoined them to be team players and sharpen their interpersonal skills through the programmes and healthy interplatoon competitions packaged in the Orientation programme. While calling on the government and Corps Employers for more support for the Scheme through reviewed allowance and robust welfare for Corps Members, and renovation and expansion of Camp facilities, Abdulwahab charged the Batch Members to put to good use their social media by eschewing rumour mongering and other social vices while embracing love, unity and humanitarianism. The National Pledge and NYSC Oath of Allegiance were administered by the Chief Judge of Osun State, Hon. Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo who was represented by Hon. Justice Mathias Agboola. Guests were thrilled to a tug of war and cultural dance by the NYSC Osun State Cultural Troupe.

The NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab has charged the 2023 Batch A Stream I Prospective Corps Members deployed to Osun State and those dislodged from Lagos State to be disciplined and committed to the ideals of the National Youth Service Corps as they have been mobilised for the one year mandatory service to the nation. Abdulwahab gave the charge while briefing the PCMs at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Ede on Thursday. She urged them to participate actively in all programmes lined up for the three weeks Orientation Course bearing in mind that the Course is sacrosanct to the achievement of success during the service year. Also in her brief, Abdulwahab highlighted some of the objectives of the NYSC, the cardinal programmes of the Scheme and the importance of the Orientation Course in the achievement of the NYSC objectives of integration, nation building and instiling of discipline, among others in the graduate youths. She informed the PCMs of the Course content which includes meditations, lectures, social and sports activities, drills, skill acquisition, to mention but a few. She hinted that the Course encourages healthy inter-platoon competitions in order to imbue leadership qualities and team spirit in the members. She also enlightened them on religious matters, their various entitlements while on Camp, feeding and the need to adhere to the time table, dresscode, security matters and also on the need to maintain the cleanliness of their surroundings. Speaking on media matters, Abdulwahab warned the PCMs against granting press interviews without the permission of the management of the Scheme. She implored them to put to good use their social media space eschewing all forms of vices and rumour mongering. She urged them to always verify issues and seek clarity on matters related to the Scheme and the service year from the management of the Scheme to avoid misinformation. Abdulwahab further called on the PCMs to handle Camp facilties with care as the management of the Scheme in the State is doing everything in her capacity to ensure the Corps Members enjoy some level of comfort during the Orientation Course. Abdulwahab, who has embarked on various renovation projects in the Camp and also acquired more chairs for use in the hall, water tanks in the various hostels, among others, all in a bid to give the Corps Members a home away from home experience, urged them to take good care of the facilities at their disposal. She commended the PCMs for comporting themselves so far in a disciplined manner, appreciating their doggedness, dexterity and active participation in activities on Camp. She urged them to keep up the good work even as they prepare for their Swearing-in ceremony coming up on Friday. Speaking on health issues, Abdulwahab urged the PCMs to avail themselves of the services at the Clinic. She stressed that the clinic is always open and therefore no Member should hide in the hostel when sick. She implored the PCMs to make their health status known so the Scheme can take care of them appropriately. The briefing also featured the introduction of heads of committees and heads of collaborating agencies on Camp, platoon inspectors and their instructors.

The Ag. Director General of NYSC, Mrs Christy Uba, has declared the 2022 Batch C Stream II Orientation Course Closed. She urged the 1070 Corps Members registered for the service year in Osun State to sustain the spirit of resilience, patriotism and hard work exhibited during the course of the orientation. Uba, who was represented by the Osun State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab made said this at the official closing ceremony of the three weeks Orientation Course for the Batch at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, on Tuesday. She thanked God for the success of the programme and praised the Corps Members for their conduct throughout the Orientation, urging them to sustain the lessons and values which they learned during the course such as patriotism, resilience hard work and selflessness as they move to the next stage of the service year. She reminded them of the oath of allegiance which they swore during the swearing-in ceremony in light of their posting. She told them to accept their posting in good faith and be dedicated in carrying out their duties at their various places of primary assignment. Uba further enjoined the Corps Members to let the NYSC Acts and Bye-laws guide their behaviour at all times and to be good ambassadors of the Scheme, their institutions of graduation and their families. She advised the Corps Members to be security conscious at all times and refrain from visiting isolated places, staying out at night and making unauthorized travels especially at night. She stressed the value of being respectful of the cultures of those in the communities of assignment and urged the Corps Members to avoid engaging in partisan politics and to also refrain from using the social media to spread fake news or hate speech but rather use the internet for self development. The Corps Members displayed the results of their training during the orientation with a vibrant and energetic march past to the awẹ of all present.

Corps Members of the 2022 Batch C Stream 2 deployed to Osun State put up a colorful and eventful display which showcased the rich variation and diversity if Nigerian culture. The parade ground of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede was brightly lit with different colors on Saturday as each platoon was brightly arrayed in the native clothes of the culture which they represented. The State Coordinator Mrs. Olayinka Abdulwahad was welcomed to the High table along with her entourage as they danced to music led by the band dressing in their respective native garb. Speaking on the importance of the Carnival, the Head of Socials, Mr Sesan Fadeyi stated that the cultural carnival was introduced into the programme of the Scheme to bring about integration and appreciation of the nation's cultural diversity by all. According to him, the true beauty of the Nigeria nation lies in her diversity, and this ought to be a source of strength and unity rather than divisiveness. He urged all present to appreciate and celebrate the diverse cultures as displayed by each platoon. He thanked the State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab for the various innovations introduced into the Carnival, and also thanked all Camp Officials for their support for the committee. The platoons came out in a colorful and bright procession dancing and displaying thier culture before the high table and panel of judges. Their presentations featured a variety of dance, music and dress. Members of the OBS presented a playlet which was a message to all Corps Members and officials present of the value, importance and relevance of the Orientation Broadcasting Service as a department in keeping the camp informed and entertained. Members of the Servicom Vanguard saluted the members of the high table with a playlet after which members of the medical team gave an educative talk on the importance and proper use of condoms as a method of contraception. The Quarter Guard accompanied by music from the band paraded before the guests and then the Man O War energized all present with singing, chants and high spirited physical displays as the panel of judges decided on the results for the cultural display. The Carnival was spiced up by a visit from Mr Ibrahim Chatta, a nollywood actor alongside Kamilu Compo the nollywood comedian to the excitement of all present. At the end of the interplatoon cultural display, platoon 9 was awarded the prize for the 1st position by the Camp Director, Mr. Abdullahi Adamu while Platoon 6 and 8 came on 2nd and 3rd place respectively. After all the awards were presented camp officials and the winners of the Inter-platoon cultural carnival celebrated and took photos.
