The story of his life is not told in the book of Ecclesiastes which he wrote. Ecclesiastes is not Solomon's autobiography, so let's not make it what it is isn't.
it is instead told in the book of Kings and the book of Chronicles. In the book of 1 Kings 11, 12, and so on, you read of what he did and how God exerted the punishment for his sins on his sons, stripping them of kingship, after Solomon's death.
Okay Chief

Nope, Solomon died an idol worshipper... sad
Nope he did not he repented in the end.

The ending of the book of Ecclesiastes confirms it as his conclusion. After his search for wisdom and enjoyment of life, he concluded To Fear God, keep his commandments...for it's the duty of a man and God will bring every work hidden or open to Judgement

Oscar Wilde's books are classics. He was an amazing author. I highly recommend The Picture of Dorian Gray. Amazing read.

I think Broadway also stages musicals but I am not particularly fond of musicals though I would visit if someone gave me a ticket. smiley The plays I have enjoyed most reading were Sarah Kane's plays, which are rather dark, gloomy and melancholic. She killed herself at the age of 28 so you can imagine the type of plays she wrote. I read them many years ago. I don't think I could read them again. I was curious about exploring mental illness back in the day but prefer to keep depressing moods away from me nowadays. Not that I have ever struggled with depression myself but I was kind of obsessed knowing why other people would.

Shakespeare wrote many plays too. I enjoyed Macbeth and Othello best but I find the language rather tedious to read. There are some great American playwrights too, Arthur Miller or Tennessee Williams to name some. I have been trying to find African playwrights but they do not seem to be many.
The picture of Dorian Gray, got it, I'll get around to it......sometime

Yes.....Broadway does stage musical, I had completely forgotten sef, funny you should mention musicals, only a few nights ago I decided to listen to The Phantom of the Opera, outta nowhere. I do enjoy musicals, not high school musicals oo. I loved La La Land. The Producers and the likes. As For plays I haven't really read much, I sort of gave up reading for a long time, even the Shakespeare I read I have forgotten them but I liked The Merchant of Venice, also almost everybody's books seems to have been given a moviedeal now e.g The Great Gatsby by Fitzgerald so it seemed redundant at the time to want to read to book. Truth is no matter how great the movie is, it never completely catches the essence of the book. I am partial that Fifty Shades of Grey never did the novel complete justice."

I have not heard of Sarah Kane, if I have I most likely cannot remember. I do appreciate tragedy in plays, it sobers one up. Romeo was too quick to have ended his story as a tragedy, dude should have waited at least 5 mins before offing himself, but I guess that's the point if Juliet had woken up to him by her side, their story ceases to have that dark, gloomy, melancholic ending of Sarah Kane. I think the mind has always been the battlefield and depression one of it's opposing Generals, we no longer have strong people willing to fight for what it theirs, in battles that can only be fought by them. That being said, life really can kick one when one is down.

Ola rotimi is an african playwright, Baba Ogunde(but his may have been in yoruba). I like satires when I understand them

I like novels, historical, romance, inspirational. My favorite writers are Sefi Atta, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Oscar Wilde to name a few. I also like short stories and non-fiction, for example (auto-)biographies. I enjoy plays too and I love seeing them on stage when I get the opportunity.

What about you? smiley
I am only just rediscovering books again, but so far I seem to have a preference for fantasy, murder mystery, fiction (esp about a specific topic) for e.g The book you had mentioned, I am curious to see how Mitch will describe the types of people in heaven, having never been to heaven himself. He must rely on his imaginations, so I like to see how that plays out. I have never read Oscar Wilde but I have read lots of quotes from him. In my experience when a writer has many quotes attached to his name, he probably is a good writer.

C.S Lewis is I think right now my favorite author

As for plays , the only one I know is "The gods are not to blame by Ola Rotimi" and I don't think I have taken much liking to "pages" to completely grasp them..........Is it something similar to Broadway?

I read Tuesdays with Morrie a very long time ago and because I liked it so much I got Albom's other book The Five People You Meet in Heaven. smiley

What seed? cheesy
Oh wow! Really, you must really read a lot then, it's not a very common book I think and you pretty much just recommended a next book for me somewhat.

The seeds are the little idea planted by C.S Lewis in the book to see Aslan(the lion) as Jesus Christ, as a savior, knowing that he is always with them. It also helps to put in moral qualities into children, as knowing right from wrong, it even encourages trusting the Lord(Aslan,Jesus) when nobody trusts or believes you and you are sure to have gotten a message from him.

It is further exemplified in the fourth book of the series: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader when Aslan tells the children that they have to search out his name in their world, as he is known by a different name their world. Which I think simply means if they can know his name in Narnia (Aslan), when the child figures out that Aslan has the same qualities as Christ then,It would be easy for children(us,believers) to trust him. It's also noteworthy that Aslan revealed himself as a Lamb to the children as well.

I believe these are wonderful seeds to insert into a child's mind from the onset, yet the spirituality is covered that the undertones may be discarded and enjoyed as a great fantasy novel read.

Apologies for the long answer

Currently reading
Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom, very quaint in thought provoking manner about aging.

I also just finished The Chronicles of Narnia all 7 books, the fantasy-spiritual approach of C.S Lewis was very much like a seed planted.

He is one of my favorite authors and I like to think an intellectual giant.

Bro, here's what you do regardless of your religion

Whenever you feel the presence of that being, say these words

"It is written, those that call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved,
You wandering Spirit I command you out of this house in Jesus name".

Say those words as many times as you feel that presence, from the first moment you say it you will feel a certain peace around you

Please do it

I always pity these oil-producing states, they receive the short end of the stick.

They have been denied all dividends of having a valuable commodity, in a country where equity, justice and common sense is almost non-existent.
