PoliticsRe: A Great Speech From GEJ by babadee1(m): 4:42pm On Jan 08, 2015
BraveAfrican:
He was pretty objective with the speech...no one can just wave a magical wand & heal a country overnight. Change of the magnitude that people crave takes time. Both GEJ & GMB aren't both ideal in all sense of it but in a neutral light, I'm of the opinion that GEJ is a better of two evils. At least he's got a laid down path to lead Nigeria out of the maze of stagnation --- his government only faults in not communicating their activities enough to the electorate. They (government) have focused more on putting in place policies&structures needed to move the country forward rather than what an average Nigerian can truly see & appreciate but in reality those policies are more needed. I think GEJ shows way more promise compared to GMB....even though we all need&clamour for a change, it should at least be in the right direction.
Nobody is saying he should solve all the problems overnight but under him corruption has reached new levels. Whether you choose to see it or not, corruption is Nigeria's number one problem. Until the corruption problem is solved everything else will continue to stagnate. Corruption cannot reduce in Nigeria under GEJ.

PoliticsRe: Genuine Reasons South-south May Shut Down Nigeria If GEJ Loses. by babadee1(m): 10:28pm On Jan 07, 2015
RedEboe:
If GEJ were lose to Buhari in a 'non-boko haram' Nigeria, NOBODY in the South-South will complain. However, one of the major sore points of GEJ's administration remains the insecurity allegedly created and nutured by the North.

Though some pro-APC regions have chosen collective amnesia, fact remains that some Northern groups did promise to make Nigeria ungovernable if GEJ won in 2011 and it happened.

The average Niger-deltan feels that the North has sabotaged 'their son's' government and many are waiting to see what happens next in 2015.

Truth be told, the crisis in the North-East has not affected the rest of Nigeria's growth because that region contributes little to the Nigerian economy. Same cannot be said for oil in the Niger-delta.

It is unfortunate, but this is a sad reality.

I know GEJ will still win the 2015 elections without these needless threats . But in case he doesnt win, Nigerians should know that these threats are not empty.

My opinion.
What exactly has Jonathan done for the people of the Niger Delta? How can you be happy that "your son" is president when after six years under him your people have gained nothing. Buhari will do a much better job of developing the Niger Delta than Jonathan has done.

You are wrong. your interlocutor knows more than you do. Hacking once again is not rocket science. It is gaining illegal access to another's computer records/details. You can do so by 419 means, like phishing or bribing a weak link at INEC. These people had the tools stated by Ms Ogar. SO are culpable. You are embarrassing yourself by asking another whether they know what hacking is.
You must be joking. They are culpable because they had the tools with no evidence of guilt? It's nonsense thinking like this that makes them arrest innocent young people and accuse them of committing 419 just for carrying a laptop. The woman made an accusation, produced no evidence of guilt and you expect any right thinking Nigerian to believe her?

Did you know that Jose Mujica, the current
president of Uruguay is regarded as the "Poorest
President" in the world?

He earned this title because:

- He lives a very modest and humble life
- He donates about 90% of his 12,000USD
monthly salary to charities that benefit poor
people and small entrepreneurs. This leaves him
with only 775USD a month - the monthly income
of an average Uruguayan
- He lives with his wife (a senator) in a farm on
the outskirts of Montevideo (the capital city of
Uruguay) where they grow flowers for sale.
- He refused to live in the opulent presidential
palace or be attended to by its servants. The only
guards he has are 2 police officers and a 3-
legged dog called Manuela.
- He flies economy class
- He drives an old Volkswagen Beetle (popularly
known as tortoise car)

This man maybe regarded as poor but he feels
very comfortable with peace of mind within and
without.

He says:

"I am called the poorest president, but i dont feel
poor. Poor people are those who work to keep an
expensive lifestyle, and always want more and
more. This is a matter of freedom. If you dont
have many possessions then you dont need to
work hard all your life like a slave to sustain
them, and therefore you have more time for
yourself."

I wish our leaders can emulate the lifestyle of this
man.

Contentment Personified!
Infact, i think he should be referred to as the
MOST CONTENTED PRESIDENT IN THE WORLD
You forgot to mention that this great man is 79 years old and he was 75 when he was first elected as president. Age is nothing but a number. GMB 2015.

Saw this post ...

https://www.nairaland.com/2079606/muhammadu-buhari-us-war-college#29554472

Just got off the phone with Donna Gellert (717) 243-1756 head administrator at the War College.

She said they did not award Buhari a Masters Degree as he claimed. She said they do not check the educational background, and they did not award degrees or certificates in the 1980's.

Buhari attended the seminar, and he graduated that is all.
Every Nigerian should call or email and ask for them to release a statement!
http://www.usawc.org/AboutAWC/ContactUs/tabid/65/Default.aspx
Buhari has never at any time said he had a Masters Degree. Somebody in defending him recently made a claim that the War College program that he passed through is today equivalent to a Masters Degree. That is a subjective opinion and has never been claimed by the General himself.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan- I Built 9 Universities, 50 Almajiri Schools In 20 Months by babadee1(m): 7:32am On Jan 07, 2015
Building more universities only leads to more unemployed graduates. It makes more sense to build vocational training institutes where people can learn a trade and become entrepreneurs. Fix the economy first, create more demand for skilled workers then more universities will make sense, for now it's just window dressing. Band aid approach.
PoliticsRe: It’s Laughable To Claim Buhari Has No School Certificate – APC Chairman, Oyegun by babadee1(m): 8:16pm On Jan 06, 2015
FrankC3:
With the position of APC highest ranking officer on this, I am afraid that the worst is starring us in the face. The reality is this:

1. That the basic requirement for joining Nigeria Military in 1962, as it is today, is still an O'Level certificate.

2. That Mr Buhari did not have the basic requirements for enrolling in the army but 'somehow' got himself enrolled with his knowledge as an adult.

3. That Mr Buhari rose through the rank of the Military, an employer that he should not have joined had he declared that he did not have the employment requirements. Basically, Mr Buhari kept the information on his true qualification status from his employers until he grasped the reigns of power at the highest level.

4. That Mr Buhari's employers - the Military would not have sent him for capacity development trainings had they known that he did not qualify to be with them in the first place.

5. That Nigerians believed Mr Buhari to be a qualified Military officer when he took over leadership of the country by the barrel of the gun, not knowing that he is not even qualified to be an army officer in the first place by the virtue of his lack of requisite qualification.

6.That under Mr Buhari's leadership, Nigerians were flogged openly for indiscipline, not knowing that the man that gave the order is guilty of not only sacking the democratic government in place, but also for not even being qualified to be where he was.

7. That Mr Buhari lied to more than 150 million Nigerians that he had the minimum education to be their President in 2003, 2007 and 2011, lied to the INEC and lied to the Military.

8. That Mr Buhari lied under Oath that his certificates are with the Nigerian Military, it seems however that Mr Buhari does not have even the photocopy of his own credentials.

9. That Mr Buhari and his APC party would want us to neglect all these facts and still vote in Buhari to come and fight corruption.

The PDP is also interestingly quite about this. It could either be that they are so sure of defeating Buhari in 2015 and would not like to rock that chance just yet or they have another game up their sleeve.

Whatever the APC like, they can tell themselves but this is not looking good. It would be bad enough to say that a former President of Nigeria did not have secondary education (I think an equivalent of High School) certificate. It will also be bad to find out how exactly he was able to maintain this lie through his military career.
Very well laid out points but sorry you're entirely wrong about this. The reason the PDP is quiet is because they know there is no case there. They sense a political trap and are reluctant to walk into it. They have done their research and they know that Buhari is constitutionally qualified to contest the elections. No court in the land will disqualify Buhari from contesting on such a spurious basis.
PoliticsRe: On The Decline In Oil Revenue. by babadee1(m): 4:55pm On Jan 06, 2015
J12:
Oil remains the golden egg till diversification begins to take place. We will still be able to sell our oil and gas resources. Global energy demand is very high as emerging economies become more industralized, they need energy.

The Nigerian economy is already diversified (although some sectors are yet to emerge and develop properly). Full development of viable revenue earning sectors will be very difficult because we dont have the resources and systems to enable the growth.
All we have now is oil, we should use it well. That should be our priority.
I respectfully disagree. The problem of this country is that oil has been our priority for too long and by now it's obvious that it is a misplaced priority. For over fifty years we have been depending on oil to the detriment of other sectors especially agriculture. What we could have done instead of spending the oil money away is to have reinvested it in other areas of the economy. Look at Dubai, see what they did with their oil wealth. If their oil should suddenly dry up today they can survive on tourism and retail because they reinvested in those areas. Nigeria has no long term economic plan. To continue as we have been doing all along is not a plan.
PoliticsRe: On The Decline In Oil Revenue. by babadee1(m): 4:20pm On Jan 06, 2015
J12:
Thanks for pointing the manufacturing sector. However, we should be realistic about this, it is virtually impossible for Nigeria to have a manufacturing sector that would be capable of earning us over fifty billion dollars of foreign exchange annually in the next twenty years.

The same can be said about ICT.

Oil and Gas is our golden sector and it will remain that way for years to come. Our oil and gas sectors are not even properly developed and they earn us this much. Forget about it bro.
Guy believe me, if Nigeria does not begin to diversify now and look for alternative revenue streams there will be no Nigerian economy in the next twenty years. The whole world is trying to move away from oil and fossil fuels generally. Our biggest customer U.S. has already cut us off because they are producing plenty of their own oil and gas now. The way things are going within ten years we will have to start drinking that our oil. Something radical has to be done and fast. If we start now maybe we will be ready for a new economy in twenty years time.
PoliticsRe: On The Decline In Oil Revenue. by babadee1(m): 4:05pm On Jan 06, 2015
EasternLeopard:
See the word I used

Other sectors

That is to say collectively they will dwarf the oil and gas sector

Eg Manufacturing and Agriculture if fully developed and exported, the earnings that will be realised will surpass oil and gas

Japan makes more money from manufacturing than Nigeria makes from oil and gas

Malaysia makes more money from palm oil sales ALONE than we make from oil and gas. Now imagine if other agricultural products are fully developed in that country and what it will be contributing.
True talk. And do you know that at independence Malaysia did not know anything about palm oil? They came to Nigeria in 1960 to learn about palm kernel farming and palm oil processing. Today they are number one in the world in producing palm oil and they make more money from it than we make from crude oil. Which way Nigeria?
PoliticsRe: On The Decline In Oil Revenue. by babadee1(m): 3:57pm On Jan 06, 2015
J12:
Mention a sector that is capable of generating more revenues than the oil and gas sector?
Very easy. Manufacturing is one. The entire Chinese economy rests on manufacturing and they are almost catching up with US in terms of the size of their economy. Another example is IT. That is the backbone of the Indian economy today and they're doing very well.

The only golden eggs that we need are the brains that God has given us. China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia etc. All those countries have no considerable natural resources. How did they manage to become economic success stories? By using their God given brains. Human resources is all we need nothing more. In my opinion every state should control their own natural resources and only need to pay taxes to the center. The federal government should begin to focus on developing human resources and policy.

Dude, look into the plaque and tell me what you see, then you wouldn't need a soothsayer before you differentiate between a Masters degree course (Faculty) and a simple military course for international military affiliates which they call International Fellows which an ordinary training certificate of completion is given for trained officers in various divisions like Infantry (IN), artillery (ARTY) Amoury (ARMY), Strategy and training (S&T) and others.
My guy did you go to school at all? Do you know the meaning of faculty? Those people listed as faculty are the lecturers who taught them in that academic session. They were teachers not students. Faculty does not mean Masters degree course in any language in this world. Please stop displaying your ignorance for everyone to see.

YES, THIS IS NIGERIA WHERE IMPUNITY REIGNS, IF RULE OF LAW IS SACRIFICED BY INEC TO MAKE BUHARI CONTEST, JUST ONE PERSON GOING TO COURT, THE COURT MUST NULLIFY WHATEVER GAIN MADE BY BUHARI, INCLUDING HIS ELECTION - IF HE WINS THE ELECTION. CONSTITUTION REQUIRES A CONTESTANT TO PROVIDE HIS SCHOOL LEAVING CERTS, NOT CERTIFICATES FROM MILITARY OR OTHER PROFESSIONAL TRAININGS. OYEGUN KNOWS THIS.
You are wrong about that. The constitution in section 131 subsection D clearly allows for equivalent to school leaving certificate. The military training and other professional trainings do meet that criteria. Kindly look it up before passing judgment.
