Betty1000: Good day Nairalanders,
My fiance proposed to me three months ago. Before that, we were in a relationship for six months. Everything seemed perfect, he has been good to me and I never had any reason to doubt him.
Last week, a friend of mine told me that she heard my fiance has a son and she already verified this information before telling me. At first, I was hesitant until she showed me pictures of the boy, he looks exactly like my fiance. So I decided to go deeper and found out that my fiance is indeed the father of the child.
I confronted him and he accepted that the son is his but he has no relationship with the mother anymore and he planned to tell me before the wedding.
I'm heartbroken because before I agreed to date him, I asked him if he has been married in the past or has children, he said no.
I don't trust him anymore. I feel like I have been deceived because not even his family members told me, I am close to his sister but she never opened up to me.
We have everything planned, in fact, we have our wedding card sent out to everybody. The wedding is in July.
He has sent his friends and family to beg but I don't trust him anymore.
My family has assured me that any decision I make, they would support it.
How do I call off this wedding without going through the embarrassment?
I'm so confused. For real, you are still seeking advice? Dump his asss and move on. Can't you read all the signs, within 6 months he pretended to be mr right and his family members aided him, they are ganging up to trap you with marriage. You will be very surprised after the wedding what they will turn you into, better run while you can. Any man that will hide this from you doesn't love you one bit, he just want a woman that will labour for his son and his family members. |

Tranquility2345: Go and do your homework. The northern part of their country has been having issues with militants as well. Just because you don’t see it on NTA does not mean things are not happening outside Nigeria.
You keep talking about security. Do you know how scared people get during elections or any small kasala? People start going to their villages and Nigerians return home to wait. A country that had 2 civil wars within 20 years. Do you know how many people were given arms during those wars? Where do you think those guns are? Why do you think whites are now living closer to the airport?
You my friend are not qualified to speak when people are talking about comparisons between both countries as you have never seen Abidjan with your eyes. Have you even been to Lagos? Go to Côte d’Ivoire first and then come back and let us know if you still believe that the country is better than Nigeria.
I still wish you all the best when you go there to hustle. Godspeed. You keep ranting about Civil War as if Nigeria never experienced Civil war, let's not even go there, I can't even start listing various ethnic killings across Nigeria is it the Yoruba vs Hausa in shagamu, or Hausa vs Kataf in Kaduna, or Tiv vs Jikum in Taraba etc. Post just one link where unknown gunmen kill 50 people at a go in Cote d'ivoire and I will post 10 different links where over 50 people were killed at a go in Nigeria. Please accept this challenge? Incase you don't know I'm an Immigration consultant, I don't need to be anywhere to get the information I need, the world has moved on, may be you are still in analog age. |

Tranquility2345: You are wrong. Nigeria has the highest FDI inflows in Africa. Nigeria has the largest economy. Nigerian music and movies are idolized in every African country. International businesses make lots of money in Nigeria.
Let me ask you a question. Please don’t take it the wrong way. Have you ever travelled outside of Nigeria? Have you ever befriended people from other African and even developed countries? If you have, then you will know that everyone knows Nigeria to be the giant of Africa.
From the things you write, I do not think you have been to Côte d’Ivoire. Brother, please take a trip to that country. You don’t need a visa. If you go there and come back to repeat what you are saying that the country is miles ahead of Nigeria, then I will know that you must really hate your fatherland. The reason why I haven't traveled out before is because of the illusion of patriotism but I know better now. But everything is in the news... The whole of west Africa in general is poor so let's leave economy aside. Safety and security of lives is the first thing you look out for in any country then Constant electricity. As we speak Cote d'ivoire is ahead of us in these two key areas so how can I believe Nigeria is better. I live in the north, unknown gunmen kill people everyday in Zamfara, Kaduna, Katsina, Niger and Benue and you are talking of patriotism They also kidnap hundreds of students in Public Primary and Secondary schools.. I haven't heard such in Cote d'ivoire before. |

I so much salute your courage.
Sir, please I want to get a information about my program of study as you advice in nairaland that it is only advisable to go for a public school where you can get a full or partial scholarship on your tuition fees.
The University of cyprus Mechanical Engineering and manufacturing department English master taught course is in advanced material and Nano technology, can I be admitted if I apply with HND and also be able to get a scholarship. Can I also use it to study a PhD in Mechanical engineering for further studies in US or Germany or other beneficial EU, if otherwise, please hint me on a better ground of benefit.
Is it also likely that as a HND holder in mechanical engineering I can get the privilege to study oil and gas and energy engineering in University of UNIC with scholarship since it's a private university and is there any benefit for international job opportunities or further study in the US with the masters obtained.
I hope to hear from you to gain more insight even of what am not aware of.
Thank you in anticipation. I also have HND too, my plan is to do HND conversion to BSC in Benin Republic, in two semesters you would be awarded your BSc which you can use to apply for masters anywhere in the world. Everything should not be more than 650K.. |

Tranquility2345: After reading everything here, I have to say that most of you are overhyping Côte d’Ivoire, a country that was ravaged by civil war and just recovering. For you to want to leave Nigeria to immigrate to Côte d’Ivoire to hustle means you have really given up on Nigeria. What a shame. The country was ravaged by civil war buts its largest city "Abidjan" is far more beautiful than Lagos and Abuja put together. They enjoy 24 hours electricity. The enjoy 100% Internal and External Security, I hope you know how many thousands murderers have killed in Nigeria this year alone. They have a very solid labour law, Multinationals companies from Asia and Europe can't maltreat or mess with their citizens. They keep churning out stars in the football world like Dedier Drogba, Yaya Toure, Kolo Toure, Gervinho, Wifred Zaha, Casie etc Cote d'ivoire is far ahead of Nigeria. |

The shock for many who left expecting paradise and soft life is even more, when they land and they can't get a decent job.Pictures like this are key,so that people are reminded to make plans on how they will earn a living before they relocate. If not the person will end up being depressed and may at some point start to regret leaving Nigeria People know the right thing but they don't want to use their brains. Don't immigrate illegally. Developed countries are not stupid, you can't out smart their system, if you don't have the means to immigrate legally just stay behind or else you will end up as a street rif raf and eventually get jailed or deported. Even after immigrating legally you must realise that Every European country apart from UK don't speak English, they have their local languages but Nigerians are too brain lazy, they will go to a foreign land and refuse to learn the local language thereby making it impossible to integrate. Finally learn a skill, people should rid their minds off trading, buying and selling won't take you anywhere in developed countries, learn a rare skill and see yourself excel. |

With all these, racism against the black race can nevet end. I am even apalled at this Don't allow the media hype of fight against racism get to you. Blacks are not ready to be at par with Whites, we just want respect and equality where we have not earned it, if you meet a jobless black man in his 30s or 40s and ask him to put his brain to action and learn a professional skill he will tell you he rather go abroad illegally and do menial jobs or marry an old white granny. How can they respect us like that, you as an individual can only earn some respect if you immigrate to Europe or America legally. And this is the main reason why we experience high rate of visa denials, they need to be very sure that you won't end up like the miscreants above. |

UFO2029: Good evening everyone. I have HND and I can manage to raise 3million Naira. How can I get a visa to Estonia? Is there any university that may accept my HND for a masters' programme? If you have over 5 years professional working experience you can search for universities in Estonia that consider candidates that don't meet the standard and regular requirements for Masters admission, no one will search for you, you have to do it yourself. For example National College of Ireland offers MSC admission to HND graduates with over 5 years professional working experience but studying in Ireland is very expensive, if you don't have a sponsor then you need over 13M to study MSC in Ireland. Another alternative is to go to cotonou and do a HND conversion to BSC in any of their Universities, you get your BSC in less than a year then use it to go masters in Europe, converting your HND to BSC in cotonou should not be more than 600k in total. But 3M is too small now ohhhh, Naira is shitty now, try to double or triple that amount |
