Very sad. This is the same country where they announced a day of prayer (march 15) to curb this spread. This is evidence that prayer IS USELESS. If only trump was more proactive than reactive. Now more and more lives are being lost to one man's (religious) stupidity.

Jeromejnr: BS. Atheism has NOTHING to do with the scientific method. It asserts nothing. It only REJECTS what you have failed to PROVE. Where's the evidence that those events in your write-up existed. I bet NONE. That is exactly why religion is fast losing its relevance in the real world where evidence is everything. Your threats and curses mean nothing. They are merely wishful thinking. |
Petty shameless thieves. Always using some form of threat to shield themselves from normal treatment. Listen Chris, this virus has opened people's eyes, there's no man of God anywhere. If you do anyhow, you will be treated like the mere man that you are. Being a scammer in suit or a pulpit bandit with numerous brainwashed followers will not save you from the whip of the government. These are REAL times. No space for LIES and SUPERSTITION. .

KwaraRat:Let's stop victim blaming. His followers are victims. |
LordReed:Thank you. I agree with all of what you have said. I wouldn't completely agree with the saying that people are insane for believing in God. But yes, a lot of people are really unable to examine how fragile this "god belief" thing is. Especially the Abrahamic ones. The universe can be mind boggling huge and pretty much overwhelming at times and even "intelligent" design (no matter how weak and illogical theists present it) is not a complete misnomer. The really interesting eye-catching thing is..."A god exists and he actually did create the entire universe with all its 'beauty' (so to speak?)p And the best he could do was write books like the Bible, Torah or the Quran??" Lmao As a skeptical atheist, I remain very open to the possibility of getting converted back to theism or deism or pantheism if presented with enough evidence. But one thing I can say is, if a god exists, it certainly cannot be the one defined by the Christian, Jewish or Muslim faith. It just can't. |
malvisguy212:I'm not even going to give a sound reply to that pointless delusional drivel you posted up there. |
Wake up and smell the coffe, people. God does not exist. We are alone in this world. It's 100% our responsibility. This virus is our cross to bear. Religion cannot do shït. FICTION cannot fix REALITY and times like these prove it.

The NCDC are definitely underreporting cases. |
If you have been to church today, in church right now or still going later. Then you're irresponsible, ignorant and you're going to get people, including yourself killed. Serve god in your house will not kill you, or kill god. Or stop you from going to heaven. The virus does not spread by itself. PEOPLE spread it. That's why we advice social distancing. We really don't care when you people still insist on congregating together under one roof doing what nots at this perilous time. The problem is you're going to put the sensible ones in trouble with your lunacy. PEOPLE are going to DIE if this gets out of hand -if it hasn't already. Stay at home. Avoid the crowd. That's how we can contain this virus. There's no vaccine or cure yet. Have mercy on the elderly and immunologically compromised. Do you seriously think yourself more religious than Italy, Spain, US or Germany? |
elated177:This has to be the dumbest piece of shït I have heard all day. Please do not quote me ever again. |
llakes4real:Can I agree less? The average Christian has their life centred around fear! FEAR of god, FEAR of satan, FEAR of demons..FEAR of hell...FEAR of the supernatural FEAR FEAR FEAR!! They cannot think because religion kept them in bondage of FEAR smh |
Jaubdu:That sounds to me.... like ...."I have a feeling you are telling the truth but I have been born into this and it's all I've known all my life. You're trying to convince me and I don't want to be convinced. I'm done." And by the way, if Christianity is not a religion why are you guys not paying tax? Because tax was only exempted for religious institutions. if Christianity is not a religion then all churches SHOULD start paying tax. Right away. What do you guys fill in your forms under the religion section? I bet it's Christianity. But sure you can always deny it when it comes to actual debate with intelligent people. See? You are LYING. Christianity is a Religion. Your intellectual dishonesty is proof that religion does not make people honest or even lovable. It makes you a best mental cowards, incapable of engaging in meaningful discussions and at worst, hateful bigoted extremists. Good day. |
llakes4real:I bet you it's not. How low christian apologists on this forum will go to defend their religion will forever surprise me. |
Jaubdu:Your late father is ONE person. The organisation was ONE organisation. I will tell you what Christianity you called "all about love" did to scientists in the middle ages: THEY BURNED THEM. AT STAKE. Galileo is a popular scientist known for his famous works up till today. What did the Catholic church do to him? Tortured him in prison till he died during the inquisition. For what? For providing evidence that the earth was in motion. The church was known for burning scientists who tried to prove things that were not compatible with the church Bible teachings at that time. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_burned_as_heretics That article deals fully on the actions of the church regarding our brightest minds at that time. I wonder how much more advanced the world will be today if the "religion of love" did not terminate this number of intelligent people. Another one is SLAVERY. Don't even get me started on that one. Religion is NEVER about love. If you think it is, you have been seriously deceived. |
Jaubdu:OP I know this may sound strange to you but the truth is that it has always been about the money. Religion was never invented for the purpose of bettering people's lives. Yes, it can be used for that purpose. But that was not the main intent. Religion's main purpose is to CONTROL. That's why there is a popular quote that says "religion is the opium of the masses." It was meant to take power from everyone and give it to a few. This allows for easier control of the masses by the "elite." Taking a look at history we can easily verify this. There's also another insightful quote that says; "Religion is TRUE to the foolish, FALSE to the wise and USEFUL to the rich." It is useful to the rich because it keeps the poor under control. It keeps the poor from consuming the rich. If you think the church or any other religion out there would actually WANT to help people(especially unbelievers) in times like these then you're under some grave misapprehension. I'm sorry, you have been deceived. Religion was never meant for such. |
elated177:Thank you @delishpot. Your question has been answered. But I don't see why you deem it fit to particularly ask Atheists, what caused or how thunder and lightening came into existence. That is a question for Physicists, Environmental/weather scientists or perhaps, geologists. Atheists, are not required to have answers to these things. We are not walking dictionaries. We only disbelieve in all gods, including yours. That's just it. |
dawnomike:If that is the case then why are Christians preaching? If those that did not hear the gospel are going to heaven. Then why are Christians trying to reduce their chances by making them hear it (preaching?). Are you guys evil? |
The world will never be the same after this pandemic. The virus also will likely not become eliminated. It only would become less lethal and become yet another common/season respiratory illness. Brace up, people. COVID-19 is here to stay.

Let's flip the coin. Shall we? ![]() What persecution have Christians given to others since they gave their life to Christ? 1. Invading personal spaces. Jehovah witnesses and other sects of preachers disturbing people in their homes. Imagine how painful it is when you have insomnia and you managed to get some hours of precious sleep only for one idiot to wake you up by knocking cos they want to preach Jesus. 2. Preaching in buses and at traffic stops: ok apart from being utterly ridiculous, this one is just a pain in the butt. Ain't it.. imagine embarking on a 4- hour bus journey and then you have a Bible humper on board. Preaching from the start to the end. Luckily they alight early or you're in for one LOOOOOONG ride, literally. 3. Threatening others with hell fire at any given opportunity: Not only is this scary, it is especially arrogant. I'm seriously worried about the psychological states of those that do this. Imagine feeling comfortable telling others that they would burn in an eternal fire. And telling them to accept that god that would send them to hell without batting an eyelid. Seriously Christians stop persecuting others with your place of external suffering. It makes you come across as a sadistic psychopath. 4. Passing biblical morals into law: ok fine we get it...you love your book so much you even dry hump it at times.. but tell us why the rest of us should guide our lives, COMPULSORILY, by your book? Why should we criminalize homosexuality, abortion and certain forms of dressing simply because a fairytale book says so? That's what your book is to a lot of us (3.5+ billion people actually). So...CHRISTIANS, Stop PERSECUTING US! #Satire |
Haha time shall tell The US declared March 15 as a day for national prayer over COVID-19. They're now the country with the highest cases. Italian priests kept visiting sick homes to pray for Coronavirus victims. Now more priests have died than even doctors. Time will prove who is right. Whether Superstition or Reality. Whether Religion or Science. Time will tell.
|
It is simply because the concept of Prayer, itself is stupid and is one of the (many) things a lot of theists don't sit to think about. So you serve an all-knowing, omnipotent god who knows all what you want but just wants to hear you beg for it? The concept of Prayer itself, leads one to conclude that the Christian or Muslim god if he exists, is a total sadist. Prayer is OBVIOUSLY USELESS and nothing more than wishful thinking. As people of ALL religions can attest to having their prayers answered, including those with ridiculous gods like the flying spaghetti monster. Even Atheists have wishes that come true some of the time. Prayer does nothing rather than make you feel better about doing nothing. No drowning Christian would take prayers over an actual life boat. The US declared March 15 as a day of prayer over COVID-19 all over the country. They are now the country with the highest cases of the virus. Prayer is the single most ridiculous thing about all religions. It is therefore no surprise why NO meaningful discovery or breakthrough has been made solely by praying. Wake up and smell the coffee guys, Prayer is USELESS, Religion is A LIE.

So a theist FINALLY exposing atheism for what it is: *drumroll* myopic reasoning. Let's see the proof they have for their god existing this time.Oh wait it's not a post that proves god just another pointless drivel riddles with ad-hominems and all sorts of strawman and nonsensical religious platitudes ![]() This is going to be fun Jamesrock:YES. So far I haven't seen any religion including Christianity trying to develop a cure OR AT LEAST a vaccine for COVID-19. Actually, reverse is the case, as most countries have shut down religious centres in a bid to limit the spread of the virus. Hmm...it seems everyone including the religious are waiting for scientists to do their thing. Then why would it be deluded to thank the health workers for their efforts if a cure is developed? Do you have a problem with giving thanks to whom it is due? Jamesrock:Yes, but surprisingly, these religious scientists put religion aside when they are working. They make use of the scientific method and not the religious method. It's just like they know when and how to separate fairytale from reality. I challenge you to present any invention that was solely inspired by praying/meditating/any other religious method. Jamesrock:This is a very stupid analogy. A lot of civilization in the West and Europe was mainly due to the efforts of slavery. And the fact that slavery is now viewed as an immoral concept does not mean that they have to demolish the structures they built due to the efforts of slaves. The fact that religion pioneered certain scientific discoveries or build schools does not automatically mean that religion is true or that religionists are justified. This is a very silly argument that appeals to a very ridiculous logical fallacy. Jamesrock:At least you accept that atheists are law-abiding. That shows that INDEED some people do not need your silly mythological religious books to behave normally. Atheists are capable of determining right and wrong and acting so, based on truly altruistic values. Which is obviously far better than relying on a book that was written in the dark ages where we all thought the Earth was flat and also didn't know where the sun went at night. Jamesrock:If you need a book where stuff like slavery, misogyny, homophobia, genocidal cleansing, paedophilia etc is termed ok to tell you what is right and wrong then you are a STUPID RELIGIOUS IDIOT. If you need a book written by goat herders in the ages where ignorance was the norm, to tell you the difference between good and bad then you're not a good person. You are merely a psychopath on a leash. Jamesrock:What is your basis for deciding that stoning people to death for working on the Sabbath is wrong? I'm sure you don't, but your Bible says you should. What is your basis for deciding that killing little children is wrong? Your Bible highlights a lot of scenario where it would be perfectly justified to kill a child. I know a lot of Muslims who are fine with seeing and even communicating with people who don't believe in Islam. Where is the basis for (most) Muslims to decide not to kill Christians and Atheists? The Qur'an specifically permits Muslims to kill all non-believers. It almost seems like we all (well the sensible majority) know what is right and wrong even without reading all these perverted so-called "holy" books. Hmm....maybe morality is something more than what religious folks would have us believe innit Jamesrock:Why are you mentioning a few? Do you need help? You're welcome, more disadvantages: Paedophilia, Slavery, Rape, Domestic violence, Misogyny, Child marriage, Genocidal cleansing, Child abuse, Scientific ignorance, Honour Killings, Apostasy, Poverty promotion, Cult-like behaviour, Massive brainwashing, Racism, Tribalism, Animal cruelty, Environmental degradation ETC Jamesrock:The disadvantages of religion far outweigh the advantages. I challenge you to tell me any benefits that can be obtained by religious means that cannot be obtained by non-religious means. Jamesrock:Nonsensical egostical religious platitude. Jamesrock:We also "pray" and keep our hopes alive that our friends who are under the God delusion would use their brains one day, open their eyes and throw in the towel that the God claim is a myth. Jamesrock:I don't know but I'll tell you WHAT RELIGION has contributed to all spheres of the world Terrorism, Corruption, Extremism, Paedophilia, Slavery, Rape, Domestic violence, Misogyny, Child marriage, Genocidal cleansing, Child abuse, Scientific ignorance, Honour Killings, Apostasy, Poverty promotion, Cult-like behaviour, Massive brainwashing, Racism, Tribalism, Animal cruelty, Environmental degradation and so on. Jamesrock:Do you really want to know? Take a look at countries with high population of atheists like China, Russia, Japan, Germany, Australia. And compare it with highly religious countries in both population and law like Nigeria, Yemen, Bangladesh, Niger, Afghanistan, Egypt, Brazil. If these do not tell you anything, nothing else will.

malvisguy212:Dem don come Pastor foot soldiers will defend anything. |
I'm renouncing my atheism. The God of T.B Joshua is the one I shall now serve. A God of promise and deliver. Said 27th of march and so it was. My fellow atheists, we shall now renounce our disbelief and believe in the only true God. The God of SCOAN. AMEN. |
I bet the total number of people tested in Nigeria is under 500. If we have 70 positive out of 500 people that's more than a 10% ratio of infected to tested. More than 1 in ten people. In Lagos we have 20 million people at least. Do the math. Nigerians are sleeping on a bicycle. A lot of people still think this is a joke. We think we have weeks to prepare when it's actually days. Time will tell.
|
Stuff like these prove only one thing: PEOPLE ARE STUPID. Don't be surprised it would be the congregation who are supposed to ask questions would be the ones making excuses on his behalf. Religion poisons everything. |
blessedlibra:I'm thankful to myself. |
paxonel:So your dictionary that said atheism is a disbelief, now twisted it as a "doctrine" which also means belief. So atheism is a belief and disbelief at the same time? That's a very intelligent dictionary isn't it lol.... Smh at least you accept that there are TWO definitions of Atheism. Actually, there are many of them. But it mainly boils down to two. 1. Weak Atheism 2. Strong Atheism Weak atheism is not a knowledge claim. It is a "disbelief" claim. (Or more correctly a rejection of a belief claim) Q: Do you believe in a god? A: No I don't. Simple. 1. Weak atheists don't necessarily "believe" there is no god. They are in a position where belief is not warranted. Mainly because theists do a ridiculous job of providing evidence for any of their gods. And also because it's illogical to disprove what has not been proven in the first place. 2. Strong Atheists: This one is what you have been trying to put all other atheists under because of your lovely dictionary. Lmao Strong atheists are usually tagged explicit atheists mainly because they actively profess a belief that no gods exist. These ones would argue even with weak atheists that gods can be proven to not exist. Sure. When speaking, I could say "Your god does not exist" what matters now is the CONFIDENCE level of that claim. Weak atheists have a lower confidence level when they assert that gods do not exist. They only disbelieve because there's no evidence from theists. They are also called Pragmatic atheists or Agnostic Atheists. Strong atheists have a higher confidence level when they assert the same (they believe and can argue so). They're also called Explicit atheists or Gnostic Atheists. So there I fixed it for you.
|
paxonel:I think that you're dishonestly ignoring one definition because it does not suit your narrative. @the bolded, Point to me where the dictionary said there are beliefs in atheism. If you cannot then you're dishonest. |
