I grew up around the canal area in Ajegule. My secondary school classmate's father disappeared in a very tiny portion of the canal. He was trying to save a child that fell from his mother's back into the canal. Himself and the child were never seen again. The canal portion was so small and narrow that one could easily jump over. Plus it was clogged with silt and sediments! Further consultation revealed that he did not die but was taken and the child was used as bait. |
All Nursing and Medicine courses are in German. Your German must even be up to C1 level. |
janettee:There are even black or mixed children that are born and bred in Germany, speaks German at mother tongue level and still gets discriminated! |
damtan:Bonn is way better for you. |
Permit me to derail a bit. Why not try Germany? ICT is HOT cake here with fantastic pay. He doesn't even need to learn the language to get an ICT job upon graduation. Also, the money he wants to budget for fees in the UK or Ireland can be used for his upkeep (blocked account) for 1 year in Germany because tuition is free here. He is also entitled to apply for a family reunion visa for you and the children. ICT students get a very nice student job even while studying. Even if he doesn't want to stay in Germany upon graduation, he can then decide to apply for ICT jobs in the UK or Ireland, which will be a piece of cake. You guys can check daad.de for ICT courses in Germany. Applications into universities in Germany are ongoing. There is a cybersecurity course at Brandenburg Technical University, Cottbus for your consideration. |
CliffDike:Shut your trap |
Apart from the drainage underneath, the road has a very thin layer! Apparently it looks like ordinary coal tar was just poured on sand. Quite pathetic. |
Hmmmm, nobody will prefer to go back to Nigeria in this Covid-19 era. |
tunapawizzy:With a Sponsorship Letter, it may be difficult to approve the visa. This is because a parent student needs a larger accommodation for her and her child, higher cost of health insurance and other bills like kitas and feeding. But it is worth a try sha. |
tunapawizzy:Yes you can. However the amount for your blocked account will be way higher. |
Mac2016:Actually it is you that is the Ignoramus. The Bible and Koran were ancient books that doesn't realise the genetic implications of inbreeding. The royal families of Europe suffered from this acts. Diseases like Hemophilia, Sickle cell anemia and the popular Harpsberg Jaw was as a result of inbreeding. A simple Google search will clarify all these your ancient way of life. |
Your writing skill is impressive! |
Nice write up, however some of your points are not valid anymore. 1. The current amount for blocked account has increased to 10,500€. 2. Houses in East Germany are cheaper and more affordable. However lesser jobs. 3. It's very important that you learn German even before you arrive here. Learn it up to A1 level at least else you may be frustrated. Most of the less stressful and lucrative jobs may require you to speak German to a certain level. 4. If you have a choice, avoid East Germany. |
Focusmind:Well, can you guaranty the security of your life and that of your family in Nigeria? Can you guaranty quick response of the fire service in case of fire in your home? Can you guaranty a quick and fast ambulance in case of health emergency for you or your kids? Or even if you make it to the hospital can you guaranty adequate healthcare? |
Like many people have said, my regret is not leaving immediately I rounded up my youth service. I was so keen on living and making it in Nigeria that I started my business during NYSC in 2015, you can check my profile to verify. It was not until I got scammed and the Police demanded huge sums of bribes and 10 percent of my money if recovered that I realised that Nigeria was not for me. I eventually worked as a bank teller and I faced all kinds of discrimination because of my HND certificate, despite graduating with distinction. I took the bold decision to relocate to Germany in 2018 as a student and so far it is the best decision I have ever taken. The things I have achieved in 1 year living here and doing student jobs is more than what I achieved in 5 years living in Nigeria. My advice is if you can, migrate legally to developed western countries else you will be going in circles in Nigeria. Nigeria is favourable only to the rich not the middle class. |
princejayy:Tuition in public universities is free. There are jobs for students too. |
Start applying for Masters scholarships in countries like Germany, Canada, USA, Australia etc. There is a shortage of skilled professionals in Germany especially in the STEM sector. Do not limit the scope of your future to only Nigeria. |
funnix:I am in the same situation. My wife used her maiden name to apply for appointment. But I guess this shouldn't be a problem provided that all relevant documents and the Lawyer's verification is positive. Also, adopting the hubby's surname is a matter of agreement between couples and not compulsory. But the experts in the house can shed light this issue, my conclusions are based on assumptions. |
CalebCC:Yes, I used NECO |
Hello people, I am a student residing in Bonn, Germany since October 2018. I went back home last year August to tie the knot with my fiancee, now my wife. She has applied for family reunion visa however I read somewhere that my duration of residence in Germany will be considered and that I must have spent 2 years here before she can apply for family reunion. Also, she applied for appointment using a passport carrying her maiden name. Can she change the passport to include my surname? And probably go with both on the date of interview? She applied in September and we are yet to get interview date. Thanks. |
Alore:-3 in Bonn, Germany and still dropping. |

oz4real83:Good point. Here in Germany, DHL is government owned and it is the best and cheapest. |

And some people will come here and say that relocating abroad with your family is not justifiable. Ordinary lack of electricity has snatched away the life of this poor child. Just know that even if you are rich in Nigeria, the life of you and your family is not secured. |
lastmessenger:Pray that you or any of your family members do not have a health crisis in the middle of the night, or a fire incident. Then you will realise that your large money will not guarantee prompt arrival of an ambulance or fire service. This country is a joke. Presently in Germany and sometimes I weep when I realise that the things considered as basic human rights here are privileges in Nigeria. If you can, get out fast for the sake of your unborn kids. |
The media should stop substituting "Fulani Herdsmen" with the word "armed bandits". They are the same! |
jerryunit48:Germans type of racism is the subtle type. They can not abuse you openly unless when drunk. They respect their laws here to the fullest. |
Terrible |
What of Nigeria |
Don't even attempt Poland. Your chances of getting a visa despite your admission is 1%. They reject even study visa. Secondly, Poland is a poor country and even their citizens are many here in Germany. I have several Polish colleagues where I work in Berlin and they complained of low jobs in Poland. There is a GIS course at University of Potsdam (30 mins train ride from Berlin) that you may want to check out. You can make as much as 1000 euros monthly as a student here in Berlin. |
Apply for courses related to IT, engineering etc. Learn Deutsch up to at least B2 while studying (most schs offer free language classes). Get good grades and try to do an internship before graduation as it will build your work experience. You can apply for PR after working for 2 years with your masters. But the language is key! |
