but what of the one who shot JFK? He was assassinated while in police custody. Politics is dirty, thats all.
He was not shot by police. He was shot by the mafia. Or should our police be like the mafia? |
Hmm. I think the fact that the North has decided to seclude itself from the rest of the country makes has already killed the regional govt idea. To show the gap between Southern and Northern thinking at least, one ex Borno state govt official was a member of Boko Haram http://www.africasia.com/services/news/newsitem.php?area=africa&item=090731161920.qtqhn0rh.php This dude resigned from govt because Sharia in Bornu is not intense enough! |
idupaul:It puts us in the stone age!
[li]Catch suspected criminal[/li] [li]Try him (if possible, expedit)[/li] [li]Hang him[/li]
. . .Simple as 2 + 2 or ABC, laws have been followed. What has been done has shamed us World wide, it is a disgrace. |
isiegbe:Exactly! Don't we have the death sentence that we can use to follow process? At least, one ex Borno state govt official was a member of Boko Haram http://www.africasia.com/services/news/newsitem.php?area=africa&item=090731161920.qtqhn0rh.php |
babapupa:I have never been anti Yoruba. However, it isn't hidden that I have said words against OPC for a particular stance. Lets not twist things. I can even see you babapupa as a MEND general. ![]() Now, in all seriousness, what do you think is the way out for the South. Nigeria as a nation is currently only held together by brute force and misplaced sentiment. |
last time I checked, Bakassi is in Cameroon. OPC never said they werent the same as MEND.
You never heard of Bakassi boys in the Igbo states? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakassi_Boys |
soloqy:Boy! You are really beginning to sound weird. |
Nigeria is racked by bad and corrupt leaders, ethnocentrists and Islamic fundamentalists who will kill even babies. The adoption of sharia by 12 states in the North has led to the intensification of religious conflict and thrown thrown the differences in culture between South and North in stark and shocking colours. We do not belong in the same country. Perhaps due to the sharia leanings of the countries leaders, the operations of the police and army reflect the style of Islamic militants. Civilians are killed in cold blood, whole towns and villages are wiped off the map in revenge attacks. 11,000 have died in religious riots in the North. 11,000? And we are not at war? Why do these riots and pogroms always catch fire in the Muslim North, why are there none in the West with its 10 million Muslims? South and North are as different as oil and water. Isn't it time for all of the South to join with MEND and begin to make something of our country? There will be no lack of support from the likes of the US and China. Nigeria's huge Muslim population is a perfect target for Islamists because she supplies a lot of oil to the US and China and the levels of poverty, deprivation and illiteracy in the North are jaw dropping. Aside from the internation disgust we are now reaping; was the killing a miscalculation? Afterall the fools now have a "matyr". We are problably seeing the birth of something really frightful, maybe suicide bombers next, afterall Police claimed victory over this same group in 2004 and here we are in 2009 talking Boko Haram.

The killing was disgusting and barbaric. Here in the West, the stories in the press about Nigeria have turned cringe worthy after all the symathy of the past few days. What was the gain? Don't we have a death penalty? There are intelligent and lawful ways of achieving goals. Our army and police are also very good at killing civilians. Should they be shot in cold blood like this? Only jackals behave like this. |
![]() @OP. How does sitting on mats or wearing dashiki make people less civilised. Sometimes, people say incredibly stupid things. In this case, you are expressing racism and hatred. Sick thread. Hisses, walks out. |
Yes. The man was killed to hide his backers. His backers are more dangerous, expect a new, revitalised Boko Haram. They have been popping up under different names since 2002. |
The Western press is shocked at the way the man was killed. Nigeria has just gone down another dark alley. If you ask me, he was killed so he wouldn't spill the beans on his backers.
|
@Tudor. Two things; don't make weird claims, don't mix sentiment and logic. |
"Yar'Adua's comments inadvertently underscored what a potent threat the militants and their methods may yet pose. And past experience in Nigeria suggests one military operation, however ruthless, will not be enough to eradicate them. In fact, the radicalisation of a minority of Nigeria's 70 million Muslims, roughly half the population, can be traced back to the decision in 2000, by 12 of the 36 states, to more strictly enforce sharia law. The effects are still being felt. . . In 2003, Osama bin Laden singled out Nigeria as an area of special interest for al-Qaida's destabilisation agenda and the following year the so-called Nigerian Taliban first emerged". . . In a later interview with the BBC, Mohammad Yusuf, Boko Haram's enigmatic leader, said he believed western-style education was contrary to Islam and "spoils the belief in one God". Yusuf went on: "Like rain. We believe it is a creation of God rather than an evaporation caused by the sun that condenses and becomes rain. Like saying the world is a sphere. If it runs contrary to the teachings of Allah, we reject it. . . The radicalisation is mixed with a deep sense of grievance against the south. . . naijaking1:Exactly! |
davidylan:Thats a mean twist. What is going on in Gaza is the same sort of apartheid that went on in South Africa, the Palestians are victims of the Jewish state. . . Back to Boko Haram. |
Robotnik:You've hit on part of the problem. There are people up North who are stinking rich, but deliberately keep the masses uneducated and ignorant. To make matters worse (or explosive), they ply them with religion so they can be subservient and not question the status quo. Well, some of these people begin to develop crazed interpretations of Islam and everything blows up. Northern culture of divide and rule is to blame. It is backfiring. |
I don't care about his looks or health. What concerns me is the way he is sleepwalking the country from disaster to disaster. |
BOMANY:Firstly, I'm interested in the benefits of Islam or Christianity. The question I have is; what Afghanistan has to do with Nigeria? Why should any Nigerian be influenced by events there or by Osama Bin Laden? Why is it only Muslims in the North that get negative influences that lead them to kill. It is something that has happened repeatedly. |
The Boko Haram saga and cold blooded shooting of its leader in custody, would have been reported in Nigerias news agencies as foreign news. Nigeria would have built a wall along the border for security reasons to keep out suicide bombers. There would be huge agricultural surpluses, because the arable areas of the east and (new) North would be opened up to both rail and road transport. The same would go for Cocoa areas in the West. The ports in neighbouring Benin, Togo and Ghana would be in danger of closing because of the high levels of efficiency in Warri and Lagos ports. Obudu Ranch would become a proper tourist attraction. The economy would expand to include high tech, manufacturing, services and oil. The Niger Delta exploitation would end and the people would be seen as equal humans by the rest of the country. There would be no need for MEND. Fashola will be the first president. The price of beef would rise. ![]() I could go on. . . |
bibiazim1:All religion is bleeped up. But the thing with Islam is that, its extremists alway seem to be very violent fanatics. It has happened several times, over and over again. |
Now there is good enough reason and example to "wipe off" any village/community in the Niger Delta even at the slightest provocation.
You are a fool. There really is no reason for Nigeria to remain a nation. Maybe you are suggesting that Maiduguri, maybe even all the Northern states that were affected be wiped out? Bastard, does that sound sensible? |

MrCrackles:Wikipedia gives an even earlier time than 2003 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boko_Haram |
The group has benn known sinse 2003. In 2004 they went on a killing spree, the is their second outing. It is thought that the only reason why nothing has been done about the group all this time, is that a lot of "big mens" children are involved; they don't want to embarass anybody in the oligarchy. |
Diversity is detrimental to development. It has been proven over and over. Clinging to one Nigeria is all just sentimental. We have never sat down to talk about the basis of our co-existence, so there is no basis for the nation. We are really only bumbling from low to lower low. Why force things? http://www.econ.upf.edu/~reynal/jde_marta_jose.pdf |
nex:Bullshit! Ask yourself the clever question; is there anything in Delta state that was built with Ondo money and belongs to the FG? Anyway, you know Delta people don't waste time talking. Fashola made a mistake, which has been quietly corrected. |
Stop discussing a patently false list! Lets be serious. The picture below is from the front page of the website that provided this so called list. It cannot be quoted as a reputable source. http://www.xclusivenigeria.com/
