I want to appreciate everybody for taking part in the poster's academic project. However, I want to plead with all to join him in your prayers that God soften the heart of the VC.

Despite countless pleadings going on, the VC is adamant in changing his stance. Although he has very good points for maintaining his stand. He said that after the first registration exercise ended, he gave a grace of an additional one month extension to consider people struggling but the students didn't take it serious. He went further to state that the students brought whatever is happening now upon themselves because of their actions last session. They distrupted the peace of the university despite not paying fees (he gave a detailed explanation of what happened which I can't type, too long).

I hope that very soon, he will be touched to shift position.

greatgod2012: There is no sane parent that wouldn't have properly guided their kids before allowing them to take decision. In essence, I'm not saying that they shouldn't be counseled when they are taking decision, but after counseling and proper upbringing, they need to be left alone to grow up and remain up, to take decision and face the consequences. If for any reason, any child decide to go against the good upbringing of his/her parent, I think IMO, such a child should be left to face the consequence. By 18 years of age, our children should be independent, they must have been exhibiting the good upbringing that has been imparted into them by allowing them to take some independent decision.
Just my opinion anyway!
May God help us all.
I agree completely...

J3da: Such dads and hubbys r rare, but if you know your dad is the best den do your poem n dedicate it to him
Do you understand the depth of the word "rare"? You are telling me that such dads are only one out of a million in a sample space. If that is your deduction, it is a big lie bro.
My dad may not have been a good dad to me but it is not enough reason to say such dads are rare because I see such dads around me a lot. They are not rare. As much as I love my mum and all mothers, we tend to overbloat their efforts to discredit the men as if they are completely useless in catering for their kids.

No matter how bad you think your dad is, you wouldn't be where you are today without his little efforts in your life. In addition, every parent is only fulfilling their divine constitutional roles. I do not believe parents are doing their children any favour because the children did not plead to come to the world.

Meanwhile, I love my mum with passion. She is an epitome of a virtuous woman.....

greatgod2012: This thread is an eye opener!

Good parents will allow their sons(children) to "grow" up and best parents will allow them to remain up.

In essence, if you really love your children, leave them to take some decisions on their own and let them learn from the consequences of the outcome of the decisions taken, be it good or otherwise.

Not allowing them do this is tantamount to not allowing them to grow up.
And if you don't allow them to grow up, they will forever remain kids, which is one of the major reasons we have "mummy boys"as husbands and daddy girls as wives these days.

Therefore, I'm appealing to everyone not to just read or go through this thread as mere entertainment, but as lessons to learn from.

May God help us all.
Some decisions if taken on their own can mar their destiny. It is better children are counselled in taking good decisions. As parents, once we can identify the end of such decision, best bet is to look for real and practical examples of those who thread such path to let them see the end. It is better they become bitter against us for not allowing them take such decision than allowing them to become an eternal regret. Sooner or later, they will appreciate the effort.

However, as you rightly said, they should be given freedom to take independent decisions. The grooming starts from childhood by nurturing them in the way to go so when they are old, we will have peace that they will most times do what is right.

Since the story is fiction and meant for educating single ladies, I will also drop one piece of advice.

Love (emotional feelings) is not enough reason to marry somebody. Infact, love should even come strongly after the marriage, Love who you marry but prior to it sync your head with your heart in taking good decision.

I hate it when people say I love him/her so much despite seeing obvious reasons that the person will make their life a living hell. Excuse, he/she will change, he/she loves me too....

If your tale is genuine, I wish you well in your endurance if you can't take right decision glaring you in the face..... May God give you grace and strength not to collapse under depression.

If my memory serves me right, two-three seasons ago, Arsenal played BVB in the Champions' league group stage with a depleted and injury laden team, yet BVB was beaten. The BVB team beaten was the defending bundesliga champion.

Life is not a straight line graph. It is full of ups and downs, so you should understand that.

A life with greatness must surely pass through fire to become refined. Have you taken time to read about the struggles and pursuits of Abraham Lincoln before he became the president of USA?

Above all, seek the Lord in spirit and in truth, you will live a joyful life amidst trials and challenges. It is well with you

Family › Re: For Ladys. Ways On How A Man Can Respect His Wife by bellong: 8:07am On Oct 21, 2013
[quote author=Joel.]there is a saying that goes like this. whoever is looking for respect should first go look for money. it sound harsh but thats the truth.

when a man is eating a nice and tasty free food from a women he has gotten no one naira on it, he is kinda of respect her alot more and listens to all her words. talking from observation. respect is deferent from love so dont mixed the two. but if the man love the woman before hand then good. love plus respect for her. although there a quite number of men who can love a woman just for a free meal.

advise, as a woman when you contribute money to your marriage. your hubby is kinda of respect you alot. but when you ask every money from him even for maggi, BOYS dont respect such women at all. such BOYS can shout on a women when they cant find any cook meal to eat in their kitchen.

the opposite of this is when a man contribute less or nothing at all in their marriage he kinda of lost it all big time..

money is power. so dont put yourself down go get money and impress someone you will be respected for all. so ladys what are you waiting for? asking a guy for everything you need you while you lost it. i hate it when a girl cannot call untill you send airtime. why sending her airtime then since you can just use it to call her better.

if its for a main time or you kinda of understand the situation around he or she. good to understand for me. i whouldnt mind but if she is making it like its my duty to do everything because i sm the man, a turn off for me.

are you still standing there? what are you waiting for.

Bombaybombay: Please dont get me wrong, i didnt post on NL cos am in search of solutions, u know whenever i raise this issue with hubby he says its my job to do them so i should stop complaining, bin dat my marriage is fresh and i was brought up with maids am trying to live with it, am trying to get used to it, i only posted ere cos i bliv there is a mother and wife somewhere who lives like this and would probably encourage me to live with it. Cos me for one am beginning to wonder why women are assigned to sooooo many roles in the home and we also work jobs like the men.
I would rather you seek for solution than looking for encouragement to suicide. Doing all these alone is a gradual process of committing suicide. May God give you the grace and strength you seek.
Family › Re: Woman!!!!!! by bellong: 8:01am On Oct 21, 2013
@Op,

Contrary to what you wrote here, no woman is expected to become a slave to her husband. Marriage is meant for the two parties to be help-meets and not a parasitic relationship. It is a symbiotic relationship.

That being said, the only thing I believe your husband can't help you with is breast-feeding. He needs to understand that what actually create bond between a child and parents (either mother or father) is the overall care given from birth till adulthood. There is no law that says men can't change diaper or can't/shouldn't babysit their children. I wish he understands the importance of being part of the child's life and not only putting money down but expressing his love to the child by being part of her life.

Considering your last thread, I want to assume that he is probably leaving you to do all these on your own because of the unresolved issues you have. As noted by other people, please find someone he respects to intervene in this situation before the story becomes a touching one. Stress is a slow and painful killer.

shooze: Serubawon I wish you a happy married life. Read the whole thread this night and I am inspired. I do not mean to derail the thread but I feel I can get good advice here which I may not get if I start a thread. I am presently depressed and confused. I have had series of relationships they would usually start out well then fizzle out. I am basically a very nice person when I love someone even if its just a friend I can give mh eyes out. An ex told me I was too nice and that's why he ended it . I have tried following all the rules and read every book on dating but I don't know what else to do. I just ended a relationship this evening because I felt It was a little too one sided I.e. I did more of the visiting and all and he sometimes acted like I was bother. I am open to any suggestions and I am willing to answer any questions and accept any changes .
Do not be troubled over the people who don't deserve to have you. Keep being good at what you do and the right man will find you soon. Wouldn't you rather thank the Lord that those guys leave early than becoming a pest in your life when you finally tie the knot.

Look ahead, there are better days. Do not let pressure push you to become who you are not. Finally, be patient, take your time and a good man will locate you in God's time.
