Maybe i didn't read the part you mentioned it. Between, I am very poor with remembering birthdays. What I do now is that I keep reminding myself everyday that my birthday is 29th October. I do this because it is also my wedding anniversary, so madam doesn't get angry for my short memory of date..... grin grin

Family › Re: Marriage Things: I Am So Confused, Please Advice by bellong: 11:54am On Oct 08, 2013
nickxtra: one, how do I develop a strong love for a woman I think I should marry?
Contrary to popular and erroneous belief about Love, Love is not a feeling or emotions. It is a decision. For the girl to at least get your attention in asking her out, it is obvious there is an evidence of attraction to her. What you need do is to study her and see if you can live with her character and attitude. Assess her overall qualities and weigh what you can live with and what you can't. If your assessment qualifies for what you can live with for the rest of your life, then you can start working on yourself to be the ideal husband to her. With time, you will get to like and develop the feelings missing now.

nickxtra: Two, will you not consider it better for me to finish my school and get a better job before marrying?
Yes, I agree that you have a better job that can at least cater for your needs before marrying the girl. I am not saying you have to wait to get a high paying job but one that the pay is decent enough to cater for your household. Meanwhile, it doesn't stop you from building on the relationship.

nickxtra: Thirdly, do I really need an elaborate wedding, like some of my friends did?
Comparing themselves by themselves, they are not wise. One disservice we do to ourselves is to compare ourselves with others. Your friends had the means for an elaborate wedding, you do not have the same circumstance and so cannot operate under the same condition. Whenever you are ready for the marriage, do it according to what you can afford. Marriage itself starts after the owanbe ceremony, infact I do not count as too important the celebration celebrated by many.

nickxtra: At 31(though physically bigger than my age), don't you think am supposed to be married now like my friends, some of whom are my juniors and others, seniors? Is it possible not to have a strong love a girl now, but later develop it for her? What do I do now in this circumstance? Please, advise me.
What I see here is not confusion but an upsurge of hormones doing the thinking for you. Marriage is important but it is not done because others are doing or because I am getting old. You have to be matured in all areas viz-a-viz emotional, financial, anger management to mention a few.
Bro, sit yourself down and think of what you want from life. Map out strategy on how you aim to accomplish it. Look back on where you have made serious mistakes that have affected your progress and make correction for future purpose. Draw out a vision you intend to run with and stick to it with prayers.
Start working on becoming the ideal husband for your wife by reading good books and understudying successful homes. Take time also to identify what you want in a woman and the characteristics you will want to see (realistic expectations). When you see them in a lady, with time your attraction will become strong.

Finally, you need to let this sink into your heart that your life should not be compared with any. Some are early starters while some are late starters. What matters is for you to understand the purpose you are living for and run with it. Write the vision and make it plain upon the tables. The law of overtaking is a universal law. You are in no competition with anybody, savour your challenges and let them mould you to become a better person to your family and society at large. I pray that God settle you and grant you peace round about.

Write a letter and submit to the SSS office in your state. They should do something about it. Forget the police for now.
Family › Re: Should I Bother? by bellong: 8:54am On Oct 08, 2013
Op,

I would be ashamed if I were your husband not because of your sister's issues or closeness with me but the fact that you still see me as an inlaw. The two shall become one. I do not see my wife's people as inlaws anymore, they are now my people.

To the subject matter, my only concern is how and where does he give his numerous advices? If none of it happens in private and there is no hope of any of the counselling session to happen in private, then I think there is no need for you to become paranoid of what may be. Your husband already struck the right chord with her, hence reason why your sister is open to him and can tell him every damn thing.

To be realistic, no lady will reject a man with a listening ear and comforting words, that she found in your husband. What I will advice you tell your husband is to define the boundary and help her in one of his counselling sessions to be strong on her own. To teach her on how to handle issues without running to people. She should teach her to fish rather than giving her fish.

Your sister is not free with you and other siblings because you all never struck the right chord with her. You may have been opened to her but you never unlocked the key to her being free with you. Do not talk to your sister about her relationship with your husband, she may take it that you are negative about the whole issue. Discuss with your husband to help her in taking decisions of her own and to define the boundary of their closeness. He also needs to take heed of himself too.
Family › Re: His Wife Asking For His Facebook Password. by bellong: 8:20am On Oct 08, 2013
If you really do not want to give her, when you are at home, call her to your side and log on to facebook. Let her do whatever she wants to do.

However, there is more to her asking for your facebook password, Is it that she doesn't trust you enough or she just wants to know.

Although, I am of the opinion that spouses should know the passwords of public and social media of each other. We never can tell when the need for it may arise but it should not be forcefully given. It should be a mutually agreed thing to do.

Something I have learnt albeit a bitter lesson is to always give thanks no matter the condition...

"Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no

meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation."

Take them to a dermatologist. A professional help will be better because children react differently to environmental conditions and creams.

Family › Re: How Do I Curtail My Twin Girl Aggression by bellong: 9:48am On Oct 07, 2013
AnodaIT: ^ I did not complete it

@OP , first step, teach her responsibility. (the two of them together)
Give her something delicate (but disposable ) make a mark on it and tell her to hold it for you for some time (start with 5 mins) . tell them to make sure no one takes it from each of them. If it work for 5 mins, try another item and move the time up till it might be a whole day.
When she knows that 'This is my thing and no one should take it from me' , she might well understand when someone else says 'This is my thing . .'
If she get this going, the next thing will be to teach her giving and politely asking.
This is better.... wink
Family › Re: Are You Enjoying Your Marriage? by bellong: 9:45am On Oct 07, 2013
kofsy: Responding to the last part of your post. Pls that's not my intention. I don't expect folks to come here and say their marriage is hell. That was why I said I wanted them to share their experience. What they feel they missed when they were single and what to-be brides should look out for or avoid. Experience is everything in life... That's what learning entails but I don't necessarily have to get there before I learn. I want to learn from people that have been there. I just need people to allay my fears about marriage. Whatever people say here will not stop me from getting married(I must get married) but I need to acquire knowledge before taking that huge step. It scares me sad
bellong: Why not start by reading and listening to good stories.... There are millions of successful marriages across the world, you only chose to listen to the bad ones.
We are what we listen to or attract. Change your perception, read good books, undertake a personal study of people who are in a successful and blissful union, then you will have good stories to share.

The creator of marriage knew we wouldn't be complete without it. Yes, it's one of the best gifts we can get from Him. Bad marriages are results of failures of the parties involved beginning from when they were still singles till when they got married.
Family › Re: How Do I Curtail My Twin Girl Aggression by bellong: 9:17am On Oct 07, 2013
AnodaIT: You better find a way to stop that before she begins to snatch another girl's bf or husband
This is harsh and why do you think she is here? It would have been better you offered her a way out than what you wrote...

@Op, whenever she does that, stop her from doing it. Be firm in your decision and never mind her blackmail cry. Tell her what she is doing is bad and you will not condone it. When she sees your firmness with time she will adjust. Need I add that you add spanking once a while to let her know you are serious about it.
