You will need to get the Act that established the organisation to understand their other core duties. To what extent they have fared in intelligence gathering cannot be ascertained by anyone of us except the bodies to which they are mandated to share the intelligence with. You initially mentioned of the many arrests made by police, it wouldn't be out of place to say that the SSS must have been part of the success for the intelligence shared with the Police.

@bellong, please take your advice to OP a step further on how to do a due diligence on a Nigerian man. Where should she start as the guy is from a thousand miles away for once and the only thing she has to do is to trust and believe what he says. Unless your advise the women of the world is never ever to trust Nigerian men. Its not like there are databases people can check on like US search etc, or numbers to call to verify any information you might suspect like if the guy is married or not. What you asking these women to do is a mamoth task
especially when one is inlove. I really think your blame is hugely
misplaced on this one.

Its not as if people only fall inlove with Nigerian man only, different races from different corners of the world get into relationships everyday and sincere ones at that, so what you are saying is ladies must treat Nigerian men differently with suspicion and mistrust? If this is is your advice please let it be known so thatwhen the Op writes and publishes her memoirs she could quote advice from a Nigerian forum, from Nigerians to advise her fellow sisters better.

@Op, Sis I can feel your pain. Its sad really that this happened to you and you are not to blame otherwise they would not say "love is blind". Do whatever you need to do to heal and have a new start. You are beautiful lady and I am sure your children (if you have any) are blessed to have a mother like you. It's alright dear. May the God help you in your healing process.
I am very sorry that I may not be able to help you to comprehend what I wrote. Is there anywhere in my comment that I mentioned "Nigerian man"? The OP was talking about Africans in general and not Nigerian men in specific.

If a grown adult does not know how to test sincerity of a relationship without resort to database, I am sorry I can't be of help. You may probably re-read my post to have a better grasp of what I was trying to say.

Thanks

Sometimes, carrying such weight is not easy except you let it out. The best way for you to free yourself is to let it out so there can be relief and lifting of burden.

She is your mother and you have every right as a child to talk things through with her not with the intention of revenge but unloading your burdened heart. If your sister agrees, arrange a meeting together with your mum choosing a convenient time for all parties. Let her understand all what you know and that despite it, she still has your respect and trust as a mother but you are only telling her to understand that you are getting it off you. Whatever reason she did it is none of your business but her and do not question why.

Forgive her and move on with your life. It must be noted that she sinned against her husband and God, not the children.

beewhyfocs: Yea, I get the drift. Albeit, manpower should not be an excuse for the government. I don't mean to sound pessimistic or act as the devil's advocate in this matter. What has the government been doing with security votes? The amount voted for security keep increasing in proportion to the spate of crime in the nation, yet we have not seen a corresponding improvement in our security affairs.

You will agree with me that some of these monies are not been used in a justified manner. Unemployment is so high in the country which implies that these jobless youth can be made to function in these security apparatus. Yet we do nothing about it.

Anyway, I give it to the SSS on this particular case.
Yes, you have very good and valid points. That is why I noted earlier that this is where the FG needs to be up and doing. Its a pathetic case that the politicians benefit greatly from insecurity because of security vote. If all security agencies have adequate manpower and there is good security across the nation, how do you expect them to overbloat and siphon security vote?

It is apathetic situation my brother

beewhyfocs: Ok. Let me take that as the truth. But what has the SSS been doing about the rampant cases of kidnapping in Nigeria? Are you of the opinion that this is the only case got the information ahead of time?
You will agree with me that every sector of the nation lacks adequate resources to carry it out including the security agencies. The country is becoming so hard that most youths are looking for short-cut to success. The few operatives of these security agencies are not enough to combat the increased spate of kidnappings. They have too many to contend with.

This is where the FG needs to be up and doing. Every of the agencies is trying to do what they can in alleviating this problem including the police but there is limit to what a limited resources can do. Do you understand the drift?

In short, there is lack of manpower.

What a myopic and foolish conclusion from you. What has the action of your friend's older brother got to do with the hopelessness of the country. Like beget like, if your friend's older brother could do what you described, it only shows the type of people you attract and in same analysis the type of person you are.

Nigeria has millions of issues but your story is not good enough to conclude there is no hope for the country. Meanwhile, Nigeria is made up of Nigerians which you are part. If your friend couldn't do anything to resolve this situation, my humble conclusion is that its you, your friend and the older brother that seems to be hopeless in this situation.

beewhyfocs: I guess its because she has SSS attached to her. Not every Nigerian has such privileges. So no need to praise the SSS, they only did their job!
No private citizen is entitled to SSS deployment. The SSS is different from NPF. No, she doesn't have SSS attached to her, they only did their job because they had the intelligence ahead of time which is one of their constitutional duties.

COOLDUN: Nwanne m, that woman as a Kwara woman never married that Igbo man for LOVE, it is a taboo for a real yoruba man/woman to marry a Kwara man/woman. Whenver they see another fellow from another tribe in the country they will rush the person. When you make that mistake you are gone forver. The first thing they do is to brainwash your children with somany nasty stories about you and your people so that the children will remain in their domain.

The Kwara yorubas have one bad culture that permites their men to be sharing their wives with their brothers, when their younger brothers enters into their houses with their wives, they would leave their foot wears at the door, when the husbands of the women see the foot wears they would say Abro mi wa nile, meaning that my junior brother is in my house, he will excuse them till he finishes with his wife.

Just make a personal research over what i have just writen down here and see if i made any false accusation. For a real yoruba to marry a kwara fellow is a big TABOO. From the story of the girl's mother , i know that the children of that Igbo man are gone. Sorry is the man's new name name now.
Where did you get the bolded statements from? Will you please stop spewing thrash and misinforming people here. How comfortable was it for you to confidently type the BS above. Half education is worse than ignorance.

For most relationships, individuals tend to have reasons and motives for going into it. Some because the guy is rich, the lady will give free s-ex and many more sincere and insincere reasons. The onus lies on each partner to ascertain the sincerity and intention of each other in the relationship.

My blame will mostly be on the ladies that are swindled into marriage for selfish gain of the men involved because most, if not all, of those women do not apply their head and brain in verifying the sincerity of the men. They are always betrayed by their emotions and sweet talk, probably because they have not heard such sweet words from men in a long time. No matter how good a guy can lie, he will always leave a loophole showing his real motive for the relationship and only the lady whose emotion has not taking over her reasoning can detect this.

Advise your fellow African-American women to do their due diligence in verifying the identity and sincerity of a guy before throwing away all forms of sensible caution.

ALISMILE: . Of course they ll impress u cos they make only high profile arrest and also cos u need a job. Ask ursef hw many real time danger they ve had to face;like havin to confront armed robbers, militancy or BH? An ordinary division in the police make hundreds of such achievments witout the IG havin to come on air. I knw they ve a very very poor image amongst us nigerians and that is also cos they dont spend much time and money on image makin.
In an ideal situation, all the law enforcement agencies are working together to achieve a common goal, peace, security and stability of the country. When one of the agencies' image is already battered, do not blame the public if the agency is not given adequate commendation because they brought it upon themselves.

Comparing the NPF with SSS for their work on internal security is like comparing Yam and Beans. They have different statutory responsibilities and if SSS is doing police's job, is that not an indication of the failure of the police. The hundreds of arrests made by the police like you claimed, where do you think they get some of the intelligence from?

Meanwhile, the SSS does not make noise about her daily functions like the police. The few you hear and see are just tip of what they have achieved. This thread is not about the police but effort of the SSS. Don't take it away from them.

The easiest way to be free from a physical abusive person is to stay far away from him. You need to keep distance from the man to resolve his personal issues before he turns you to story that touch.

Never be bothered about the irrelevant opinions of others, it won't do you any good but more problems.

I don't think the painted scenario is about being an Igbo but about what the father wants. The father of the bride has the final say in a union, he represents divine authority (My opinion). If he wants it in the village, so be it except you guys can persuade him to shift ground for you.

I do not understand why anybody will defend the wife in this scenario. Going by the short conversation between the poster and the lady in question here, I can deduce the lady has a lot of issues with myopic view of marriage and relationship.

She has no single concrete evidence of the mother's evil doing towards her except she is cold to her. What an ambiguous statement to make. Nobody knows why the mother is cold to her and if she can't pin point to one bad thing the woman has done, the wife is the wicked fellow in this case. The husband takes to his mother's advice over her. Men are not emotional being who do not look at merit of advices before jumping at one. The fact that you are my wife does not mean I will reject a superior argument and better advice when I see one irrespective of who offers it. That doesn't give the husband excuse to table matters before her mother daily. Only fools reject good counsels based on emotional sentiments.

For two good years, she has nothing tangible against the woman and yet she is very bitter against her coming. She is an ingrate of a wife. She is enjoying her husband but failed to recognise who nurtured him by God's grace to be who he is today that she is happily married to. Some wives need some serious brain and orientation reset. Like I said before, she can continue with her present attitude to the mother-in-law, her daughter-in-law will pay her in same coin with compound interest.

It is because of this, I patiently and diligently chose a good woman with compassion and deep understanding. Not one of the girls of these days who lack depth and are myopic.
Family › Re: The 'me And My Husband Alone" Sydromne by bellong: 4:56pm On Sep 17, 2013
She is not suffering from clinging syndrome but ignorance and selfishness. She will grow to become a MIL tomorrow. She needs serious help because if she continues this way, her husband will soon get tired of the tantrums against his mother.

No wife should hate their MIL especially when there is no cause to. If her husband cannot share secrets with her, it shows that she is yet to earn her husband's trust. How will she even earn it when she is busy hating on his mother.
