IslamRe: Islam Forbids Aggression Against Innocent People by belloti(op): 12:28pm On May 09, 2006
Somebody, there is no difference between moslem and muslim,i guess moslem was a more english version, while muslim is more of arabic or hausa. The difference is just the spellings and nothing more.

If any scholar justified violence as religious then he is quoting the wrong book.

However, you guys have always misunderstood some Islamic criminal punishments.

Its a fact that Islam views Adultery as a great sin desirable of severe punishment. The stoning sentence was suppose to be a deterrant and not an actual punishment. the mere thought of the punishment may scare people away from it. However, before the sentence is prescribed, there has to be 4 honest, adult and reliable witnesses who saw the acts live. that is almost impossible. where verdict are passed, the criminals are never arrested but given freewill to submit themselves for punishment. i can understand why this particular issue might not be understood by christian but to muslims, it is an unquestionable divine law. so everyone is warned. If you insist on committing adultery, just like AIDS, dont get caught and wait for your punishment in the hereafter. No one stalk anyone on this.

Same goes to cutting off the wrist of a thief, only if it can be proven that he does not steal out of neccessity and dire stress. However, Islam draws a line between theft and corruption. Corruption punishment comes under betrayal of trust which has milder sentence but does not stop there. The corrupt official must be forced to return everything or is allowed to face the Lord almighty in the hereafter. A thief that steal from an identified individual is better off,if his case is determined and settle on earth.

Sharia law is a wide area, i dont expect everyone to understand my simple analogy but we muslims accept it wholeheartedly as the code of our existence. Please, give us a chance to practice our religion.

Peace
IslamRe: Islam Forbids Aggression Against Innocent People by belloti(op): 11:19am On May 09, 2006
Logical, that was a nice one. Thanks

Anyway, The fact is Islam as a religion does not condone aggression against innocent people. It is an indisputable fact. Lets not rush into hasty generalisation based on a very weak premise.

Islam is Peace, so is Christianity i suppose.

We all seem to agree that Dan Brown was wrong in his defiction of our holy Jesus. Why do we need to bother what muslims would have done if it were targetted at Islam. Lets not crucify ourself by villifying muslims and hailing Brown. What is wrong is wrong and no one should encourage it. And we all agree that we muslims are more sensitive to attacks on our religion, but why should anyone attack any religion? Thats my point. Dont forget that theres a very short time to live and one day we ll all go back to our lord to account for our religious deeds, actions and inactions on earth, on the basis of which, our final resting place would be determined. Lets all tread carefully
IslamRe: Islam Forbids Aggression Against Innocent People by belloti(op): 10:43am On May 09, 2006
When i started this topic i expected everyone to understand the position of Islam about the percieved muslims aggressions against innocent people. It has being evident that while we profess a religion we may not always abide by its injunctions. If we understand Mr Bush activities as a political killing so also the upheavals in Iraq and other islamic countries. When God chosed the name Islam as a title for our religion it was clear from onset we are enjoined to be peace loving people. Islam is an arabic word for Peace as you may all know.

There is an ugly trend in this forum that portray us as myopic religious bigotS. Its quite unfortunate because i am sure that was not the intention of the administrators. I am a passionate moslem, i pray 5 times daily, i performed my Hajj, i perform my fasting regularly and i try my best to be the best muslim i can be. But i see christians or even Atheists as my brothers and fellow human beings who share the same freedom to practice their choosen faith. I don't judge them and i don't think they are senseless. i just feel we live in a free world. Never in my wildest imagination can i even try to say a nasty thing about The great Jesus of Nazreth, Peace be Upon Him. He was a blessing to mankind.

What we need here is to understand the fact that majority of armed robbers in nigeria are christians does not imply christianity preaching armed robbery and the fact that terrorism is prevalent in muslim countries does not also suggest islam sanction terrorist acts. We all believe in one God and should try as much as we can to be our brothers keepers. Lets not use this forum to disrespect our religious leaders, lets try to be the best human being we can. lets preach love and peace irrespective of our religious differences.

Ofcourse, we are free to seek for clarification on religious issues in a very nice, subtle and decent manners.

What may sound strange to you is that Prophet muhammad has never killed an innocent soul and never encouraged any one to do that. Any killing of innocent soul in the name of islam is wrong.

You know, we need to dust up our books and get to know these ourselves.
IslamRe: Islam Forbids Aggression Against Innocent People by belloti(op): 3:43pm On May 08, 2006
Hey, that was a nice way to ask. Please find out for yourself search the net about the true life history of Prophet muhammad (SAW) and see what you ll get. you can visit this link or any other one; www.mpac-ng.org

The Prophet followed that to the latter
IslamIslam Forbids Aggression Against Innocent People by belloti(op): 3:17pm On May 08, 2006
Islam does not permit aggression against innocent people, whether the aggression is against life, property, or honour, and this ruling applies to everyone, regardless of position, status and prestige. In Islam, as the state’s subject is addressed with Islamic teachings, so is the ruler or caliph; he is not allowed to violate people's rights, lives, honour, property, etc.

In the Farewell Pilgrimage, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) declared the principle that people's lives, property, and honour are inviolable until the Day of Judgment. This ruling is not restricted to Muslims; rather, it includes non-Muslims who are not fighting Muslims. Even in case of war, Islam does not permit killing those who are not involved in fighting, such as women, children, the aged, and the monks who confine themselves to worship only.

This shouldn’t raise any wonder, for Islam is a religion that prohibits aggression even against animals. Ibn `Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, quoted the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, as saying: "A woman (was made to) enter (Hell) Fire because of a cat which she tied, neither giving it food nor setting it free to eat from the vermin of the earth." (Reported by Al-Bukhari)

If such is Islamic ruling concerning aggressive acts against animals then the punishment is bound to be severe when human being happens to be the victim of aggression, torture and terrorism.

For the sake of others like you and my friends like 4get me, i just want to answer your question. we don't all have to behave like fools

1. Holy Prophet Muhammad(SAW) led an examplary life. He did certain things to set a precedence as to what is allowed and what is not. When he married the 9 year old, he was making a point that marriage can be contracted as early as that age but nothing lower. However, there wont be any sexual liasons till the bride reach a matured age. It was suppose to be an option for some followers of Islam that may have a culture of early marriages. this is to make the religion attractive to them. its probably a strategy for winning those kind of people. Holy Prophet was never known to have slept with her at such an early age.

2. He was a remarkable man. he was never a peodophile.

3. In the history of islam in Nigeria, no marriage was ever contracted officially at that age.

4. Islam has a strong respect for womanhood, regardless of some wrong interpretations.

Having said all these, i would like to stress here that, in the issue of faith or any issue that we know little about, the best way to go about it is to seek for clarification. Where matters affect belief, the way to go about it is to say i don't believe in what you believe but not to say what you believe in is wrong. Lets respect our freedom of choices.

I dont have to reply you but i can understand you. You are just an irresponsible bigot. You dont have to come Here and abuse a figure millions of people hold high. Eesa (Jesus, son of Mary) May Peace be Upon him is a great man sent to mankind with a message from God. All moslems all over the world respect him.  And i believe you are not a good reflection of christianity. you ve shown a great deal of ignorance in your posts. You should be ashame of yourself whereever you are.

I hope the administrator of this forum caution you and other stupid people like you. We are moslems, we are peaceful people. If Arabs are politically victimised to seek redress in violent ways, thats politics and not Islam. But i cant waste my time explaining stuff like these to you, they are probably too technical for you to understand.
Christianity EtcRe: Da Vinci Code: A Lesson To Muslims by belloti(m): 11:55am On May 08, 2006
I got to tell you here that what you guys are doing is total nonsense, irrational, harsh and disturbing. I thought i was getting some understanding from 4get me but look who we got here. Stupid and myopic people. How can u abuse a holy prophet of Islam like that? How dare you?. I am really angry and i got to let you know.

We are muslims, we have a faith and we respect others freedom to have their faith too. We believe in one God, We believe there should be peace in the world. If you choose to worship a lizard or a human being, its none of our business. If There is global Justice in this world no one need to sacrifice himself to make a point. No one need to die.

Right now, what i want to say is that enough of provocative remarks against any religion and no one should make any myopic and shortsighted analysis of my faith or any faith for that matter. Because Its my Faith and I take it Personal.

Anyone can say what he want to say but football is no mathematics. we saw sunderland holding man u to a draw where chelsea fell. Osasuna beat barca home & away. Barca lost a couple of matches this season. The truth of the matter is that none of us knows who is going to win that match.

We the die hard Arsenal supporters will pray for Arsenal to win and for west ham to beat Spurs. Thats our prayers. If you are not with us you can go to hell for all we care.

4Get me, i actually wanted the arguement to die down naturally here. but i really need to clarify a thing or two. i also understand how hard you are trying to be nice to me your new friend. But when it comes to religious knowledge, we are more likely to see moslems with more understanding of christianity than christian with islamic knowledge. i am not sure if you had ever attended any islamic function but i tell you i have being to lot of christian programmes including church weddings. About Tolerance, i want to give you the quranic views about violence especially about churc burning that has always attracted criticisms.

"Those who have been expelled from their homes unjustly only because they said: "Our Lord is Allah." - For had it not been that Allah checks one set of people by means of another, monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, wherein the Name of Allah is mentioned much would surely have been pulled down. Verily, Allah will help those who help His (Cause). Truly, Allah is All-Strong, All-Mighty".
( سورة الحج , Al-Hajj, Chapter #22, Verse #40)

Any moslem that burn a church is not a good moslem. Our Holy Prophet once repeatedly said, "i swear he is not a believer "3 times. His disciples then asked him, who he was referring to. He said " Anyone that his neighbour is not free from his atrocities". Neighbour here include both moslems and non-moslems, colleagues at work, in schools, at home and everywhere else.

Indeed, there is a lot to say about Islamic spirit that it may need a new topic.

Owo, to start with, Zamfara state is the most peaceful state in nigeria. The Candidate is probably the most educated among the military oriented bunch. Yarima has also empowered more peasants and downtrodden masses than any governor in nigeria. He has so far proved to be the only governor that has managed to stay clear from controversy. You know, Owo, If you look at the options we have IBB, Buhari, Atiku and May be Marwa, you may probably understand why we dont need to recycle the usual thieves. or what do you think?
