The Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, Friday said that Mrs. Funke Olakunrin, daughter of Afenifere chairman, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, has been killed by suspected kidnappers.

Sources said the deceased was coming from the Lagos end of the Benin/Ore road when her car was attacked by the kidnappers. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the state Police command, Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident.

He said the suspects were kidnappers who also engaged in armed robbery. The incident, he said, happened between Kajola and Ore, adding that Mrs Olakunrin was the only one killed in the incident.

He said three vehicles, including a luxurious bus belonging to the Young Shall Grow Motors, were attacked by the kidnappers, adding that the passengers in the luxurious bus were travelling from Imo State to Lagos.

However, he said the Police have rescued three of the victims, adding that one Gerald Igboroka was yet to be found by the police. Joseph said: “information available to us is that suspected kidnappers who were 16 in number.”

Most black countries are not developed because they have too many resources...which they sell, and then they use the money to import rather than boost their productive capacity.

Most Western countries are developed because they have limited resources, which means they have to rely more on innovation to surivive.(They also fought more wars than we did, especially in Europe..which means more tech development). That's why they are advanced.

Corruption exists in the West, like it does here. But because the West is reliant on innovation, corruption would seriously affect that innovative power...which is why Western countries have enough people fighting corruption.Importantly, revenues for Western government are highly dependent on taxation, which means any chicanery with the money leads to revolution.

In Africa, because government revenues are not that dependent on taxation....but rather on selling the raw materials and sharing the money...corruption thrives...since he who controls the sharing of the money controls the power. Anyone stealing millions in an african country would get away with it since much of that money does not come from taxes, but export revenues, and can be replaced with more export revenues.(or loans if need be).

AutoReportNG was in CMS today and we passed through the popular Tinubu Square close to the GTBank branch, we noticed some cars parked along the road have their plate numbers removed with a sticker attached to the windscreen that the owner should appear at the task force office at Oshodi. The Lagos State Mobile Court is known to be responsible for cases where motorists violate the traffic rule among others.

For the avoidance of doubt, according to the state law, parking on the kerb or walkways or outside the premises where the driver has come to transact business in a manner that either obstruct traffic or constitutes illegal use of public space is a violation of the law and could attract a fine of Twenty thousand Naira (N20, 000) or a community service after a documentary evidence has been presented to the offender.

It will be recalled that last week, 2 drivers who drove through the one-way in Ikeja were made to forfeit their vechicles to the state government. It's another week, we can only appeal to drivers to drive responsibly and shun parking at the sideways.
