Don't be put off by people giving you advices you don't want to hear, there is always at least two sides to every situation in life, its what makes the world tick.

~ My two-cents for you would be to plead with your husband to give you at least two extra months, work your arse off (I would advice that you diligently seek a full-time job with tons of overtime).

~ Put a substantial amount of money on the side for rainy days so that if you don't get a job back home straightaway, your children would not go hungry (Keep this money a secret from him, you have sacrificed enough to stoke his ego and pride, by dropping everything to return to him at such short notice.

~ As a test, send the kids home about two/three weeks before you join them, if your hubby requests for money for their upkeep, then you know that you are going to be in for a very rough ride back home, once the money you bring runs out.

~ Return home to your rightful place beside your hubby.

~ And finally, explore means of leaving the country without it having a detrimental effect on your ability to retain your potential loooooong residency status.

Why will you boss instruct his lawyer to write the embassy asking why you where refused when they have already given you a decision with the reasons.Tell your boss issuance of a Tourist visa is not a right but a privilage based on the ECOs discreetion on balance of probability.
Your boss should write a cover letter explaining further his intention to sponsor your trip and beg for a reconsideration.OR follow as previously advised by Londoncool and Vicjustice instead of spending another 20% of your month salary to apply for a visa.

The boss with money, to burn is legally within his right to a lawyer to make such enquiries (request for statement of reasons/ reconsideration).

As the immigration law currently stands, if they ask you to provide X,Y,Z,A,B,C and you satisfy their requirement, and dot all your i's and cross all the t's, they have to issue the visa, if the ECO's trip up, you have the back-up of having the right to appeal their decision.

Why not find time to arrange a date/weekend break for the two of you, a kind of make or break holiday where you would be able to have a heart to heart with each other. And then from there you can make up your mind about whether you are really ready to walk from the union or stay to make things work.

I feel you my sister, if you hear someone wailing and yelling, it's human nature to want to know if things are okay.

If I were to find myself in such similar situation, I would tell them I want to get off the plane, knowing the delay in off-loading me and my luggage would cost them thousands of pounds.

Perhaps if more people make a stance (indirect silent protest) like this, they would reconsider other humane means of dealing with overstayers.
