@ Elosela EloSela:Err, no, although I recall you quoting it earlier on in this thread, but since that particular post was specifically addressed to Dis-Guy, I felt there was no need for me to even read it, ![]() |
Yes but common peeps, it is still not right for an IT Consultant and a Doctor to provide bank statement and payslips for twelve months and six months respectively. The woman whose daughter got killed in Goa a month ago managed to save the £7000 she used to fund her trip from benefits. This needs to be nipped in the bud pronto, the Uk police force are known for taking the mile when given an inch. |
@ Elosela EloSela:Didn't wanna hurt your feelings by stating that I agreed your opponent's stance, so instead decided to do it considerately and gently by adding kerosene to the fire. ![]() |
What sort of country is this whereby an IT Consultant and a Doctor have to submit six months payslips and twelve months bank statement in order to prove where they obtained £473 and £1050 from? The irony of this whole saga (BA Vs Ayodeji) is that the people whose head are stuck up the arses of "the police who can do no wrong", have failed to grasp that this gentlemen was initially arrested for affray and disturbance, and held for only 8 hours, out of the maximum of 72 hours that UK police are allowed to detain a suspect in order to bring a charge. This chap was released after only 8 hours and then bailed to return for "traceability" , a jargon for being suspected of being involved in money laundering crime for having a mind-boggling grand total of £1613, a sum of which two-third of the money (£1050) belonged to his cousin whom happened to be a doctor. As a matter of fact, under the money laundering acts, people are allowed to have up to £3000 on them without being subjected to any questioning. Now this guy and his cousin (the doctor) have been asked to produce six months pay-slips and 12 months bank statement to prove the money is not from the proceeds of crime. Since there is no smoke without fire, methinks the police are now starting to insinuate that the guy could be a fraudster(419er) and have in fact been granted a further 90 days to investigate this amount, and to think that they are only allowed detain a potential terrorist for only 30 days, hmmn, words fail me. |
@ sureng sureng:odoyo ![]() okobo ![]() @ Mr Patrick can't wait for Akolowole's connundrum, sleep no wan catch me sef. @ Akolowole carry go, no be today men dey sleep for inside car for obodo London, after being kicked out of the home he is paying the mortgage/rent for, by his wifey/baby mama/girlfriend. @ Dis Guy Dis Guy:Could you believe it actually happened to a disabled person, and people found it funny . . . EloSela: |
Vicjustice:Again, you miscontrued the chaps honest intention to be clear, concise and specific in his request for help as an act of bragging, when his only concern was for his passport not to be messed up. All he wanted to know was if a student could sponsor him for a visiting visa. [quote ] Vicjustice:C'mon man, ona kan o wo oja now (Shuo, sey na only one way person dey take enter market?). If Canada is not "do-able", what stops him from trying for other countries with his other names? The guy is a God-fearing chap, he made a con -(what's the word sef) with God in January 2007 that he wanted to have visited as many countries as possible by December 2007, and God has answered his prayers so far as at August 2007 by blessing him with the priviledge of travelling to three countries, knowing his God is the One that never fails to bring His words to pass, he wanted to "help" God by making sure he tied all the loopholes that he could encounter in his quest to visit the states, hence the reason he asked those valid questions such as "When could an account balance be deemed suitable for a two weeks jaunt to the states?" and "Is it possible for someone of student status in Canada to be a sponsor?" He also gave good solid input regarding the need for people to be ready to work hard if they wanted to travel and settle in these first-class countries. Shikena |
@vicjustice - the Perez Hilton of Nairaland Ile ise yin o ni jona o (your work place no go burn down o like channel I respect the way you dissect people's post and expose plenty foul yansh for here , keep up the good work, but me I hate ojoro (cheating). I am not disputing the fact that this guy has given you different names, but then what if he is just wary of revealing himself to strangers, or what if he wanted to use his ten different names to procure ten travelling documents? Surely, he ain't the first person to do this and he definitely wouldn't be the last. Vicjustice:His first post clearly states that his accommodation and feeding would be taken cared of by his host, and his worry about his bank statement, was solely about what "amount" could be constituted as suitable by the almighty US of A, who seems to think the sun rises out of their lard arse. |
oell: oloshious fellow ![]() |
winnteam:Glory be to God. To be fair to the OP, he was only trying to warn people about travelling into the country with a "visiting visa" whilst pregnant in order to . . . and paramountly, I already made a statement about people procuring "visa for medical purposes", the route which your wife probably utilised. |
@funkybaby Belated b'day wishes, may God grant you the desires of your heart. @ mentics Congratulations, though I'm surprised you were not asked to attend with a travel ticket. Hmmn, word of advice though, either make sure you travel out by the 15th of April or get your school to postpone your resumption date (not for too long though), as you do not want to be faced with a "change of circumstances" dilemma. Uk law is very simple, if asked to bring 5 things and you comply, you would get it, but once you start veering into the "change of circumstances" territory, it is a case of "anything goes". |
OMG, what happened? Dang, I missed the film-show. After discovering that - according to the American Journal of Psychiatry, internet addiction (more than 20 hours a week online) should be regarded as a compulsive mental disorder, and also finding out that experts in China and South Korea run state-funded internet addiction boot camps complete with electric shock therapy - I managed two whole days without visiting Nairaland in order to combat my addiction before I started displaying "withdrawal symptoms" like Mr Patrick (Sureng's moniker for Mr Pataki), who's always posting "last post" in order to be able to go off to complete his thesis, and just realised that I missed some "action". It's not fair oh |
pahtahkee:I am from the source, Ile-Ife. pahtahkee: ![]() |
lucabrasi:You are wrong mate, I harbour no ill-feeling towards anyone who needs to migrate to seek a better life for themselves or their families, I only dislike freeloaders like every other law abiding taxpayer. Besides, I am an offspring of an immigrant. Every one in the UK who is not of "white" descent is either an immigrant or the child of one. |
Prior to the 23 kilo max rule, it used to apply to Nigerians only. It never happened when I travelled to other countries, only when I wanted to travel to Nigeria. I use to spark for them like mad, especially Virgin Airways, and get away with it by telling whoever accost me that If I get to the cherck-in desk and discover that my luggage is over-limit, I would pay the excess. As If. |
Then again, as the yoruba saying goes "the dead don't know how much the coffin costs", if people had to pay towards NHS cost, education, etc and realise that a one day stay in the maternity ward costs £1500, that visits to the A&E costs £500, that it costs over £12,000 per annum to educate a child in a state school, etc, they would have more respect for these provisions. I think the way forward is to charge people a percentage. |
Anyway, we can't really blame them, the way this country is structured you have to lie sometimes to get ahead, and the white natives are not savvy enough hence the reason a lot of them are homeless whilst people from outside take their houses, clog up their schools and the NHS. Can you imagine a reporter from the evening standard went to the Immigration centre in Croydon to enquire about getting council accommodation as a 29 years old British born and bred citizen but was refused because he had no children, no mental or physical health problem, etc. This same guy travelled to France, came back on the Eurostar, presented to the same office in Croydon, as an immigrant with no papers, and was immediately placed in a four star bed & breakfast. The mind boggles. It really beggars belief. |
waleab:That's the bit I can't stand too, some are even so greedy they don't have any right to be in the country yet they own two/three council houses. I don't blame this people for deciding to get tough now, but then would not hold my breath as they would start protesting about their human rights, and Britain being a sucker would fall for it. The annoying thing is that we are all seen in the same light and I am fed up of hostile news about immigrant in the paper every day. |
pahtahkee:Aaawwwww, bless, I love happy endings. So glad you are staying then. But sha, you get motormouth small o , when you are not in your element in the travel and sports section. |

dnative:Pull the other one. Very rich of you, clutching at straws, instead of simply apologising and stepping up to the fact that you glaringly mistook a joke for a slight on your character. Don't get it wrong o, I don't need your apology o. If all it takes to push your button is a wise-crack, tongue-in-cheek joke at your expenses . . . If to say you be woman, I for say na PMT dey worry una . . . It is not in my nature to belittle people, deride people or make fun of people, I also don't condone others who do so. Why did you think I got nick-named Voltron-defender of the universe? [s]I dey poke nose for matter wey concern me, plus the one wey no concern me.[/s] ![]() |
dnative:Agree 100% with this, but your "view" was drenched with venom, and hence your quote above is not applicable. |
dnative:Yeah right, the tone of your "cite the source . . ." was dripping with so much bile, when all I only did was say "ouch" with a manic grin, Mr Sensitive and uptight. |
waleab:Sorry say I never acknowledge you on time my brother, na true you talk o jare. The one that irks me the most is when these some nigerians, blame guys for dabbling in odus, and giving us a bad reputation, as if it is not them buying these goods off this guys at half-price, as well as falsifying and doctoring documents for bogus child benefit claims, housing benefits claim, etc. The recent literature I got from London Borough of Barking and Dagenham stated that they had employed fraud and compliance officers to check with a fine-tooth comb, every application for housing (both present and past), with documents submitted to prove identity. I am currently baulking and quavering in my boots, at the headlines that would acompany their findings. |
