Car Talk / Re: UPDATED***Fuel Treatment Product Test by billy187(m): 5:07pm On Jan 28, 2016
I quite expected the results of this test to take the path they took. Most of these fuel saving concoctions I believe contain similar ingredients to in-tank injector cleaners: which do work- to some extent. The fuel saver probably did clean up the fuel lines, combustion chamber, exhaust and all in between, leading to a more efficient burn which of course, will result in less fuel burned. It might not be worthwhile in the long run though...as u can save more by just buying a few more liters of gas.

Thanks for conducting this test, Denn! I'm Looking forward to more from you. And yeah, awesome blog!
Car Talk / Re: Best Budget Car For Rough Terrains by billy187(m): 4:44pm On Jan 28, 2016
Buy a Subaru Outback-VERY capable offroader , despite its saloon/estate body style it's more capable than crossovers like the Highlander, Crv, Pilot etc.....Very reliable too.

However as I'm not in Nigeria, I dunno how common they are over there, which can translate to mechanic and parts troubles.

The engine pics is funny lol.. But the guy that sold it said this a Golf3 engine.

My beef exactly! the air intake and coolant reservoir have extremely awkward positions, in my opinion. But then I've never seen the 1.8 without that plasticky cover before, so I stand to be corrected.

Anyways, glad to know you've got the clutch fixed though, Op. I wish you many happy years of motoring with your Passat.

Phones / Re: My Experience With Android Phones So Far (photos) by billy187(m): 2:32pm On Jan 18, 2016
From my experience with androids, u can't really benefit with lower end products. I used to own a Samsung Galaxy pocket and then a Galaxy music duos, both bought brand new but the lag on them were just terrible.

Compounding this with the fact that you went for used, budget devices from an earlier era, there's almost no chance you'd be satisfied after ur phones have been burdened by today's heavier apps and requirements.

Try splashing out a lil more dough when buying an android. I presently use a Motorola Moto G3 and its been amazing. You can however consider an MTK device if you're strapped for cash- they offer the most bang for buck.

Car Talk / Re: How Much Mileage Is Too Much Mileage? by billy187(m): 9:55am On Jan 14, 2016
Using mileage to determine the condition of a car can prove to be quite erroneous in the least. A car used extensively for highway travel may most likely have higher mileage as compared to a similar year model used mostly for short runs within town. Town usage leads to lots of wear and tear due to the lots of stop-and-go required.

The highway used car despite its higher mileage however, may not have much wear as stop-and-go is much less on the highway.

I wonder when Nigerians will know the name of cars. That's why they always go wrong when reporting a Crime scene to Cops, while describing the cars they came with.
The other day, Pastor Chris gifted his Drummer a Toyota Fortuner, but the media called it a Lexus Jeep not even SUV lol before they finally called it a Toyota 4runner as 'forerunner'
Now from the pics here it's clearly seen from the Pickup's badge on the grille, that it is a Mitsubishi L200.
But all Pickup Trucks to Nigerians are Hilux.
The other Vehicle doesn't even look like an Explorer.

Right on! The other car is a Mercury Mountaineer. Perhaps Op posted pics of the wrong accident?

rainmaker12:
I gat a 1999 accord 4 door with i4, believe me Accord is wonderful, it moves like a v8. Hit dat pedal all the way down and watch a transformation. D engine screams "YESSSS!!!!!" and the gear immediately concur, shifts to d nxt gear with a blast from d past. To see real magic, wen cruising around 80kph, and u want to catch up with that car that just past you like ur car is too sluggish for d road, by 1am.... Most pple tink u must always push d gas pedal slowly till desired speed..NO!!! Any speed u doing weither it's a 1988 or 2015 car, just release d pedal den slam it down, if u have a gud tyranny...hehehehe....I rest my case....just make sure ur brake is OK....V6 only has better torque Dan i4 but for average speed dey r like same, pending on who's driving..... Raced with Mercedes c300 2008 from vgc to Ajah...he won with just 5 meters and age of vehicle. Don't worry about redline, factory cars will instantly change gears wen reaching d red zone, but if ur car has been tuned to alter dat restriction, u can not only pass it, but explode ur manifold or crank. I4, V6, v8 d deference is torque and quicker launch. A v8 will reach 0-60 in 5sec, V6 in 5.5sec, i4 in 6.2 sec.... that's with same car, same model, same year. Eventually same average speed.

As I read your post a startling realisation dawned upon me..

I have NEVER fully depressed my accelerator before- from my subaru, to my 5.7 V8 Chevy Suburban, to my Ford Focus. Never. I dunno what would even happen if I do so.

I think I'm taking life too slowly grin

It'll be a hard find to capture a Pullman in Nigeria because "Aiye Ti Laju" grin

In fact I found a few classic Harleys and Indian Chiefs in Nigeria and once I started trying to talk business with the old Man who owns them and he started mentioning eBay I knew right away there was no deal here to be struck and I wasn't disappointed grin The sad thing is that the bikes are still there 3 year later even more worse for the wear. But I found a GWagen that I will try to negotiate on though.

Another great car, not sure if you have mentioned it are the C36 and C43 of the 90's. A 1999 is still on my list in either Silver or Black. Their lowly junior Brother C230 with a Kompressor is not bad, I'v checked that off, but there's "no replacement for displacement" grin V8 > I4 or even V6 as it were.

Everytime it rains and I activate the wipers, I smile like a little boy at the wipers dance. That monoblade wiper what the Cats Meow when it was released. And no other road going car from any other manufacturer has ever used a monoblade since then. It is only found in F1 cars.

I wonder why they discontinued the monoblade....that was a thing of beauty!

My sentiments exactly, the distinctions between classes are getting pretty blurry, especially between today's upper trim mainstreams and luxury marques.

Knocking the gear lever into neutral will simply cause the car's speed to drop off. It's not the same as engaging P in an automatic.

The chances of an RTA are greater if a minivan is pushed to higher than acceptable speeds, than if neutral was selected at the same speed.

Certainly- I have no contradicting sentiments with the mechanical feasibility- however the very physical interference involved and its distractive implications are what I worry about.

If yah have a death wish at least consider the women and children and innocent travelers on the road.

If you aren't such an asshat you wouldn't have had time to take a pic because you'll be busy doing stuff like knocking the gearshift into neutral.

Manipulating the gearshift of a hyperactive, amphetamine hopped up driver at 170km/h = a distracted, hyperactive aphetamine hopped up driver at 170km/h

such genius can NEVER lead to a horrific accident grin
Car Talk / Re: Driver with an attitude by billy187(m): 6:39am On Nov 30, 2015
I think Op did well to post this...you never know how far social media can go.

But then 170km/h? I never knew Hiaces were THAT fast! I can say for a fact the driver didnt own the van.
Car Talk / Re: What The Capabilities Of This Obd Device? by billy187(m): 10:50pm On Nov 27, 2015
abatically:
Basic obd2 device. Good for personal use (I own one). It will detect basic engine and transmission problems, but then that's it. It won't read abs or SRS and can't be used for in depth scan. Also u need an android phone to use it. But it works well as it also reads live data.

Thanks so much! Based on what you say I think its still a pretty good deal- I'd pick one up asap!
