Sizzorkay:Economy is of course the government's issue. I implied that unless we have a solid blueprint of what to follow for us to become 'developed', we will continue to struggle with a mish-mash of new governments every 4-8 years all with differing methods of leadership only interested in building short term projects.(What happened to Millennium Development Goals. Poverty alleviation amongst others) You can continue to build and refurbish 10 school blocks every fortnight but still, the same inefficiency (half baked teachers, useless principals, etc) Why not also invest in reinventing the whole education system as a long term infrastructural project. Maybe if we had serious governments that continued to invest in education, we wouldn't have a multitude of foot soldiers for bh, kidnappers in the North and South. If from 1999 with serious investments, we'll be having some graduating by now and providing value to society instead of having to now deploy our armies to every nook and cranny because of insecurity. If we have sustained just one or two such blueprints, we won't be in this quandary. But we might as well crack down on especially influential Nigerians who incite or encourage already terrible vices in the country. |
Very interesting. Striking a deal with Maduro's regime may either be very brave if there's a vacuum left by departing multinationals or stupid if Maduro loses and they cancel all his investments. |
Sizzorkay:Our leadership is corrupt, activism may not help a hungry man. The solution is more of an economic issue which I think most governments so far have had limited IQ to deal with. Heck, countries are investing heavily on their youths whilst our leaders are stealing their commonwealth. We'll need a different thread on suggestions on dealing with this. It'll need for the youths to also become wiser to the type of people they elect into government. And again, there are exceptions to free speech, no less in America where you claim to be. I believe it's enshrined about limitations to free speech. So yes, his arrest is justifiable. |
Sizzorkay:Naira marley is from the UK drill scene which glorify violence amongst other vices. He's probably shifting here to probably compensate for the limited opportunities in the scene. The artists in that genre are heavily censured as part of operation trident as its part of a wider vice threatening communities there. So once you start going off about guns, this, gang that, just expect The Met to cast lens on you and your activities plus a few visit. They can impose curfews, limit the number of people you can meet, where you go or whatnot. In Nigeria, fraud is now one of the biggest youth vice, so its proper they begin to take steps before it engulfs us. I don't agree on arrests over naming a dog Buhari however but I believe with better education, officials can decipher between silly and serious. Maybe sooner we'll also get a President who can extend same to the corrupt stealing our resources. |
Sizzorkay:Freedom of speech/expressions have 'exceptions'. You can't incite people to commit lawless activities. I don't know about the Nigerian legislation but surely you cannot be a grown man and argue you have the right to profess incitement, hate or threats. You can absolutely not claim free speech in these cases! Wasn't he also found with other people's debit details? I don't know where you live where rappers can sing outrageous lyrics. I know examples of other countries like UK where drill music is censored, videos taken down or rappers arrested for lyrics of crimes they done or intend to. |
I can never not be marveled at the IQ level from some commenters here. A corrupt governor has found it easier to get the state assembly to whittle down his enemies influence while his probe got surpressed by the same assembly. I pity the good people left in the country cos its filled with 70% evil people. |
Hesco barriers are now seemingly in use in the North East. Liking the strides especially by the airforce, though we still think better can come. |
Be wary of bloggers spreading fake news. British police don't have crests on the shoulder of their uniforms. Nairaland should please verify stories before posting on front page! Besides, attacking an officer of the law is a guaranteed prison term! |
It's kind of true. They also import fresh milk, Cravendale, Abel & Cole, etc. amongst other things. |
Nigerians would cut off their nose to spite their face. 2.5% is hardly negligible every month. Yet, people want the country to develop its infrastructures...? |
Please what's happening in the North West? Apparently its got hallmarks of Ansaru adherents who are kidnapping for ransom, cow rustling, raiding, killing and using the proceeds of their crime to fund operations. This is according to the Salkida guy on twitter. |
I don't have any problem with this. However, Tinubu had bullion vans going into his property, he made claims heard on tape of paying out large sums of money to his party members for elections yet only the opposition gets arrested?! Y'all better start petitioning because this is just a stinking disgrace and selective treatment by efcc. |
LTGEN:I stand by my assertion. I stated mostly... Not all. We do have some stand out units for sure. nemesis8u:Exactly. We've seen anti materiel rifles taking out engine blocks or significant damage to technicals. In all, just implying the rather lethargic ability to adapt by NA in over a decade of fighting. Some of these weapons took lesser time to get introduced in Syria. |
Odunayaw:Lol, chill out. Its saying these hardwares are far and between. Away from capturing, its stressing the limited response to bh tactics where they swarm and overwhelm with technicals providing suppressing fire. Their seeming inability to respond tactically then sees them overruned with overwhelming firepower. ATGM or recoiless for example to knock out technicals? Odunayaw:On the same NL, numerous videos of units engaging with poor marksmanship and indiscipline. The difference between both types of soldiers are just too wide that some regulars are just terribly trained. |
Fynline:The only good units in Nigeria seem to be 'SF' soldiers. Otherwise footage from non SF soldiers mostly leaves a dross taste. I think of it like SF get private school education while the rest are public educated. The latter while not all bad exhibit the limited training they got. |
https://www.calibreobscura.com/the-weaponary-of-is-west-africa-boko-haram/Good reflection on weapons seized by insurgents in the NE ...The weapons of ... are very clearly a reflection of the local area, in particular the purchasing decisions of the Nigerian Army and other local forces. There is little to no examples of Marksman Rifles, ATGM, or advanced optic use. Just to add, the quote above outlines the Army's hierarchy lethargic and non strategic approach to the correct form of weaponry deployed by the army. |
bidexiii:Probably the first shown 'fighting' but I remember a few years back of one or two killed on the battlefield by Nigerian soldiers and pics/videos displayed. With the failed state at Syria coming to an end, I'd hope the focus will not be to come settle in the NE. |
Nah, this guy is becoming too confident. His downfall is going to be colossal. |
Quite strange allowing his members not picking up their pvc only to then pull off a stunt like this. Pretty sure Peter Obi would have polled even more significant SE votes had this not happened. |
A most practical candidate in my book would be Moghalu. Sowore seems like a very leftist in the mould of a Hugo Chavez. Those types of leaders don't end well due to their misapplication of rules and also unconventional practices. Example is the #100, 000 minimum wage. That means a dramatic increase in wages also for those above the minimum wage bracket. |
Lmao. This dude is in charge of Nigeria? Who did this to us?? |
Buhari lacks many skillsets in ruling Nigeria and then you get Atiku, a most hypocritical aspirant. I worry for the future of Nigeria seeing this 2 are the strongest candidates. Would have been the best time for a 'Third force' but instead they're so divided that it makes it an exercise in futility. |
obonomaa:Sorry, I only believe this guy is an opportunist probably clinging on to this yearly exhibitions to remain relevant to his religious followers and attract new people to his fold. His links to China via his ckd business alone should have seen him advance his manufacturing via CNC tools for example. He's also not exactly poor but I'm sure most banks after seeing his inventions aren't going to even consider throwing money down the drain. All we see are hand tools used to build 'advanced' parts. Innoson in far shorter time is now automated, Proforce - far younger with better APC/MRAP plus use of CNC machines. No miracle can allow those contraptions fly or work to their basic functions if they fail fundamental laws of physics. |
Nah...!?!! ![]() This sort of bullshite can just make me declare myself stateless and no longer a Nigerian citizen. How's he still in power?? |
Centrifude:The same Katanka has been producing star trek designs pulled from their leaders fantasies which after exhibition never see the light of day especially considering how long his company has existed and never any viable products (except his ckd cars) We have produced concept up to end product hardwares. That guy makes Ghana look silly and shouldn't be attempted to be compared to any phase in Nigeria. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTv7AqH7AHY |
Xbee007:Let them stick to Mi24/35s. Egypt is experiencing issues with the Alligator helicopter in hot climatic conditions and searching for alternatives. Meanwhile, here's the typically maladaptive leader in Buhari remaining rigid on changing the security hierarchy. President Buhari has given reasons why he has not changed the service chiefs. |
There's a level of arrogance in Pres Buhari. Explains why his government is like this. Strong headed, stubborn and doesn't listen even if he seems to have no idea. |
Centrifude:Please, don't patronise that. Katanka has been making barely functional products with little to no recourse to proper engineering. Exoskeleton na beans? From 'rocket launchers' fighting robots to whatever wild contraption, we're still waiting for an actual item that works. Besides they have been there many years before Proforce started. |
Sad comments all around. I just think the level of education in the country is intentionally bad so that they can continually be oppressed by politicians. Rather than your own funds, most countries depend on donations from supporters. Additionally, campaign funds are audited to ensure it was spent for that purpose alone. |
Xbee007:Now that's an asset we saw very little about. BH were used to evening raids which meant demure responses from the airforce cos of night capabilities. |
All blame lies on the shoulders of the one who proposed that BH were 'technically defeated' to the authorities. Should have been the first to have been fired. That narrative was as well given life when the army decided to slip on the neutral gear, remaining stationary and inviting opportunities for bh to try seize the momentum. Anyway, I think all that can be said has been said on this thread by everyone possible. It's up to them to be proactive and do right. |
Just be careful on this thread. The way I don't trust the authorities anymore, they can go on to use state apparatus to start profiling us cos we're calling them out. Anyway, it's a new year. We hope for better exploits and end to evil. |
