SocialJustice:Since 2009, they can't complete a single stretch of 2 lines. Instead it's taking 13 years! This should been completed in 2013 and more lines added already. This should be enough to vote them out for incompetency!

He's yet to win elections but already acting like a de-facto governor. Unfortunate, his tin pot godfather and thugs are their only way to win elections. |
By its completion date, it'll already be inadequate and far below what's needed to ease transport problems in Lagos. Shocking how long it is taking... Where are the cable cars and so promised in the past? Lagos should have finished this and started drawing blueprints for a metro system. If you build up most transport hubs, then introduce 'congestion charges' to traffic hotspots to encourage less use of cars in areas adequately served by rail transport. Example is India's capital New Delhi metro. Construction started in 2002, first phase completed by 2006. New stations constantly added too.

You'll think as governors then, they'll have made a more conducive environment for job creation. No! After doing Bleep-all, they then remember the bleak prospects and limited opportunities they created, so here they are 'fixing' their friends and families. Tinubu and family, Oshiomole and family, Okorocha and family. Only the latter is as eccentric and mad as Caligula. |
Better ways to say this is for the government to create similar levels of airports, sea ports and incentives to move the strain off Lagos. Ambode isn't even from Lagos. Lagos pops because of the cosmopolitan nature. Some states aren't viable either but his comment is unfortunate. |
baslone:No Sir. I mean an organisation or charity that caters towards gambling addiction. Compulsive gambling is already a health/social disorder with the 'peculiarity that the outcome of the game always favors the one who manages the gambling' i.e nairabet. ..'pathological and problematic gamblers are not able to rationally make that decision, and gambling operators have no interest in preventing their “best” customers from gambling, such decisions must be made by public authorities.' If you don't force them to part with a bit of their massive profits towards preventing or cure of addiction, it'll become an expensive societal problem that can break homes, families and even theft. |
Nothing wrong with his business, but he should be forced to part a tiny percentage of his company's revenue towards an organisation catering towards gambling addiction and problem gambling. It's a actual disorder that's got far reaching consequences. |
Away from basic infrastructures necessary for larger revenue generation. Let's agree there are lost opportunities for additional revenue generation especially from businesses running 'offline'. Service companies, online businesses, etc. Physical stores can't mostly avoid paying some forms of tax, as they've got to pay local government taxes etc. It took me a best part of a year plus to get registered because after deciding they didn't like my first company name, they then mistyped the name at the final step. Took me another few months just to change the name! To register for a business bank account and start paying VAT and taxes, was another issue as I wasn't in the country, therefore the bank wouldn't open even when a staff Manager went. Ended up paying nothing due to the issues above. |
Rossikki:Diversification is a way, yes! However it still needs robust investment from the Government to make it happen. A good example is Konga Nigeria struggling as one of the foremost potential online retailer in Nigeria. Their problem included but not limited lack of courier infrastructures which lead to unsustainable cash burning. Clients also struggled in accessing greater variety of products due to high data costs which lead to unconverted sales. In other words, lack of government investment in infrastructure has seen the business resize and even effectively downsize their workforce. If money for 'base infrastructures' are stolen, we can only go as far. The Miracle on the Han River (South Korea) is an example of a blueprint to follow. They aggressively started 'Five year plans' which they followed while surppessing theft. Ours is unfortunately a scattergun approach to development. One clueless government after another with no comprehensive policy. Energy, agricultural productivity, technological advancement should have been in place since 1999, by now we should be focused on heavy industries and tech intensive industries if we had a roadmap set. |
Corruption STILL remains a potent factor regardless of our earnings. Stolen sums which could have been applied towards 'base infrastructure' are stolen which further prolongs our ability to develop and earn the comparable incomes from other countries you posted. Apparently, Lagos to Ibadan train line cost $1.8 B, however $2B plus was disbursed to individuals under guise of elections. Diversifying our earnings would require certain aspects of infrastructures to be fixed. Away from taxes or vat which are critically low, we CAN NOT DEVELOP without infrastructures to support industrialisation. It's similar to owning a business on a small scale, if all funds were siphoned off instead of expanding your operation. Corruption exists everywhere however developed systems make you PAY when known which their citizens know the consequences, big or small. Ours rewards stealing hence struggling to prosecute the most obvious thieves. |
...Trying to convince myself if this isn't one of the most shameless countries on the planet. Thiefs and fraudsters all patting themselves at the top is definitely an hallmark of a depraved society. |
This Lagos can really be crazy. Grew up with a bunch of friends in Festac, early 90's, 2000 (when still somewhat good). However one of our childhood friend had to relocate and moved to Mafoluku. At present, I'm scared of his appearance, pics or videos on his fb. Throws cult signs, smoking weed and that shebang. If Lagos wants to be great, these areas need critical looking into. I never heard of children scared of visiting other areas in Lagos until now. I grew up with my Chopper bicycle and with or without my football, I rode to far and wide plus playing 'monkey post' with kids from entirely different areas if my close boys weren't available. Not once was I chased down or fought with by anyone... |
Holla911:EDIT... Done my research, the kid is still alive. This kid is from Shogunle. He's now named Michael. The one who died is in the video I last posted, his street name was Success (Yusuf Folarin) Died at Akala as you said. Until now I didn't know the level of violence, cult following in these areas of Lagos until this week. Kids joining frats due to areas they're born in and bleak futures. Shame on the state especially the one who use them for elections, Stealing their futures. |
Yossarian:Sure it is... I never knew of the level of depstitution until I came across some of these short docs showing life in the areas. Its best to steer clear of this vices growing up because quite a few rehabilitated relapsed or got killed. Holla911:This is one of the series you must be talking about. This guy seemed to turn his life around but got ambushed after going to visit his former abode. I am just shocked. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56hREbr7zKg |
Holla911:Damn! Are you sure about that? I mean there's a video on youtube showing him reformed. |
numbered:Pontoon bridge or you can call it that. It looks like of Russian origin. |
Reading this thread since yesterday. I hope the country can develop past this. Some children seem unaffected by their environment but others grow up and become menace to the society. The boy in the video though now rehabilitated by a Pastor scared daylights out of me for his future until he was helped out of that life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pw1jMoPqimQ |
I maintain Buhari may have been very divisive and lacked in many departments. He's a tad bit insensitive and seems to know nothing about economic development than kworuption. At best, he's a better fit for EFCC chairman than President. But we surely need better than the likes of Atiku and Co. I can't see redemption past the likes of Atiku and an appointment of Saraki as DG who are some of the biggest crooks leaping from government to government looting till kingdom come. The current exposure of corruption even if a bit partisan may be shoved under the rug or completely forgotten under Atiku. Don't mention Sowore either because while he may mean well, he's definitely clueless about some of his electoral promises. #100, 000 minimum wage, ban police extortions, marijuana exports et al. We need more serious manifesto, eg cotton export, nickel mining, energy sector and other things. I love the message here though. |
As a sucker for logistics. I want to confirm the identity of this vehicle shown during the independence day celebrations. Looks like a bridge layer or pontoon bridge. We equally need investments in non frontline hardware as well. About the airforce forensics lab, there's quite a bit they can do in identifying ex or existing BH members who infiltrate back to IDP or society using info from... Last time I posted the suggestion here, while considered very useful by few members including nemesis, I was asked to edit or erase the suggestion and put it forward to the appropriate body. I hope it might have been taken up already by the authorities.

An English man and Croatian may both be Caucasian but they're culturally different. If the school was borne out of Need for 'African Americans, then I see no issues with their complaints. It'll be another issue if African Americans don't want to go to universities hence Africans taking up admission. Example would be Nigerians taking up spaces for Seychelles students. |
Tinubu is a local warlord and Mafia boss whose hope for influence can only be achieved through thuggery and treachery. Outside of that, what sort of influence has he got?? Obasanjo is a statesman who is able to critique, advice and also engage across all strata of the country. Internationally respected and without the fraudulent undertone of the Mr Bigs of the SW. |
Actually politicians in sane climates solicit for funds and donations during campaigns for elections. Our system of self finance encourages the terrible corruption and theft by politicians who then try to recoup their 'investment' when they get into power. That way there's no conflict of interest. Donald Trump was censured for using his personal millions to buck up his campaign funds. Campaign funds and donations are also declared and audited by an appropriate body after the election to ascertain no misuse of money. Terribly shameful at the level of thinking and education going by the comments here. |
This is common to a few countries actually with varying degrees of flexibility. Multinationals based in the ND do pay taxes abroad to their local countries even after paying tax here. This law significantly applies to people like Dangote and the few Nigerian companies with substantial income abroad who would otherwise have claimed large dividends and brought back into the country without paying a dime. |
The Nigerian one looks fine for purpose. I'll just add more robust tyres and upgrade the suspension. |
Forza Horizon 4 |
The nation is too divided. For all I see, there's almost none that appeals strongly to especially SW, SS, SE states. The prominent names of Saraki and Atiku are not credible in my books (coming from lackluster performances in previous administration) If wishes were horses, The Emir of Kano (Sanusi) may have been a better choice for Nigeria than the names presented by the 2 major parties. Outside of that, the other political parties are far too many and would divide votes that may have been better for a strong challenge against the incumbent. |
Shocking from my people to concede and worship at the foot of one of the major oppressors in the country. Slowly but surely, he's gathering an army of unemployed youths whose main jobs are extortion or fighting under an umbrella guise of NURTW. These rogues are then used to push and subvert elections in their favour all over the SW. PVCs or votes are looking less important! Show of shame for the members of the Tinubu Criminal Mafia who are here extolling the criminal virtues of their overlord. |
Direct Primaries or direct imposition? Shame at his slaves who'll soon arrive here to call others name for not wanting a pest to lord over the SW. |
Tinubu masterplan includes the following but not limited to; Retain NURTW/area boys for in house dirty work, Confer and select choice Lagos properties, Allocate marginal but SIGNIFICANT percentage of Lagos tax to private pocket, impose choice cronies amongst others. |
Apparently if you refuse to be led like sheep to the slaughter, then you're Igbo? Ass licker of tyranny and evil. P.S. I also happen to be yoruba and I am in opposition to the current state of the country down to that tin pot dictator in Lagos. Let them fight and expose each others asses. |
Tinubu continued use of quasi legal thugs and extortionists is what he continues to use to win elections. I don't care for Adeleke but for thuggery, hired hands (from NURTW) etc to subvert the wishes of the population is a throwback to oppression pre 1999. 2019 is no longer looking credible.

Odunayaw:My bad. Fair enough but other points still stands... |
