I could only be proud of few videos if I typed in 'Nigeria army training' on YouTube. The rest are diabolical abuse and torture to the point the same soldiers then turn on the civilians they're meant to protect. BH is purposely attacking mostly in the evening or poor light/weather when very few air support can be mustered. We're losing soldiers in a month what other countries lost in a year especially as its on home soil! Adopt the mantra... 'Always outnumbered, never outgunned' |
lebuhsi:To be honest, I'm stumped on how to go about that. There's local dynamics at play here. There's reasons why it's being localised to North East rather than all over the North. We do have the basic denominators of illiteracy, abandoned/neglected children (who are potentially easy recruits to fight against the state) plus borderline extremist beliefs (considering the many iterations of religious violence endured in the past - some as flimsy killings in the name of hosting Miss World) We can defeat them militarily but also ensure systems where ideas or beliefs aren't allowed to gain military strength while also working on turning hearts and minds away from evil. |
lebuhsi:You don't negotiate with certain types of terrorists. What concessions do you offer religious fanatics who increasingly demand more often than necessary? Sharia in the North then they're killing off non adherents and proclaiming they're not subject to the constitution. Afghanistan and or Pakistan aren't the best examples of why we should kowtow cos their armies are terrible and some of their soldiers are also apathetic to their government they claim to be for. With political will Iraq & Syria collectively ran their offensives in parallel until shitty state lost almost all of their positions plus they're constantly being attacked. Both countries enjoy similar benefits with Nigeria in having soldiers with far opposed ideologies to the terrorists they fight. The unfit training/doctrine norm is what the current hierarchy is exhibiting. Example, ordinary army cadets are on the front page today beating up a civilian. Same pattern all over the country cos the same they go through in the name of training which they think it's alright to do. With the attacks, we simply don't know the dynamics of warfare. Probably they ran out of ammo or got surprised. However the patterns are too awfully similar for them not to have fixed the issues. Bases overrun, looted and to be continued at the next position. It also looks like the army is under manned with soldiers spending far too long on front lines becoming demoralised or losing the will to keep fighting through horrors and mental strength. I'm seeing katyusha, tanks, apcs getting destroyed or seized by enemies attacking with hmg, aa guns and lots of half trained recruits. Nigeria is also reaping the benefits of the people they elect. Arguing about Jonathan and Buhari like both didn't 'come, see and failed woefully' This country is breeding a terrible system of governance that means people don't even know what leadership entails. The piecemeal semblance of terrible governance is what some of you arel fighting over abi? After all, it isn't like they didn't collectively oversee the murder of tens of thousands of Nigerians but they did nothing to stymie that trend. If you want to negotiate, do it with the type of ND militants or the various disenfranchised groups. However to Negotiate with these bastards bh and the other group especially from the current position of weakness, then be prepared to lose more than we've seen. |
nemesis8u:Yes I'm not surprised at civilian Indian companies/people carrying out research for other nations. I understand a bit more now on ToT. All good the level of progress considering the steep price to pay for top notch products. |
nemesis8u:I'm interested in your military industrial complex. We already know India is a heavyweight in IT and STEM subjects. Apart from massive investments in R& D, how did you advance your capabilities to quite advanced levels? Plus how much emphasis does India place on acquiring technology transfer. |
6 brand new cars every 3 years. 300% furniture allowance. House in Lagos and Abuja? Tinubu...the greatest robber in Lagos wallows in decadence yet his supporters are out here feeding from the crumbs off his table. |
BabaOwen:They should try to constantly broadcast the faces of these wanted guys on social media, after NTA 9PM news, twitter, etc. Let there be no peace for the wicked. |
Buhari and Jonathan, aren't they the worst of the worst. End of all, its one bad followed by another equally bad deciding our fate and guess who suffers? In between them are the masses who choose to put their faith in people like that. Jonathan's indifference coupled with arrogance of Buhari when security issues are concerned. Military remained same old, insufficient and undertrained. From whence would security assurance come with those qualities above. Political will is where it's all at. Else next incoming President, it'll be same old shitt. |
iamnen:NYTIMES just dropped another footage. Usual falsehood was shared to justify the execution of civilians in broad day light because the army can't get a grip over its recruits. Seems most get stripped of humanity when they pass out army training. My ex classmate; a Major shared same HQ Army's response on Facebook 'For our attention' to justify the act. Unfortunately we're still seeing no appetite for change from the highest level and acts like this are multiplier effects for low level conflicts and sabotage against the country. |
frumentius:A complimentary read. https://peccaviconsulting./2018/11/30/game-changers-in-the-north-eastern-nigerian-security-situation/ |
SternProphet:Lies. Su-25 are not worth $80 million or so anywhere. It's also on record how Iraq bought 6 Su25s on emergency from Russia. They Arrived so quickly, they had no pilots to fly them. (Warisboring and other blogs are there for reference) Consequently they also lost more than 3 Su25s within the first 6 months of delivery. Now while it may have been a strategic supply from Russia trying to gain clout in Iraq against perceived American slow pace of aircraft deliveries, they received this aircraft in less than 6 months. Greed and corruption is why the Israeli deal failed. (this was discussed extensively on Beegs blog then) It's therefore not impossible but we've more or less put all eggs in a basket that should we buy Su25s, we'll have no one to fly them cos we've mostly trained on certain types of jets. At this stage, Alpha jets or F7s may just be our best bet if needing immediate air support. But we need to do better in assessing future threats lest its all inappropriate fits again in the future. |
Henry240:Lol. I like this. Let's see them more involved in the frontline building reliable fortifications for FOBs. These earth movers and engineers were ever present in kicking out shitty state in Syria and Iraq keeping frontlines stable and terrorists at bay. Many raids with help from recoilless rifles or similar stopped many raids from terrorists who couldn't simply get over imposing berms built. |
Wow. This guy is doing too much... In as much injustices in Nigeria, its evil to wish doom, war, rape on us especially by a demented group as ISIS. This is a most irrational comment even seeing he'll be far removed outside Nigeria from the chaos and blood let he's hailing upon everyone else. |
Away from offensive weapons and so. When do we get serious about buying hardware and equipment for Nigerian army engineers, nor do we hear anything or rarely see photos of our Army engineers. I'd rather this Corps get extensive investments in equipment and training as they can make a lot of difference on FOBs lest you start losing expensive hardwares from being overrun by insurgents time over again. We need uparmored tractors/excavators, base defence apparatus, etc as much as we need gunships and tanks. We're struggling because we are building isolated bases without securing our flanks. With our stop-go offensives, the consequences are these unending counterattack/raids on our frontline bases. |
Feels sad successive governments use this bridge construction for propaganda closer to elections. Started from Obasanjo in 2007. |
I am more concerned a judge can grant a restraining order into an investigation like this. This country is slowly becoming failed and I pity the remaning Nigerians seating and watching crooks get away with impunity. |
kabe1:The same guy who lampooned Beegs for abandoning his blog ko.lol. End of the day, one might get to the nadir supporting a system that doesn't seem to want to change for the better. |
Seriously can become a huge issue that can damage confidence in our financial sector if not handled properly. Too much scams, frauds and then the banks mostly refuse or just prolong paying out for their lack of security. Reason why I get scared leaving large sums in Nigerian banks cos you don't want to listen to stories that touch. This can run businesses and banks aground if we don't step up in investigating and prosecution of fraud. |
Damn, Tucano in 2024. We should have had SU 25 and more Mi35s since yesterday. Iraqi acquisition went eclectic with T50, L159, mi28,35. We don't get handouts from anyone but I hope we can get decent hardwares in time. They also modified AN 32 transport aircrafts as heavy bomber against 'Shitty State' |
Why do we seem to have an unending line of jobless, deceitful lying bloggers. You think you'll make it spreading falsehood and rumours? Same with the idiot that started the fake Putin African comment. |
nemesis8u:Training comes with many aspects. Nigeria may not have the funds to buy the most effective weapons but they can be maximised to make effective use of what they already have. If our doctrine had evolved to specifying minimum requirements for setting up FOBs, then probably we run less risk of overrun. code of practices regarding stocks and ammo would ensure no resupply for an advancing army. Saying that, we do need few weapons to make our position better. A FOB with thrice stacked hesco barriers may find it less problematic dealing with suppressive fire from an AAA than a minimal fenced, trenched fob. Tanks may not be best but we only have as much armour. At the end of the day, it is about using the best out of what we have. At Deir Ez zor, it was T72s flanked by AAA and another T72 which worked perfectly. Our use of a single deployed tank may not be the best. Add the terrain too. Saudi with the best equipment is still considered terrible against easily adaptable guerilla warfare. |
frumentius:He should have made his remarks without dwelling much on government. The unit they trained could be able to offer insights on what they do so well that others weren't. But I understand the part of the units claiming overuse and similar extending to our SF units. Postulation about BH as a cannon fodder to prevent a coup will now haunt him and I think there'll be recalcitrance from Nigeria to consult nor to talk of training unless there's a change of government. |
https://peccaviconsulting./2018/09/27/battle-of-the-fobs-boko-haram-iswaps-2018-rainy-season-offensive-2/ 4) The Approach:All materials from Peccavi's blog. Lots of elaborate insights and discourse of the current NE insurgency. |
https://peccaviconsulting./2018/09/17/battle-of-the-fobs-boko-haram-iswaps-2018-rainy-season-offensive-1/ Type of attacks: other than the ambushes in Tarmuwa and Boboshe, all the attacks have been deliberate combined arms attacks with support weapons such as vehicle mounted AAA guns, mortars, improvised rockets and recoilless rifles, as well as dismounts with small arms, RPGs and machine guns. Enemy tactics have varied slightly, with deception being used in some circumstances to gain entry, in others support weapons have been used to suppress the position before attack. However in all cases the enemy uses overwhelming force in their attacks. |
Odunayaw:My bad. All fair and noted. However if that's what Phase 1 of NA training looks like, then I shudder at what the remaining training courses are... Most of the videos on YouTube are more hazing vs actual useful combatant tips. Geronimoe:For the fact that 9 out 10 of NA lacks an effective but simple Base defence shows the level of training they receive from Generals down to the last Private soldier in the army. Instead its all trenches and sand mounds like its world war 1 all over again. The war in Afghanistan saw respective armies tweaking and modifying their doctrines extensively, leading to lesser casualties as the war progressed and introducing them to the new nature of war in the current era which they could effectively counter. |
bidex111:They need to gut the whole training manual or whatever it is for a more concise and coherent training. The insurgency is 10 years old! Shocking they're still vulnerable to hit and run attacks!! The dynamics of the battle may have had nothing to do with indiscipline afterall but for an apparent lack of protocol ala Base defence, communication and regrouping. Away from the obligatory obstacle and marksmanship training for infantry at Kaduna, what about organisation, hierarchy of command when things go awry and night time training. The depot's videos on training on YouTube are embarrassing, its more of corporal punishment than noteworthy training that can be the difference on a battlefield. As for The Base, it was a stationary target and already the enemies could easily have employed some advantages to flank, overwhelm and choke off escape routes. As for the current crops of generals, it may be they're also ill suited in their thinking if we're looking at the level of terrible training inherent in 80s, 90s and early 2000. Basically, garbage in, garbage out. |
Maybe there's a fundamental problem with Nigerian army training doctrine? Its still very haphazard and lots of loopholes uncatered for? |
They need to update on their manifestos first. Top parties are stronger because of the illicit finance fundings (government coffers, own funds or investment from godfathers) Moghalu or Ezekweseli if I had to choose. Sowore looks like a far left |
Hello, where's the alternate source of funds coming from And $900 billion ![]() Shocking and shows how far removed from reality these guys in power and seeking elections are. Our vat is virtually non existent for a start at 5%, employment tax is negligible and many sectors are untaxed. Yet a presidential candidate talks about reducing tax? |
Massive problem with Nigeria. People investing money in politics in order to reap returns later on surely means we're not going to progress. Nothing was said about infrastructures and development but financial empowerment. We can only stop this if we introduce electoral laws that monitors and audit donations to political parties. It SHOULD BE A CONFLICT OF INTEREST FOR A DONOR to PARTICIPATE IN GOVERNMENT TO REAP THEIR INVESTMENTS. It's going to take a new mindset to move forward. |
chineji:I'm sorry but your story shows you vain, myopic and with a narrow mindset. I thought you were comparing living standards until you also decided to pick on women from your own race!? |
How can you pay #100, 000 when a significant number of the population works for the government? Does he understand how much wage bill it'll be every month? Unless you get conglomerates (other than Dangote), multinationals, smes and give them first class infrastructures on ground, we'll continue to struggle attracting companies that can absorb and pay decent wages. |
