Politics / Re: Nigeria Loses ₦2 Billion Daily To Twitter Ban - NetBlocks (Sahara Reporters) by BlackFlamefromP: 11:23pm On Jun 06, 2021
You know Sahara Reporter is a big scam. The online newspaper and twitter itself are the losers here as far as money making is concerned.

meobizy:
The report is completely baseless and shows why Nigerians hardly comprehend simple write-ups. If anything, it goes deeper into the president's response to anarchy than how exactly the ban constricts daily revenue. I was left speechless on seeing the title, wondering how the service creates so much when it's not petroleum-based. I'm left with assurance that the ban changes nothing. Twitter is not an oil company and means nothing to the average Nigerian.

Politics / Re: #EndSARS: Autopsy Conducted On 99 Bodies, 3 From Lekki Toll Gate – Pathologist by BlackFlamefromP: 12:59pm On Jun 06, 2021
At the risk of being devoured by sentimental Nairalanders, I must say my mind clearly on this issue.

You see, it's good to have emotion. Human emotion has its value and place in human life. But when human beings allow emotion to becloud clear logical thinking and objectivity then things are bound to be unnecessarily complicated.

I must say this: I don't bloody care if anybody died in Lekki tollgate that night or not. I have absolutely no sympathy for them even if they were my family members. Why? Because they had no business being in that tollgate in the first place in defiance of authority and curfew that was in place.

When the 'endSARS' protest started, the protest was justifiable and understandable because of the extreme brutality of SARS. But after the FG had bowed to immense pressure and decided to terminate the SARS unit of police force for peace to reign there was no longer any justification for the continuation of the protest.

I lost absolute sympathy for the protesters when they unjustifiably persisted on the endSars protest despite the fact that SARS no longer existed. The protesters became intoxicated and addicted to the protest and wanted it to continue indefinitely.

They started mounting road blocks thereby obstructing free movement, they went to airports, national assembly and disrupted activities there and some other places. It got to a point where they completely grounded economic activities every where, and mind you, they did all these and many more despite the fact that the FG had been humbled enough to bow to their demand by ending SARS. There is no government anywhere in the world that would not be forced to be ruthless with the so-called protesters as there was no longer any justification for it.

It was becoming obvious that enemies of Nigeria who had been looking for opportunity to destroy the country wanted to use the so-called 'peaceful, armless protesters' carrying Nigerian flag around to destroy the country under the pretext of excercising their right to 'peaceful protest'.

In the midst of the chaos and anarchy that prevailed in the land as a result of the so-called protest plus the negative impact it was having on the economy, the Lagos State governor in his wisdom, imposed curfew on the state in order to avoid total uncontrollable anarchy and total breakdown of law and order. But the idiots, being intoxicated by their new-found power of protest insisted on defying the authority and still came out.

Even God says we should respect those in authority. The people who came out to continue the 'protest' in Lekki tollgate that night clearly disobeyed and defied authority without any justification and by extension, they disobeyed and defied God himself. As far as I am concerned, they are responsible for whatever happened to them.

And by the way, immediately after the Lekki incident, there was bloody protest where many police stations were burnt and police officers gruesomely murdered. Some police officers were burnt and eaten by the protesters, some beheaded, some butchered into pieces and do many unimmaginable attrocities! What else do you people want again to be satisfied?

Politics / Re: When Will Twitter Ban Nnamdi Kanu's Hate Speeches? by BlackFlamefromP: 4:24pm On Jun 05, 2021
Well, no matter how you choose to see it, to me twitter ban in Nigeria is long overdue as a result of its negative influence on Nigeria as a country. I personally will miss twitter because I know a number of times I needed my bank to resolve some issues with my account, I just contacted them on twitter and the issues were resolved. I have had similar experience with other companies I transact with. I will also miss inspirational messages I normally get from twitter. Despite all these I'm happy about this ban because its for the interest of Nigeria. I have other platforms to contact banks or any other organization I do business with. So, I can do without twitter

WoundedLamb:

Well, the government didn't ban Twitter when these "negative influences" grew before us. They didn't ban Twitter when Nnamdi Kanu made it his platform. They didn't ban Twitter cause of the all the fake news we see there. They banned Twitter cause Buhari's post was deleted, and that's the point. Taking away Twitter from more than 200 million potential users cause your post was deleted is more emotional than logical. Besides, you don't cut off your head cause you have a headache. We don't ban things cause they have bad sides as virtually everything does, and you might just end up banning smart phones and computers. You put measures in place to check the undesired effects.

My take.

LOL. The same way you voted for Buhari 'With SPEED without THINKING TWICE and with Excess JOY in your Heart' despite all the red flags and warnings from well-informed people. You had a delusional believe that 'sai baba's body language alone will magically solve all Nigeria"s problem and make your misery go away. So you voted for him 'with speed and without thinking twice' but here you are.

Let me say this, you can write it down:

if igbos have Biafra today, I give you less than 3 months they will start fighting with themselves. Biafra nation will be so unstable and crises prone that igbos will eventually discover that it was the forces and influence of the Federal Government of Nigeria that stabilized their region all these while. They just jump from fire to fry pan.

As for Oduduwa, although Oduduwa nation has the potential of being more peaceful and politically stable than Biafra, they will most likely go through serious economic hardship for a very long time.

Good luck to all of you.

Oga observation, experience and common sense should tell you that pure democracy as practiced in some advance countries in Europe and also in US is not advisable in a country like Nigeria because of the kind of people Nigerians are. What Nigeria needs is some elements of democracy combined with some elements of dictatorship otherwise unpatriotic forces will overwhelm the government and bring the nation down, making complete mess of the country.

I am in total support of the twitter ban as its negative influences on Nigeria has been overwhelming

WoundedLamb:

Seriously, China? Dude, we are not in China. You cannot treat China's social media ban in isolation. If you're advocating the Chinese style of government, they you'd be prepared to embrace the totality of what comes with the absence of democracy. The Chinese government can ban any website without issues cause they never claimed to be democratic. As of 2019, the governments of China, Iran, North Korea, and Turkmenistan have blocked access to Twitter in those countries and nobody is saying anything cause they are not democratic nations. The deletion of Buhari's tweets is simply no justification for doing that in Nigeria except the government is telling us the style of government has changed.

In fact, I'm surprised you even mentioned democracy in your post cause nothing you said is remotely democratic, no disrespect intended. The president's tweets were deleted and the next line of action is to stop all his citizens from freely accessing the app even without their consent? And you still said "that is democracy"? Even in countries where social media is regulated, it's mostly to avoid crimes and hate speeches. How do you explain that your president banned the app in Nigeria simply cause his personal tweets were deleted?

What exactly is the oyibo way here? And what would then be the African way? Moderating other individuals while allowing certain class of people to post just anything? You guys complain about Nigeria, yet you're not willing to let go those things that make Nigeria a terrible place. Yes, you mustn't do everything like oyibo but sadly, it's thier platform and they have rules you must follow. And as far as that app is concerned, the creators are the gods and thier rules stand. You can leave thier platform if you feel unfairly treated or create yours if thier concepts don't appeal to you. Just don't expect special treatments. And whatever you do, you don't drag the entire nation into it.

The ban on twitter is a good decision Mr. Man. That platform has been having much negative and destructive influences on Nigeria as a country. Those who think they can use VPN to access twitter I wish them luck. For me it is bye bye to twitter until the ban is lifted.

SultanOfPuna:
[s]What buhari does not understand is that
HE HAS SHOT HIMSELF IN THE FOOT
Let me explain
Twitter respect and value Nigerian users because we are the only country in Africa with the highest online TRAFFIC.
Up to 13 million users generate millions of traffic for Twitter per day from Nigeria Only

Now that buhari ban Twitter, this is how he messed up big time
1. Nigerians now use VPN majority of this VPN have U.S.A as default country
2. The heavy traffic generated by Nigerians on Twitter will now be shifted towards U.S A Twitter
Our hashtags will now be trending on U.S.A Twitter
3. The WHOLE WORLD will see our hashtags and trending topics
Buharis matter will cast WORLDWIDE

This is a blessing in disguise
Nigerians are using VPN with different states in U.S.A this has channelled that our heavy traffic into U.S.A Twitter front page.

So Any American that wakes up and check Twitter will see hashtags like
#Buhariisadictator
#TwitterbaninNigeria
#Endsars

To make it worse, VPN has many European countries. Nigerians can choose to use VPN of German country. With our heavy traffic our hashtags will be trending in Germany..lmao
Every European that has no interest in Nigeria will be interested by force grin
All buharis Fuckups will not only trend in Nigeria but it will trend WORLDWIDE

P.s edit: U need to see the amount of replies I'm receiving from BMC workers.

Twitter as a form of social media, should not be an agent for destabilization but a tool for deepening democracy and promoting good governance in Nigeria and Africa as a whole..

Twitter must respect the sovereign integrity of nations wherein they operate.

If a government had designated a group as a terrorist group, Twitter has no justification to allow such groups to propagate their rhetoric via their platform.

If Twitter has the right to remove/block anybody out of their platform for breaking their 'rules' , countries too have the same right to ban or suspend Twitter operations in their countries as well for aiding or abetting Terrorists.

Good to know that there is a Nigerian-made app that can compete very well with twitter. I have been wondering if there is no Nigerian that can create a platform that can compete favourably with all these social media platforms.

Nigerians can generate ideas that can solve Nigeria's problem if we make good use of our brain.

These days it's common to see misguided, delusional youths claiming that they have 'woken up'.

Oga, hating your country is not evidence of waking up. Complaining a lot about your country's problem without being willing to use your brain to think of solution is not evidence of waking up. Hating the northerners and believing the north is the cause of your misery in life is not evidence of waking up. Foolishly wishing your nation evil and saying all sorts of terrible things against your country and your leaders both in social media and offline is not evidence of waking up. Foolishly expecting your country to break up believing that all your problems and miseries in life will magically disappear once your country break up is not evidence of waking up! All these are signs of spiritual and mental sickness. They are signs of escapism from reality and unwillingness to accept responsibility for your life.

You can only prove that are have woken up when you are productive, can make good use of your brain and come up with solution to your country's problems and the problems of humanity in general.

God bless Nigeria

Don't worry. I myself have gone to the highest realm of spiritual dimension to wage war against the forces that want to disintegrate this nation. I have defeated and neutralized all of them. Nigeria remains intact no matter what.

I know all these things are not ordinary. There are forces working on the mind and emotion of many Nigerians to make them hate their country with passion and want it to collapse. But I have seen that they have already failed.

Do you know that even the so-called 'endSARS' protest that you people have been so emotional about wasn't ordinary? On the surface, 'endSARS' protest appeared to be an innocent and 'peaceful' protest against police brutality and for 'betterment' of Nigeria by the youths, but if you looked deeply you would see that some mischievous anti-Nigeria elements were actually using the so-called peaceful protest by 'armless' youths to speedily bring down the country in a way that even terrorism, guerilla warfare or total war would not have been able to achieve! But God pass them! Nigeria had overcome that ploy of the enemies.

Even if 99.9% of Nigerians have been brainwashed and manipulated to passionately want the country to break, only one Nigerian who still love this country and believe in its potential will generate a force that will completely neutralize and subdue all anti-Nigeria forces. This country will come out of this stronger. All these crises will bring out the best in our millitary and the police. Nigeria will become greater as a result of all these challenges.

codemaniacs:

If a state can't pay workers then it needs to check for ghost workers, it needs to reduce its workforce so that its recurrent expenditure will be less than recurrent revenue.

also, do not forget that a Yoruba Federal Government will be in place and a percentage of the revenue Lagos and other states makes will go to the Oduduwa FG and will then be shared across all states with Lagos getting the highest allocation.

The man is absolutely right. But all these shortsighted, stupid youths and even stupid elders won't get it and won't agree. In the whole of SW only Lagos, and may be Ogun state can survive for long without handout from the FG. All other states in the SW are 90%, if not 100% dependent on FG for survival. That's why I always laugh at all these secessionists shouting odua, biafra up and down. Obviously they don't think deeply and objectively.

For those of you who like asking whether your ancestors didn't survive before the amalgamation of Nigeria, bear in mind that the system of government practiced at that time was primitive and less expensive, standard of living was simple, primitive and less expensive; and the population was not as high as we have now. so you can't compare the need of that pre-amalgamation era with that of the present generation unless you want to go back to primitive lifestyle and primitive system of government

Nigeria can work if we all join hands together to make it work
