The fact that you havent deactivated means you have an option to access twitter when you want, all it takes is your decision. as long as the choice to visit twitter is totally yours then the BAN is ineffective.
As we speak, active or offline you still count as a member, that is what count as population stats. if una mean business then deactivate maybe then jack will take una serious. aishat understands & knows she had to deactivated.
The ban will be consider effective when its not by your decision you're offline.

Well, the government didn't ban Twitter when these "negative influences" grew before us. They didn't ban Twitter when Nnamdi Kanu made it his platform. They didn't ban Twitter cause of the all the fake news we see there. They banned Twitter cause Buhari's post was deleted, and that's the point. Taking away Twitter from more than 200 million potential users cause your post was deleted is more emotional than logical. Besides, you don't cut off your head cause you have a headache. We don't ban things cause they have bad sides as virtually everything does, and you might just end up banning smart phones and computers. You put measures in place to check the undesired effects.

Seriously, China? Dude, we are not in China. You cannot treat China's social media ban in isolation. If you're advocating the Chinese style of government, they you'd be prepared to embrace the totality of what comes with the absence of democracy. ​The Chinese government can ban any website without issues cause they never claimed to be democratic. As of 2019, the governments of China, Iran, North Korea, and Turkmenistan have blocked access to Twitter in those countries and nobody is saying anything cause they are not democratic nations. In fact, I'm surprised you even mentioned democracy in your post cause nothing you said is remotely democratic, no disrespect intended. The president's tweets were deleted and the next line of action is to stop all his citizens from freely accessing the app even without their consent? And you still said "that is democracy"? Even in countries where social media is regulated, it's mostly to avoid crimes and hate speeches. How do you explain that your president banned the app in Nigeria simply cause his personal tweets were deleted?

What exactly is the oyibo way here? And what would then be the African way? Moderating other individuals while allowing certain class of people to post just anything? You guys complain about Nigeria, yet you're not willing to let go those things that make Nigeria a terrible place. You can leave thier platform if you feel unfairly treated or create yours if thier concepts don't appeal to you. Just don't expect special treatments. Now that buhari ban Twitter, this is how he messed up big time
1. Nigerians now use VPN majority of this VPN have U.S.A as default country
2. The heavy traffic generated by Nigerians on Twitter will now be shifted towards U.S A Twitter
Our hashtags will now be trending on U.S.A Twitter
3. The WHOLE WORLD will see our hashtags and trending topics
Buharis matter will cast WORLDWIDE

This is a blessing in disguise
Nigerians are using VPN with different states in U.S.A this has channelled that our heavy traffic into U.S.A Twitter front page.

So Any American that wakes up and check Twitter will see hashtags like

Twitter as a form of social media, should not be an agent for destabilization but a tool for deepening democracy and promoting good governance in Nigeria and Africa as a whole..

Twitter must respect the sovereign integrity of nations wherein they operate.

If a government had designated a group as a terrorist group, Twitter has no justification to allow such groups to propagate their rhetoric via their platform.

If Twitter has the right to remove/block anybody out of their platform for breaking their 'rules' , countries too have the same right to ban or suspend Twitter operations in their countries as well for aiding or abetting Terrorists.
