PoliticsRe: N300m Bridge Collapses In Enugu by BlackMamba(m): 2:36am On Jul 10, 2007
A governor that cornered local government subventions, while giving his self appointed cronies handout to act as local govt chairmen. EFCC complied loads of allegations of misappropriation of public funds and ended up indicting a few of his kitchen cabinet while he was hiding under the cover of immunity. Despite the overwhelming accusations against this crazy dog, Obasanjo was foolishly dancing around Enugu a couple of weeks before the last election, touting Chimaroke Nnamani as one of the best things that happened to his administration. Am I shocked? Of course not. Anyone with links to the Coal City knows what the deal is. Thank God more projects may not be crashing down since they are structure from previous administrations that he repainted and renamed. Kudos to Obasanjo for using federal might to to unleash one of his mad dogs on Wawa people for eight years.
Car TalkRe: Tinting Car Windows by BlackMamba(m): 11:16pm On Jul 07, 2007
Blackmamba, that makes no sense. It's like saying, "if you marry a blind man you caused him to be blind".
Confusing analogy. huh

You had an option to buy a vehicle with tinted or clear windows. Inconvenient option in Naija, but still an option. Bottom line is that until the statute is amended or interpreted to recognize that tinted windows has become standard, you're still liable if you choose a vehicle with tinted windows when there are clear window options available in the market.

How come you're fascinated with something you've never seen before? huh
Car TalkRe: Tinting Car Windows by BlackMamba(m): 5:47pm On Jul 07, 2007
Since the drivers of vehicles that came stock with tinted windows cannot be said to have "caused" such car windows to be tinted, as specified by wording of the statute above, can we therefore presume there exists a loophole in this law which exempts tinted-window SUV drivers in Nigeria from all liabilities excluding of course the traditional police road-side donations" ?
Save a definite interpretation by the Court on this issue, it's my opinion that if you knowingly purchased a vehicle already fitted with glasses that contravene the statute, you legally "caused" the windows to be so fitted.
SportsRe: Japan Vs Nigeria by BlackMamba(m): 4:48am On Jul 07, 2007
Why is Captain Ozokwor warming the bench? If he is not hurt, it's weird for a captain to be featured as a replacement.
FamilyRe: Living Arrangements by BlackMamba(m): 4:28am On Jul 07, 2007
The never ending visits is as a result of our traditional attachment to extended family. Even if it's uncomfortable, it's a taboo to give family the impression that they're not welcome anytime to your house. You just hope they're smart enough not to abuse it.

It's been the African tradition to have additional children, often in the quest to have multiple sons. Prevailing economic conditions and education is bringing about changes among the younger generation but cultural changes takes time.

Ignorant and selfish folks will continue to have extra kids when it's obvious they can't provide comfortably for the kids. That's why a lot of kids from low income homes in America resort to crime at tender ages.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Please Dont Get Me Wrong. by BlackMamba(m): 4:03am On Jul 07, 2007
Give them the tire thing to go hawk but make sure you get verifiable contact before you let go your product. That's employment. I think.
RomanceRe: Please Read This by BlackMamba(m): 3:53am On Jul 07, 2007
You have to tone down your craze for this girl and get back to your senses. I never buy into a loved one telling you that she needs time off when their is a problem. Any solution to her current problem must be something you approve of and comfortable with. You're not stupid. If you think keeping away from her to resolve the mum issue is in the best interest of the relationship, of course you'll do it. But right now you're obviously concerned about her decision and her reason for it. Bottom line is that you don't trust her. This is the time to be a man and make a decision to continue taking a chance or call it quits.
PoliticsRe: Yar'adua's Cabinet: Husband Replaces Wife by BlackMamba(m): 3:30am On Jul 07, 2007
If the NEWS screwed up their reporting they should be made to pay if you can prove defamation in court. Remamber they're public figures and are held to a different standard in defamation cases. The same law that will make them pay if they're liable protects and emboldens the media as a watchdog.
CultureRe: Why Do Yorubas Classify Every Other Nigerians As Igbo by BlackMamba(m): 9:25pm On Jul 05, 2007
The oily soup and Amala really got me hooked during my stay in Ibadan. Then again may be the good taste comes from the added meat stew that make up 95% of the oily soup. grin
PoliticsRe: Yar'adua's Cabinet: Husband Replaces Wife by BlackMamba(m): 9:10pm On Jul 05, 2007
This is actually the type of investigative reporting that ought to be encouraged. I hope no one is suggesting that they disclose confidential sources. That will definitely kill the media's role as a watchdog. The government should come out and refute the allegations or even sue the NEWS magazine if they have a cause of action.
FamilyRe: Ever Lost Someone As Dear As Family? Come Light A Candle For Them Here by BlackMamba(m): 8:54pm On Jul 05, 2007
Why should I light a candle for dead loved ones? I hate to sheepishly follow traditions that make no sense. If you give a good reason outside of any spiritual mumbo jumbo, I'll erect an alter of candles.
SportsRe: Will Nigeria Ever Have Another Yekini Rasheedi by BlackMamba(m): 8:41pm On Jul 05, 2007
I never liked his ability. Most strikers would have excelled in his position with the top quality players that surrounded him then. You should pray for more Keshis, Eboigbes, Omokaros, Okafors, Shofoluwes, Siasias, Olisehs, Amunikes, Georges and Okochas, if you're dreaming of sticking another Yekini at the 9 position.
SportsRe: Scotland Vs Nigeria by BlackMamba(m): 4:06pm On Jul 05, 2007
how una see that Patience Ozokwo son? e dey play well?
Up until our first match I read in many reports that Nduka Morrison Ozokwo is the Nigerian Captain. Why is he not in the starting line-up? Injury? Performance? I've searched for a report on this development to no avail. This is what frustrates me about the Nigerian press. huh
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Costa Rica: Would You Be Awake? by BlackMamba(m): 5:25pm On Jul 02, 2007
Why was the Nigerian skipper, Morrison Ozokwo, not in the line-up?
PoliticsRe: Major Defeat For G.w. Bush by BlackMamba(m): 10:08pm On Jun 29, 2007
If you are a legal immigrant,it is natural to resent the fact that some people have taken the illegal route. The more illegal immigrants there are,the less opportunity for legal immigration. There is nothing wrong in insisting that the law must be complied with.
Any bloody immigrant, legal or illegal has no moral right to demand legal status of immigrants.
SportsRe: Tennis: Wimbledon 2007 by BlackMamba(m): 10:01pm On Jun 29, 2007
I hoped Tatiana Golovin advanced so that I can see more red "knickers". Enjoyed it while it lasted. grin

SportsRe: Nigeria Is Ready For American Football by BlackMamba(m): 9:33pm On Jun 29, 2007
Baseball will be cheaper and easier to export to Naija. Kids can throw hit and catch balls in open spaces in Naija. Naija kids are naturally athletic and will learn fast. In a decade we may start cutting into all the millions of dollars going to Latin American players. The demand for foreign players in baseball is higher than football (American) or Basketball. And you make more money as a baseball player than any other sports except may be basketball. Another means to help out our poor masses by exporting professional athletes.

PoliticsRe: So Much For Civilisation by BlackMamba(m): 8:31pm On Jun 29, 2007
Our civilization mirrors an unfamiliar culture and values. We might get it right to an extent if we copy diligently but there is bound to be flaws. Unfortunately, it may be too late to reverse course now.
PoliticsRe: Major Defeat For G.w. Bush by BlackMamba(m): 8:19pm On Jun 29, 2007
I can't imagine anyone of African descent been anti-immigration. You lack the standing to antagonize illegal immigrants.
PoliticsRe: Behold The New Man Of Abia In Chains by BlackMamba(m): 3:50pm On Jun 29, 2007
Assuming the pics are real. We can only condemn him if we can prove that the oath he swore is to pay allegiance to an individual rather than the people of Abia that elected him. He has every right to participate in African traditional religion if he so choose. The choice of a Christian God and and any other God is personal.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Becomes Ireland’s First Black Mayor by BlackMamba(m): 3:18pm On Jun 29, 2007
I will emulate him if he gives up all the comfort in Ireland and become the Chairman of a local council in Naija. I know how bleak that is, without joining the Naija corruption train but he'll be my hero if he can pull it off and instill good governance and rule of law. We would then utilize his experience in pulling Naija out of the abyss, one local council at a time.
Nairaland GeneralRe: What Are Your Pet Peeves, Phobias And Things That Irritate You? by BlackMamba(m): 3:02pm On Jun 29, 2007
Once a guy takes you out, wines and dines you, buy you flowers, candy or whatever, next thing he expects to see the color of your drawers. Next time i'll get the bill and buy him gifts too so he won't expect something in return.
Even better. That means you desperately want him to take off your drawers.
FamilyRe: I Got A Job In Lagos: Am I A Bad Mother And Wife? by BlackMamba(m): 9:48pm On Jun 28, 2007
How deep is your husband's concerns about moving to Lagos? You surely seem strong enough to deal with the love and affection you'll miss from your family while away in Lagos, but "husband concerns" can ruin your marriage. Talk to your hubby and make sure he is really on board because guys often keep their fears to themselves.

Deal with it. You date to bone.
PoliticsRe: Who Killed Bola Ige? by BlackMamba(m): 9:14pm On Jun 26, 2007
Do you still want proof of how deeply f*cked up we are as a nation? The minister of Justice was murdered in his bedroom and it's still business as usual.
RomanceRe: Need Your Advice,my Friend Is Inlove With A Cultist Guy. by BlackMamba(m): 8:37pm On Jun 26, 2007
Thanks flakey94 for your candid advice. People tend to make a lot out of this fad called frat/cult. 99% join so they can belong. There are the few really bad guys in school who could killed anyone cult or no cult. In some schools they may not be more than 10 in a frat of over hundreds. They initiate all the havoc. There are also those impressionable ones that committ atrocities to impress. They are not really bad people but just go with the flow. And there are those that have no clue and only answer frat boy in name, pay dues and attend parties. Renouncing or not is all BS. Let your friend figure out who her boy is. Frat do not define nobody.
PoliticsRe: Why Do Nigerian Girls don't Participate In Politics Talks? by BlackMamba(m): 8:18pm On Jun 26, 2007
I'm not sure how many of us here are actively participating in politics. We are pretty much a bunch of rabble rousers having fun talking politics. Those actively in politics are in the corridors of power perpetuating corruption while their cronies lick their ass and wait for their turn to lick the proverbial pear.
PoliticsRe: Calabar: Missplaced Project by BlackMamba(m): 6:50pm On Jun 26, 2007
The blueprint to a successful tenure is to embark on new elephant projects with no realistic expectation of bringing it to fruition. The more structures you put up, the more cut you can get from over-inflated cost of construction. The federal and state governments have had repeated development plans since independence. New administrations never complete any of these money-siphoning projects because you need to start new projects to make the "best" use of your share of oil sales. It's an ever revolving door with no end in sight. All these projects sound and look good but the reality is that they're all a decoy to siphon money. I assure you we'll be talking about the next dream project very soon.
