Politics › Re: 9 Christians Caught Attempting To Bomb COCIN Church In Bauchi by bodejohn(m): 10:33pm On Feb 26, 2012
I cannot but laugh at those saying christians cannot carry or detonate bombs. Didn't the same bible you carry say the hearts of men are desperately wicked? Or maybe your versions only said the hearts of muslims or others but not christians are. Have we not seen pastors who swindle and take advantage of the congregation? Is pastor King not currently on death roll for setting ablaze a female church member because she was having an affair with another church member. I wrote a reply to a topic on how the US is tightening the noose of visa seekers that very soon people with christian names might begin to wear bomb underpants. This is a clear case of if you sow a storm you will reap a whirlwind. The state we are in this country is as a result of failed leadership. Not only in government but at all levels of administration including our families. If we do not rediscover ourselves on time even a herbalist will bomb his shrine and say it is boko haram and look up to the CBN to come do her CSR.
Travel › Re: Nigeria: Abdulmutallab Episode - Tightening The Noose On Visa Ap by bodejohn(m): 11:03pm On Feb 22, 2012
The US might just be wasting their time with all these additional security bottlenecks. The terrorist networks will not go and use a poor boy from my village to attack them because they know they will check and double check. I will not be surprised if one day someone with a christian name tries to detonate or bomb any of their interests. The terrorists networks are becoming more difficult to handle by the day, tightening the noose around visas will not be the only solution, ok, what will they do to people already in their country who become radicalized? Or any of their citizens who decides to become an accomplice.
Politics › Re: February 13th In The History Of Nigeria by bodejohn(m): 8:36pm On Feb 14, 2012
This write up has pointed a shining light at this dark period of our history. History do not die only individuals who are part of it do.
Key point for me in all that has happened in this nation is the lessons have we learnt. We have to learn from history before we also become part of history.
I heard there is a museum in Israel of pictures, names and happenings of the holocaust, at the exist of this museum is place a board with inscription in jew that the holocaust experience will not happen again. It pains me that the same selfishness that lead to all this events are still prevalent in our societies.

Politics › Re: Nuhu Ribadu Disowned By A.C.N by bodejohn(m): 7:30pm On Feb 09, 2012
Another thread to argue if it was right for Ribadu to accept the task force chairmanship? I am going to say this again, I care less about who is made the chairman of the task force, the terms of reference of the task force renders the chairman and the task team useless. They are not more than tax collectors to me enriching the already corrupt federal government. Most people jumped to town hoping that the name and person of Ribadu will make corruption disappear in the petroleum sector not minding whether he is just there as a figure head or a common tax collector. I careless about PDP or given a damn about ACN, but in my own opinion it was right for ACN to distance themselves from an appointment that made their presidential aspirant a common task collector irrespective or whether they betrayed him or not.
Politics › Re: Nuhu Ribadu's Response to GEJ's call by bodejohn(m): 9:08pm On Feb 08, 2012
The crust of this matter for me is not whether Ribadu agreed to serve or not but the terms of reference of the task force. The govt is only trying to rake in more money from the oil sector. The task force is only going to ensure that oil companies drop all they are supposed to pay to govt covers, so what happens to how govt has been spending and will spend? How many times have we worried ourself by how much the govt loose due to their inefficiencies? If Ribadu performs so well in this new role, he will at best be raking in more money for the govt and they will still ship the money into foreign accounts like they have been doing and he can as well kiss his political ambition goodbye.
Phones › Re: Do You Like The Porsche Designed Blackberry? by bodejohn(m): 4:21pm On Feb 03, 2012
The phone looks unattractive to me, actually I wasn't attracted to the bb phones until glo slashed its bis to 1.4k ever since owned one I have grown to like it although I detest the hype around it.
I wouldn't like to compare it to other phones cause, the cost of running a bb phone for IT savvy people will a lot cheaper than any android or nokia phone, its an unbelievable 3Gb data cap for 1.4k on glo.
Back to the Porsche, money is worth what money buy. If someone could use more than 400k to drink alcoholics and party in a year, another can skip some other things and buy the phone. No big deal, calling people names when they buy items that we do not valve with their money especially when they get it via legitimate means.
I can buy the phone, just that I will wait till the uk used ones are available, lol.
Politics › Re: Michelle Obama's 22 Aides Vs Gej 24 Aides. by bodejohn(m): 6:30pm On Jan 29, 2012
I really cannot understand these arguments and comparisons. What I do know is that Nigeria has an elected president who is suppose to be leading and directing with the best of his ability and with support of the best brains available in the country. With the type of brilliant people in this nation it is quite surprising that we are still in this mess. Since the removal of subsidy I have noticed an increase in petty stealing around my house, cocks, turkeys, bananas going missing! I don't care about the number of aids, I only care about good governance even if it is with 100 aids or 1.
Politics › Re: Damaturu, Yobe On Fire? by bodejohn(m): 9:44am On Jan 22, 2012
Just like the old folklore song, there is fire on the mountain, until the issues and problems in this nation get to the top, there will be no mass action by Nigerians and concern by the government.
For those asking Nigerians to support GEJ by giving him suggestions, I hope you have not forgotten that the first job he has is to provide security for all the citizens irrespective of which tribe they are from and where they choose to live and for this he eats with a Billion and other fat allowances and also has a retinue of advisers and ministers who are also paid Billions annually.
But also, all the advise he needs are already on paper, written in our constitution and by other committees of eminent Nigerians. How about our president ensuring the institutionalisation of true federalism in this country? Let's see if a governor who just wakes up and go to Abuja to collect is own share of the national cake will not wake up and work if the cake is been managed by those who baked it.
In as much as there is no magic wand that will make all our problems disappear, GEJ is got to start taking bold steps to stamp out insecurity, corruption and ensure good governance but as it stands even if he is doing this with all his spirit and mind, little if not nothing is seen by true Nigerians.

Say a prayer for a man who has legs, hands and brain but refuses to use them? Say a prayer for a president who announced to the whole world about a year ago that he knows the people behind the BH carnage but no one except that self acclaimed BH spokesman enjoying himself in sss custody?
I can see that Nigerians have resorted to prayers not because we believe it will work in our case but to further confirm the state of our helplessness.

namfav:
things like this causes conflict, first they said it was the police commissioner and went as far as to say that ringim was behind it, sahara reporters claiming it was a mob of youth, and after that happened they started to arrest everyone in the street including those that were passerbys, now they are arresting the emir, why? the police and the media alike is totally toothless
Reggie2:
When your people murder hundreds of innocent worshippers on a Xmas Day, no conflict, when they allow a most notorious terrorist to run away, no conflict; but when police arrest suspects for interrogation, there will be conflict. People like you ought to be tracked and put in a cage where you rightly belong, you constitute a public threat.
@Namfav, I suppose you mean to say confusion.
Sometimes I think people in authority deliberately cause confusion to make us loose track of events.
I suspect that there are so many people involved and the easiest way for them to get out is to confuse everybody including themselves.
Politics › Re: Subsidy Fraud: Ifeanyi Uba (Capital Oil) Must Repay N5 Billion Within 60 Days by bodejohn(m): 7:05pm On Jan 19, 2012
He that must come to equity must do so with clean hands. Even the FG that is pretending to punish a thief is neck deep in corrupt deals or what shall we say about a man that was indicted in the famous Siemens bribery scandal about 4years ago that is now a minister in the federal cabinet. This to me is at best a smoke screen to pretend that the govt is fighting corruption and keep us the number 5 or 6 most corrupted nation, otherwise TI will easily give us the most corrupt country in the world which in reality is our position.
Politics › Re: Full Text Of Save Nigeria Group Press Conference by bodejohn(m): 7:28pm On Jan 17, 2012
Like we have all come to agree on, we deserve the type of leaders we get. Even if Bakare has political and personal gains to achieve can anyone dispute the fact that GEJ's PDP lead govt. played into his hands. Even for those that supported subsidy removal, are you also in support of the wasteful spending of govt as depicted in the national budget. PTB, did not only pull the Ojota crowd because of his eloquence, it was the failure of the govt that provided him the platform. Gani came, Nigerians said he was better an activist than a president, Pat Utomi came, we said e sabi too much book, yet we still complain about bad leadership. Even when a mad man is talking, if you listen carefully you might find wisdom in it. I join PTB to say to our govt "cut this wasteful spending and stop chasing shadows"
Politics › Re: Pdp Accuses Cpc Of Inciting Nigerians by bodejohn(m): 11:21pm On Jan 13, 2012
I am still amazed that some folks are asking that we give this govt. some time to prove themselves. I would like to remind such people that we have given PDP and GEJ 13years to do just that and the evidence of their failure is the past 5days.
Politics › Re: Pdp Accuses Cpc Of Inciting Nigerians by bodejohn(m): 7:36pm On Jan 13, 2012
Quite unfortunate that these PDP apologists are loosing touch of reality and at an alarming rate for that matter. Your party's federal govt is making unpopular policies without you as a party checking to bring them to order.
Maybe it is CPC that smuggled 1Billion into the budget for Jona and Sambo to eat or other glaring excessive spending of the govt.
The massive Lagos people that voted en mass for your party some months ago are out calling for your govt. to quit and all you can see is the opposition figures, definitely the PDP as a party is more confused and out of touch even more than the direction less federal govt.

12 law abiding Nigerians killed in just two days, this needs more attention from the FG than fuel subsidy removal. Why promise me a better future when I'm not even sure I'll live long enough to see these benefits in the face of all these insecurity.

So much talking from sentiments, if you have anything against Gej, law down facts and stop the ordinary name calling, it wont yield anything.
As much as I don't want to pay more for PMS, I have not seen much sincerity from those opposing subsidy removal other than just being an opposition. Please argue on facts so I can know why I crucified Gej.
It is not funny that you are unaware of the facts against GEJ.
The government he presides over is riddled with corruption as confirmed by himself, NOI & SLS. Instead of fighting the few corrupt individuals, he turns on you and I to make life most unbearable for us while still keeping his corrupt friends in business.
He made a budget in which apart from his salaries, he has more than 2Billion as allowances that directly or indirectly go to him.
Several months after telling us he knows the people who are behind BH, we still daily live our lives in fear of attacks and insecurity. Only few days ago, he dropped the bombshell that BH is part of govt, military and judiciary.
Are these not enough for us to see that his govt is not capable of leading Nigeria? Now tell me why a Nigerian should trust him another 1.3Trillion that exists only in his mind?
Politics › Re: I Didn't Say "The Poor Don't Get It" - Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala by bodejohn(m): 12:08am On Jan 10, 2012
Did she not lie when Sowore of SR called her and she was pretending not to hear? Did she not lie when she told BBC on Monday that there is no strike in Abuja as everybody is already in the office? GEJ and his co travellers are making it increasingly difficult for me and other Nigerians to trust them. As long as any govt. Policy comes from this same woman, I would not trust or believe her. What did she not say Nigerians stand to gain if we paid 16B dollars in one swoop to Paris Club? She told us the money we use in servicing the loans will be channelled to provide education, hospitals, power etc, except there is a Nigeria somewhere else, I have not seen half of those policies implemented.
Now she is telling us again to hope and trust that this policies will work out.
I opened a thread some few days back and I pleaded with the moderators to put it on the front page, govt will not gain anything from subsidy removal. Even @Beaf could not answer my question. For goodness sake, there is no budget for subsidy this year, where will the govt get the savings from? As good as the spirit of subsidy removal is, it is absolutely criminal for NOI, SLS and GEJ to tell us we will make savings from it.

When Yar adua was doing his disappearance act, non of them slept out in the cold in Abuja to protest. As far as Nigerians where concerned, things were fine. When IBB annulled the freest elections, some never camped out in Eagles square. In fact they took up posts in Abacha's junta. Abiola died in jail and I saw no riots and abuse on any Nigerian leader. To appease a certain section, they ordained OBJ and barely tolerated him. Alas, today, they are sleeping with mats in the cold because the rug of corruption has been pulled off the feet of marketers of Petroleum. Even the destroyers of the country, today's heroes, are giving tips on what is wrong with fuel subsidy removal. Bigots, foolish generation, callous citizens without depth are all over the net insulting the President. Yes, that is the new fad in town. He is clueless; he is silly; he is a slowpoke ! Of course, fuel must sale at 65 naira. We have 35 billion barrels of sweet crude in the Niger Delta, the land of the drunken fisherman we all love to insult. All of us are watching. We will all write this history together. However, I pray we all live to read it !
You are so wrong and you know it. You mean to say there were no June 12 protest, there were no SNG protests, there is one thing I like to tell those who think they are comfortable now, remember the children of the less privileged, they will also manage to survive by visiting your houses at night demanding for the subsidy removal package and God better save your souls because Jona is about now thinking of how to deregulate the security sector.

Govt: Nigerians you must pay more for fuel.
Nigerians: Why?
Govt: Subsidy is ending up in the pockets of some few people.
Nigerians: Do you know these cabal?
Govt: Yes, we already released their names
Nigerians: That's good, then arrest and prosecute them.
Govt: That will be difficult, they are too powerful and they will bribe everybody in govt and the judges to escape the law.
Nigerians: Are you saying you can be compromised?
Govt: Em, no but just pay more for fuel, it is sacrifice for the nation.
Nigerians: What will you sacrifice for the nation?
Govt: We will cut our basic salaries by 25% and reduce travel
Nigerians: Is that all you will do?
Govt: We will do more but right now, I have a party to attend in south africa.
Nigerians: Didn't you just say you will cut travels? Will you still eat with 1Billion this year?
Govt: I feel your pains, try and trust govt, we will buy 1600 buses for you, 2 should be enough for each of the 774 local govt.
Nigerians: Will Sambo still buy newspapers worth 45Million this year? Will you still renovate your guest houses with those millions?
Govt: Who told you all that?
Nigerians: It's in the budget that you presented to the national assembly
Govt: I'm not aware that such is in the budget.
Nigerians: Just as you are not aware that the minimum wage has not been implemented?
Govt: Eh! Ringim, get these nigerians from here, buy an injunction from any court stopping them from getting here again, as usual get our people to start singing we will not commit sucide but we will kill ourselves if subsidy is brought back, make sure you no share money in front of cameras this time. When is the strike starting? Monday, ok I should be back by then if not Sambo continue to address them, party rice will waste if I do not get to SA on time, check the rooster, whose turn is it to join me in the jet?

Aren't we tired of promises? A Nigerian kid was once asked what he would like to become when he grows up, he simply started crying, these were his words "you ask me when I grow up? I don't even know if I will grow up" as comical as that is, it is the blanket truth. Proponents of the deregulation are quick to point out the telecoms sector as an example of a deregulated sector of our economy, but they easily forget that the cost of purchasing a sim card was out of the reach of a common man for more than 4years until GLO came and started installmental payments. Can Nigerians endure a 140/ltr of pms for 3 to 4years? It is not going to take less than 2years to build a refinery! The govt has failed to tell Nigerians how long they think it will take for what they call short time suffering to end.
On a more critical note, the govt is not telling Nigerians the whole truth, how was the subsidy deficit in the 2011 budget paid? Was it not through borrowing? So where will the savings come? There is no subsidy in the budget of 2012, therefore there will be no savings on subsidy except the govt is planning to go borrow again like they have been doing. As laudable as fuel subsidy removal is, this govt is ill prepared, confused, corrupt and above all clueless about what they are set out to achieve.

I can still remember how you proved that Dokpesi and by extension IBB was responsible for the Oct 1 bombings only for same Dokpesi to become the media coordinator of your GEJ in the build-up to the elections. Even if this is true shouldn't you be sharing this with the secret service instead of NL where the protesting arm of BH (in your own words) resides.

Every Nigerian is still calculating and reflecting on how they will be affected by the subsidy removal crises. So my good guess is that those leading men of God and men of flesh are also going through the same circle. In a few weeks with dwindling returns in both tithes and offerings you will see their reactions on the pages of newspapers announcing palliative measures in the form special prayers, anointing oil, mantle etc for the equally gullible Nigerians. I just hope that the current economic conditions will make Nigerians shun those 7days continuous night vigils and special prayers 8am on a working day.

Guys, am I the only one seeing this? No money will come to the FG after
subsidy is removed, there is no
provision for it in the budget. If I plan to spend 50naira but I get the job done with 25, then I have saved 25. But since I did not plan to spend anything, how will I get savings? The govt has made her spending plan for 2012 and there is no plan to spend on fuel subsidy, so there is no savings coming from anywhere except they plan to borrow for the projects. I ran after @ beef over the threads yesterday for him to shed more light to this position of mine but he did not answer me, how I wish I can ask SLS this question, Nigerians wake up, no monies will be saved by government after subsidy removal, there will be no palliatives, they already spent every thing in the 74% recurrent expenditure budget.

Thank you very much, mallam SLS.
Can you or any govt. mouth piece here tell us how govt. Will react now that subsidy is no more? Will GEJ still use that 1Billion to eat this year? Will Sambo still buy newspapers with 45Million? Will Aso Rock flowers still be watered with 200Million? Will David Mark still collect 600Million as salaries and grants? Will each of our lawmakers still earn more than their counterparts in other more properous nations? Will GEJ still continue to re furnish his office and guest house yearly with huge sums of money? Will the budgeted 11Billion still be spent on travels? Will the national minimum wage still remain 18,000? Will Nigerians still see unprecedented corruption in govt? If there is any of the above questions that have a yes, then nigerians have a right to demand for fuel subsidy. Fuel subsidy and corruption, either of the two will crash the economy just that the two combined will bring doomsday quicker.
