Did you know that the Bible, that is widely considered to be one of the most sacred books in the world, contains verses so explicit and controversial you’ve probably never heard them in church? While some Bible scholars explain the extremely bizarre verses by being mere metaphors or specific historical context, others are not so sure about ambiguity of the passages of scripture and interpret them rather literally. There are just some of the verses that desperately need to be justified as soon as possible: 1) 2 Kings 2:23-24; New International Version (NIV) From there Elisha [the prophet] went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some boys came out of the town and jeered at him. “Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!” He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of theLord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the boys. Does that mean God hates children mocking his prophets and even sends bears to attack them for being rude? 2) 1 Samuel 15:3 (NIV) “Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.” Is this gruesome verse endorsing genocide? 3) Psalm 137:9 (NIV) “Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.” Is the Bible encouraging brutal murder of children? 4) Deuteronomy 13:6-9 (NIV) “If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods” (gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known, gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), do not yield to them or listen to them. Show them no pity. Do not spare them or shield them. You must certainly put them to death. Your hand must be the first in putting them to death, and then the hands of all the people.” Is the Bible calling to kill loved ones instead of being tolerant and merciful? 5) Leviticus 11:10 (NIV) “But all creatures in the seas or streams that do not have fins and scales — whether among all the swarming things or among all the other living creatures in the water — you are to regard as unclean.” Eating shrimps, lobsters or crayfish is sinful? 6) 1 Timothy 2:12 (NIV) “I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.” Is the Bible openly promoting sexism and gender inequality? 7) Matthew 19:24 (NIV) “Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” Does that mean as long as you are poor you can enter heaven easily and if you are prosperous prepare yourself for hellfire? Jeremiah 9:19 (NIV)“I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and daughters, and they will eat one another’s flesh because their enemies will press the siege so hard against them to destroy them.” Cannibalism, seriously? 9) 1 Peter 2:18 (NIV) “Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.” The Bible promotes slavery? 10) Leviticus 19:27 (NIV) “Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.” Why? Just why? https://www.naij.com/761502-top-10-gruesome-bible-verses-youll-never-hear-church.html lalasticlala |
-Mobile phone has become part of our everyday life – People may wonder how this device could make someone contract certain bacterial diseases The result of a scientific research has thrown more light on some things, which were thought to be impossible before. Every mobile phone user go about with his or her phone daily, without knowing how it could affect his or her health adversely. In a new research by some scientists in London, United Kingdom, it was revealed that microscopic faecal matter is present on mobile phone, especially, if the holder of the device maintains a poor personal hygiene. A female mobile phone user Researchers from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Queen Mary, University of London analysed 780 swab samples (390 from mobile phones and 390 from hands that held the mobile phones) from 12 different cities in the UK. The scientists, after their findings, discovered that 16% of both hands and phones, were contanminated with Escherichia coli (or E coli ). E coli is a potentially illness-causing bacteria (singular: bacterium), which is as a result of faeces from the toilet or latrine. This happened possibly due to people, who do not use soap and water to wash their hands after using the toilet. The E coli will not infect the holders of the phones alone, but to everybody or anything that comes in contact with their hands. It should be known that bacteria survive outside the human body or on an inanimate object for hours, compared to viruses. Therefore, E coli can survive on a person’s hands and on other hard surfaces for hours, especially in warm conditions (like on a smartphone screen), which is easily transferred to door handles, computer keyboards, food and other people and then back to you. People who have the habit of eating their food, without first washing their hands, should know that they are susceptible to running stomach and food contanmination, through faecal material. A person who uses the toilet, should wash his two hands, before he handles his or her mobile phone. Dr Ron Cutler of Queen Mary, University of London states: “People may claim they wash their hands regularly, but science shows otherwise.” While trying to explain, who was more guilty of the practice of neglecting proper after toilet hand washing hygiene between males and females, Dr Val Curtis of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine said: “In previous studies, we found that men’s hands were more contanminated than women’s and also that men wash hands less often, than women in public restrooms.” https://www.naij.com/763793-shocking-mobile-phone-can-give-running-stomach-land-hospital.html |
Does "Hell" really exist? Is there a "Hell" in the Bible? Hell no! There is no "Hell" in the Bible! What is "hell" like, really? Is it located here on earth, or in some other dimension? Is it real, or a myth? Can the Bible lead us to the truth? Where is "hell" first mentioned in the Bible, and why is it so hard to find in the more accurate modern translations? Why was the punishment of "hell" never mentioned to the original sinners―Adam, Eve and Cain―nor to unbelievers like the Pharaoh who defied God repeatedly? Are there Bible verses that clearly describe "hell," explaining its origins and purpose? Hell no! If you study "hell" in the Bible, you're in for a long, fruitless search for facts, definitions and explanations. Why? Because the Hebrew prophets never mentioned a place where human beings writhe in eternal torment, gnashing their teeth forever. Nor did the prophets ever mention even the possibility of suffering after death. Isn't that extremely odd, if there really is a hell and God wanted us to know how to avoid it? The Hebrew Bible (our Old Testament) mentions a place called Sheol, but as I will demonstrate below —quoting book, chapter and verse—the Hebrew word Sheol clearly means "the grave" or "the abode of all the dead, good and bad. " The same is true in the New Testament, where the Greek word Hades also clearly means "the grave" or "the abode of all the dead." Nor does Gehenna mean "hell," as I explain below. So "hell" is not a biblical teaching at all, but a harrowing mistranslation used by charlatans to brainwash believers into forking over their hard-earned money while obeying commandments they never bothered to observe themselves. (It seems hell hath no fury like a hypocritical moralist out to control other people's behavior.) Unfortunately, the innocents who suffer most from this hellish dogma are highly impressionable children who trust their parents, pastors, youth directors and Sunday School teachers not to mislead them ... |

https://thenationonlineng.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/ibinabo-fiberesima-464x320.jpg The Court of Appeal Lagos Division, Friday dismissed an appeal filed by ex beauty queen, Ibinabo Fiberesima challenging a Lagos High Court judgement which sentenced her to serve five years in prison for the death of one Dr. Giwa Suraj. The embattled president of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) was sentenced by Justice Deborah Oluwayemi for reckless driving which caused the death of Suraj in an auto accident along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos. He was a staff of a Lagos State hospital. Dissatisfied, Fiberesima in her amended appellant brief filed by her lawyer, Nnaemeka Amaechina, urged the court to set aside the sentence and restore the decision of the Magistrate Court which sentenced her to a N100, 000 fine. But, delivering judgment Friday, the appellate court dismissed the appeal and affirmed the High Court’s judgment. In a unanimous decision delivered by Justice Jamilu Yammama Tukur the court held that the trial Magistrate Court lacked the discretion to grant Ibinabo an option of fine after her conviction. It held further that the appeal lacked merit and thereby dismissed it accordingly. Other members of the panel are Justice U.I. Ndukwe-Anyanwu (Mrs.) (presiding) and Justice Tijani Abubakar respectively. Ibinabo, who was visibly apprehensive throughout the proceeding, burst into tears immediately the judgment was delivered. The court had, at its last sitting, ordered her to appear before it on judgement day. Speaking on the judgement, her lawyer, Nnaemeka Amaechina, said it would be challenged at the Supreme Court adding that a Notice of Appeal had been filed already. The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command had in 2005 charged Fiberesima to an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court on a two-count charge of dangerous and reckless driving along the Lekki- Epe Expressway, Lagos which resulted in the death of Suraj. She was awarded a N100, 000 fine by the Court, but this decision was tested at the High Court by the Lagos State Government. At the High Court, Justice Oluwayemi set aside the option of N100, 000 fine imposed and sentenced Fiberesima to five years imprisonment for dangerous and reckless driving. She held that the trial Magistrate exercised judicial recklessness when he gave the convict an option of N100, 000 fine and this did not serve the purpose of justice. She subsequently ordered that the N100, 000 should be returned to Fiberesima. The court added that Section 28 of the Road Traffic Law clearly provides that where a reckless and dangerous driving has caused the death of a person, the accused person shall be guilty of an offence and is liable on conviction to imprisonment of seven years. Dissatisfied, Fiberesima in her amended appellant brief filed by her lawyer, Nnaemeka Amaechina before the Court of Appeal urged the court to set aside the five year sentence and restore the decision of the Magistrate Court. Amaechina had argued that the Magistrate’s Court exercised its discretion properly and there was no ground to review it by the high court. He submitted that by virtue of the Notice of Increased in Jurisdiction of Magistrates, No. 7 of 2006, the trial Magistrate could only impose a maximum of 7 years imprisonment or N100, 000.00 fine. He added that N100, 000.00 fine is the maximum limit the trial Magistrate can impose as fine and that was what it imposed on the appellant. In her response, counsel to Lagos State, Rotimi Odutola (Mrs.) argued that the law creating the offence of dangerous driving causing death has provided for a term of imprisonment as punishment for anyone convicted under section 28 hence the trial Magistrate ought not to exercise such arbitrary discretion to impose N100.000.00 as fine. Odutola further submitted that the children of the deceased have been permanently deprived of the ‘’measureless contributions’’ of their father to their lives as a result of his death caused by the appellant. http://thenationonlineng.net/ibinabo-weeps-as-court-confirms-five-years-jail-term/ |

– About 22 top officers from the budget office of the federation have been redeployed to other departments – All affected officers are expected to report in their new locations on or before the close of work today Back in February, President Muhammadu Buhari vowed that all those involved in the padding of the 2016 budget will face the most severe punishment. President Muhammadu Buhari has removed about 184 top budget officials from budget duties and redeployed them to establishments that have little or nothing to do with budget over their roles in padding the 2016 budget. The president’s move is in pursuance to his earlier stance to deal decisively with all those involved in the padding of the 2016 national budget which caused much embarrassment to the federal government. Speaking about the shakeup, a top official in the budget office confirmed to Vanguard that 22 top officers from the budget office of the federation were affected in the mass deployment. The rest were moved away from budget-related duties in other ministries, departments and agencies, (MDAs). Following the mass redeployment, 14 other directors said to have been tested have been redeployed to the same office with immediate effect to replace the removed officers. The directive to redeploy the tainted officers to other duties reportedly came from the office of the head of service of the federation. All the affected officers, according to the directive, are to report in their new locations on or before the close of work today, March 10 Recall that back in February, President Muhammadu Buhari complained the unauthorised alterations of the 2016 budget had completely changed the document from the one he presented to the National Assembly, He vowed that all those involved in the padding of the budget will face the most severe punishment. He also ordered for investigation into allegations of fraudulent alterations in the document with strict orders that all cases of discrepancies, errors and ambiguities be resolved promptly. https://www.naij.com/760106-breaking-buhari-kicks-184-top-officials-budget-padding.html |

– Kenyan prophet who claims to have spoken with God about the coming of the Messiah is in Nigeria – Says Nigeria is a God-fearing nation – Adds that the hearts of Nigerians need to be prepared for the coming of the Messiah Prophet David Owunor, the Kenyan pastor who is in Nigeria for a crusade. Photo: The Nation David Owunor, a Kenyan prophet who just arrived Nigeria for a crusade, has stated that he is on a mission to the country to put an end to the ‘gospel of money’. The Nation reports that the prophet who addressed newsmen at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja Lagos on Thursday, March 10, is to be guest minister at an interdenominational Christian platform, ‘Repent Now Nigeria’ holding at the MUSON Centre, Lagos. He said: “Nigeria is a God fearing nation, but now if they are really God-fearing, then this is the moment to return to the true gospel of cross and the blood- the holy salvation and the gospel that is not connected to money- that we may prepare the hearts of the people and the nation for the coming of the Messiah and then everything else will follow. “The Bible says seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and everything else will fall in place. So I really bring the message of holiness of repentance and to prepare for the coming of the King. “So the kingdom of the church you see in Nigeria now, the building of universities, the money and private aircraft acquired with big money and all of that is going to come down. That is why I have come. I come with tremendous powers and there is no question about that.” Prophet Owunor, a former doctorate research at various universities in the US before becoming a clergy, claimed that God has spoken with him about the coming of the Messiah and that he has also spoken with John the Baptist. According to him: “This is the moment of the latter rain, the latter visitation, and so you have to at this time, come on board and Nigeria also has to come on board and this revival has no bounds. However, there is no time. “Whatever that has been instructed out is going to be given out; big harvest is taking place, visitation is taking place. “So I really come to rise up against the gospel of money, that is in this city. The gospel of buy your morning water, whichever water, gather people from Southern Africa, carry money to greet the men of God. “So, all that is going to come down now. We will now return to Christ Jesus the Lord and to the free salvation of the Cross and blood and then of course, there’s a healing service coming up and the Lord will begin an open heaven here by the visiting of this land to establish the message. The Messiah is coming, let us prepare together.” https://www.naij.com/759975-read-prophet-spoken-john-baptist-coming-nigerians-photo.html |
– Young girl narrates ordeal in court – Says father took her to the hotel and did it twice at home – Adds that he asked her not to tell her mother John Ofuegbu, the randy 58-year-old man who reportedly defiled his 10-year-old daughter. Photo: Daily Post John Ofuegbu has been jailed for two years after being found guilty of sexual assault on his 10-year-old daughter. Daily Post reports that the 58-year-old was jailed by a high court in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital after being found guilty of sexually abusing and exploiting the youngster, Ebubechukwu Ofuegbu. The young girl told the court that the man carried out the said act on her on three different occasions; twice in his room at home and once at a hotel in Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt. “My father asked if I like him. He said I should sit down on the bed. I asked him, Daddy what are you doing. My daddy removed his clothes and also asked me to remove my clothes. I was crying and now said I will report to my mother but he said I should not tell her. “Another time, my mother traveled, my daddy took me to a hotel at Trans Amadi where he paid 4 thousand naira for a room. At the hotel, we watched a film which they say is a corrupt film. “My mother took us to the hospital and found out that I have been having sex. She asked me who did it, and I told her that it was my father,” the 10-year-old narrated sadly. Justice Adolphus Enebeli, who handled the case, noted that he was convinced that the accused person committed the abominable crime, explaining further that the man violated sections of the Rivers state Child Rights Law of 2009. “Evidences were presented showing that the vagina of the victim had been ruptured as a result of frequent and heavy penetration,” he added. While expressing his delight at the girl’s honesty, Justice Enebeli said he also discovered that Ofuegbu and his wife were estranged, adding that there was bitterness in the matrimony. He informed further that “Ofuegbu took undue advantage of the natural love and bond of his daughter. He lured his child, Ebubechukwu by exploiting and manipulating his own daughter. He abandoned the duty of a father to protect his won daughter” and also slammed the man for taking undue advantage of the bond between him and his daughter. The accused has reportedly been in prison for about five years since the beginning of the trial in 2011, while the offence is said to be a punishable crime of 14 years in prison without option of fine, but was sentenced to two years only. In his reaction to the judgment, Ofuegbu said: “I don’t have anything to say but God in heaven will judge me. I have never abused Ebubechukwu in anyway. Where are other women? I know all these things happened because of the problem I have with my wife. But for who ever is behind this, God will judge.” State prosecuting counsel, Cordelia Eke expressed her joy at the fact that judgment served should be a deterrent to other randy fathers. “We derive some solace in the fact that justice has been served. I know that it cannot compensate for the trauma that she will be going through but I know that this goes to show that the state could do something about what happened to the little girl. “We also hope that those that are victims of sexual offences such as this will be encouraged to speak up and follow up their cases to a logical conclusion,” she said. This report is coming on the heels of recent onslaught or parent/child(ren) molestation which has attracted huge condemnation from rights activist and parents. https://www.naij.com/759464-man-58-10-year-old-daughter-hotel-totally-shocking-photo.html lalasticlala mynd44 |

Before an Igbo man can emerge as president of Nigeria, Ndigbo must learn to put their acts together. This is according to Victor Oye, the national chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Vanguard reports. Oye who stated this while addressing party faithful in Aba called on Ndigbo to embrace the party. He noted that APGA remains the only hope for the political emancipation of Ndigbo in Nigeria. According to him, APGA offers the best political option for Ndigbo to actualize her dream of producing a Nigerian President than other political parties. Before an Igbo president can emerge in Nigeria, Ndigbo must learn to put their acts together, according to Victor Oye, APGA national chairman He said: “Ndigbo should know that charity begins at home. If all Igbo people are APGA, how will anybody steal our votes? We don’t vote in one direction, that why there is confusion. If all of us vote APGA, it will be difficult for anybody to rig elections in the Southeast. APGA is the party for Ndigbo. Unless we start from home and win the five Southeast states for APGA, we won’t make any progress. Every Igbo man should know that Ndigbo are nowhere in Nigeria’s political equation. “Ndigbo should have produced the Senate president, but we failed to put our acts together and the position went to the minority. Ndigbo should shine their eyes. Unless Ndigbo wins the five South East state for APGA, it would be difficult for an Igbo to emerge Nigerian President. 2019 is another election year. We must get things right. “We came to office in June 2015 and since then; APGA has spread to every nook and cranny of the country. In Bayelsa state, we have two State House of Assembly seats. In Taraba, we have one Assembly seat and one House of Representatives seat. “Anambra, we have 28 out of 30 seats. In Abia state, it should have been 24 out of 24, but they stole it and left 11 for APGA. In Niger state, we have seven elected councilors. In 2019, all the states in the Southeast will be controlled by APGA.” Naij.com recalls that a former head of state Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida while reacting on the agitation for Biafra and the turbulence within the southeastern region, said there was no need for the Biafra agitation. Former president Goodluck Jonathan has taken to Facebook to hit out at his online critics. In a brief statement posted on his official Facebook page, Jonathan slammed an online publication for spreading what he described as falsehoods about him. Ex-president Jonathan was clearly furious when he made his statement “My attention has just been drawn to a spurious online publication alleging that I recently made comments on the state of the nation’s economy,” Jonathan said. “This falsehood must have sprung from the writer’s imagination, as I was neither at any forum requiring my interventions on the state of the economy, nor met with any group of newsmen, as claimed in the write-up.” “I will simply urge Nigerians to disregard such fabrication, and rather concentrate on working for the good of our nation.” Jonathan’s comments were well received by his supporters on Facebook with some of his followers describing him as Nigeria’s finest president. The former president did not mention the online publication in question however the cause of his outrage is believed to be Weekly Post Nigeria. The publication posted an article earlier on Monday in which it claimed Jonathan said he could reverse Nigeria’s economic fortunes in four months. “The APC promised Nigerians a lot and are obviously fading, but I can tell you this, me and my friend Ifeanyi Ubah, we can reverse this mess in less than four months,” Weekly Post Nigeria quotes Jonathan as saying. “All I know is, Nigerians should not lose hope. That’s all I can say. If your children studying abroad are forced to come back home, don’t lose hope. If the dollar is N600, don’t lose hope. Me and Ifeanyi Ubah are working on something big,” Jonathan was quoted as saying. Weekly Post Nigeria has so far failed to respond to Jonathan’s statement. https://www.naij.com/755995-goodluck-jonathan-slams-online-publication-spreading-falsehoods.html

– President Buhari in a fresh interview with foreign media speaks about Nigeria’s problems – He restated that naira devaluation is against national interests – The president claimed that he hasn’t failed against Boko Haram – Buhari addresses Biafra issue President Muhammadu Buhari during his last visit to Qatar has given the interview to Al Jazeera. The Nigerian president has been speaking about the challenges the country is facing now, comprising the naira devaluation, the Boko Haram, anti-corruption crusade, the Biafra issue. Buhari is seeking support for his fight against corruption and to promote much-needed investment in his country’s ailing economy. Qatar is the actual president of Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and Nigeria is Africa’s largest oil producer. The low oil prices have a destroying influence on the Nigerian economy, which has long depended on the export of oil. President Buhari said: “ We were unable to diversify our economy, hence we are much more disadvantaged by the lower oil prices.” He tells the journalist that he values the institution of OPEC and that “ Nigeria will make the necessary sacrifice to remain in OPEC.” On naira devaluation, the Nigerian leader of the nation said he would not reconsider his insistence on freezing the currency. President Buhari said as Nigeria “virtually imports everything, from rice to toothpicks”, it cannot afford to devalue its currency. “If it is against our national interest, why can’t we go against the IMF advice? ” Buhari asks. Two major Buhari’s promises during the election campaign last year were to eradicate corruption and end the Boko Haram insurgency. Speaking on the Boko Haram, the president restated that none of local government areas has been occupied by the insurgents, adding that he hasn’t failed against the insurgents However, the Boko Haram remains active in many areas of Nigeria, seemingly able to strike at will. Being asked how Buhari is planning to deal with Biafra, the president said: “ At least two millions Nigerians were killed in the Biafra war. And for somebody to wake up, may be they weren’t born. Looking for Biafra after two millions people were killed, they are joking with the security and Nigeria won’t tolerate Biafra.” The declaration of the Independent Republic of Biafra in 1967 caused a civil war that resulted in the death of millions and the re-annexation of the republic to Nigeria in 1970. The administration of President Buhari has always maintainedthat Nigeria’s unity is a priority for the country and that while peaceful pro-Biafran protests are welcome, demanding the separation of the Biafran territories is against the constitution. https://www.naij.com/753844-nigeria-wont-tolerate-biafra-buhari-speaks-current-state-country.html |
