LOL! This is too funny. Go back and start from scratch. You have confused just about everyone here and probably yourself.
Crime › Re: Pregnant Briton 'faces Execution'(a Nigerian) by Bossman(m): 7:33pm On May 06, 2009
I agree. She must have got the gist that if she gets pregnant she will avoid firing aquad. So, obviously someone got to help himself out and at the same time help her.  I actually read that she declared that she was 2 months pregnant when she was caught. However, she lost that pregnancy. So, she did what she had to do to get pregnant again. It's obvious that she also had some family issues and was not brought up properly. If at that young age, she decided to take the chance, unbelievable.

In my opinion, there is absolutely no reason to pity her. She knew exactly what she was getting into.

Yep! I have the 8310, and it's my favorite since I tend to use it more than my other smartphones (Treo 750, Moto Q9h, and samsung blackjack). All apps install with ease and they work. The thing just works!
Phones › Re: How Do I Synchronize My Moto Q Windows To My Pc by Bossman(m): 8:24pm On May 04, 2009
Install active sync 4.5. it came with the phone. If not, you can download it. it should install the apppropriate drivers ita it will start the sync process once it detects your phone is connected. It sync outlook/outlook express to sync your contacts, calendar, etc. so you need to have that too.
Career › Re: How Much Does PMP Certification Cost? by Bossman(m): 8:14pm On Apr 30, 2009
If you are based in Naija, do whichever of the 2 are widely recognized. I, like most folks in the US, have never heard of PRINCE2. It's obviously a UK certification. OTOH, PMP is it here. It's well recognized and you get rewarded accordingly for having one. I personally do not have a PMP, since I am on the technical side, however, I have worked with and have a few friends who have it. Actually, one of them just got a 2 year contract in naija this past January. PMP is common amongst IT managers here in the US vs managers in other fields.
Family › Re: If Polygamy Was Legal, Would You Participate? by Bossman(m): 3:34pm On Apr 29, 2009
Definitely not!

BTW, who said polygamy is illegal in Nigeria. It may have been fazing out somewhat, but it is still being practiced.
Travel › Re: Applying For Nigerian Passport Reissue In Us by Bossman(op): 1:47am On Apr 28, 2009
No! If you are going to Naija, you either need to have a Naija visa on your foreign passport (if you have one) or you need to have a valid Naija passport. The airlines here check on departure. Assuming you somehow get out of the country without valid passport or visa for Naija, I am not sure you can get into Naija without a valid Naija passport or visa on your foreign passport.

Sorry platinumnk, I am just now getting back to this topic. I never did get a notification about a response.

I believe you may be able to get a Naija passport as lonmg as both parents are Naija. I am not 100% certain though. I know, the visa thing can get expensive. Actually, it is more expensive than getting a passport.
Travel › Re: Applying For Nigerian Passport Reissue In Us by Bossman(op): 9:52pm On Apr 22, 2009
Yes. I was told NY is the only one that does the reissue of these new passports at the moment.

I am sure they are catching a lot of heat for this crap! It's my understanding that they (the embassy) have visited some major cities to hold passport services sessions (mostly reissues). I believe they visited Chicago late last year.

Travel › Re: Applying For Nigerian Passport Reissue In Us by Bossman(op): 9:18pm On Apr 22, 2009
The form in your post is the renewal form. For a reissue(your passport is more than 10 years old) it's a different form. And, they are now going with a new digital passport they said, which requires a fingerprint. So, that's the reason for requiring physical presence for an interview/fingerprint.  The information on the Nigerian websites is so out of date it's not funny. Only take what's on the website with a grain of salt. I actually spoke to folks at the NY and Atlanta embassy.  ONLY NY does a reissue at the moment. And you are required to come in for an interview and fingerprint. The fee is about $140 she said. She was not even sure, and she works for the embassy.

[quote author=*Hauwa* link=topic=261995.msg3767610#msg3767610 date=1240430066]Bossman, i thot to get a new passport, one has to fill out a form, attach the old passport to the form with 40 dollars as i read on their website?

Travel › Re: Applying For Nigerian Passport Reissue In Us by Bossman(op): 4:06pm On Apr 22, 2009
There is no consular office in Chicago or Detroit. Only in NY, Atlanta, and DC. Passport reissues are only being done in NY. Thay said the machine in Atlanta is not working. Can't remember the reason why it can't be done in DC. Regardless, the fact that one has to go through this is a pain.
Travel › Re: Applying For Nigerian Passport Reissue In Us by Bossman(op): 4:26pm On Apr 17, 2009
Thought I should post an update to my post. Brother did finally talk to someone at the NY consulate. Unfortunately, the new passport format, digital or whatever it is, requires physical presence. So, they want him to travel to NY for an interview. Complete insanity!

Here is the new procedure for those that need a reissue. No instructions are on their website. This is what the lady told my brother.

- Fill out the online form
- In the end when you click submit, it will take you to a payment page (No information how much it costs upfront). I believe he said she mentioned $135
- After paying you will get a receipt. Print the receipt. And hopefully an option to print the completed form.
- You will notified of an interview date by mail.
- You will head to NY for your interview.

They have to make this procedure simpler for God's sake! How many folks will have the time and money to travel to NY for this crap!

Yep. I was at LSU 88- 92. Then went to UNO for Masters 92 - 94. Got my first job here in Illinois when I finished at UNO.

Yes, I still have quite a few friends there. Most of them went to SU.

Not to digress from the thread or take up space here. If you want you can PM me (techconsult@dls.net) and we can chat.
Computers › Re: A Wireless Router Question. Help by Bossman(m): 9:37pm On Apr 16, 2009
Exactly! As platinumnk said. Your network should have a name. Sometimes called and SSID. You just have him select the correct one. As long as it's being broadcast and there si no security.

platinumnk, where in Louisiana are you?I went to school (LSU and UNO) down there a long time ago. Still have family in Baton Rouge. But, have not being down there in quite a while.
Travel › Applying For Nigerian Passport Reissue In Us by Bossman(op): 8:18pm On Apr 15, 2009
Has anyone done this recently? I did a reissue through the Atlanta Consulate about 2 years ago, and it was not an easy task. My brother's passport is over 10 years old, so he filled out the form on Atlanta's website and was about to send it to them, so he called them to ask a question, and was told they no longer handle passport Reissues. Even though their freaking website says otherwise.

No luck speaking to a live person in the NY office either. On the website there is nothing that tells you how much it is for the reissue. There is an online e-passport to be filled. However, in the end it says to bring the completed form into the nearest passport office (see below). It would make absolutely no sense to have to appear in person for this crap.

So, does anyone have a clue what the new procedure is?

Hi, not looking to move with the family at this time. I will PM you with more info.
Career › Re: Job Opportunities For Educated And Skilled African American Women In Nigeria? by Bossman(m): 8:57pm On Apr 14, 2009
You may want to check out the job boards and see what's out there for your line of work. You can also take a few resumes with you when you visit in June. Also, as for relocating to Lagos, do you have any contacts there that will help you ease the process, or you plan on getting a job first before relocating? I will suggest the latter.

I am in a somewhat similar situation. I have family here in the US, but looking for a 1 - 2 year IT (Application Architect)contract position in Lagos. Coincidentally, I will be in Lagos in June too.

I don't know how they operate there, but I believe as long as your email is correct they will contact you. Usually, at least on this end,  if they can't get you by phone, they will email you. If they like your resume enough to want to reach, they will find a way.

Also, there is nothing wrong with contacting them to let them know.

Most of those islands are known for tourism. Due to their weather, beaches, landscape, etc. I do not believe their visas are easy to get either. Getting a job will not necessarily be easy. I have been to quite a few islands. However it's just for vacation and my stay there is usually for a few days and may be a week max.

This topic has been discussed here a number of times. Most of what you need is online for free. Just google for it. For example, there are a number of dowloadable java books online.  You can also download the JDK from Sun's site and start with small simple programs. If you get stuck, post back here and folks will try to help. I would also suggest you download a simple text editor and you can set it up and use it to compile run your programs.

Wow! This is a tough one, especially with a kid involved. However, you have to do whatever makes you happy. Your father/family are the ones to really blame for this. You got married at a very young age to a man that's much older than you. A lot of times, these types of marriages do not work out. Heck! you really have no feelings for him, if you feel like being raped while making love, It's time to move on. Just make sure when you run he cannot find you. Anything can happen. There is the story of a a guy in St. Louis that killed his much much younger wife. Some of this Naija men cannot take it and will do anything.

Best of luck to you.
Programming › Re: Helepimi Solve This Problem by Bossman(m): 3:55pm On Mar 31, 2009
You have got some good leads and possibly the solution. However, it's critical for your own development and success as a programmer, to attempt to solve this on your own. Then, if you get stuck, you can post here and folks will put you on the right track. In the "real world" you will need to be able to think logically and solve problems. Nobody will be there to provide the solutions to you during an interview either.

I am somewhat surprised the folks just jumped in and provided answers without asking you what you have done first. Anyway, this is just my opinion.

With kids involved, I know it's not easy. However, you can not continue to live like this. I believe he has passed the boundary when he laid his hands on you. he is no longer a man. He obviously does not respect you, especially considering all you have done for him.

Personally I am always suspicious of this "Born again" thing. A lot of people just do it for cover up. And all that vision they they are telling you about is just plain crap! Okay, you are a devoted Christian. However, you should not let that prevent you from using common sense and making prudent decisions.

Best of luck to you.

That's what I thought. The compiler is not finding that class, which makes me believe your CLASSPATH is still pointing to the old JDK. Usually, it should have updated automatically.

You can either go to control panel and verify that your classpath is correct or type 'set classpath' at the command prompt and see what it says.

azpunpin:
Bossman, it still brings out an error, I set my path to my new JDK Version. I think that is not a problem.

Sorry to hear about your issue. However, I find it difficult to believe that as a legal resident there, you cannot find a job that will get you 1000 euro. In 10 months of searching, you should be able to find even if it's a minimum wage job. Considering how urgent you said it is, you should be ready to do any kind of job. Believe me, the people that will be able to help you the most are the ones that live right there in Spain with you. If you cannot touch base with them and ask for help. Something is really wrong. Don't you have a credit card that you can use? I'm I missing something?

EDIT: I just read that someone said they have met you in person. Anyway, I'd still say that if you really want to raise money, you will be better off doing it via the folks that live right there in Spain with you.
Programming › Re: Learn Java Programming Here Easily by Bossman(m): 7:58pm On Mar 10, 2009
Did you have a previous version of the JDK, if so may be you are still pointing to that one. To verify that you are actually getting to the Scanner class, try this on the import and see if you get an error.

import java.util.Scanner;
