jayjaycool: now that the site is online please may we engage in something more interesting.... Let me see how many people i can help... mind me i am a candidature like you are.
Question: Tell us about yourself?
Answer: #they want you to summarize your cv in the best descriptive form. dont forget, keep it simple and short and also engaging. just run through your cv from start to end. but mostly dont forget ur name, age, state, religion(optional), schools attended and qualifications, trainings, hobbies and career objective.
Question: Why do you want to work for nnpc
Answer: #they want to hear you say things your experience and qualifications can help them achieve. #they want you to talk of how they can help you achieve your goals simultaneously with theirs #they want to wear your core values and why they should consider you than your counterpart. *Never tell them how you haven't fed for 3days ago because you had no paying job. *Never let them know your interest have anything to do with money. rather use irony that explains themselves. poison their mind to assume you have something to offer to them. they are hungry to know you can also help them as they help you.
Question: with respect to your field, how do you think it will help nnpc grow
Answer: #they want to hear how you achieved something with your experience. lets say you are an Engineer be able to talk of how you implement some stuff and got a positive result. *they may not twist this question most time. they just ask you of your achievements how you were able to solve a problem using your skill. #never say something you know nothing about they will catch you when they ask you questions on it. if you must lie(which i don't encourage) say something not too popular. as an electrical engineer if you know nothing about PLC, circuit control, contactors, transformers and co better steer away from them. they will ask piss into your boxers. so what am i saying? i am saying go and learn the basic as well you don't need to fail when it comes to your core field.
Question: How much do you want us to pay you?
Answer: No fall yourself hand ooo. before you mention anything be sure you have something to offer. i would advice you say they offer you the amount commensurate to the responsibility to be offered. you may now say something realistic if they demand you mention something. sometimes what you mention dont really matter they just want to do you a greed test.
Question: which subsidiary would you like to work with and why?
Answer: now this very question is for the house. i personally would want to hear from you guys. if you are in nnpc already you should know better, you can assist us by dropping 2-3 subsidiaries you need to work with and why. i hope someone will say something about this. am done typing.
you can as well drop your interview related questions why i tell you what they expecting to hear from you. 'for now someone should answer my own question. Thanks |

SomBaby: Good day folks...congrats to me and all dat ve gotten d sms and congrats in advance to those still in the pipeline..
This is not yet d end but d beginning of the end...got dis from naija hotjobs and tot I shld share and not be selfish...
firstly, NNPC recruitment in based on quota system. Almost equal number of applicants will be taken from all the states and FCT. This implies that you are competing against people from your state. And this will in turn go down to LGA by LGA.So if you have a family member or a cousin in the race it means u are virtually fighting for one slot. Under this system situations arises where a Candidate from State A with 50% score in the interview will be employed while a candidate from State B with 80% score might not be employed. So those of you from educationally developed states should brace up for the challenge.I am sure you know those states What to equip yourself with: When NNPC was established and under what decree NNPC's Core Businesses NNPC Subsidiaries and their operational functions The Refineries and their various Refining capacities Which of the NNPC subsidiaries u'll like to work with and why? Why do you want to work with the NNPC. Why do you want to work in the Oil industry Why do you want to leave your former place of work(if you are already working) Where do you hope to be in 10years time? Understand your discipline and how you can apply it in the oil industry Know the name of the current and immediate past GMD Expect that you’ll be asked atleast one basic question about your discipline Know where the head quarters of each of the Subsidiaries are located say Benin, Warri, Lagos etc. Research the operations of the Subsidiaries so you’ll know which one you can fit in.(I am currently working with the subsidiary I mentioned during my interview so take your time to research, though it does not totally follow) Look smart and composed. It’s usually a friendly interview and note that your line of discussion will mostly go in line with your responses so be sure of what to say. But please don’t be too confident else you’ll sound arrogant. I’m speaking from experience. The above where questions asked me and some of my colleagues who I am working with now. So expect most of the questions to come from them. Know that NNPC will not take everybody. Best of God. I hope to meet you as colleagues soon.
So. Pls read and share and most importantly, prepare well... Cngrats to us once more... |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Biggest CV And Resume Blunders Made By Job Seekers And How To Avoid Them by bosunjohns(m): 5:51pm On Feb 18, 2015 |
post=30844037: Your resume is the first opportunity you get to make an impression on a potential employer. It is also the most crucial one. So, all job seekers must use it to the best of their capabilities. Make sure you try to avoid mistakes that can send your resume straight to the trash bin. The following are the most common mistakes job seekers make while creating their CVs. These mistakes often become the reason for candidates to get rejected.
1. Exaggerating Achievements and Fibbing
Stay honest when you are talking about your work history, skills and achievements. Amplifying these may come back at you when the recruiter runs a background check or wants you to do a certain task that you fibbed about. It takes very little time for the HR professionals to find out the truth. So stop bragging about things you don’t know or are aren’t experienced with as this may be the first and the last time you communicate with this company. Stick to facts that can be validated.
2. Mentioning Non-Contextual Work Experience and Hobbies
Only highlight work experience that is relevant for the profile in question. If you are seeking a graphic designing job, do not mention your stint as a ski instructor from five
years ago. It may convey a message that you do not hold adequate relevant experience. Stay focused on the profile you are applying to and site past duties that can prove useful for the role in hand.
3. Self-Praise Without Quantified Proof
If your resume’s professional summary starts with “A dedicated professional…,’ the recruiters will lose interest and you lose credibility. Applicants must establish objective facts with the presence of figures, and not just boring clichés. The key is not to say it, but show it. Quantify professional achievements, for instance if you have enhanced client retention by 20% over the last one year, say so explicitly, rather than plainly saying you have excelled as a sales professional.
4. Over-The-Top Beautification
Your resume document must be light and quick to open. Use a font style that is common and do not add heavy images as that can make the file heavy. Using photographs is irrelevant, unless you are an actor or model. They also irk the recruiters because they unnecessarily consume extra ink and take away the focus from your skills. Also, stop designing the CV with borders otherwise a part of it may get cropped when it is printed. Keep it simple yet smart.
5. Using Different Job Titles
Make sure you use job titles that are common and widely-used. These must also be searchable as applicant tracking systems use them as keywords to screen several CVs. Complex words and flowery language may cause the ATS to forego some important information that could have otherwise been useful for your candidature. Even if your resume is in the hands of a human recruiter, uncommon words and unique phrases can alienate you and your application.
6. Generalizing the Content of the CV
As a job seeker, you cannot afford to have a fixed resume that works for all employers. Your CV must be customized each time you wish to apply to a new company. When you find an opening, take some time to carefully read the job description and then edit and personalize your CV before sending it out. You must also visit the company website to get a better idea of their line of businesses and requirements. And double-check the document so that you don’t mistakenly send the CV for Company A to Company B. You can name all resume versions differently.
7. Non-Serious Email Address
Always make sure the email address you use to mail your resume appears non-casual. It must not have numbers or adjectives, else it may seem like you lack professionalism. An address like sarah.cook@gmail.com is way better than coolestengineer@yahoo.com . Whether it is IT or media, a professional-looking ID can help you score more job interviews. If you don’t have such an account, make sure you make one before mailing the resume.
8. Typos and Grammatical Errors
Spelling mistakes can seem highly unprofessional. So make sure you do not make any typos or grammatical mistakes as this can hamper your chances of landing an interview. Also, avoid writing slang or SMS lingo. Shortcuts like ‘ur’ and ‘b4’ can cause trouble.
Hope the above points can warn you against some major blunders and help improve your resume. Happy job hunting!

Sports › Flying Eagles Goalkeeper Dele Alampasu’s Transfer Saga Lingers by bosunjohns(op): 8:51am On Feb 11, 2015 |
Dele Alampasu’s transfer saga has continued to generate interest, as more controversy surrounding his recent transfer to Estoril Praia of Portugal mounts. On one hand, Ojo Oladimeji has blasted Sola Orelaja, saying he was shocked and amazed that the agent could instigate the young lad to bite the fingers that fed him by being part of a grand conspiracy to deny Future Stars Academy and Abuja Football College the contents of the transfer papers that took the goaltender to Estoril Praia of Portugal. The deal will start running by July 2015, but if the parties fail to settle, the contract might be terminated. In a report, it was also revealed that a club in Mexico wanted to pay the sum of 0.4m Euro for the services of the Flying Eagles goalkeeper, but some people kicked against it. Oladimeji revealed that they were not aware of events that led to Alampasu joining the Portuguese team and accused Orelaja of being out to ruin the career of the promising goalkeeper whom he nurtured from the cradle. “Where was Orelaja when Alampasu started his career? He is just an agent, who wants to pass through the back door. He has failed in his mission, in fact he is in a futile mission. “Orelaja has totally brainwashed my player I fed and mentored right from his time in Lagos before he was spotted by Abuja Football Club. “When did Remo Stars come to the picture? How does Remo Stars expect to reap from where they didn’t sow? I can’t believe that Remo Stars can descend so low to be involved in this scam, I’m afraid there is foul play. Let Orelaja show us the contract papers of the transfer,” he asked.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: 5 Things Recruiters Want To See On Your CV by bosunjohns(m): 9:45am On Feb 06, 2015 |
berildan: As originally culled from https://club340./
Ever wondered why that cozy, well-formatted, one-page résumé of yours hasn’t been landing any test invitations or interviews? It’s probably because recruiters of top MNCs have become bored of seeing the very same monochrome documents in every pile of résumés they process. Moreover, the year is 2015 and trends have changed for everything, from Toyota Models to one-page CVs (yeah, seriously!). So here are five suggestions to make your résumé stand-out from the pile.
1. LinkedIn Handle: Over the years LinkedIn has become a very integral platform for recruitment firms. Almost every Human Resources person or recruiting agent wants to know the “LinkedIn side” of you, so you’d better save them the stress of having to open a new tab on Mozilla by linking your résumé to your LinkedIn page. Moreover, since typical résumé length is 1-page, you could use your LinkedIn page to your advantage by putting all other information not listed on your resume. However, recruiters are only prompted to go there if you lure them with your linked handle (okay, enough with the links).
2. Highlights in pictures: As I said before, monochrome is boring. Recruiters can easily miss that awesome internship you did at Unilever or that wonderful scholarship award from Total E&P when you present these details in black and white. It is always advisable to provide graphical highlights of your major achievements. For instance, If I were a recruiter, I’d be more easily drawn to the short summary under the Microsoft Logo on your résumé, than one long statement about the firm, lost in-between the lines in black and white. (Especially when I only have an average of 30 seconds per resume).
3. GPA: These days, it is very common to find people listing their educational achievements without indicating their graduating class or GPA. Well, that might still land you opportunities with some boutique firms around your neighborhood. However, if you’re looking to play in the big leagues, you’d better start saying something about your grades early on in your résumé. This is the major factor most recruiters use in the first part of the screening process for most entry level positions (and even experienced hires), so by not indicating your graduating class, it’s an automatic throw in the “NO” pile. In fact, these days most recruiters want to see your very GPA and not just the class alone (because a 3.7/5 and a 4.48/5 are two different players in the same sport). Of course the only exception to this rule would be those that have obtained a degree class which is way below the requirement. For such people, presenting the degree anonymously can only do good to your application (especially if you have strong internships and notable extracurriculars which could convince the recruiter to offer you an interview).
4. IT Skills: For fellows in Arts and Humanities, recruiters are increasingly demanding just about the same IT skills from you as they require from your engineering and science-oriented counterparts. So spend the next summer break or your NYSC year learning advanced use of Excel (Excel is the most popular of the Microsoft Office suite programs used in most firms) , at least one programming language and proficient use of Windows 8, 8.1.
5. Unique Extracurriculars (ECs): In the 21st Century, almost every job-seeker loves to read, travel and swim as part of their past-times. Unfortunately, recruiters have become too used to these series of hobbies and are unimpressed by them. However, the candidate that says he loves rock-climbing and states that he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro last fall would still get some attention. He’d certainly be invited for interviews so long as he has met other criteria moderately (Which recruiter wouldn’t want to find out what the experience was like?). So it’d be better to highlight only extracurriculars that are unique to you. Of course as part of your ECs, it is also commendable to provide details of leadership experience during your undergraduate studies as this is just about the only way recruiters get know if you have leadership potential.
There you have it! Five suggestions that could change your résumé for good. Keep watching this page for more posts! |

smada13: 1. He knows he is good at something. Knowing his worth is usually the first step towards wealth creation. Baby-sitting, baking, gardening or whatever so long as he recognizes that the skills he honed are exchangeable for money.
2. He is self-disciplined. He has the ability to concentrate on future financial goals without swaying from everyday tasks that will lead him there. No matter how boring or unpleasant.
3. He lives below his means. It doesn’t mean he’s a miser. He chooses to accumulate more wealth rather than to succumb to short-lived pleasures of buying a Rolex or a BMW. Someone in the relationship has to make his sacrifice at the beginning. If not him, who else?
4. He is a doer. He doesn’t blabber on and on about how he is going to do something great. He just does it. He doesn’t complain about doing stuff. He just does it.
5. He is extremely curious. He takes time and effort to figure out the nuts and bolts of why things work or don’t work. Opportunity sometimes arises when he stumbles upon an unserved niche.
7. He is thick skinned. He has the balls to execute his crazy plans. Whatever they may be. Failure doesn’t concern him. Or should I say he isn’t afraid of being laughed at if he didn’t succeed. He repeats 6 and tries again.
Investing in men is largely based on intrinsic value. You’ll win some and you’ll lose some. But when you do win, make sure you win big. So good luck ladies. May the dating market be forever bullish.

Family › Re: Some Sweet USUALS Every Husband Is Supposed To Be Giving To His Wife by bosunjohns(m): 9:57pm On Jan 26, 2015 |
emusmith: Every Lady, I mean ALL are emotional and thus likes to be appreciated and loved, even the ones with seemingly loud mouth.
These things I'm about to mention are SUPPOSED to be usual but as time flies, men throw away their first love outa thin air. How pathetic!
I'm Single but I do believe (without apology or contrary opinions) that my future home will be Heaven on Earth because I'll make it work
I believe in love. I believe men ought to love their wives first, then upon her will come the inner strength to respect him unreservedly (some ladies be like, Now You're Talking )- okay
I have a vision of still being romantic to my wife at 80 and beyond.
It's easy only if a guy and a girl can settle down to plan at courtship how their home should look like. I have seen a few homes like that and that made me feel like getting married almost immediately
I'm not a Woman Wrapper... But even if I am to one Lucky woman, it's worth it.
What Are Some Sweet Usuals Every Man Is Supposed To Be Giving To Her Wife?
1. Pillow fight
Many marriages lack this game. Pillow fights lessens Real fights. It unites two people together. Have you ever played a video game with a crush before? If you have, you'll understand what I'm saying. Guys, hit her softly sha o... ...
2. Hold her hand in the street.
You may wonder why this is included... Except for some new couples and a few elderly ones, some men have gotten too familiar with their wives that they feel so " I dunno" to hold their wives hands on the street. As a matter of fact, this means a lot to her. It tells her your love for hasn't diminished a bit.
3. Be initiative enough to always take her out on special days.
Perhaps, you have grown up kids, take your wife out alone... The wife of your youth ... It's Valentine's Day, go on a date with her to re-enact your love for her. Your company's party? Take her along even if she's pregnant unless she refuses...
4. Open the car door for her.
This isn't ancient. Doing it makes her feel really special. You treat her like a Queen, She treats you like a King, remember? Do all you can to keep her smiling all the time- She is your wife o Who says it's wrong to buy her flowers...?
5. Wash her clothes even when she didn't ask
Some men are like King Kong. They so hold tenaciously the school of thought that doing such things for a Lady you're in relationship with makes her belittle you...That's Low Self Esteem! The Normal Ones respect and love you the more...You're helping her. 90% of women love this... Some will Form they don't but they do. Not when she is pregnant o, when she's okay and even lazily walking around...
6. Buy her little things she adores like her favorite chocolate etc.
Have you witnessed a lady in tears before just because she is trying to convey her feelings for you? What makes this happen is because you're helping her. Money isn't everything- it's important but not in this context! The gold diggers, will say otherwise. When you buy her those little things, you're telling her how THOUGHTFUL you are. An example is: After many weeks, I called a girlfriend just some hours before her exams and her reply was, "So you still remembered". I sensed something. Small things makes her let out the Big things.
7. Help Her In The Kitchen
Helping your wife in the kitchen does not mean wanting to show your cooking tech... Mba! It's not forming "I can do it better". In fact, hide your cooking skills! Don't get her to feel like the 2nd best...hype her, tease her...that she cooks excellently even if she sucks at it. If she's smart and wise, she'll put more effort to improving her skills if necessary. Your wife owns the kitchen. You own the yard. Help her cut onions, peel the yams and slice the tomatoes. Work as a team! Your mummy visiting you guys shouldn't try to lord it over her in HER kitchen... unless there's an understanding
SUMMARY: This thread is my belief system. Other threads might not totally agree but... I believe strongly this is how ME and every other guy aspiring to be a Father, Husband and the Head of the home some day ought to comport ourselves with our wives.
Ladies: You can add more.
Guys: What do y'all think? |
