LutanFyah: Yes, it's not compulsory at all.
It's not compulsory too for men to keep dying in the war front too. It's not compulsory for men to keep setting up neighbourhood watch (vigilantes) or police. It's not compulsory for men to be innovative and create internet, Facebook, cryptocurrencies, Twitter, electricity, electronics, phones, Covid 19 vaccines, cars, concept of money, judicial system, systems of government etc.
Women should use their brains and develop their own thing and stay away from men's products. I was going to give you return fire, but I discovered you are terribly ignorant and have lost the plot. Your above points highlight chauvinism without an atom of knowledge, intellect or focus. Your bloodthirsty kind created wars, so they must fight them to their last drop of blood. And you know the best part about it? Your kind deemed women too weak. So, you know what that means? They(males) must continue to die for your kind to feel good about their war decisions, and continue to die alone in wars of their own invention, while women will continue to thrive. Kudos to all the wars men invented. Kudos to all they've destroyed, too. Apatheticme, please educate another one of these about women in science. It appears the lower IQ creatures are uninformed and back again with their usual delusional assumptions about women. Men should use their brains and stop sounding stupider than testosterone always makes them sound. |

LutanFyah: Yes, I agree. It's not compulsory for the woman to cook too.
It's not compulsory for a man's to defend the homefront against inlaws or any intruder, the woman should develop basic self defence skills. Exactly. It's not compulsory for a woman to take care of a home or children. In fact, it is absurd to expect a woman to protect a relationship or family in any way. The men should develop nurturing skills and learn to build rather than destroy. |

No sane person would kill his fellow human being, only a retard would do that. But we've seen women do it and they are demonized. Nobody cares that they have a mental state. It's today I'm seeing that a murderer can have a mental state. But Maryam Sanda on this same forum was not accorded such consideration. Rather pages upon threads upon write ups about the devilish nature of the only evil in the world: women. But you are right, such check ups are needed in Nigeria. |

CalliDora1: I think it's high time the FG mandates a compulsory mental health routine check for all NIgerians living in Nigeria. I mean.... this depression is eating deep into every one by the day. Hian! It's strange how when a man commits such a gruesome crime, all men say he is mad or people find excuses for his act. But if a woman does it, there's no label that won't be given to all women. We would know how evil women are, forgetting her mental state. What if it isn't depression? What if it's just a wicked man going about his business? No one knows, so we can't say it's depression or madness. Some people have destructive anger. And yet some others inborn wickedness. |

eyinjuege: If it were a true emergency, the Dr should have attended to the pt and could be liable especially if their facilities offer emergency services. Patients also have a responsibility towards their own health and towards their health care providers. It's a 2 way street. Unfortunately, if trust is broken between pt and Dr and the relationship gone, its better someone else sees the pt If there is no other Dr in the hospital (especially if private, with few or no Drs), then it is only right to send the patient somewhere else. It may not mean the Dr took offence because he wasn't allowed to examine her previously. In certain cases (except in emergencies where they have A/E services) Drs can actually refuse treatment/ touch a patient (govt hospitals may be different though, but usually they would have other Drs there) You don't have a responsibility to see all patients that present before you. Your responsibility towards a patient only starts when you accept to treat such a patient, and you can be liable for a lot afterwards. So refer to another Dr in such a case. At the bolded, I sincerely believe private hospitals shouldn't offer emergency services except those like Eko hospital who have facilities just like teaching hospitals. Most of them aren't built to attend to emergencies. We need proper A/E services attached to proper hospitals in different parts of a town to cater to emergencies. Private cant really do the job but unfortunately Nigeria isn't ready to invest in her healthcare. Ideally it's a 2 way street, but in Nigeria, it is doctors that have the exclusive rights to refuse patients, because they feel they are doing patients a favor and it's the patients who need them. It seems you've never met egotistic doctors both private and public. They are always rejecting patients, but hardly ever the other way. Of course it is slightly different in private hospitals. But because private hospitals are rarely broad specialists, they still refer you to these teaching hospitals where patients have no rights, or rather, are uninformed about their rights. Going through the comments here, you can see a lot of people don't know or believe they have a right to consent students gawking at their bodies. I don't see why a doctor will take it personally if a patient doesn't want to see them. Isn't it part of their rights? Why use that decision they are entitled to, to victimize a patient? Most Nigerians aren't true professionals. They just have the titles. |

oracle009: Thank you o. Really?! I can't believe ALL I'm reading here. The situation in this country has mis-configured many people's brain. CONSENT IS EVERYTHING! Going to a Teaching hospital doesn't mean you are a guinea pig. It is the right of a patient to be informed that students will be brought over to examine you. Now, you can't even compel the patient to accept. It is against his/her fundamental rights. Infact, before ANY Doctor examines you, he should seek your consent to touch you.
Why are we so lackadaisical about these things? Here in the US, I am required to inform my students that I am going to be recording the Teaching sessions. If any of them objects, I dare not record. That is even a recording that is for their own benefit o.
Now, I am not in anyway demeaning Drs... And asking for consent doesn't in any way diminish learning. It only mean that we recognise and respect our rights as human.
I'm dissapointed in most comments I've read so far. I thought Nigerians don't have rights only when it comes to sexual consent, but if you check closely they don't think they deserve rights in matters of domestic violence, they don't think they have a right to not pay bribes, they don't even know they have a right to refuse a doctor treating them in a way they aren't comfortable with. The problem is that they don't understand personal bubbles and hate to think anyone doesn't want their touch, even in a professional setting. Consent is offensive to them. There should be consent in teaching hospitals across Nigeria. Stories I've heard will ensure I never go there myself. From doctors doing gynaecological checks leaving the doors open, to a crew of young disrespectful student doctors looking in and making unsavory comments, to having no rights at all in the, to doctors taking files to do their research WITHOUT PATIENTS CONSENT. And in most instances, the patient ought to be compensated! |

ElijahIme1992: but if the trainee doctors don't have real life specimen, how can dey get the necessary experience? They will eventually get experience the way others who aren't in teaching hospitals do. There is a proper way they should go about it. Just because people are there to see specialists doesn't mean they should lose their right to privacy. Not by just exposing them without their permission. |

Soknown: Reading comments on some posts, I think that we deserve the kind of leaders that we have.
Consent is important in everything, written or implied. Coming to the hospital ( Teaching hospital inclusive) does not mean, you rights are burnt.
You can exercise your rights at any point of the hospital journey.
You can voice your preference at any point, like you want a male or female to examine you. If you are discriminated against or denied anything because you chose to exercise your right or preference. You have a ground to sue.
For the Professionals in healthcare, aside consent always ask for a Chaperone when dealing with Service users especially the opposite gender. It is for your protection, not the other way. I once brought up this exact topic and people came up to insult me because they don't care for their human rights. They just don't care. Neither do they want to know they exist. Suffering and smiling people. In that case it was a woman who had an emergency, but the doctor rejected her from the whole hospital, because the last time she was there she said she didn't want him to check her body(which is her right). The doctor had taken offense. What high-handedness. And to think doctors and patients alike were in support of throwing her out of the hospital. It shows that Nigerians know no right or wrong, they just live by degrading rules they invented for themselves. You have a right to go to a teaching hospital and not be opened up for all and sundry to see. They should take your consent first. |

ElijahIme1992: but if the trainee doctors don't have real life specimen, how can dey get the necessary experience? The manner they go about doing it is shameful. Plus there needs to be consent. Just because they are the only ones who treat certain conditions doesn't mean the patient must become a circus in which all students enter and move on. I heard that some just open to show them and these young students may laugh or express emotions that make the patients uncomfortable |

Brandonx: He's saying this as though the Nigerian government cares about her citizens. The only thing they are good at is enriching themselves. They can as well go ahead and procure vaccines for themselves and families.
But on a second thought Bill might actually want the Nigerian government to stall a little to confirm their predictions on people dying on the street. Or maybe Gates isn't the authority on vaccines. He's out of his depth. Anyone who believes him will believe anything. |

privaldo: I never said Stellenbosch wasn't good. It's among the best South African universities alongside University of Cape Town and University of Witswaterand, my argument is that in recent times the ranking of Stellenbosch has dropped, and so it shouldn't be placed up there because of its age long reputation. Be that as it may, I tend to think of them as one of the best, if not the best. It's only recently Wits has been getting there. How the mighty are fallen. |

Even check out Federal University, Dutse ranking higher than Bowen and Babcock. Once again this list is for the waste bin. Little wonder people don't take their rankings seriously, if you want a well researched ranking of universities, check out: QS, Times Higher Education, and ARWU. But Stellie is that good.
