Wife batterers rarely change. They have deep behavioral issues and feel entitled to exerting themselves on their wives, and will go to any extent to justify it. The 5th one the police said they see nothing wrong and directed her to women affairs and her parents still went ahead to call soldiers. She claims to always be beaten but from what we gathered, the guy is not that type and has always tried to run and avoid her. It has nothing to do with dowry and everything to do with the way the society views women who aren't married.

It also has to do with men who have never been taught how to coexist with respect for women. A man abusing a woman isn't because of him paying her dowry.
