It's imaginary or a lie.
Is it now?

I think it could also be myth, or hallucinations - of the writer, and/or the reporters, or copied from similar stories elsewhere, or it could have been mistranslated with its meaning or implication lost in time, and so on and so on.

The skeptic would not conclude "it's", until conclusive evidence is seen or not. Either ways, the skeptic would continue to consider the significance of the evidence, as in why would such a narrative be in such a book, and what could it mean, and what does it imply to oneself and others, and on and on until the skeptic is enlightened or runs mad.

What skeptics would or, (since no one is perfect), should never do is form an opinion inside their own head and stick with it, because, as soon as they do that they become believers of the crap they create in their heads due to their lack of or insufficient skeptism.

No, not lately. Used one many years ago.

Which would you recommend?

We have no serious evidence to support the claim that countries with significantly lower death counts did anything that could be considered more 'wise and proper' than the rest, is what I am saying.
I beg to differ. One just need compare USA with Canada to see the difference in how a competent nation did much better than an incompetent one.

Hausa girls are coming to Osun to school? Awesome.

The South is providing the solution and not inheriting the problem.

Your Govt would have to do capacity management, ensuring the current facilities can cater to the influx in addition to the existing kids. (now, I wish sad )

I am curious, who sponsors them though? Where do they stay? Who caters for them? Do their parents/guardians/husbands know where they are?
We've had Hausa's in my home town from when they used to buy kolanut and stayed. Now we've become a major depot for beans, maize and millet from the North. They bring it to us, repackage and sell all over the South.

State schools are free, but some do go private. And yes, their families know where they are as is found out soon as they are messed with.

I would love to believe you but the number of Hausa girls who have already migrated to my own hometown just so they can go to school makes me believe otherwise.

Do you think Kubura's guardians would send her to school if she was a boy?
Yes I do. They send her brothers to school.

bukatyne:
Is her sex the problem or the condition of her parents?
Sex, I think. It makes it easier for them to justify her not going to school.

When all we have is a hammer, every problem begins to look like a nail.
Maybe we should look more carefully so we do not end up hammering our own thumbs.

No, I was not a "children who considered eating a form of inhuman torture", and I used to have a very healthy appetite though ate little.

There were five of us plus three cousins so we could not afford much on Ma's salary, and we regularly had to share what we did have with the more hungry neighbours. I joke today how our biscuits were pawpaws I planted in the yard.

Is there any one stopping any girl/woman from what she wants to be in the society today?
Yes. Little for her age 12 year old Kubura used to sit under a tree from 7am to 6pm making gari. Kubura has two brothers, one 14 and the other 7, who after school and ile kewu play all day.

Kubura calls me every term to thank me because she can go to school for the term after I banned her custodians - her aunt and uncle, since their mother is too poor to care for her own - from making her work during school hours. They agreed so long as they are not obliged to pay her paltry ₦5000 a term fees.

I hope I do not need to describe how she is being disadvantaged.

You did not understand my post then.

Most of the issues are poverty based. If you really want to solve the problems of the North, then they need to be treated separately.

For optics and whinning/emotional post like the OP's, we can lump them up.
I'm from Osun State. All those things you listed happen there so I do not see why I should solve the North's problem when I have the same problems down in my South.

Besides, if those problems are due to poverty, and I agree it has a lot to do with though the underlying cause of financial poverty is intellectual poverty, I'd be naive to think the problems wouldn't migrate South looking for solutions like our current Fulani in the South problem.

This is white man's food. This morning I had Fufu and okro soup at work. This evening I'm having something similar, this time with vegetables. Young man, you need to eat nourishing food. I don't know what it is with you people in obodo oyibo and coffee. cheesy Let me guess: your coffee didn't have milk...

I remember last year when my boss told my colleague to make coffee for him. No milk like you guys like it. Shortly afterwards the baba screamed from his office "Sarah, you want to poison me??!"

She had spooned coffee into the water like she was spooning bournvita. You can imagine the aftermath grin
Lol! I was living on coffee with milk before leaving Nigeria, and that's after upgrading from ogi. If I eat fufu in the morning.... In fact, even as I'm typing my mouth is looking at me like I'm mad and my stomach is laughing at the thought. You know like some do 111 and some 101 and variations? buda does 1½ on a good day and ⅓⅓ on fair days. On some its just 0½0, and that's despite my good cooking.

I'm having a small tuna salad tonight I think, if I can find the space. A litre of cider has already filled me up.

Maybe you threw me off with your claim that their acts were 'godly' in some way when there is really no proof of such for most any of the countries you mention, and yes, I don't believe there to be a single 'god fearing' country on this planet.
I specifically used the word to mean "the wise and proper thing to do", and not in a 'god fearing' sense. Some countries on my godly list fear no gods.

Kobojunkie:
The USA may have handled a good portion of this unwisely, but you can definitely not assert that Nigeria handled it's own case any better then the U.S did.
I have the feeling that if a comparable proportion of Nigerians as Americans had died you'd be singing a very different tune.

I'm sure if you are told you'd surely die but live another 800 or so years you'd be begging to die.

Still note. Humans always died, and the idea some even lived 100s of years is rather comical, not to talk of them living forever until they ate the fruit and their eyes opened..

Now tell me, have you used the string to search on Google and you havent come across loads of other people sharing the same information that the phrase “mowt tamut” in Hebrew, translated to English “you will surely die” in the original text, expresses, death in time and not an immediate death nor a sudden death. In other words, meaning Adam & Eve would eventually die if/when they eat from the TKGE and that is exactly what happened, A&E progressively died.

Are you that scared that your illusion will be destroyed, if you should do the Google search with the “mowt/mot tamut” string and find out the truth

Nothing of what Nigeria did was wise at the beginning of all this. Nigeria did nothing better then countries like Spain, Italy, South Africa, Madagascar or even America. There is no record that Nigeria, Jamaica, Cameroon, Sierra Leone, etc. did anything better than any of the countries with higher death toll. None
So how you attribute the lower death rates in these countries to some phantom 'godly' decision when we know there was no such? undecided
What you are doing amounts to throwing those most affected under the bus so you can claim God saved the others, and we know God don't work like that.
I never claimed God saved anyone, Kobo, you are reading your own meaning into what I'm saying and I resent your baseless inferences because I know you are smarter than that.

Godly wisdom is not what God did but what people who are wise do. You might understand this by noting how some countries that do not even worship God are in my godly column while some that do majorly worship God are in the ungodly column.

If our government and people had been as unwise and careless as USA has been, ungodly that is, more people would have died.

budaatum:
I think it is. The ignorant satan led pastors lost and died while the godly one's told their congregation to stay at home and isolate and live.

When this ends we shall easily be able to tell which church worships satan and which God.
Note it's an opinion. You do not have to share it.

What facts? Are the facts you speak of the low death rate or the actual events that took place during the early days of the crisis, events that are recorded even right here on nairaland showing Nigeria took none of the 'wise' steps you credit it for? undecided
I did say I was waiting for results to come in instead of the noise on Nairaland, and those results are the number of people who died. Those who did the right things have fewer deaths and those who didn't have more.
