basilico:Democracy is a battle for minds, and the winner is whoever gets the most votes. See below (though in unfree minded bias magagqpspeak) what the majority have chosen to be the law in the land they live in! We are losing the ideological war with the Democrats who are busily creating a one-party state by destroying the Supreme Court, abolishing the Electoral College, eliminating voter I.D.s, flooding the polls with unsolicited mail-in ballots, demonizing opponents as “insurrectionists” and traitors, de-platforming presidents and prominent conservatives, banning books they find “offensive,” conducting witch-hunts of conservatives in the military, in the Capitol police, in the Department of Homeland Security, and turning our schools into indoctrination centers for anti-American, racist ideologies. Critical Race Theory and the 1619 Project are now the curricula in thousands of K-12 schools. The crackpot racism of these theories turns our national heritage upside down, caricaturing Americans as slaveocrats and racists rather than as the leading defenders of freedom and equality in the world. |
feedthenation:They even said indefinite ban was not specific enough. They should consider upgrading it to a permanent ban like twitter did. |
donnyflex01:Neither could I find a decree 9. Regardless, a Gowon decree would annul an Ironsi decree if they conflict just as the creation of 12 states annulled Ironsi's 4 regions. |
What exactly is the details of Decree 9? The Unification Decree: No. 34 of 1966 creating 4 regions. Gowon's broadcast to the nation - May 27, 1967 creating 12 States |
Kenneth Max Copeland (born December 6, 1936) plans to not die till he is 120 years old. |
Study hard. Don't waste too much of your time on Nairaland. |
laiperi:Actually, you can be a politician in Nigeria without "being a confirmed and celebrated looter, thug, bandit or Armed Robber as in Military or Police". The problem you might face is the people might not elect you because you do not pay them to, and would rather elect someone who does pay them without realising that after being elected the person who paid them will loot to get a return on their investment. What is amusing is that when the person who paid them loots to get a return on the investment of paying them they will now moan that the person they elected is a looter, lol, as if the payment they received was not Abu's money being used to entertain their Abus. We soon learn when our self inflicted suffer reach, I promise. |
JohnBullMySon:I think they do know. They must have after all heard about the billions recovered from Abacha and read how hard we fought for this democracy they now want to hand back. I think they just do not have any faith in themselves to be democratic to chose their own leaders, and would rather be dictated to like kids. When they grow into adults they will learn to be responsible. We just must meanwhile patiently educate them. |
Mikehot:If you go to any school at all you'd know what I am saying or at least be willing to learn instead of just ignorantly assuming you already know when you obviously have not got a clue. |
MaxInDHouse:You might as well ask what sense is there in "unless one be born again". Or have you not been taught that it means evolve, Max? |
Mikehot:Abdul, do you listen to for fuq face? |
sarrki:Democracy is not a miracle cure. It takes a while for you to be sufficiently educated by the process to elect suitable leaders to rule over you. You've only been at it since 1999. Be patient instead of clamouring for military rule that was much worse and gave you no choice. At least with democracy we can be responsible for our choice of leaders and the state we put ourselves in instead of irresponsibly blaming others for what we do to ourselves. |
sarrki:There are some who say Nigeria was better off during colonisation too. Some are even begging for the return of slavery! I just think they were sleeping or not yet born. |

I don't think you need to poison beans for fowl to die after eating it. Anyone who's grandma kept fowl would have been told the beans will swell up inside the fowl and kill it! |
Evidence that we are not under a spell is we do not listen to fuq face Kayode! |
Kebbiprince:Were you not born at the time or were you not opposing Obasanjo's third term such that this one senator prevented him? Perhaps you should inform yourself by going to see how we all joined in to stop Obasanjo's third term then you will credit our effort instead of giving all the glory to one single senator. |
Man102:Was probably useless as a senator and lost his seat. But he should not give up. He must still have access to his former colleagues and can still run again to implement his ideas. I wish him luck. |
He is a Senator. He should be implementing his ideas in bills before the Senate he is a part of instead of writing open letters to the President! |
He can swear by his grandfather's grave and his great grandfather's grave and his own grave too if he really wants to. 6 months will pass quick and the rest of us will be here in our unbroken Nigeria. Today's date is Monday, 03 May 2021, so calculate 6 months from now when you oppose what I've said please. |
GodHatesBigots:No you are not naive to believe the evidence you perceive with your own senses. Most on here will say negative things about other tribes and religions then go out of their homes and associate peacefully with those they've said negative things about on here. It's like they are inflicted with from some sort of cognitive dissonance, which you obviously do not seem to suffer from. Basically, you are healthy in the midst of lots of unhealthy people and are now thinking you should become unhealthy like them. Please don't! God hates bigots! |
Jahwinaboy:You will be most abundantly blessed. |
codemaniacs:Be honest. It only pains you because you are paid less than me. |
This Clarke must have been born tomorrow or completely missed history lessons in school if he is not aware how much we agitated to get rid of the military he now wants to take over in Nigeria. He fails to understand that while a Buhari might not be ruling Nigeria how we may want him to, 8 years will soon end and we would elect someone else, which we would not be able to do if the military takes over. Hopefully commenters on here were not born tomorrow and did attend history lesson in school and will therefore disagree with him. |
codemaniacs:Why does the term "puppet on a string" spring to my mind, I wonder. Was GEJ the most powerful man in Nigeria? Is Buhari self the most powerful man in Nigeria? Or do I just not understand what you mean by "powerful man"? Perhaps its because I'm a judge by fruit person. I don't think the powerful man will do what is described below as we are discovering from Weah's powerlessness, or power to block internet over protests if that is what you mean. 1. adjective. A powerful person or organization is able to control or influence people and events. You're a powerful man–people will listen to you. |
BigBashiru:They are not representing government, they are representing themselves! You know very well the money they collect does not get to government coffers. Which makes me change your final question to What's wrong with we Nigerians?? And for an answer, see here. |
zedman1:You are correct. Our problem is not the leadership but the followership (to coin a word). We sit on our asses and expect the leader to perform magic instead of realising we are responsible for doing the work. Its like when God is written to have said "Let there be Light". We have not yet figured out the immense work that needed to be done before it could be written that "there was light". We think it was a miracle performed by God who we claim created us in its image so we too can just say "let there be good governance in our nation", and good governance in our nation will appear out of thin air. I promise that the day will come when we realise that "let us" is plural, and plural 'we' must be fruitful, as in be productive and rule over our resources (ourselves included), in order to be blessed with the good governance we so much desire instead of waiting for miracles. |
Lazycapitalist2:It's the Messiah Complex in us. Instead of doing the work of overcoming sin we learn a Jesus Christ will die for us and the wages of our sins will dissapear. And this despite the fact he taught that we all must bear our own crosses and do greater things than he did. When our suffer reach our eyes will most certainly open I reckon. |
Lazycapitalist2:While we expect our country to become paradise through not sweat and toil as if we believe God lied when the ground was cursed and the progress and peace we hope for will fall like manna from heaven. Our suffer never reach. When e reach we will stop being lazy and realise we must do work to achieve our goals and ambitions. I just hope our irresponsibility and laziness does not make us starve and reduce in number first. |
AllenSpencer:They work harder and smarter to get such a life. Awunliandvictor: |
