With the way people quickly refer jambities to page0 is getting annoying i think u people need to chill and understand that, there is not prize for it at the end of the thread. and i dug into into so called nowadays "Seniors" most of you self ur own very first question is worse. there is something call waka pass if u think the question has been asked couple of times.i just look at few people like seriously few weeks ago u are upandan asking questions like kilode now that u submitted ur application u joined page0 referral, As much as i encourage self reading and research lets not forget google just take people to current page and last comment hence some newbies just ask questions directly, I know all what everyone needs to start with is on page0 but if u cant answer them just waka pass cos the same energy u take bash them is the same energy to give them quick info. and if u think it is because the thread is going full very fast. Well, Most so called seniors will quickly come out in full to bash or refer someone to page0 just to stay relevant or what and is not just only that often times it looks more of mocking this people than advising them simply because u are ahead of them.
How about will start congratulating people with "like button" only if we want to minimize the page.
however, kudos to some selfless people on this thread for their wonderful input, advice and encouragement. whichever group u belong to (Ielts,Wes,Ita,awaiting PPR,Copr or landing) God will see us all thru (amen).

I just hope you're done with IELTS. Because this your English is bad. Very bad.

Hello house, pls this is my first post on this section. Am planning on applying for Canadian visa via ETA(e-visa) application for myself and wife....no kids yet. I have few questions to ask pls.
1. Can one apply for permanent resident there as I don't intend to come back?
2. Between online and paper application, which is better?
As ETA is usually 4-5 years visiting visa and i think paper is like 6months thereabout for visiting.
3. what are the disadvantages and advantages
Hints for further assistance. ...am a banker by profession and wifey be Nurse. Thanks guys.

Before I answer, please find the definition to the following:

1) ETA
2) Visiting visa

When you find the definition, you'll quickly come back and maybe delete your post or Apologise for asking us such questions. grin

Hello, I had nti's PGDE before doing my Masters. Does evaluating both PGDE and M.sc make any difference? or I should just evaluate my M.sc only as planned.

Thanks

Nahhh. You need to evaluate your JSCE transcript from JSS3 with your MSc to claim "three or more certificates". The 3 in JSS3 will be evaluated to represent 3 certificates. So your CRS will be like 700. Good luck.

Am happy someone is making headway I completed my PGDE with NTI in 2016. Presently am stuck at CRS 429. I pray you will get positive results on the evaluation. Please let us know how it goes so we can follow suite. Thank you. Well done!

You better go and evaluate it. My friend just got her report from WES for NTI for PGDE. And she equivalent to Canadian One year certificate plus her BSC so she got two or more certificates. Her score is 460 in the pool. She don dey gather documents already.

Tojued, a lotta people who follow this thread and are not the PA, usually do the whole application for their spouse. Most times is because their spouses are not on NL, have a very busy schedule, or application-filling is not their thing.

Random POF question. So my 3 months fixed deposit as matured and GTB credited my account as opposed to rolling it over. Can I go back and refix the money in any other branch or it has to be the branch I did the initial one considering the fact that the letter given to me has the address of the branch and I am assuming if CIC wants to confirm they will confirm from the address on the letter or it doesn't matter. Thanks and sorry if this issue has been raised or answered before.

@ the bolded, did you grow up in Ibadan? Writing as you dey pronounce am grin

Seriously though, I don't think there's any issue with going with another bank. Then sending CIC the updated POF explaining as you have explained here. Also showing the statement where the money matured and was paid into your GTB. That's what I would do to sleep well at night.

Dear Concerned Oga Boss,

I have read through Page 0, and can’t find where any issue like this was treated. Please help

Brief: I work as a Human Resources personnel. I have a Master’s degree in Geology (2011), and a Professional Diploma / ‘Associate of the institute’ form the Institute of Chartered Personnel of Nigeria (2010).

From previous readings, I noticed that it is best one evaluates the highest qualification with WES, which is my Masters, but knowing well that the ‘Associate of the Institute’ is more related to my work experience at the moment.
1. Do you think it is advisable I evaluate both the ‘Associate of the Institute’ and the Master’s degree with WES, or just the Master’s degree? As I would like to continue with the HR practice in Canada

Thanks

If you really really read through page zero, you would know that for Immigration and CRS points, your Masters alone is fine. Your question should be has anyone ever evaluated diploma from Associate of the Institute positively? Then research to see the requirements for getting into the HR profession in Canada. Because that your diploma could be useless in HR in Canada.
Now since this thread is for immigration purposes, go and evaluate your Masters and call it day. grin

Good morning family,i need your advise.. We(i n hubby) are currently on 427 because of the age on his passport and transcript. which is one year more than his real age(a silly childish mistake he made during waec)with his actual age we would be on 432. What is the best way to tackle this and claim 432 bearing in mind his next B-Day is a few days away(17th) which will bring our score down to 422 instead of 427 thanks to the error in his secondary school days... . Thanks in advance

Hahahaha this is hilarious. That's how one lady came to me for help, while trying to calculate her CRS, I asked her age. She was confused becoz she couldn't remember which age she used on her passport, she said she'll get back to me. I said ok oh.

Nigerians, when will we stop this nonsense.

Okay. I get you a tiny bit. But the rights and benefits of Canadians and Americans in other countries are no so different. Ease of migration is almost the same for both passports. But I agree healthcare isn't 100% in Canada but you can afford it. In America that you have the healthcare, the costs can run you (even as a citizen) dry plus the healthcare system in Canada will improve. America has a higher unemployment rate for college graduates and how about the violence in America? Black people are prominent in America because there are a lot of them. For every successful black person in America there a 100 living in poverty. So let's take the whole picture.

But it is as if you didn't read my epistle. My child is part of a family and not a stand alone human being. So decisions should be made for the whole family including future children to come. In this case I cannot live in the US with my child and if anything goes wrong next year I risk loosing my PR in the long run. So in this my situation is the US passport really better?

You are a very smart and intelligent woman. I can tell from your posts, and I have no doubt you will make the right informed decision for your family.
I also have no doubt you will do well as a first time mum. You will look back and wonder why you were worried in the first place. I wish you the very best and God's favor. smiley

What is the black demographic in the US as opposed to that of Canada?
The black population in Canada is less than 1 million or 2.5 % of the entire Canadian population.
Whereas, the black population in the US is 37 millions or 12% of the entire population
Given these facts, there is more chance to see a lot black in the position of power in the US.
Simple probability math.

Canadian overseas are treated just like American and in some places even better. Some American prefer to travel overseas with the Canadian passport

You are taking no prisoners today. cheesy

Good day guys, I saw this on a public forum, I want to know how true it is.

Rent credits

If you’re a renter and you live in Ontario or Manitoba, you will get some money back from the government for paying rent, provided that you’re paying rent for your principal resident. Keep in mind that in Ontario at least, this tax credit is based on your overall family income — you might not get anything back if you don’t fall into the “low income” or “middle income” category.

Now if you do (you probably will if your household income is below $50,000 per year), you’re eligible for the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit, a small sum of money you will get back each month. The maximum amount you can claim is $1,008 for the whole year — those 65 or older can claim $1,148 a year, and students are eligible for $25 every month for the length of time during the year that you live in a student residence.

In Manitoba, you can receive a credit of up to 20 percent of your rent payments (or $700, whichever is less) as part of your tax returns.

Now if you work from home, and having a home office is a requirement as part of your employment, a portion of your monthly rent can be included in your tax return regardless of which province or territory you live in. According to the Canada Revenue Agency, if 10 percent of your home is used for work or to run your business, then 10 percent of your rent can be used as either a business expense or employment expense that is tax deductible.

If you file your taxes electronically, you technically don’t need to submit your proof that you paid rent. But always keep your rent receipts in case you are audited by the CRA.

I don't know about ON but when I lived in MB and filed taxes, I always submitted my rent receipts with my tax papers and got some money back.

@Geebaby10, may you birth safely. In my opinion you should give birth in US. You can't compare the worth of an American passport to that of a Canadian one(think of the future not only money to be spent). If your child has an American citizenship, Canadian permanent stay and Nigerian passport, he or she is covered all round.

If I ask who be this dumb person, them go call me rude. So may I walk on by.

Choi!!! Ma'am, your head is there o. Sincere and factually on point, please would appreciate your help in dissecting this issue also.

We've got few mum's here with babies and young children who are planning to move to Canada without their spouse for various reasons, hopefully temporarily. Would appreciate your input as to jobs one can take up considering that short operating hours creches run might not be at tandem with these survival and entry level jobs. I believe this is achievable, but having the right information and planning is key else, could turn out to be frustrating. That's my major challenge right now. Thanks maami grin grin grin

The only thing that I think will work will be home based jobs. There are quite a number of them. And they're mainly Customer Service jobs. There are also some Social work that can be done at home, with one day in the office. My friend currently does this, and she makes a lot of money. Her husband lives in the U.S.
What I advise is whilst doig your job search, filter it to home based roles. Most of these jobs require you have a home office set up. So you'll need a working desktop (what Nigerians call 'system'), printer, scanner, work station desk and the right swivel chair. Sometimes they send a HR person to inspect your home office to make sure it ticks their standard. You're also expected to be logged on to their server at times when you're expected to be working. So fast internet connection is a must have.
Other home based jobs include project coordinating/managing roles.

Truth is, they're not hard to find. You just have to use the right search engine and select what roles you think will work for you, also considering the salary as well.

An issue that may arise is that until your child's sponsorship is through, he/she will not have medical coverage in Canada and you would need to buy health insurance for your baby.

These are my thoughts, choose a province that provides health care coverage on landing to permanent residents e.g. Saskatchewan or Alberta. Have your baby and within one week after birth, get baby's Canadian passport and travel to the States where you have family.
I understand the issue of having a support system even for the delivery so if it is possible for you to have one of your family members from the US with you for the delivery, you may want to do that.
If that is not possible, you can always reach out to other believers, if you are one, in your intended city and you may be quite surprised by how much help you would receive.

Canadian immigration is an entity that is quite difficult to predict and I would personally rather minimize my interaction with them.

Hope this helps. Cheers!

I was just gonna suggest this.

Geebaby10, my dear please take this advice. Your infant is allowed to fly from 1 week old, flight duration is not a problem. I flew with a 2 week old from Atl to Nigeria 3 years ago. Flight to U.S won't reach that long.
Your problem is deciding which province to pick, then reach out to folks on here who can give you pointers or help. You don't even have a guarantee that you'll be allowed entry into the U.S once the see your CoPR. So please reconsider. Hopefully you make the best decision for you and your baby.

Good luck.
