Joagbaje: What of offering? Or do suggest we worship God without giving at all.
Be specific just as you're specific on tithes.

which of the offerings? burnt, peace, sin, heave, first fruits, passover, tabernacles etc?

be specific on the type you give to God today.
Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings by Candour(m): 9:35am On Dec 02, 2013
Alwaystrue: cheesy @Gombs,
Are you a commentator? Lolz. Their not believing is proof of what happens when people live life in the physical and do not understand divine principles. Some blessings will seem like a lie to them.
God's principles are eternal, belief, praying, studying more about God and walking with him, which gives us the right heart and mind in the first place, giving, fasting, diligence at work and business, honesty, intergrity, staying away from sin and so much more.
All these work together to help.in abundant life and we should expect persecutions, and trials but they all work together for our good.

@Joagbaje, why should they faint? I thought they give their all, 100% cheerfully and without compulsion in the first place.
I remember where you shared how you helped that poor, naked man that was said to be mad on a thread a long time ago and people still did not believe it, infact they supposed 'advicates' of the poor started castigating you. It was proof to show it is all a show of words they claim to profess to help. By God's grace, I have picked a beggar and refugee from the street, preached to him and paid his airfare back to his family and also assist with his school fees and needs. Now these are such testimonies we should be hearing more, Isn't it?
And how is the young man now?
@the bolded, very very good.

Those are the testimonies that we should be hearing. That is the kind of actions that Christ spent 16 verses talking about in Matt 25 not that of some corrupt politician paying tithes and reaping the national treasury or some tithe administrator counting personal jets.

Now you're really talking
Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings by Candour(m): 9:30am On Dec 02, 2013
Joagbaje: You want some people to faint here Oo .
Of course empty people whose existence is determined by money and materials will faint.

Those who look out for the glorious hereafter will chuckle because they know every money you have is peanuts when compared to that controlled by the children of the bondwoman for starters.

Why not call up your glorious 'tithing testimonies' thread so we can read and faint? Or is yours and Oyaks the only real evidence of tithes working while your members only have paper testimonies and the testimonies of others far away to share?
Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings by Candour(m): 9:23am On Dec 02, 2013
Gombs: The similarity is they were both done in faith.
And you dont do first fruits in faith?

Because here is about tithes and offerings...read d topic again
no wahala though every participant on this thread has talked about something different from tithe at one time or the other.

Open a thread for that
ok

When Jesus said he was from above, folks couldn't 'verify' that too...does/did that make Jesus a liar?
And you think you have a right to place yourself on the same pedestal as Christ? Christ said plenty things that i take by faith. You mean i should also swallow your own personal claims by faith too?

What if I don't want to? Cos if I did, you won't believe anyway!
You won't because you honestly have nothing to say. You were so quick to mention Econet, GEJ, PEJ but you suddenly can't mention yours.

You're nothing better than any non tither earning a honest living and able to pay his bills. For this, you should be grateful to God as we all are and stop mouthing very spurious claims my bro.

grin
Prove you wrong?...I shd get you tapes or documents or drive to your house? Even at that, you still won't believe!

grin
Have you received a car gift before? Dont tell me your father gave you a car o because i too bought my wife a car for birthday. I mean a total stranger gave you a car, a house, a piece of land etc.?

Your opinion are duly noted!
grin
ok

And you are now glorifying an atheist? Wonderful!

grin you shd be ashamed of you last sentence. You sure you knw Jesus?
i'm not glorifying an atheist. I'm telling the reality of you and i(Christians) discussing and arguing on a network created and sustained by an atheist. Do you want to gloss over this fact?

You should be the one ashamed that despite all your tithing, you're still struggling for space on a platform created by an unbeliever who doesn't tithe.

Jesus didn't die to give me stupendous wealth so i have nothing to be ashamed of my bro.

We see Gates, zukerberg, etc what they've started, show us how many you started so that we can know the efficacy of anti tithing principles
There is nothing like 'anti tithing principle'

Gates and Zuckerberg follow the principle of hard and smart work which God promises to bless(Prov 22:29) and its irrespective of belief or lack of. You claim to follow Tithing principle so tell us why the principle followed by atheists is more efficacious than yours?
Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings by Candour(m): 8:59am On Dec 02, 2013
Gombs: Candour, frosbel, kunle ... get a jotter and pen o!
I see Oyaks own, I see econet guy own(you told me o), where is your own? we are even arguing on a platform created by a non tithing atheist.

I have the jotter and pen ready my bro....oya start enumerating those blessings. However, they must be verifiable o like that of econet guy.

By bitter you mean Frosbel some notable NLders like Goshen, Candour, Kunle etc
grin

I tire o!!!!!!
No bitterness bro. Just curiosity and surprise that con men take intelligent people by the nose and lead them through a web of deceit. It's weird i tell you

Need I say more Candour?

Her last Paragraph shd close down this thread

*continues Kabashing
And you believe Muslims or even atheists are denied all those things Alwaystrue listed up there? They even get more. A classmate of mine in the university who didn't come out with a good grade so couldn't get a good job is a serious muslim. We still communicate as i try to assist him one way or another. He called me last 2 weeks to tell me one big guy who comes to their mosque gave him a new toyota corrolla without his asking. Is that a testimony to the power of tithe?

My dear the only thing that is different between you and them is that you have the hope of eternity and they don't. Even if its health, some of them have it better. For instance Paul Crouch of TBN died at 79 after some years of battling a heart condition while Warren Buffet, an agnostic is still going strong at 85. So how come health devourer didn't touch him but went to attack the TBN guy? or you think he didn't spend money on hospital bills?
Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings by Candour(m): 8:36am On Dec 02, 2013
Gombs: How many times did Jesus need die? Once right?
And you think its right to compare the work of the cross with Tithes?

That one na another topic...open a thread for it
Another topic?? why not here?

the question is if you strictly follow Abraham on tithes, how come you run to Moses for example on first fruits?

They don't exist in your mind, soul and spirit
Ok. will you believe me if i tell you i own twitter? Sure you wont so your tithing testimonies with which you encourage others must be tangible and verifiable. If they're not, then they are all lies.

Joagbaje opened a thread for you and others to make them public so why not oblige us? i trust you're not afraid to share those testimonies if they truly exist? or are you?

Unbelievable right? Try tithing and see God move like ....
My bro. Its totally unbelievable. Say it here if you've EVER received gifts of cars, houses, trips abroad etc like your pastors always do. Gombs, i say you lie if you say somebody gave you a gift of a car or house or land. Prove me wrong and i'll apologize.

Which I could get to you a dvd of IPPC 2013...this december we are feeding 1million kids in 9ja alone... We have a food bank and are on food drive.... Join us make some kids have a merry christmas
i'm happy to hear about the charity to needy children.

So, GEJ is a thieve just because he's your president? And he doesn't have a business/businesses? Smh
Have you heard of code of conduct bureau? Our dear president shied away from it exactly like somebody who has plenty to hide. Even Yar'adua a muslim from a stupendously rich family declared his assets in line with Nigerian laws. If GEJ was clean, he'd have done same.

Have you also heard of a conflict of interest? If GEJ's 'businesses' do not conflict with the oath of office he swore to, then kindly tell us just as you mentioned the business of the econet guy.

And your exploits are all over google.com?

grin
My bro, i NEVER made any claims. You said you use your tithing testimonies to encourage folks to tithe so the onus on you is to prove you're more successful than hiding in a corner of a network owned by an atheist who surely doesn't tithe.

We see evidence of Oyaks(at least he started Yookos), you mentioned Econet, so which have you started so we can know the efficacy of this principle?
Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings by Candour(m): 7:39am On Dec 02, 2013
Gombs: How many forms of tithing Pa AB had/ observed?
we are told of one which he did only ONCE

When you do first fruits, whose example are you following? Abraham or Moses?

Wrong conclusion.... Go and hear testimonies out there
Joagbaje opened a thread for that purpose but he had to escape from it when you and others refused to educate us on those outstanding testimonies. Could it be because they're non existent?

Yelz...why not?....in fact I get stuffz for free.... Brand new free o!..why would you EVER think my tithing aint working and I kept at it? And still telling other to start tithing?
Really? As in gifts of cars, houses, trips abroad? My bro, you mean you actually receive these kinds of gifts? Pls be honest.

You shd wait till I share my partnership testimonies...maybe I'd open a thread. Do you do partnership? (It's a definite no sha!)
I'll love to hear those partnership testimonies pls. I partner with groups devoted to folks on the fringes of society. Specifically widows and orphans and you should see the joys on their faces due to relief. That is testimony enough for me.

You lie... Let me give you few examples.... Strive Musiyawi (got the spelling wrong) owner of econet, SA first lady, Me, Bidam, Jo, GEJ (he pays tithe like mad) etc
OK so you have the econet guy abi? You also mentioned PEJ and GEJ?? Can you not leave those in charge of our collective commonwealth out? What business do they do other than loot the treasury? Or is corruption a legitimate business now?

You and Bidam are paid workers like most. I'm yet to hear of your exploits beyond NL so I don't take you as an example of a stupendous testimony.

Don't be negative minded
I'm not negative minded my bro. Its a reality that confronts every body. Whether you'll admit it is a different matter anyway.

Gombs: Stop bring tithes of the Law..bring up tithe paid by popsi AB!... Abi was pa AB a jew?

Bros o!... grin
My bro, you're not a tithe beneficiary so I honestly shouldn't have any issue with you. Its only very curious that a leader of a Christian assembly will deprive his members of the blessings associated with the other forms of tithing to God.

I also wonder why the famed benefits of tithing never seem to reflect on the tithers. I'm Sure your man here has testimony of cars, maybe lands, cash gifts through tithe but can you and other church members honestly say you've ever received even a bicycle tire as a direct result of your tithing?

Have you asked why those who preside over collections seem to be the most visible proof of these blessings?
Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings by Candour(m): 6:36am On Dec 02, 2013
Joagbaje: What if you give offerings ?
Joagbaje: Very very part of the law.
Which of the offerings practiced in the old testament do you give today? You scream tithe and your head pastor helps amplify it with the favourite Mal 3:8-11 but do you even obey the 'tithe principle' as you call it? There are at least 4 variants of tithes in the bible, how faithful are you to them or its just the one that favours you and your ogas that concern you?

I can understand the members who pay to you and your partners and believe it works but you know the deceit you invest in this but your conscience is so dead it doesn't bother you.

See one of the tithes that God instituted. Have you ever mentioned it to your folks in church?

Deuteronomy 14:28-29 KJV
At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates: [29] And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.

Or you don't bother because it favours those on the fringes of society and to you, they can as well go and die?

Hello Candour grin

Been a while, hope all is well?

How about Emmanuel Bassey? He's been awfully scarce, do you knw his whereabouts or any reason for his absence?
My broda, I'm very fine. Thanks for asking. I've been around on NL. Maybe you've not been seeing me because we've had no reason to argue lately wink

Also I just left the phone talking with Christemmbassey. He's doing great but said he's been busy with work and family. Even heard his children making noise with him in the background so he too is fine.

Thanks for asking once again

coolmoon500: As we get ready to start the new year, please let us not rob God of Tithe. God is not stupid for giving us that rule. He is a Faithful God.
Pay your Tithe and test if your Heavens would not be open.

there are many defaulters on this principle, its hard, but again takes discipline and focus.

This is God we are talking about here, not man. He is not a Liar, The one who watches over Israel neither sleeps nor slumbers. Try it, remain faithful and see for yourself. grin
My sister, tithe makes nobody rich except those who preside over its collections. There are a lot of tithers I know even on this forum who are jobless and looking for jobs and there are also non tithers who lack one thing or the other. God pours rain both on the just and the unjust according to Jesus Christ.

The carnal mammon worshipping 'christian' boasts about material riches being his just reward for submitting 10% of his income forgetting that a young atheist called Mark Zuckerberg has wealth that put all the assets of all the money chasing G.O's to shame.

Every blessing you claim a tither has can be matched or even bettered by a non tither.

God blesses us not because we pay some insurance or investment fee to an earthly agent. He does it out of love. He even blesses atheist and Hindus so why should his children pay him before he acts?

Give freely to those who need it. That is what Christian love and giving is all about.
FamilyRe: Must You See A Pastor Before Choosing A Life Partner? by Candour(m): 4:29pm On Dec 01, 2013
Christ said 'be ye wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove and Solomon also said 'wisdom is profitable to direct'

Folks should be careful with all these pastor/prophets serving as guides on every aspect of their lives. That's how my relative married an associate pastor against her own better judgement because her mother's pastor and the husband(a prophet), the senior pastor of the guy and some other pastors in some ministries claimed God told them he was the man for her.

10 years on now, the mother has had to settle disputes countless times, cater for their needs atimes, son in law has insulted MIL countless times and has even stopped being a pastor. He's lazy, stubborn, selfish and would rather spend on a new TV than pay school fees for the kids. Now MIL who is a staunch believer in pastors/prophets is saying 'had i known' because even her siblings heap blames on her till today.

Your pastor as an elderly person(an unmarried or freshly married pastor is a no no), your parents, uncles and even bosses(elderly and have your interest at heart) can prayerfully advise but the buck stops at your table because you, not them will live with the guy/babe.

Go to God yourself and he'll speak to you. God speaks to us all, not only pastors.

OLAADEGBU: Strawman's fallacy.
Is that all you have to say? Did you suddenly run out of high sounding English words?

Why did you bring up 'born again' to compare with 'tithe' if you didn't intend employing a straw man?
Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings by Candour(m): 7:58pm On Nov 29, 2013
OLAADEGBU: How much gravity do you place on the words "Born again"? After all, Jesus only mentioned it once? undecided
You actually need help. A lot of it I tell you. Is born again the only nomenclature associated with the new birth?

See the frequency of mention for other terms associated with the new birth

Repent or repentance mentioned 28 times In the gospels and 32 times in the remainder of the new testament by Jesus, John the baptist, apostles.

Salvation mentioned 6 times in the gospels and 37 times in the remainder of the new testament by Jesus, apostles.

Redemption mentioned 11 times in the new testament.

I didn't check for words like 'saved', 'redeem' etc

Now can you give us just one synonym that means 'tithe' so we can verify how much importance Christ attaches to this your cash cow?

How come Christ or the apostles simply refused to be associated with this 'all important' tithe?
Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings by Candour(m): 6:25pm On Nov 29, 2013
OLAADEGBU: Who told you that was a parable? You obviously don't believe that Jesus had words of knowledge otherwise you wouldn't be saying that Jesus was stretching the truth talking about what didn't happen. That we are under grace doesn't mean we don't keep the law that says thou shalt not bear false witness. angry
The way you expressed this indignation, one could be forgiven to think you actually care about Christ or you actually pay attention to the bible if at all you read it. The bible clearly said Jesus told that story as a parable

Luke 18:9 KJV
And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

Jesus Christ mentioned tithes twice in the entire 4 books of the gospel and one of which was a parable. He mentioned giving to the poor countless times and even mentioned it as criteria for judgement(Matt 25:31-46) but crooks in pulpits today scream tithes and scarcely bother about the downtrodden.

Its a clear measure of how little they esteem the words of Christ and how less they actually care about eternity.
Christianity EtcRe: Why Are Some Christians So Judgemental? by Candour(m): 1:57pm On Nov 29, 2013
If we Christians will be sincere, there's actually balance in the word of God that should reflect in our individual lives. The world we live in today abhors absolutes and that is why we have become so compromised that every and anything can be rationalised.

Christian dressing, relationships, eating etc must be done with the knowledge that our lives are open books that the world should read so they can be brought to salvation in Christ.

We have liberty in Christ but its liberty that comes with responsibility to shine as light in a crooked world. Its not liberty to please ourselves whenever, wherever and however we deem fit.

Apostle Paul said 'all things are lawful for me but not all things are expedient'. If we truly seek to please God and not ourselves, I think we should adopt this stance of the great apostle.

Let us always remember that Grace is not license
Christianity EtcRe: God Told Me To Tell You This Or That by Candour(m): 9:04am On Nov 29, 2013
Romans 9:18-23 KJV
Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy , and whom he will he hardeneth. [19] Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? [20] Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it , Why hast thou made me thus? [21] Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? [22] What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: [23] And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

The above scripture always tell me that as Christians, there is something we MUST realise and that is we will NEVER be able to fully comprehend God this side of eternity. We just have to learn to trust that his purposes will turn out right for us. We delude ourselves if we think we can fully decode God and his will or purposes. A song writer said we'll understand better by and by. I think I believe him.

See what Moses told the Israelites by inspiration
Deuteronomy 29:29 KJV
The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

Also
Isaiah 55:9 KJV
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Some things will always remain hidden from us until the regeneration. However, we would do well to remember that God remains God irrespective of our feelings or criteria of judgement.

There are times God will not make sense. He owes us no explanations even at such times.

Christianity EtcRe: Reliable And Unreliable Bibles by Candour(m): 9:59pm On Nov 27, 2013
I use KJV mainly plus other translations like NIV and Amplified when doing personal study but when discussing with people, I stick to KJV for consistency purposes.

The version of bible used is not as important as having a honest disposition when studying or discussing scriptures in my opinion. If integrity is exercised, I don't think any of the popular translations detract from the overall message of the bible, particularly the message of the cross. Love for God which manifests in love for fellow humans will always shine through.

The problem to be addressed is that of motive I think.

Surely, even if you don't believe in God to the extent that you see nothing wrong in selling false hope on the basis of God's name, your conscience should at least trouble you a bit when you see the way your victims wail and scream in prayers in the vain hope that some good will touch their lives after parting with some money that could have been better spent on food, and wasting valuable time going through your programme that could have been used for more up building activities.

Deuteronomy 26 : 14 forbids paying these TITHES to the DEAD, as to DEAD CHURCHES described in Revelation 3 : 1, which refers to these 419 'churches', alias prosperity churches, where PAPAPRENEURS prey on people who REFUSE to study the Bible. The clever OWNERS of such 'churches' are the ones that confiscate all tithes to themselves, claiming to be PRIESTS, LEVITES, and whatever fancy titles they assign to themselves.
Thank God you know the trademark of dead churches and their 419 leaders. All they are after is money and they will rob widows and even dead bodies to get the cash.

They claim to be Levites and priests to appropriate the tithes but reject the part that says Levites and priests shouldn't have other sources of income or properties claiming we are no longer under the law. Thieves and robbers they truly are.

There are no 2 Holy Spirits my brothers. What we have are thousands of greedy men and women who lust after one thing and one thing only: Mammon and they'll do anything to get it including lying using the name of the Holy Spirit. There are no perfect churches anywhere. What we have is a perfect body of Christ and its component parts can be found in virtually all denominations. We must endeavour to always recheck with the bible to verify whatever it is we hear from our pulpits.

A lot of pulpits are occupied by criminals worse than armed robbers. That is why Christ asked us to take heed lest we be deceived.

God bless and enrich you in your honest search for the truth in his word.

Joagbaje: The bible was clear that such giving is such as tithes and offering are brought into the house of God. Where the ministers pray over them
Not true at all. Nothing about bringing tithes and offerings to the house of God to be prayed over. If there's such a scripture, quote it for the world to see.

It's not your place to determine what such giving to God is used for. Except you didn't give it to God.
God already stipulated how tithes, offerings etc are to be utilised in the temple and it amounts to rebellion to concoct another selfish style. Read your bible and you'll find out. Jesus and the apostles explicitly let us into their minds on how collections were to be utilized in the new testament. Mainly for the poor. Its in your Bible.

That scripture is not about the general tithe which is given to God. The general tithe was done every year and it is taken to the place of worship . But this particular one is another tithe which is used for love feast the giver eats it with the poor. It's done every 3 years. It's like God saying . " take 10% of your income to the house of God and take another 10% for charity". That's the simplest way I can explain it.
What you call general tithe is given to the Levites who then bring it to the storehouse of the temple for sharing among their families. They then give 10% of it or tithe of tithes to the priest meaning the priest only got 1% of the tithes of all Israel. God already gave his portion to the Levites and its meant to be eaten by them. This is also in your bible.

Don't worry bro. I doubt I'll have posted anything too different from your posts here so no need for me to duplicate them. Suffice to say that I agree that the gospel that saves us today has more to do with 1Cor 15:1-4 than John 3:16 because of the cross and the aftermath. I also agree with the dispensational study of the word of God for proper understanding as put forward by DrummaBoy

The disagreements I see here are not borne out of deliberate twisting of scripture to deceive and fleece children of God (unlike what obtains on those other threads wink )but rather due to inadequate study and understanding of the bible so no much cause for alarm. By God's grace we all are learning and will keep on learning if the Lord tarries so let me maintain my learning mode wink

God bless us all
