Where in our laws have you heard that a sitting governor was ordered by either a CP or IG to write a statement of defence the police before being allowed to go, by their rights? Where have you heard that the convoy of a sitting governor was stopped just like that on the basis of such information? Do you think that with 250 million in the trunks of cars, any of the occupants would expose themselves to danger, potentially armed robbers?

We must all know that safety is of prime importance in developed nations. Aside from using trucks as a method of transportation for petrol, pipes and trains laden with tankers are other methods.

Drivers are well trained. Trucks, trains and pipes are in very good working conditions. Without insurance you cannot operate.

There are risk factors for truck drivers too. Some of them are weather conditions, poor driving by other road users, poor road conditions, etc. These risk factors are well taken care of in the developed countries and that’s why such incidences are rare.

Above all fire fighting equipment are ever ready to go, in case of such eventualities.

Not all obligations are legal in nature. Some obligations are MORAL and have no legal backing, hence cannot be enforced by law even though they are a duty owed the recipient. These kind of obligations only banks on human civility and that is what is obtainable in a civilised environment, this also differentiates humans from beasts.

When we say restructuring is the only way, folks keep on chasing failed individuals hoping to make orange juice with quail eggs.

Nigeria does not have a problem of individuals, political parties or institutions but the way the whole thing is put together.
You can have the best spare parts but a totally dysfunctional, problematic engine that will give sorrow and pain all its life no matter how much is spent on it if there is no concept, no plan about what is was meant to do, expected performance parameters and basic architecture.

Nigerians generally do not know what they want of this country and how to use the instrument of democracy to get there. How they expect things to just work out of their own accord remains our collective folly since independence. For I do not know of any nation on earth that did not have an 'Aha' moment when the people collectively stopped their toiling, sat in thought for a season and then radically changed the course of their lives.

Not Nigerians.

The problem majorly lies with the political class. Notice how they have systematically and completely infused tribalism and religious bias into the country. Now rather than the substance, Nigerians chase the shadow.

APC plays Nigeria like ping pong, making the people look at Nigeria as revolving only between the North and Southwest. One of their cardinal campaign points in 2015 was restructuring. Did you notice how they used every method in the book to discard it. If you talk about it, they make you look like a fool.

Again corruption has played a major role in all these. As long as they know that they can siphon gold freely away from Zamfara state, oil from the Niger delta and Lake Chad without proper accountability, the rape on our common patrimony will keep blinding them from the issue of restructuring. The citizens too contribute massively to help the politicians. How they ever allow themselves to be bamboozled and given pittances to secure votes, makes a mockery of Nigerian citizens. From the selection of only delegates.. these funny politicians didn't even know when they wrote off their statutory delegates!

They don't even know when they nipped in what made the Yørúbas opt for another candidate other than Yemi Osibanjo, because a VP who has done 2 terms can now only do a one term as president.

This was where Ebele Goodluck Jonathan was seeking for clarification, to know if he is still eligible because, he has done VP that jumped into two terms and a one term President.

PDP has not told their supporters that by the new electoral laws, Atiku Abubakar can only do a one term, haven done 2 terms as VP.

The new law does not permit anyone who has contested for primaries in one party to skip to another for any position in the same election year. So the Mr.Peter Obi coming to PDP or NNPP Kwankwasiya teaming with Peter Obi is gone.

The law does not even permit that any of those that has contested for any position to take up any other in the same year.. so the story of Nyesom Wike or Yahaya Bello, being a VP is off for 2023 cos they can't aspire for president and VP in the same electoral year.

Senate President Ahmed Lawan, Akpabio, etc who have variously contested can not vie for senatorial position or Vice Presidency respectively..

In fact, the scenerio that made Atiku a VP can't happen again, where he won as governor and was later picked by Olusegun Obasanjo.

A beg as you are struggling to get your PVC, struggle to know the rules of the game! Go and read and understand the Electoral Laws.

The smart ones like Peter Obi left PDP before primaries. Akpabio stepped down and did not participate in the primaries. But Lawan went through primaries and failed. So he cannot go back for another post. This time will be very interesting. The judiciary should brace up.

How would the entire 109 senators and 360 house of reps members not have read through the act that they passed. That’s certainly an over exaggeration. Someone sponsored it. For you to sponsor, you must plan, read, understand and must be able to defend it.

What I believe is our law makers make laws and deliberately bypass the laws by themselves. We have good laws in the country, but they are thrown into the dustbin by the very people who should defend them.

However next year would be very interesting with the new act. Many cases would be more easily determined by the courts, especially that of Ahmed Lawan.
