The Russia-Ukraine crisis has presented alot of people with great opportunities to better understand the roles western states like the US, UK and France have played in disrupting peace and development in various parts of the world. And you all conduct vigils, beg, stand on long queues at the US embassy, carry rituals and sacrifices, spend millions of Naira to get American visas where you can go and live better lives, sending US Dollars to friends and family. A lot of you cross the desert and seas in Libya, Morroco, etc, just to get to UK, France, Spain, even Panya and do only boy boy work. Hypocrisy no go kill una before una time. Supporters of China and Russia, yet you condemn them for exporting very inferior goods to your country. Make small shame catch una abeg. |

Neighboring European states have been welcoming them with open arms, giving them food, drugs and shelter. - They will not suffer as the normal refugees - After the unwarranted invasion by your Putin, the Europeans will fix their country and their economy - Your Putin and other co-travelers will be the sore losers in the end. - Meanwhile if you are given the opportunity to go to Ukraine, you will grab it with two hands and abeg untop. - Your Putin and his country in just a few days are seriously feeling the impact of sanctions. kponkedenge: The only clown I see here is you.... Mocking a country that wants to have closer ties with the West, than been paupers to Russia.
Go check all the countries that broke out from the Soviet Union.... They all are running to the West for stronger ties, that alone should tell you how they all see Russia.
Russia recently asked Kazakhstan, a former Soviet Union state to assist in the fight against Ukraine, they refused..... the only country that accepted is Belarus.
You guys obsession with the West is what is making you support Russia, nothing else.
It's only a matter of time before Russia breaks, their Stock Market hasn't opened throughout this week because of massive sanctions..... their citizens currently have withdrawal limit, their oligarchs are flying out to different countries to avoid the economic mess Putin has created.... But it's okay, you can continue supporting him until his downfall.
Rubbish. “ You guys obsession with the West is what is making you support Russia, nothing else”. It’s not an obsession, but lack of knowledge. Most of them here look at the event like a football match. A lot see the issue as a huge joke. This is a historical matter that predates what we know as of this age. It will also go down the history of the two states in many years to come. If these youths here cannot learn lessons and make meaningful contributions, I wonder what historical information they will have over to their next generation. |

JosephXavier: Russia are loosing this war because they don't have any influence in international politics and secondly because they don't control the media
Russia needs to get themselves involved beyond Europe just like China did beyond Asia
China exported their language and culture(through Chinese movies and restaurants)
They exported their technology ( cars and electronic gadgets)
They exported their companies (Tecno, Hawaii and infinix)
They are exporting their intellects who work in other regions of the world and now control Africa in terms of business and Trade
That is the exact thing Russia should do
Export their language, invest in other countries ( I don't mean selling of AK 47 and military hardware to rebels) just as china did
Export their indigenous companies and invest more in IT and technologies
Export their goods more to Africa and Asia and even South America
Set up international media giants to protect their interests and project their voice just as US did with CNN
Open their border to immigrants (especially skilled immigrants) just as Canada is doing Now I found a very reasonable contribution since reading all the contributions on this topic. |

Foreign Affairs › Re: Ruble Worth Less Than One Cent After Biggest Currency Crash In Russian History by Cantonese: 7:10am On Mar 02, 2022 |
Praxis758: I see depression ravaging the Russian state by the time l these sanctions starts manifesting in their economy.
I pity the common citizens who would be helpless by these effects. Putin had carefully planned this invasion. He always saw Ukraine as part of Russia and over time had plotted how to annex Ukrainian lands and the Crimea. He only was waiting for excuses. The denuclearization of Ukraine was a very big advantage otherwise he would not have made the attempt. The denuclearization pact signed by Ukraine demanded protection from what is called the Western powers and the USA. For the USA and the rest of Europe, it was one nation less with nuclear weapons and ultimately a safer USA and Europe. In planning this invasion, Putin tried to stabilize his country and had kept over $650 billion in reserves. That amount among others is the target by the USA and its allies. With the sanctions, the reserves will get depleted. It is thought that he may transfer the reserves into cryptocurrency, which is very risky. Now Russians have issues with their purchasing power which is getting systematically strangled by the crippling sanctions. Notice that the Chinese have taken the peaceful diplomatic path of pacification, knowing that such crippling sanctions could damage their own economy if they ever make such as Purim’s error. The problem with leaders like Putin and Kim Jong-Un of North Korea is that they tend to ignore sanctions and pursue armaments to the detriment of their citizens good living. Some say with Trump, Putin would not have invaded Ukraine. Irrespective of his so called relationship with Putin, it was just a matter of time before the invasion would take place. Putin has the power to level Ukraine is a few days, but he must be ready to fall the aftermath both domestically and internationally. If you take your time to study the Bolshevik revolution of 1917 against the Czarist government in Russia, you’ll find that Russians are capable, if this madness by Putin continues, to rise up against him and have his government overthrown. |

Mooh247: The question is , does Russian citizens depends on Dollar trade like import based economy like Nigeria?! Yes, just like the rest of the world. The US dollar is the international trading currency. It is accepted everywhere you go. Many years ago, in the eighties, the Nigerian naira traded on the streets of Europe at good exchange rates. This same “baba go-slow” between dec 31, 1983 - aug 1985 and IBB by 1986 ruined everything with their bad economic policies. |

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is widely regarded as a National Hero. But he has decided to sacrifice 40 Million People to achieve 'Heroism', which is dumb.
For your information, this is not a Russia-Ukraine War. The war is happening in Ukraine and Zelenskyy has decided to sacrifice Ukraine as the Slaughter Ground.
Nairaland War Mongers should sit up and get the facts before spewing trash for likes.
When next you want to blame Putin, ask yourself if USA would fold her hands and watch another country set up a military base with state-of-the-art equipment in Cuba or Mexico.
Ukraine would never remain the same again and it would take years to build back the structures which are being decimated.
Just pause and think about hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians who woke up one day and abandoned their work, businesses, families and career to flee to neighboring countries where they become refugees.
Did you read very well to understand or you just chose to show that you know absolutely nothing about what’s going on. |

Foreign Affairs › Re: Russian Missile Strikes On Kharkiv Central Freedom Square, Residential District by Cantonese: 7:19pm On Mar 01, 2022 |
Kelvinpam: War Analyst! Weldone. Nobody pushed Russia to wall. Every NATO members volunteered to Join and were vetted through a laid down process.
Secondly, the europe you see today was literally rebuilt by US money after World war II (Marshall Plan).
So in essence, europe is just an extension of the US until they decide they have had enough.
Where was Russia during the rebuilding process? They allowed the break up of soviet Union as there no point spending limited resources on the union when they can spend it on Russia alone.
The US can build a base anywhere they like because they had the money when nobody did.
So bros come up with another reason why a sovereign nation cannot join EU because Russia says so. Once again it’s unfortunate that youths on Nairaland equate the dispute with a football match involving their favorite clubs. Let’s wait and see the aftermath of this invasion on the Russians. Once again I hope that this brings an awakening among the Russians in their country, enough to revolt and cause the fall of Putin, just like they had the Bolshevik revolution of 1917. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Russian Missile Strikes On Kharkiv Central Freedom Square, Residential District by Cantonese: 7:05pm On Mar 01, 2022 |
justifyme: US invaded Cuba in 1960s because Soviet wanted to build military bases in Cuba and brought about the Cuba missile crisis.
Cuba is few miles away from US. So why should NATO and US build a military base in Ukraine which has a long border with Russia? Putin is not stupid. As it stands now NATO and US are unable to launch direct attack on Russia because of the distance.
Putin knows if NATO and US enters Ukraine and establish military base there Russia is finish.
Additionally, NATO and US breached the 1990 treaty which prevents NATO and US from expanding eastwards from the then East Germany.
Today NATO and US are almost everywhere in Europe including Croatia, Poland and other places that are closer to Russia.
Getting closer to Russia means NATO and US missiles can directly hit Russia.
Putin is not stupid.
Putin had been complaining ever since when those expansions began. No one listened.
Let's take a closer look at NATO and US activities recently:
1) Killed Ghadaffi of Libya for no reason. Libya conflict was entirely internal. Libya a once peaceful and prosperous country today lies in ruins with no sober government.
2) Killed Sadaam of Iraqi and destroyed that beautiful country; lying that Iraqi had weapons of mass destruction. No such weapons were found. Today Iraqi lies in ruins with no sober government.
3) Went to Syria and nearly overthrew Asaad had it not being for Russia. Syria lies in ruin but Asaad is in tact while that country is now the platform for terrorists. Syria conflict is/was entirely an internal problem.
4) Went to a peaceful Afghanistan after the Russians left. Today Afghanistan is a total mess.
If NATO and US not checked they will wake up any morning and decide to change a government anywhere anytime in this world.
My fear:
NATO and US has started sending military logistics to Ukraine. This is dangerous. It may lead to the justification by Russia that NATO and US wants to enter Ukraine so that it can launch attacks on Russia. And when this happens China, India, Syria, Iraqi etc and the bad boy N. Korea those staunched allies to Russia will support Russia.
N.Korea in fact has started last Saturday by testing a ballistic missiles.
It's like we are on the eve of a THIRD WORLD WAR.
The WAY out: To me is for NATO and US to respect the treaty they SIGNED not to expand eastwards towards Russia...i.e they withdraw all the way to Germany or better still just stop were they are right now.
You can't be piling war armouries in front of my veranda with the aim of attacking me and you expect me to throw picnic for that. This bitter truth you will not read or see in the western media.#copied Please bros stop this embarrassing and illusionary talk about issues that you do not have their facts. |
