Guy think it through. So u knw the hazard involved in been a mechanic. Do u think all those chemicals such as greases, petrol and soot that comes out of the engine is friendly to the body. There are somethings one can do as a kid. Those mentioning football and tennis, sports are more like recreational activities and aids in brain development. Those that said kids are doing robotics, all those stuff are not done in hazard environment like this one the kid is doing.

Understand the difference. If a kid playing piano and making money out of it is different from when a kid is hawking food items along the road. People will applaud the kid playing piano, but won't be happy with the one hawking food. But both of them are making money. Understand the difference.
Lovely explanation!!!

what makes you think 12 is not too early if you think 6 is also too early?
Do you know what is called formative year?
In uk , you can only enrol a child for apprenticeship at 16.
Children can learn many life skills/values under the care of the parents. Many things are involved to be successful in life not just acquiring skills to be a mechanic.

This is just another way of abusing a child

This child would have been allowed to enjoy with his mates and read his books and also play with his age mates
Absolutely correct. The child is still in his formative year.
He should be exposed to multiple interests at that age. In decades to come , he would realise he did not enjoy his childhood when his mates are sharing their experiences. Childhood is too short to miss!!!!

When reason fails, emotions take over. People berating each other over the child, yet none has come out clearly to say what child abuse really is. Well, it is not child abuse for the kid to have taken up a vocation at 6, but that child is very prone to abuse with that vocation. More specifically, psychological and emotional abuse. Let's be real, we all know how vocation centres in Nigeria are being run. Even adults get abused, not to talk of a kid of 6.

Did I hear some people say the child is going to make it because he's learning a vocation earlyhuh Lol. They must not know what they are talking about. Life is full of twists. That one is an early bloomer does not mean one will be a success in the final analysis. One can be a late bloomer and end up making it. They don't even know the child personally (his IQ and if he is even interested in that particular vocation or he's being forced to learn it) and they are concluding he's going to make it because he's learning something early. Quite hilarious.
May God bless you for this comment!!

It is a privilege if the owner of that business is parent or relative or he is a child prodigy. Otherwise that child will be abused by his oga or seniors. Try to ask those artisans.

How is that child abuse?

If he was doing an internship in a bank, will you call it child abuse?

If he was learning how to play piano or how to swim at that age, will you call it child abuse?
Internship at bank for kids? How is that possible?
Swimming and learning musical instruments along with other school works are part of early childhood education. It is not about career choice.
It is advised that children should be exposed to multiple skills very early in life. Children with extreme talents that are discovered early in life can however be guided in that direction. Child prodigy.
But any child at 12 years old or JS1 should be enrolled in an apprenticeship programme. However , a child can start to learn any trade at age through parents or relatives.

There is nothing no special about the West

America's current economic position is achieved by its military might nothing to do with its innovativeness
By imposing the dollar standard on the world , by ensuring most commodity trades occur in dollars and enforcing the interests of American banks by the use of sanctions and military might the USA has remained in front.

Even Nigeria will overtake the USA in a fair world.

But today Africa produces the most Cocoa and nas no say in the World chocolate industry
America is in Niger, France in Mali Russia in Central African Republic.

That situation will not last for ever.

If the US dollar ceases to be a reserve economy the US will be bankrupted.

That status is imposed on the World by force and the US is printing dollars and passing on the cost to countries like Nigeria.
They are the ones printing money and our currency continues to devalue. Why?
We are forced to keep foreign reserves in dollars

That will not last for ever

America exploits the resources of the world to fund its military. In turn it attempts to use that military and economic sanctions to enforce its will on
China
Venezueala
Russia
Iran
Iraq
Libya
Cuba
Syria
Why do you think US dollar is a major currency for international trade and why you think us is centre of international trade?

6 year is too early. I know how those ogas relate with kids of that age. If he is learning from his parent or relative it may be an exception. Parents can however enrol their children for apprenticeship from JS1 or 12 year old .

I don't know what democracy has done in this country since 1999

See as everywhere old

All the the great things this country has done were done in military era

No democratic government would have been able to construct the 3rd mainland bridge

Most of the federal universities that the military build were constructed by civil engineering companies. Now na bricklayers they build universities

It was the military that had the fore sight to move the capital to Abuja and funded it within a short period of time if it was in Democracy it will be vision 2090

Honestly since the military left Nigeria government have not undertaken any quality infrastructural project in this country

Even when they plan it . Corruption and sharing of money always make Dem deliver substandard
Projects

Corrupt bunch of leaders
Democrazy is bad for multicultural and multireligious society. And military is not idea for 21st century.

Child abuse
Too early
12 year is ok
Under the Nigerian Labour Law, there are two categories of apprentices; first, is the children apprentice between the ages of 12-16 years. This category of children can only be apprenticed to a master by their parents, or in the case of an orphan, by his guardian. The law officer shall appoint a fit and proper person to act on his behalf as guardian. The second category of apprentices comprise of young persons of sixteen years and above. The category of apprentices may lawfully apprentice themselves out to a master. From the provisions of the Labour Act, the minimum age at which a person can enter into apprenticeship is 12 years. This requirement allows for the child to obtain some basic formal education like primary school before entering into a apprenticeship to acquire vocational skills.

Tunde Bakare recently took to his pulpit to give examples of graduates who finished from university but found something doing with their hands - he particularly laid emphasis on the woman who sewed his agbada, bragging on how she graduated from university few years ago but decided to start sewing clothes instead of looking for a job.

He also gave examples of other graduates who sew agbadas for a living of whom he patronizes their business.

In his words:
"The Future does not belong to Job seekers"
"Government cannot keep on employing people, that's not their job"

Do you agree?
He could have said government should stop licensing new universities and existing universities should be converted to vocational training schools.

PENSIONS
Nothing new, they've always been paid. It's not his money, he hasn't done them any favors..

LAUTECH
What makes you think it was his idea. There are 2 governors involved, Oyetola has the better share.

REGULAR PAYMENT OF SALARY
Does he pay salaries 2ce in a month? What you don't know is that GSM believes his best strategy is to keep giving out money, so what would be difficult is paying salaries.

MANAGEMENT OF ENDSARS
Remember he paid a long 100m to renovate a palace but, the victims family 1m. Also, read the topic of this thread, if he had done due diligence, this topic won't surface. He only dashed out money to touts at every road block. More road blocks came up so they can have their own share too.

COVID LOCKDOWN
Only when you do tests thats when you'll know the extent at which the virus had affected and killed people. Since we didn't do tests in Oyo state, we won't know how badly we've been hit by the virus.

FREE EDUCATION POLICY
This is ZERO. Now, schools had PTA teachers which he dissolved with a promise of recruiting them for the state. This is over a year now, no one has been employed. The last exams in the state, most of the schools had their exams written on boards. No chairs, no pieces of chalk, no text books. At the end some schools begged the parents to contribute 500 naira each to be able to print their exams. Inadequate teachers. How's that free education? Now All the pensions and salaries that he regularly pays, these parents must spend to get lesson teachers privately, navigate touts whisky driving etc.

Trust me! Oyo state made a grave mistake
It is just your opinion and you are just a critic.
LAUTECH students, parents, civil servants, market women, teachers, and hospital workers have different opinion . Those issues affect them directly. You belong to none of the above categories.

We focus too much on certificates and credentials while encouraging ourselves to embrace entrepreneurship.

Why should I train to become a chartered accountant just to end up as an entrepreneur?

Why should I go through the stress of passing an accounting exam that is meant to equip me with skills to perform a specialised task, but instead end up producing/selling electric cars, Android apps, liquid soap, small chops, waist beads, human hair and makeup?

Why should I pay annual dues to ICAN or any of these professional bodies, when infact my aim is to own a garment factory or become a fashion designer at least?

What happened to vocational and technical schools? We should be encouraged to attend these institutes If they wanted us to become any of the above.

We have lost focus and we should stop deceiving ourselves. They should just close the Universities and stop awarding BSc.
Haha!!
