Family › Re: My Boyfriend Is On The Verge Of Leaving Me. Help! by CaptainFM1: 12:03am On Aug 17, 2020
Heartheart:
Hi I just needed to bring this here. I am 22 years of age and I am not happy at all. My boy friend and I are in a long distance relationship. Not long perse. He is in lagos while I'm in abeokuta. I served in lagos so that's how we met and we got to spend quality time together.

Now since I've passed out I've been at home. I passed out in June. So it's been June that we saw last and now we're in august. He has been disturbing me to come visit him as it has not been easy staying alone, loneliness and all. I promised to visit him next week which also happened to be my birthday week. I have super strict parents but I still promised I will find my way.

I told them (parents) that I was travelling to visit a friend (girl). I could not tell them it was my boyfriend I was going to see because I knew deep down they wouldn't allow me travel to another city to see a guy. But my parents have blatantly refused that I cannot visit this girl. I had to tell my bf that I was not going to come. He was so sad and angry and he let me know he has wasted a lot of money preparing to surprise me for my birthday. He was so excited to see me and he had made a lot of plans. He told me he was disappointed in me and he doesn't think he can continue a relationship like this. Yes he comes to abeokuta sometimes but he mostly lodges in the hotel. He told me he can't continue lodging in the hotel that if I love him I will make effort. I tried to convince my parents they did not gree. Imagine, I told them I wanted to see a gf that they knew and they refused. What if I had told them he was a guy.

Pls guys how do u advise me to save my relationship, I'm in a tight spot right now and really sad.
Let him come and meet your parent first. No parents would like the bride price of their daughters to be reduced by someone they don't know.

So what will you suggest will work, diplomacy (some folks sees it as a weak tool to settle dispute).

like George Washington said - if you want peace, prepare for war.

It's actually a slang. Kindly look it up in ur dictionary.
It belongs to class of English called colloquialism. I guess you can generally call it slang. You will find it in the dictionary anyway...and it will clearly say it's "informal, derogatory, offensive or sorts. Other examples are: bloke, dude, lad, box, tits etc. There is however a fine line between colloquialisms, slangs and jargons. Will read more on the three.

Thanks once again.

U curve someone by simply snubbing them or turning down their romantic advances.
Thanks buddy, Its actually a good English. I thought it's a slang. We learn everyday.

Thanks

Yes my dear, its very possible. I found out most people that say this have someone somewhere ( mother, father, brother, pastor, Alfa, babalawo, oracle) praying and fasting for them sad
Funny! If you so think like that, All our praying and fasting(hunger strike) for this country would have turned this nation to Dubai. Infact no country on earth should near Nigeria in terms of development.

Our problem is; the Bible and Qoran was handed over to us without the "manuals". So we perished for lack of understanding their contents.

Yes you can be very OK in life without fasting, fasting is a plus in spiritual journey, it's like group of people trekking from ogun to Lagos, one of them went and took tramadol, raw Jin mixed with cocain

On that journey, when they come across hoodlums who wants to snatch their phones, he's likely to challenge them and disagree in tending his phone

If the hoodlums pursued them with guns, the guy on cocain will still run sustaining his strength, others will collapse before him

Fasting is just building your spiritual muscles and strength, fasting gives your prayers strength
This your analogy is not correct at all.
On the contrary, the guy that took Tramadol/cocaine will be hyper and might want to challenge the hoodlums which could consequently got him shot!

In this context, I could say Fasting has come to save others their lives because they remain humble and willingly gave out their phones, wallets etc.

But in all, I realised that so many people think they are fasting whereas they are just starving themselves of food.

He doesn't owe you an explanation. That's life for you. I pray a time won't come when you will need to fast your way out of predicaments.

Stay blessed.
It is not the hunger strike (fasting) that will take you out of those predicaments. Rather you need the food to gather strength and fight your way through those predicaments.

What will take you out of those predicaments is you doing the right things at the right time. Any other thing that is beyond your influence or assistance of others to the point where you require an unexplainable extra-terrestial powers will not be controlled by you eating or not eating.

Nice. It is time to nip the insecurity menace eating us up in the bud.
If you're old enough, you will know the insecurity problem in Kaduna or any part of Nigeria for that matter is beyond brute force. Historically, this is the same approach we've been taking for decades and it's not yielding any result.

Good riddance.

There are better ways to claim ownership of landed property than destroying your government's fence. His bravery is outright foolishness.

Seizing his house would give him hope, but this demolition simply means that he tasted from his own tea.

The poetic justice metted out on him is highly commendable
Does 2 wrongs now make a right?
Should government also behave as a rascal?
Does the house encroach on government land?

Whilst his action is very unacceptable, government action is very unbelievable.
I can't believe government taken that kind of action without proper judicial process.

"This kind of Tit for Tat mentality from government only shows how crude and Raval they are. Thug-life government!

Need Your Prayers On My New Adventure

Hello guys I don't want to bore you with a long epistle, I recently came back from service (nysc) and found my guys those that didn't even go to school buying lands n building for themselves structures especially the ones riding okada. Most of them do have savings of 10k weekly aside other expenses like feeding, rent etc despite having wife/girlfriends n children.

Though I learnt mason work before going to the university but mason work is seasonal especially during the raining season, have been at home for almost 3wiks doing nothing just spending the little savings I had from service.

With that been said I decided to get myself a bike with the remaining money I have pending on when things sterblize (federal/state job or when HV gathered enof Moni for business). If those with family can save 10k weekly, I think I can save 15k weekly since am single and still staying with my parents. I prayed to God for direction Sha but hope my decision isn't bad?

A lil prayer for me won't be bad
Don't engage yourself in unhealthy comparison with your friends. Whilst there may be several ways to getting to one's destination, don't ever rule out the power of knowledge in any sphere you find yourself.

Each time I remember Late Otunba Gaddafi, I always say...."But people have been packing shits before; this man packed it with pride". He made people realise shit business is real business.

With Education you are on a pedestal that can propel you to a height you can never imagine in any field you choose. You just have to activate the power inherently hidden in those knowledge.
