immortalcrown: In this case, the payment is not received. Better put, the recipient cannot access the payment! And after some while of the money hanging in the cloud, gravity drops it back to the payee's account. Ideally, the payee should not have received a transfer successful notice or betterstill, the payee should not be able to complete the transaction. It's all part of the corporate scam strategies used by these companies. Few months ago, I subscribed #20,000 worth of data on my line. The network took the money but would not give data. Why? Because the money is more important to them. If my line is not linked with NIN, it makes reasonable sense that I should also not be able to recharge or subscribed. But, no, they will still collect your money and hope you do the needful from your end. |

Blackrock has been looking towards investing in Africa and this meeting could be the beginning of massive investment in the country. What part of the posting talks about investing? |
Phones › Re: Does This Type Of Failed Transfer Transaction Happen Abroad? by CaptainFM1: 11:08am On Mar 28, 2024 |
immortalcrown: That's the point. The money you sent never went through.
If the recipient's account is credited with the money, the transaction will not fail (bounce back) even if the sender's account is yet to be debited, unless the reversal is manually initiated.
But if the sender's account is debited and the recipient's account is not yet credited, the transaction can bounce back. The transaction probably got through but won't deliver if the recipient account is not updated with NIN. I also did N5000 transfer in the morning to an Opay account, and late in the evening, I got a reversal back. Most people using mobile wallets such as Palmpay and Opay did not link their NIN when they registered and now that it's now a requirement, many have not updated their account with NIN. |

guobe: Yesterday I bought alot of bags of water from a truck road side guy and did a transfer to him which he checked and acknowledged . I drove off with my car only to get an alert that the money bounced back.
I had to make a u turn to meet up with the guy that I bought the water from and told him the money bounced back and we had to go to the nearest POS centre to withdraw cash for the payment.
I gave him my complementary card and left. The water seller guy called me this morning and thanked me for my magnanimity and told me he had another loss yesterday and it would have been catastrophic if he had lost mine too. It still baffles me that in the year 2024 ,transfer transactions are bouncing back and I do wonder if such occurrence happen abroad? That kind of failed transaction can happen anywhere in the world especially when basic transactional and financial breach is concerned. I also did a N5000 transfer to someone yesterday morning, and later in the evening, I got a reversal. I had to request the person to give me a proper bank account no, not any of those microfinance account that uses mobile phone numbers such as Opay, Palmpay et al. When most people opened those mobile wallets account, they did not link their NIN and now that it's a requirement many are not going back to update their account with NIN. That's what I think is the major cause of this transaction failure. |

chopnaira: Only if we had a credit check system. Landlords would be able to properly screen their tenants. It's not that simple. What about tenants that had good credit and financial rating when moving in, and few years down the line lost his job? That's the major down side of credit check system. The best is to have a law for Tenancy case to be decided within 1week in court. That way, both Landlord and Tenants would have a harmonious relationship. |
Properties › Re: Hardship: Rent Defaults Soar As Landlords, Tenants Clash by CaptainFM1: 11:27pm On Mar 25, 2024 |
Omalicious1: Please, kindly explain the increment in rent of a house in which if anything gets spoilt, it's the tenants that repair such thing. Because most landlords are just after getting their rents, even his the roof is leaking, it's the tenant that fixes it. I cannot explain what you are asking of me because I do not see details of the tenancy agreement. However if the Landlord is not willing to fix things in the house, it is also not a must for the tenant to stay in the house. Contrary to the long standing norms, tenants can also issue a quit notice for the Landlord notifying him when and why he would be vacating his property. Again, terms and agreement are not generic but once it's signed, both parties are expected to abide by it. |
Properties › Re: Hardship: Rent Defaults Soar As Landlords, Tenants Clash by CaptainFM1: 10:08pm On Mar 25, 2024 |
Omalicious1: If we really want to be honest with ourselves...why would a landlord just increase the rent of a house that isn't new? Why did government increase the price of fuel that is always there? If you understand how inflation works you will understand that everything is connected. Ideally, every Landlord should give adequate notice to tenants when increasing rent. This will allow for proper planning from both sides. Honestly speaking, Landlord-Tenant cases in court should not be more than a week before judgement is giving. If the court can adopt 1week time frame for tenancy case, Landlords and Tenants won't be having problems regarding rents. |
