There is this poultry farmer that lives in the neighbouring town; has a fairly large poultry farm. I get my own supplies from him, already in frozen bags of course. In instances when I'm nearby, I simply barge in and have couple of live birds prepared, processed and bagged, then I take 'em home to be frozen.

Once I survive these two cases unscathed, I'll never again put a remote address with the hope of speedaf doing door delivery.

Four orders that I've placed after those two were given delivery addresses of location where speedaf's office is situated.

The items have not been shipped yet, but lets see how that strategy works out.

A quick question @ Gazzy88 and @ Unluckrees: were the addresses of remote areas, or per chance they are locations that do not have speedaf office located there?

I sent an item interstate (from Ondo to Kano). They promised 5 working days but Friday (October 1st) was already out of it since I sent it on Thursday (30th). The haulage is based on the weight but because they couldn't immediately confirm the amount for a 15kg item (due to network issues) they said I should drop the item as I would be called on the charges when the item gets to Lagos. I was later called, issued the tracking number and told the amount (6,500) which I will be paying into an account number sent to me.

I logged in to check how far it has gone and was surprised that the recipient has even revived the item today 4th.

I dropped it for shipment on 30th of September. I paid for shipment on 2nd of October and it was shipped on same day. It was delivered to the recipient on 4th, meaning transit was 2 freaking days.

Have you really gotten items bought successfully on banggood without any hassles? Is this negative issue a one of occurrence with your experience on banggood?

I think you should not let speedaf rest. They should avail you a plausible explanation for this and give you assurances that your item will arrive.

Although, it being a mobile phone, coupled with the fact that there are many thieves on the prowl at every stage of logistics in Nigeria, Hmmm.

Sorry Oga nìyí. It's far from having that capability. It's quite good as an MPPT though even for such cheap price. Quite an inexpensive true and effective device.

But no serial communication capability. Even the greater rival "MakeSkyBlue" which has some Bluetooth WiFi communication capability does not talk serial. The wireless function is only limited to monitoring on your phone using a pre-installed app.

Since speedaf handles your item, I don't expect it to be so delayed. Speedaf isn't on strike as I was at their office on Thursday to send an item, but NIPOST is. Except of course if your tracking shows "handled by Speedaf-Nipost" as part of the status in which case the Nipost part is responsible for the delay.

Although concerning the stamp duty, I heard from this thread that the fee is supposed to be a percentage of the cost of the item, I wonder if there's a way to find out the exact percentage, though I don't think it would help much if they plan to overinflate the price since they hold custody of the package and won't release it until their price is paid.

Not so sure though but I think it is around 6.5% of the "quoted" price. Emphasis on "quoted" because some sellers in order to either help your item to be overlooked by customs or to at least have as small duty as possible paid on it will offer to reduce the price they put on the label. If it falls below the 65k range, customs may overlook it. But in instances where the item is one they (customs) are very familiar with as it is with phones and most mobile gadgets, they will ignore the quoted price and use an estimate price to bill you for the duty. In instances where the seller's quoted price is the true value of the item and you feel overcharged by customs, you can fine/request for a review, showing evidences of the true value (maybe from your order page in your AE profile) to back up your request. Although someone once said here that EMS does not have patience to help buyers file for the reviews from customs. Once they slam you with the price from customs like this, dem own ńa one way street.

On two different occasions of my items handled by UPS, sellers have offered to reduce the price quoted on the parcel in order to quash possibility of being charged duty. I wasn't so comfortable indulging such but what I agreed with was more logical, and I believe non-fraudulent - it was that the seller removes the shipping price and quote the exact cost of the item as stated in his store. For instance an item of total price (plus shipping) may go for 100k. The price of the item proper may be 45k with expedited shipping grossing the balance of 55k. So I just ask the seller to put the 45k exact price or maybe around 50k.

It has worked for me in both cases.

Since Speedaf is supposed to do door delivery, I was hoping this whole customs duty thing and the involvement of NIPOST would be avoided altogether, but it seems not to be the case.

I've not had personal experience with speedaf handling an item that requires custom duty, so I therefore can say categorically that this is how it will go. However I can hazard a guess that they will get the item down to the final destination and then ask you to pay the duty upon delivery. They may then forward amount to customs later.

Hello, I have a package that has been showing customs clearing in progress for close to 3 weeks, and it's a phone, and it seems other users here have a similar customs issue, do you think it has anything to do with payment of custom duties? If so, how exactly are we supposed to be contacted to pay the fees?

To be honest, I don't know what to say of these recent issues of "withheld by customs" status that last for weeks even with supposedly small and inconsequential parcels/items. One of my item that is just a smart plug was on "withheld by customs" status for over one week before it was eventually released and terminated in "failed delivery" about 5 days ago. I'm yet to be called by the post office probably because of the strike.

But if I should ask one question. What is the means of shipping of the phone, expedited shipping (DHL, UPS, etc) or the regular shipping (AESS, Singapore, Speedaf etc)?

If it is the former, from my experience you'll likely be contacted by the shipping company to be informed of any pending duty from customs and upon payment of the amount, the shipping of the item will be completed and get delivered to you. For the latter group however, I think it is NIPOST that will inform you at the point of arrival/termination/collection of the item. That is, the item will have arrived at your local NIPOST office and possibly even tagged "delivery failure" (meaning it has arrived) and when you go for collection, you will be informed of the duty on the item. Until you pay the amount, usually at the NIPOST office which makes it vulnerable to fraud of overinflation of the price since they won't show you the invoice from customs, the item will not be released.

But as per the tracking information being stuck at that point for 3 weeks, I want to assume that it is due to the strike by NIPOST (I also got to know of the strike on this thread). It is possible that customs has finished processing your item, but the next update of tracking status, which would be done by NIPOST upon continuation of transit after customs, has not been done because of the strike. This assumption may be further strengthened by the fact that yours isn't an isolated case as you mentioned earlier, but it also affects some other people too.

That being said, the fact that the status showed that your item, which is a phone, was processed by customs is a sure bet that you will pay duty on it. The amount is what you can't tell yet.

Female prisoner reveals police officer allowed her escape after giving him four rounds.

A female Ghanaian prisoner who escaped from a police cell in Nkafoa, Central Region, has narrated how a police officer helped her after giving him four rounds of sex.

27-year-old Theresa Forson confessed after her rearrest. She had earlier been convicted in a theft case and was in police custody at Nkanfoa Police Station awaiting sentencing.

According to her, 36-year-old Lance Corporal Isaac Apomah released her after she gave in to his demand for sex.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Daniel Mensah, while presenting a case against Apomah who made his first appearance before a court on Monday September 27, disclosed that the policeman was the station officer at the Nkanfoa Police Station on September 25, 2021.

He said around midnight, L/Cpl Apomah brought four sachets of ‘Abe Nsuo’ also called “One Show”, to the station and gave the plaintiff, who was at the time, a prisoner on remand at the station, two sachets to drink which she drank.

Around 3am, L/Cpl Apomah while having a conversation with Miss Forson, told her that the detective handling her case was troublesome and that he could let her go scot-free if she would allow him sleep with her.

Miss Forson reportedly agreed to the deal and had sexual intercourse with L/Cpl Apomah, after which he opened up the cells for her to have her bath.

ASP Mensah said; “Apomah then gathered Ms Forson’s items, which were being kept in police custody, including a mobile phone, and put them at the entrance of the police station and signaled her to run away.”

Upon reaching her family house, Forson went to her father-in-law and narrated what transpired. He then took her back to Bakaano Police Station where the incident was reported.

Theresa was rearrested and handed over to the Kotokuraba Police for investigations. Apomahwas charged with rape and aiding the escape of a convict.

He is to appear before the court on October 12, 2021.

Goma Sama'ila, the feared bandit terrorist commander and livestock rustler who was apprehended by the Nigerian military last week, has divulged the names of several other bandits.
The terrorist who was caught on Friday in Kaduna State pledged never to return to kidnapping and cattle rustling.

Sama'ila, who had been in practice for almost 20 years, admitted to abducting a large number of persons with the help of his gang.

The bandit leader also mentioned the names of his gang members as well as the people who had been killed by them.

“My name is Alhaji Goma Sama'ila,” he said. I am a 47-year-old woman. I've been a kidnapping suspect.”

“The first person is Abdul, whose family paid a ransom of two hundred thousand naira (N200, 000), Alhaji Umaru gave us five hundred thousand naira (N500, 000), another person is Alhaji Birau, whose family paid a total sum of three million naira (N3 million), and the third person is Alhaji Ibrahim, who also paid seven hundred thousand naira (N700, 000),” Sama'ila said while (N700, 000).

“All of us are from the north, and we've been pursuing cows. Lawal isah, Awalu, Bature Goma, Gamji, Sule, and others operate along this Ragachucku axis. They kidnapped someone and were paid ten million nairas; they also murdered a woman, according to the information we received.

“Yusuf, Sule, Gomi, Nasiru, Tukur, Banki, and Magaji are among the members of my group who work on the Ragachucku axis. Then there's Musa, Kadi, Oria, Ibrahim, Bala, Rebo, Gaia, Malan, Usama, Babangida, Abubakar, and Sule, to name a few in the Kirama axis. He then joined Babangida, Suleiman, and Sule and left us.”

“I promise this will be the first and only time, and I promise never to touch anything belonging to anyone ever again,” he continued, appealing for forgiveness. I'm begging for pity and forgiveness, and I swear I'll never do something like this again,” he stated.

“Anyone who stands for truth is always with God,” he added when military officers asked whether he would guide them to where other bandits are.
