raybaba97:Mad o! Did they calculate one grain of rice and a drop of oil per household per day for the three months? Savagery! |
Nuel182:Yep. I got that notification about 3 weeks ago. I guess it was because of the worsening naira-dollar exchange occassioned by COVID crisis. It used to be around 2000usd per month, I think. So when things get back to normal post covid, they'll likely up it. GTB no dey wicked like that like some other banks. Even apparently, with this increase in exchange rate, their rate is one of the lowest if not about the lowest. As per your question, if you have more than one GTB account that you can pool for the transaction, you can talk to the seller explaining your limitation. Then he can create/list items in his store that cumulates to your intended amount to spend for that single item. You pay for the respective items to the limits allowed using your different cards. Alternatively, those people in NL (they usually buy gift cards too) that helps buyers pay for items online at some subsidized naira-dollar-yuan exchange rate usually do not have that spending limit problem. They can help you pay as third party while you transfer to them the agreed naira equivalent. The problem with this though is in the event of failure of delivery of item in which you will have to file dispute for refund, the money will be refunded to that third party's account, not yours and well, except you have an angel of God as that that third party guy, you may be in for a long haul getting him to even acknowledge being refunded by AE let alone him paying you back the money. |
Midex88:If your order is yet to arrive at around 20 days left of protection, you can send a message to the seller requesting for extension by 30 days. That way the buyer can't feign ignorance of your message cos he will likely log into his profile within 20 days and see your message. The 30 days request if granted at that point will extend your BP days to around 50 days. Usually failure to get approval for such requests may occur if the message is sent within 3 days of BP expiration. The system alerts you to a pending expiry at around 3 days to expiration and that is when you remember to send out request for extension of buyers protection. But apparently some sellers may not read your message or give the approval until the current protection lapses. Yet some mischievous sellers will not respond with the intention of letting the current BP run out thereby increasing the chances of the buyer losing money. Novice buyers or panicky buyers in such instance may not know/consider that dispute can be filed at expiry to get back their money. Resultantly the seller gets paid for services not rendered. |
deri4luv1:Usually IVF happens. |
fox97:If the final destination is not major towns, you may have to give an extra 10 days after "failed delivery" tracking update. Within that 10 days, it should get to your local post office and you should be called. |
ieemmanuel:No. Verve is only for select transactions, allowed on select platforms and works only within Nigeria. What you need is a MasterCard enabled debit card. |
Nigerian politicians have no shame and lack principles. If you are in a party, you should be seen to identify with the ideals and manifestoes of that party and stand by it irrespective of being in power or opposition. Nigerian politicians are simply "For Food Only". Political adulterers jumping from one party to another. Again, I initially felt that APC was gonna give something better than the years of waste PDP gave Nigerians. But it is becoming increasingly apparent that APC is a terrible party. They've displayed disregard for laws and rule of order, impressed it that they are anti-people, with no tolerance for opposing views and the mother of it all - seems to condone corruption like the PDP did, something the former rode on to victory as Nigerians believed they were gonna fight corruption to its knees. Today, the APC and corruption appear to be s3xual partners. |

essegis:Ha! Shey na panic buying? ![]() E sì bèrù Olórun (you no even pity others) You just carry everything buy like say world wan end. |
essegis:Hehehe. "I shot the sheriff" |
ojtech8291:Interesting. So considering our unreliable grid power here which may be unavailable for days on end, how do your buyers get to enjoy it and balance the working conditions of solar and grid as specified in its use? How many panels and config will be sufficient to do the job? In the strictest of sense, would you say it's better performance than an inverter AC (energy saving wise of course)? |
GeorgeD1:Maybe dem smoke weed wey dey laced with Coronavirus for them to send you that message. Actually, this is a representation of what is to befall these guys sooner or later. By the time municipal electricity use drops such that it's only factories that use the grid, these guys will know the meaning of disappointment. Shebi they are still fleecing and scamming us now, and we are the ones that still beg them to give us light. They have even refused to allocate prepaid to me after almost three years of paying for three units. |
Meanwhile I just took delivery of two orders today one of which was sent Dec 30, 2019 and the other March 13, 2020. Suffice it to say that over a month ago at the expiry of purchase protection I opened dispute for these ones and a couple of other orders and gotten fully refunded for most. I've contacted these two sellers though to arrange re-payment.

jboixxx:D'you mean the spot circled in pink in the attached screenshot?
|
aieromon:That was just temporary internet glitch as at the time I was taking the screenshot. I had attempted sending the message much earlier. |
aieromon:Thanks. I tried this o as you say make I do, but na still the same story. The other available shipping option for the item is Singapore post but I felt it was gonna be a flop like what guys have been experiencing here due to covid.
|
aieromon:It's AE that is blocking "typed addresses" from going thru the messages. Other communications between the seller and I thru the message app went without hitches. It's only typed addresses tha seem to have problems. |
babaegun:Where can you get those thick bus bars in Nigeria? |
babaegun:Apparently someone has a better idea for connection. Edited: I see you've read Niyiomolyunade's deposition. |
essegis:What I saw one guy (Will Prowse) use in a you tube video was 20 watts resistor, if I remember quite well. The resistors you'll have at home will likely be the smaller ones, and I'm not quite sure you can use those. |
Okay, against the nudge not to, I placed an order 3 days ago but decided to choose DHl thinking that it'll be faster and delivery probably less imparted by the covid issue. Seller got back that the address listed on DHL site as remote location and will require me to pay him an extra 45usd to have that covered. Enough addresses for my hand, I decided to drop another one thru the message app. Below is the difficulty I have been experiencing. The message gets bounced and I get "unsent" reply. I have sent a screenshot to the seller but he still insists that I send "typed address". Wetin dey wrong with dem AE with typed addresses thru the messages?!

romoruyi:Thanks. |
romoruyi:Does that imply that AE standard shipping method is more guaranteed than even DHL, UPS et al to deliver items to Nigeria? |
earthrealm:You no lie. The mere fact that you have all that power free from nature is exhilarating. https://www.kitchenarena.in/inverter-refrigerator/ I came across this website that discussed how the inverter appliances work and went ahead to compare inverter frighe offerings from Samsung, LG and one intellisense manufacturer like that. Inverter frigdes are the bomb, your battery bank will not even do any work overnight with an inverter fridge. The website went further to explain that LG even has a still better offering with their use of "linear inverter compressors" which is further energy efficient than Samsung's inverter compressor. I'd have loved to change my search to LG inverter freezer but apparently LG is yet to have an inverter freezer for Nigeria, cos what I saw written boldly on the thermocool I saw today is: "Nigeria's first inverter freezer" |
earthrealm:Thanks for the explanation. earthrealm:I don't think the freezer is frost free cos it's written on it that it keeps things frozen up to 96 hours after power failure. I believe it's the frost that does that. Sadly, the shop I checked, that inverter freezer unit was the last on the shelf and already taken. The price was 320k. The non-inverter one is 300k. I would have gone for it if I didn't see/know that the inverter version exists. The shop was almost empty, covid things precluded restocking. Now I have to start scouting for inverter freezer all over the place ![]() My wattmeter still functions, but I only forgot to take it along. |
So I went shopping today hoping to get a low power consumption freezer, a bigger size actually cos I run a 203L (114 watts) already. I saw a thermocool 260L that has 110 watts on the nameplate. A similar looking one (same product and volume but different colour) has 104w slapped on the nameplate. I saw a double door Thermocool 300L with 130 watts, yet I saw another 300L double door Thermocool inverter with 140 watts on it. That's when I got confused. Two products (the same manufacturer and volume but one is inverter freezer and the other is not. But the inverter has higher watts (140 watts) than the regular one (130 watts). Sadly in all these, I forgot to take the wattmeter along. Biko, what is now inverter about the freezer if the watts is higher than that of the regular? Or am I missing something? Please o, anyone experienced should enlighten me. |
sinaoye:https://www.nairaland.com/1788753/order-frm-usaukchina-dubai-nigeria |
ojtech8291:What's the price tag? |
sinaoye:They know what they are doing. I believe all na scam. Why didn't they allow you to use the coupon with sellers that ship to Nigeria? I won't be surprised if by the time you select the item and chose the option of paying with your card instead, then the "seller does not ship to your country" tab disappears. Nevertheless, if you still wanna use the coupon on the item, you may use the facilities of some guys on NL that operate as Chinese dropshippers for items bought off of AE. But you may have to pay them processing and a token as shipping fees. |
iKingsley:Okay. I don't mind that "DHL pick up" waiting period delay so long as the delay is not extended to transit and delivery periods. You see, I have opened too much dispute (for undelivered items) for comfort within the last 2 weeks that I am hoping not to have to file dispute again anytime soon. The "processing time" for shipping according to AE is 12 days, so I should expect my item shipped within the next 12 days. |
iKingsley:Oh no! How much delay? Cos I just placed an order selecting DHL shipping option and insisting the seller does not change my choice. I had assumed things was gonna get fast with DHL option but slow with the other option being Singapore post. |
