I honestly don't have probs with my wife earning more o........as long as am equally earning something!!

She can earn a gazillion, but with d little I get, I must provide for the house ni.
Bottom line is that a lot depends on the dynamism of the couple.

scholes23: Its would be better for him to leave if not, he'll continue from where he stopped as a first team bench warmer during Mourinho's spell @ chelsea cos there's no way in d world he's gonna bench essien, ramires, lampard or even mata
Loooooolz you guys neva learn.
Isn't it the same mikel that all so called football heads said he wouldn't see a shirt because of ballack, "ESSIEN", lampard, Deco, Robben, makalele, etc etc when he joined them?
The same mikel that has consistently been used by all Chelsea coaches year in and year out without a drop in form?
I can understand when people say he doesn't improve..i can live with that
But you saying he is gonna be BENCHED J̶̲̥̅̊u̶̲̥̅̊S̤̥̈̊τ̲̣̣̥ because essien is coming back?? Haba
We fans are J̶̲̥̅̊u̶̲̥̅̊S̤̥̈̊τ̲̣̣̥ spectators, and are more drawn to flashy players or goals, but believe me when I say that there is something mikel brings to a team that all chelsea coaches have not been able to ignore, and fans probably don't understand. J̶̲̥̅̊u̶̲̥̅̊S̤̥̈̊τ̲̣̣̥ the
Same way that garba lawal brought something to the nigerian team that fans could not get.
Mikel isn't going anywhere, cos he plays according to coaches instruction (something mourhino loves)....compared to a Luis that does what he feels like on the pitch (somethings fans may love, but Mou hates)

Who would you expect to observe a higher level of decorum:- The presidential spokesman or an mtn customer care service agent?[/quote]Hey bro, you need to chillax a bit. I have been reading ur comments thus far, and even though you have a point, you have been making a fundamental error.
What you are expecting of abati would only be effective in a more civilized political climate...and NOT in NIGERIAn politics.
The problem isn't the player...the problem is the game!!
The response from abati u crave for only works in an ideal political society, not the jungle we have here in nigeria where politicians have no ethics (both govt and opposition), and no ideology.
Abati has always been a very composed individual. If he has changed, it is because he has needed to adapt to the rubbish political bruhaha we call nigerian politics.

Can any opposition in the american or british political system steep as low as calling obama a drunken fisherman??
Answering that question will tell you that nigeria is J̶̲̥̅̊u̶̲̥̅̊S̤̥̈̊τ̲̣̣̥ plane different

PoliticsRe: Ribadu - Nigeria’s Sinking Ship And The Way Forward by chessguru1(m):
Honestly feel he made a lot of sense.
In defense to all my optically challenged friends above, its actually a bit harder to read off a screen than to read from a book, and nairaland fonts don't exactly help matters.
But in2 things caught my attention and he was right in both counts.
The fact that the average nigerian feels more patriotic to his tribe compared to his sense of pride for is country.
Also love the part where we d masses expect politicians to "drop something" before we vote for them and still open our mouths and complain latter.
A typical example is uduaghan of delta state. People say he he eating government money, but I say he is recouping his investment.
One can only wonder how many million he sprayed through out all d villages in delta when campaigning.
In summary....he is J̶̲̥̅̊u̶̲̥̅̊S̤̥̈̊τ̲̣̣̥ saying that we should shove our arses of our laptops and iphones and do something about the nation we are complaining so much about.
We should stop a "them" against "us" mentality as this will most definitely lead to "them" wining
Stop all from of selfish and self interest groups and notion that don't have the interest of nigeria..I.e J̶̲̥̅̊u̶̲̥̅̊S̤̥̈̊τ̲̣̣̥ the same way than when the super eagles win, that "NIGERIAN" pride supersedes any other form of tribal or regional feeling, so also we should carry that pride in all we do. Etc etc etc
AgricultureRe: Groundnut Pyramids In Kano In The 1960's by chessguru1(m): 12:59pm On Jun 11, 2013
Mr Aboki: I doubt you understood the post you quoted at all..
The poster wasn't saying build hospitals and houses with groundnut sacks, he was simply saying those sacks cold have been sold and the profit used to build structures and fund projects such as hospitals etc. one pyramid could have fetched enough money to build a hospital or a market or something. I believe that's what the op was driving at. I don't think his post was literal in its translation.
I believe you give him too much credit. If that's exactly what he meant, believe me I would have known (am rather good in reading in between lines)
This is his statement
redsun: All those structures could have easily be transform into monuments, buildings and metal structures that show cases human ingenuities in creating and making marks.
If only nigeria was a country.
The bolded doesn't refer to building hospitals or markets as there is nothing ingenious about that. What redsun was talking about was more in the line of monuments that showcase human endeavor and aesthetic appeal. He was thinking more in the line of tourist attraction than converting the funds from groundnut sales to build amenities.
Thereby making is post a highly ehhh ridiculous one because as far as a business man is concerned, those sacks of groundnuts could have well have been stacked in the shape of a triangle, circle, or square. As long as it served the function it was meant to serve.
Finally, op presented this thread as a means to delineate exactly how bad our agricultural sector has fallen.
This is in effect a fallacy because it brings about an illogical conclusion from a faulty premise.
The premise is faulty because it has been proven by a bright dude above who clearly showed nigeria is still d 4th largest exporter of groundnut.
Meaning that d disappearance of the pyramids could have been due to other things like
Producers preferring to store gnuts in silos or in warehouses or etc.
Nigeria may not be producing at her optimum in agriculture, but that shouldn't be even our main source of worry....the fact that our manufacturing sector is virtually dead is what we should be creating threads for

shevon: Had a similar experience like Raiyo's. There was a day I had an appointment with my Optician in Aguda; immediately after the session, I left and went straight to the bus stop. As I was waiting for a cab, a team of policemen in a commercial bus stopped and asked me to explain what I was doing at the bus stop by past 11am in the morning, I told them I was just coming from a doctor's appointment. They insisted on searching the content of the cellophane bag with me (which contained some drugs and my glasses) and I obliged. They also said they had to check the content of my phone (despite showing them my ID) but I refused; by then people have starting gathering, including my Doctor, which was what actually gave me the courage to resist them carrying out the obnoxious act. If not, I sure say I for reach station or at least they'd drag me into their bus just for standing at the bus stop.
Tactless bunch of nitwits.
I finally understand why most people don't give a hoot if 100 police men are massacred by militants.
Really sad

You DO realise you cannot gauge its operations from your local beer parlour?

Excerpts:

Three Nigerian refineries producing beyond 60% capacities

May 3, 2013

The management of the state-run Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has said that the production of premium motor spirit (PMS) at three of its refineries has reached a combined level of 10.23 million litres per day ie over 60% of installed capacities.

An NNPC statement on Thursday in Abuja quoted the Group Executive Director of Refining and Petrochemicals, Anthony Ogbuigwe, as saying the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company was currently running at 65%; Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company at 63%; and Port Harcourt Refining and Petrochemical Company at 66% of installed capacities.

According to Ogbuigwe, the refineries are currently producing 5.53 million litres of dual purpose kerosene daily and 8.016 million litres of automotive gas oil or diesel daily.

“I can tell you with every sense of responsibility that contrary to the news making the round, all our refineries are doing very well. The major components and various units of Fluid Catalytic Cracking Units, Crude Distillation Unit and Vacuum Distillation Unit of all the refineries are working well. In fact, these refineries have been running consistently for over three months now,” he said.

FYI, iyanya's vocals is 120% better than that of so many "super stars" (e.g dbanj).
When he tried to compose songs that had meaningful lyrics, we nigerians refused to buy....now he has adapted and is making his money by singing d kind of songs he is singing now...J̶̲̥̅̊u̶̲̥̅̊S̤̥̈̊τ̲̣̣̥ goes to show you how warped music consumers are in dis country.

Brilliance9000: After reading the comments on this thread, I must say we NEED ANOTHER ABACHA, particularly, to deal with or if I may borrow Abacha's word "dissolve" some of Nairalanders. Most of you are the most ignorant piece of sh$it I have seen in my life. The saddest thing is when you look up their profiles, these are men in their 30s, 40s and 50s. Meaning, they have no absolute clue of why Abacha was killed after all these years and never care to research. Yes he dissolved some individuals, what leader hasn't?

Democracy is not for every country. Some countries need dictatorship to manage its stubborn citizenry. Typical example is Nigeria where 90% of its citizenry are psychologically mad. This has been proven by Psychologists and psychiatrists.
Didn't want to comment on this funny thread till I saw ur comment.
And you are soooooo right.
The mistake people make is to think democracy is for every country. My belief is that some countries are J̶̲̥̅̊u̶̲̥̅̊S̤̥̈̊τ̲̣̣̥ too ehh......MAD to practice it.
Give them freedom of speech and they call u a weak leader and make cartoons of you.
I honestly think a military or communism govt would be best for d set of animals we have wearing suit and ties on the streets of nigeria.
A place like warri where if they haven't seen a soldier with GUN, they cannot behave themselves. English and reason don't work. The only thing we heed to is FORCE. Its a shame
