During the Nigerian civil war, my father told me the story of some people (Biafrans) who preyed on starving families. They usually convince their young daughters of their relatives to come and work at the refugee camps, but instead they tie up these teenage girls and deliver them to the camps of Nigerian army troops as sex slaves. They are then paid off with cigarettes or hot drinks for their treachery! These type of people do not have any qualms to sell off their people who are in distress to the enemy for the smallest benefit whatsoever.

Mbaka is one of such types of characters with treacherous personalities to prey on any disadvantaged person for the smallest personal benefit. Even becoming a priest has not changed his core extremely self-centered personality. They look for how to exploit and benefit from any situation even if it's morally inappropriate.

Very similar to those Africans that sold other blacks into slavery. Then declare year of return, so they can benefit from their wealth!

Yet, these fire Never ravage cattle markets even when they are always making suya with charcoal there!

Kano States Population is: 16 million (Estimate)
Anambra States Population is: 8 million (Estimate)

Kano State Per Capita Income: $1,750
Anambra State Per Capita Income: $2,750

Note: Those statistics are for the year 2016.

In 2010:

Kano GDP (PPP): $12 billion
Anambra GDP (PPP): $6 billion

Kano State Population: 9.4 million
Anambra State Population: 4.1 million

Kano State Per Capita: $1,276
Anambra State Per Capita: $1,463

In the past 6 years, Anambra's wealth has doubled (98%), whereas Kano's has increased by 37%. So we can see that Anambra is developing much faster. At 3 times the rate.
You already know that Nigerian voodoo statisticians will change the numbers next year to continue deceiving themselves. grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Kano's population is also a fluke. When Kano and Jigawa which used to be one state and were less populous than Lagos, but today are way more populated than Lagos! Even with the massive immigration to Lagos from all parts of West Africa!

If Nigeria were USA, the official population would be about 500 million people because they will allocate 10 million as the population figure of every state in Mojave desert to match dense populated states in forested areas.

They are borrowing $30 billion dollars in your name and will use the money to largely develop their area, then tax your businesses to payback the loan.

What is of utmost importance to you people is to worry about who is Igbo and who is Cameroonian??

YOU are contributing to that ''shitholeness'' by your suggestions for primitive open gutters ''side by side'' on every road, or whatever you said.

When will you Nigerian Morons understand that open gutters and roads without sidewalks are PRIMITIVE AND UNACCEPTABLE ANYWHERE ON EARTH?

This is a poor neighbourhood in Kigali, Rwanda:

Do you see any open gutter ''side by side'' on any road there?

Do you see any street without pedestrian sidewalks?

Do you see any sand on the roads?

RWANDA still recovering from genocide and civil war KNOWS how to build roads and streets but Anambra State does not?

What is the point of your education and exposure, including that of your governors, if you still think it is ok to build primitive nonsense with stinking open gutters and no pedestrian access apart from sand and dirt?

TUFIA.
Oga m,

The issue is not that i don't like the underground pipes used for drainage gutters in America to be used in Nigeria. The issue is that we lack the basic technology to make and clean those types of underground drainage pipes system. The concrete drains covered with concrete slabs would have been ideal because to clean them, you simply take off the concrete slabs. Again the issue is that we are too poor as a nation to even provide those basics.

That is why folks like me advocate at the minimum to have side by side gutters as was the barest minimum in the 1950s. We live in the rain forest belt of the world and receive about the highest amount of rainfall than most places on earth. Therefore, it will be criminal to build roads in such an area and our soil texture without providing a channel for flood water when it rains. Yes, i live in the United States and i know what the standards are. Not even the Rwanda you show is up to standard. But, i know if we claim providing concrete slabs over gutters are too expensive, we can at the minimum provide concrete gutters to prevent flooding and early deterioration of the roads.
The same way i understand that pipe-borne water and electricity from the public supply system is the ideal, yet Nigerians are encouraged to dig wells or boreholes instead of drinking contaminated surface water in streams and rivers. Nigeria is a sh*thole where the Federal government will provide nothing nor set up regional water or electricity systems for the country. We are trying to make do to survive with the barest minimum

Apart from the fictitious population figures dished out by Nigeria's federal government, Muslims in government know very well that Nigeria is a majority Christian country.

Indeed, the saving grace for Nigeria is that the Nigerian Christians consider tribe before religion. If for some reason the Christians feel threatened enough and decide to fight the Muslims, even the sultan and his emirate will cease to exist.

Nwanne, we have ABSOLUTELY NO CHOICE than Igbo Unity! Enemies of Ndigbo already know it. That is why they created useless unproductive states to stop us through artificial divisions.

The SE region must unite economically with SS region to build regional infrastructure like railway lines, power projects and industrial clusters.

Now, the SS region will naturally be reluctant initially because they will predictably think the Igbo will benefit from their OIL and Access to the sea. That is why the regional integration must begin within the Southeast region before the Southsouth region are convinced about the advantages.

We must plan and develop regional industrial clusters in around Aguleri (Anambra), Ituku-Ozalla(Enugu) and Obiaku (Abia). We must think about how these areas are connected by high-speed railway to ONNE port and how to develop alternative River Ports at Onitsha, Oguta and Unwana(Ebonyi).

We simply cannot develop until we think holistically. It's logistically impossible to develop as tiny inefficient states we have today.

Can Anambrans in the know help answer this question: what has the Obiano gov't built/done in Nnewi to help improve its livability, ease of doing business and enhance infrastructure....top 5 things they've built/done?
I totally agree with you that Obiano treats Nnewi like a town outside of Anambra state.

Basic things as intra-city roads in the city need to be tarred.

Town planning agencies should go around downtown areas and markets to ensure that no commercial building is extended to reach the gutters. Else the part of the building extended to the gutter should be demolished.

You cannot shriek your responsibility as a government that collects taxes from the area and turn around to blame the crazy landlords building all sorts of illegal extensions to their building.

To begin with, Nnewi deserves a real urban renewal drive whereby all internal roads in the city are resurfaced and tarred with side by side gutters on every road.

One thing that often make Igbos appear backward or primitive is that we fail to do things decently especially how our cities look. Our cities are replete with beautiful houses but the entire place as a whole often seem like a sh*t hole. We must change this mindset so that our people can begin to find our cities as decent places to invest and live.

A city like Nnewi that has a lot of industries and businesses should be made to look decent and appealing for external investors to find the place appealing. Not to leave it always to the indigenes of the place like the rogue military administrators of Anambra state did in the past. We are now in an era where we should build and develop our cities to look decent and stop making excuses about the government ineptitude.

Too much Amamihe is what is stunting Nnewi town. They build their houses on top of roads, built major markets in the middle of the town and they are too miserly with land allocation. All the banks in that town look like bukker joints, no parking space for customers, no space for even their own bullion vans. Nnewi looks so rowdy with motorcycles meandering the narrow paths/roads with its attendant noise pollution, air pollution and disorder. If government is to fix Nnewi, 90% of the buildings must be knocked down and no state can afford to waste such huge amount of money.
I am not from Nnewi, but I hate when idiots like you bring beer palour talk into a forum for enlightened minds.

The same too much amamife is the reason why Federal government will not complete Akanu Ibiam international airport? What is the role of government if it cannot demolish houses built on sewer lines, or roads or indeed punish any crime for that matter? Like the typical Nigerian government that blames the citizens for breaking the law, but takes bribes from offenders and then refuse to implement the law or punish those who break the law? So how would America, Europe or Asia have developed if the government did not implement their laws and punish bad citizens that broke them? A good government is there to implement the law whether it is Nnewi, Abakaliki or Abuja!

I hate intellectually lazy Nigerians who simply categorize people into one lump because they are too lazy to understand that there are different dimensions to human behavior.

CrimeWhen Will Our Laws Punish Domestic Violence Against House Maids? by ChimaAdeoye(op): 5:21pm On Dec 22, 2019
Another gory site of domestic abuse of an 11 year old girl was captured on camera by a good Nigerian.

The maid had mistakenly dropped the baby she was carrying while trying to enter her madam's car. Madam became so infuriated that she grabbed the maid and slammed her on the hard floor. Then went ahead to beat her repeatedly.

She later went home and used cable wires to whip the hell out of the poor girl until neighbors intervened.

My question is WHEN WILL NIGERIAN LAW PROTECT THE CHILDREN OF THE POOR WHO ARE MAIDS IN THESE HOMES?

How can we in all good conscience condone these types of treatment and excessively cruel punishment of these kids called "Maids".

Someone should forward these crimes to the appropriate authorities to ensure justice for the poor girl.

PoliticsRe: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by ChimaAdeoye: 5:04pm On Dec 21, 2019
mktinsight:
Library is for many things not just cursory research on one's phone. Libraries is a symbol of civilisation. The great library of Alexandria was one of the great libraries of Ancient Egypt. The British Library is the largest library in the world. The American public library system provides accessibility to all rich and poor. Indeed more than half of young adults and seniors living in poverty in the United States used public libraries to access the Internet...to “find work, apply to college, secure government benefits, and learn about critical medical treatments”. The NYPL also shares its books to all New York public schools saving them on book purchase expenses. (see: https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidvinjamuri/2013/01/16/why-public-libraries-matter-and-how-they-can-do-more/#1b8ebcb469be)

A library is a foundation of knowledge and a theatre for learning. They are good for children to go to after school to do their homework for example. It is good to use as a place to prepare for exams. They are places good for meetings, book readings or visits of literary folks like Chimamanda Adichie. They have many uses and are not going anywhere yet.

I hope the State government takes its libraries very seriously and provides adequate direction. The Kenneth Dike Library was a good initative of the Peter Obi administration but it requires better furnishing and they need to make the threadbare grounds useful. I suggested that they build a small Arts/Culture gallery in the ground and plant some trees in other parts and put benches and concrete tables. Sometimes one wants to read outside in fresh air or maybe just go take a look at artwork or crafts display. Arts is inspirational and is the essence of life. The Igbos are famous for the Igbo-Ukwu bronzes to the sculptural master Ben Enwonwu to Chinua Achebe and Chimamanda Adichie.

Look at the current dilapidated state of Onitsha Library (Can we not do better?):
Actually the Onitsha Library can be modernized & expanded by putting up a glass wall to replace those railing bars and then putting up windows at strategic intervals on the glass wall. In that way you can have enough light and air entering the library, while you increase space where people can sit and study. Every great doctor in the USA i know from Onitsha read for their JAMB and WAEC in that library. I am sure Peter Obi and Obiano could have used that library when they lived in Onitsha as teenagers. We need to give the same facilities to the new generation.

Also, now that Onitsha has expanded beyond Woliwo, Library buildings should be built in Awada and Nkpo/Ogidi axis. This will help children living in those areas to access library services.

My ONLY regret about Nigeria is that we hate to invest in what matters in creating a good society. It would not cost up to N100 million to budget and build libraries in high population density areas, but we would rather spend the N100 million buying cars for road safety officials and the Nigeria navy. Even when the FG caters for these organizations
