They should withdraw them quickly! It is unacceptable for a southern soldier to die fighting Boko Haram which the northerners have intentionally set up. We shall preserve our boys to fight off the northerners from our land.

I noticed that the most ridiculed posters on nl are Igbo2011 and cap28, and these are the most passionate black brothers on this forum... These brothers don't even care about their ethnic group nor engage in the ethnic chauvinism and bigotry that's the bane of this forum and Nigeria/African continent in general... All they care about is the upliftment of black people and the African continent - yet they still get ridiculed everyday by pseudo-intellectuals, coons, uncle Toms, aunt Tomasinas, spooks, political jobbers etc..

Why can't we cut them slack and listen to the message they have got for us??
To care for Africa or a black man is truly ridiculous!

I just had the most amazing tasting fruit juice from my Cameroonian friend. The fruit juice was made from Icheku fruit!!!

Like seriously, this fruit juice tasted so fresh and sweet!!! It is annoying that our people still import fake flavored sugar drinks and call them fruit juices? Yet, we have something this naturally sweet and refreshing wasting away ? I am glad someone in Cameroon is using this fruit to make big money and even export the juices to America!

But since this fruit is most preponderant in SE Nigeria, why can't our people learn how this fruit is boiled and canned or bottled into fruit juices? Our people know how to bottle fake drinks from Europe, yet this authentic fruit which we can process and make good money from, it is the Cameroonians doing it?

Sorry for posting here, but i hope someone looking for something interesting to produce and package will try out this idea. Thanks.

joan1:
Nigeria’s Senate President, David Mark, on Wednesday condemned the killing of 47 students in a government secondary school in Yobe on Monday.
In a speech, Mr. Mark said Boko Haram has declared war on Nigeria and appealed to the insurgents to refrain from attacking innocent citizens.
“Clearly, Boko Haram has declared war on this country and we must fight with all our efforts. We cannot allow this to continue any longer,” Mr. Mark said.
Mr. Mark sympathized with the people and government of Yobe state and all the school children in Nigeria.
After his speech, the senate observed a moment of silence for the slain students.
Meanwhile, the senate passed a bill titled: An act to establish the National Commission for Conciliation and Arbitration, National Labour Council, the office of the Registrar of Trade Unions etc to administer the provisions of labour laws in Nigeria and other matters connected therewith, 2014, through a second hearing.

Okay, you are finally coming from your dreamland of offering amnesty and throwing a few naira around and the problem will go away?

Oga sorry ooo, the only way to fix this is to defeat Boko Haram, no mateer how much we may need to spend on the military hardware and training to do it.

This has been my main objective from day one, an avenue of reaching the government to tell them how we feel about them, and to load the vehicle with very high content tbat it must not fail to catch their attention. I think someone in authority is reading us here, so we should keep things calm and focused towards a better Enugu state.

Long live Enugu state!
Long live Igboland!
Long live a better Nigeria!
Oga Spyder,
I must commend and thank you immensely for opening this thread and taking the enormous pains to go out and find pictures to stimulate discussion on how the development of Enugu state has continued full steam under His Excellency, Barrister Sullivan Chime.
Apart from helping us to easily share ideas and inform our amiable governor about issues that require his attention, in America, the Igbo meeting in Connecticut and formerly in Alexander,LA have been referring people to this site. Those that are eager to find out the state of things in the former eastern region since the war ended. I am aware that a prominent American journalist that reported the civil war so well had viewed this thread as a guest several times because he once told a Nigerian (Non-Igbo woman) that he had seen wonderful recovery of Igboland posted on this site.So you are right that we need to resist the urge to throw back mud back at derailers, something we would not be proud of if important people are viewing our thread as an unbiased source of up to date information about how things truly are.
Thank you very much again for this great effort and may God bless you as you continue the good work.

Because GEJ is a southerner, an Ijaw, it was a mistake for a citizen of the south-south to rule Nigeria, but not a mistake to allow a northerner to rule the south south?

Nigeria is on its last days bro, You will NEVER rule any place outside your village unless you change your doctrine.

Oguta is a town on the east bank of Oguta Lake in Imo State of southeastern Nigeria. Enjoy the pictures
Just why i God's name do we let such pristine natural beauty of Oguta waste away?
Many countries reaping billions from tourism don't have as much natural beauty! So many people will pay anything to spend their holidays there.

But where are the hotels? Rochas is building 5 star hotel in Okigwe, while Oguta where it makes sense has the old , outdated Oguta Lake hotel!
What about water sports facilities like speed boats and cycling boats being made available for the resort guests to pedal a little on their plastic boats and enjoy the scenery? Even the road from Owerri to the Oguta resort is still being fixed. Nigeria is truly moni-miss-road!

Politics › Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by ChimaAdeoye:
I saw this program on the DG of NTDC.
I was glad that someone was finally thinking about developing our tourist sites and how to safely bring in tourists to Nigeria.
This is an area the Enugu state government should facilitate in collaboration with the Ethiopian airlines, SE hotel proprietors and transporters in the region. Other SE governors need to come on board too.
The first step in helping world tourists to see our festivals and tourist sites have been possible with the direct international flights into the Akanu Ibiam International airport from many African cities and world cities connecting via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The next step is to develop a Cultural Tourism calendar of major cultural events/ tourist sites of the region, which can be advertised via the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) to invite foreigners willing to experience the events. Other neighboring states in the SE and even Kogi and Benue state can contribute to the calendar if they wish to have tourists visiting their cultural events too.

The genius is to assist a prospective tourist to organize visa, Flight into Enugu, Hotel accommodation and secure air-conditioned local transportation to and fro while in Nigeria for one tour price. All done in one down payment for all these service paid even before they leave their country of origin. This creates peace of mind for the tourist and reduces hassle/ anxiety for a first time tourist to Nigeria.
Therefore, our travel agencies will work with the marketing agencies in the various countries with the assistance of the NTDC to help prospective tourists arrange hotel accommodation and comfortable, reliable transport and security while they are in Nigeria to see these numerous African wonder events and sites. Short stay visas will now be stamped at the airport of entry, which makes the visa hassle less daunting for the tourist.

For example, if someone living in the USA intends to travel to South Africa to see a carnival, you will pay a fixed amount which takes care of your airfare, hotel accommodation in SA and a comfortable transportation to and fro the event. This encourages many tourists to visit South Africa in spite of the high crime rate, knowing their trip, who to pick them up from the airport and where to stay will be taken care of by the tour agencies registered with the government there.

Therefore, Safe and clean Nigerian states as Enugu should work with Ethiopian airline, NTDC and the hotels to make this type of tour a reality for those willing to visit from abroad. Tourism is a goldmine area Nigerians typically ignore chasing the elusive oil wealth.

its not possible that the whole coastline from cross river to delta doesn't have a single spot deep enough for ports .
If you know how the whites create ports out of mere puddles, you will see that even Onitsha river port is more than enough for anything, not to talk of the deep seas in SS..
Just like Onne and Lagos ports were built on tributaries leading to the ocean. If you look at google earth, Calabar port is also on a major tributary of the cross river leading to the ocean. It's only draw back is that Nigerian governments have not equipped the port with cranes to off load big ships.

Most great ports in the USA in Galveston Texas, New Orleans LA, Gulf port-Biloxi, Miami Florida, Wilmington NC,New York , Savannah GA, Boston MA, etc.were all built in major river tributaries leading to the ocean. The sense in doing this is to keep the ports accessible to the ocean, while shielding it from the violent ocean waves.

So that man does not know what he is talking about. He is speaking out of the usual hatred and desire to deprive one part of the country amenities so that another part continues to benefit from their misery.

Sweet Jesus,
let this IDC not be another front by politicians. Anambra has suffered too much from that type of corruption for this to happen again.

All the state capitals created in 1991 with Awka are already way ahead!
Asaba and Dutse in 1991 were forgotten rural towns, while Awka already had a major university campus and was a thriving city. Today, all these other places have blossomed and transformed into beautiful great cities, while Awka has remained largely the same since.

The pictures posted originally by a forum member 'oremi' was copied and reposted by me to buttress his point that Enugu median and roundabouts should have trees and fountains like the pictures he posted. More like me reposting the Intl. conference centers pictures originally posted by Spyder. At no point did I suggest that the Oremi's pictures were from Enugu or that they were mine. You will similarly accuse me of posting pictures of "red soil" in America and Brazil in this page to say they from Enugu.

Page is re-posted here for anyone willing to verify the facts: https://www.nairaland.com/979128/enugu-pride-east/282

Go away with your jealousy and hatred, you have been exposed for what you are. An ignorant jealous brat. Go and gnash your teeth, Enugu will forever be greater than your weird state and people. Now go find a better silly issue to disguise your hatred, your "red soil " smokescreen has failed. grin
Since it pains them so much that with a little bit of flowers /trees in the Enugu road medians it would become such legendary city in spite of every marginalization scheme implemented by Nigeria to under develop it and the SE region in general over the years, I fervently hope someone in Enugu state government circles will truly begin urban renewal / green revolution by planting of trees and flowers along the major roads in Enugu as soon as possible.

Having noted that Enugu IS NOT the only city in the world with red sand, for those still taunting this silly red soil issue as their only reason for hating Enugu,...... Speaking in Oshiomole's voice.....

The Anambra Investment Promotion Agency (ANSIPPA) & Capital development Authority (ACDA) owning its own building are great things.

However, the third leg in that tripod is the Anambra Revenue Authority to coordinate the proper collection of revenue from all sources and remitting to the state account. Without a Revenue house to coordinate all government revenue, people will continue to go around to all sorts of offices at the secretariat to pay taxes in the wrong offices and to the wrong persons, which will simply vanish in transit.
