Christianity EtcRe: Catholic Cardinal Says Adam And Eve Didn’t Exist by Chrisbenogor(m): 11:33am On Aug 13, 2013
Pastor AIO: The only people that I know that are ready to kill you for suggesting that the story of Adam and Eve is a myth are the Pentecostals and Evangelicals. I believe that everybody else understands it for what it is and tries to glean the truth that the story is trying to communicate.

It is the same with the Gospels. Some people will start to attack you if you say that the Gospels are not strictly History. But the fact is that ALL of the gospels, Matthew Mark Luke and John cannot be historically true because they contradict each other. Was Jesus silent when he was carrying the cross or did he speak? He can't have done both at the same time. one gospel has him speaking, another has him silent. What did Jesus say on the cross? What did he say to the thieves on the cross?
Each gospel writer has a theological point that he is trying to make (I shudder to use the word Agenda, lol). If you discard seeking the theological point and merely see it as a recording of history then you must be prepared to dance some complicated backflips and logic suspension. And you will miss great spiritual insights.

It is obvious that the first and second chapters of Genesis are two different myths joined together. It was obvious to those who wrote it. If they were claiming to write history I'm sure they would have made more effort to make the myths into one singe narrative.
I know say I suppose do that interview for you but what you wrote up there has made me see what we miss in terms of wonderful to sights.
Would you mind to expound more on the theological meanings you got from the gospel. As a piece of history it really zucks cheesy

Yo,

You have to share your atm pin and all your financial details.
The chances you would get married to her would be say about 10%.
The worst that can happen is that you would learn first hand how she reacts to money, and how you react with money as well.
In the future you would be able to better handle finances and a woman.
You are young, the money you make while you are in school would be a total of 2.5 million naira (assuming you are in engineering and you started collecting from 100 level) feel free to use it in learning your lesson. grin

truthislight: @Engineer

I have seen better days my friend.

An engineer that lacks creative capability for designing is definitely not what Nigeria Wants.

With her condition she needs radical proactive minds to stimulate the production sector, engineers like you should be in the fore front. but with your type of engineer turned interviewer busy looking for who to ask question in a public forum all the times, it gives me extra reasons to worry for her future.

Please, dont waste it, a mind they say is a terrible thing to waste, especially that of a trained engineer. Use it please, prove me wrong my friend, start answering question for a start, at least you passed your exams to become an engineer.

Have you never wandered why we are here as human ?
Dont be a toy ?
If you had half the critical thinking prowess you have been frothing over you would realize I don't have time for proving anyone or anything wrong boy. I have enough real world issues to deal with.
Why are you asking me too many questions are you now a journalist? grin

Alfa Seltzer: If you are an engineer, you could contribute on the big bang side of the discussion. It is more physics than biology.
grin grin grin grin
Even people wey propound theory are having a hard time proving it, na me you wan give bald head for my young age? grin grin grin

To be brutally honest, I find the big bang very boring. I have tried and tried and tried to sit still and read I never get past a few paragraphs. I think someone here (plat) said its hard for people to go through the detailed science of it all well maybe he is right.
Is it now a crime that I am not an expert in evolutionary biology huh

truthislight: If Engineering comes you will dig up another excuse.

Engineering training is geared toward endowing one with critical thinking skills, but did not seem to have endowed you in particular with it.

Rather, it turned you to a jounalist ironically.

@Deep sight is a lawyer they say, and not a biologist. Go figure out.

Smh.
Ok this is an attempt to drag individuals into this discussion and I would not give you the satisfaction.Being a journalist is not bad after all is it cheesy. I can already see from you that being a self accomplished prophet of doom pastor does not mean one needs to be embellished with any particular critical thinking skills.

When will you acquire knowledge and start passing it out yourself on this forum ? Dont you have the capacity to learn ?

Is reading and passing out knowledge, thinking as in this above your capacity ?

Please, do justice to this issues, are you not a human being ?
grin grin grin grin grin
LOL LOL
Nobody knows everything bros, I am pretty sure there's aspects of life I know that you have no knowledge about and vice versa as well. People read these threads like me without commenting much and it gets confusing hence my clarification questions. I try from time to time to educate myself on the topic currently I am reading the selfish gene by richard dawkins and I always want a balanced view, I want to know when what I read crosses from fact to conjecture, that being said however some of us are really really busy and only have the time to post once in a while.
Biology has never been my strongest suit, theres a phd holder here, if I do not know I would say.
If however you want some schooling in some really cool engineering stuff hola I would be happy to fill your tiny slate with that knowledge........ok am done being nice BACK THE FUXKCK OFF! angry angry

Chief Justice Chris Bangs the gavel

Order guys Order, we have to get to the root of this argument on this thread smiley

Ok First off thanks to those who have taken the time to answer the initial posers (deepsight, plat) I encourage others who are for either side to streamline this argument discussion as much as possible. I would try my best to arrange the concerns of both sides for the other side to answer. Might I also add that I think when questions are posed they should be answered as directly as possible and instead of "if this is that then why is this that" if you know what I mean.

Back to business.......
On the Against Side:
Deep Sight: I agree that growth and adaptation occur, and that the effects of the environment deliver changes to organisms in a logical fashion. For example, humans living in the very hot parts of the world will have darkened skin and tightly curled (burnt) hair, whilst humans living in the very cold parts of the world will have very light skin and straighter hair.
These are small adaptations and changes, and they are only logical and obvious.
The massive and inexplicable leaps however, which the Theory of Evolution shows, are frankly absurd.
As you note, I do not discard the theory wholesale. I say that it is hopelessly insufficient to explain life and consciousness
. In other words, that there is manifestly a bigger factor at play.
Could you specify the areas of the theory that you agree with and those you deem to be massive leaps?
Is the theory of Evolution supposed to explain consciousness?
What do you make of the other sides explanation that the miller-urey experiment to them shows that it is plausible life started like that?
When you say a bigger factor, does this mean that the shortfalls of the theory can be explained by one big factor i.e(God did it)?

@plat can you kindly answer below?

For the Pro Evolution Side:
1. Abiogenesis : This has been a strong point for the other side, the miller-urey experiment as they pointed out was just not good enough to simulate conditions of the earth as it was, are you willing to concede (probably you have) that this experiment was not perfect? Assuming a huge part of this was all wrong by how much does it affect your position.
Christianity EtcRe: Who The Hell Said The Big Bang And Evolution Explain Life??????? by Chrisbenogor(m): 1:46pm On Jul 26, 2013
All,

I enjoy these discussions, it presents a well balanced point of view for anyone who wants to see all sides of the story although if I want to be honest there is a lot of unnecessary banter and jeers in the middle. Sometimes I wish there was someone to moderate discussions to help streamline these discussions because people like me who know nothing of biology and finds it a tad bit confusing at times.

I hope some people would be able to take on my questions in an honest way:

For the Pro Evolution Side:
1. Abiogenesis : This has been a strong point for the other side, the miller-urey experiment as they pointed out was just not good enough to simulate conditions of the earth as it was, are you willing to concede (probably you have) that this experiment was not perfect? Assuming a huge part of this was all wrong by how much does it affect your position.

For the Against Side:

1. What exactly are the points you agree with evolution on (most especially @deepsight) maybe the discussion would be better if you say the things you agreed on and then the things you dispute. Then the real areas of contention can be narrowed down to
- If these are grounds to dismiss the whole theory/fact/whatever evolution is. (i.e if evolution cannot explain the eye for instance then the whole theory should be discarded despite any other evidence out there in favour of the theory)
- If you agree that some parts of it are correct but needs to be redefined or become more inclusive.

safarigirl: his personal opinion indeed, you need to see how SADC supports that baboon even telling biggie to give him (O'neil) a gun

While you're living in lala land, the entire SADC have an inbred hatred for everything West African (Nigerian mostly)....no, it's not his personal opinion, he's airing the views of majority of SADC, he's just the only one stewpid enough to speak out.

Please don't come here and dull our anointing....racism used to be one man's opinion, until it escalated and led to the death of millions...NOTHING is ONE MAN's opinion, it just takes ONE MAN to air the views of many.

The show is against conspiracy and this IS a CONSPIRACY

Nobody is asking YOU to protest, we already have people doing that, West Africans and sensible EA/SADC citizens....just don't come here and drop this rubbish, if you no wan support us, keep your opinion to yourself. There are some things better left unsaid
I am trying to take what you said seriously and not laugh grin grin grin but for real how old are you ? like 7? grin grin
I dont think I would win any argument about anything on this show with you, not because you suddenly start posting intellectually mature stuff but because you already come across like you live your life by your tv set watching big brother all day. Since I have small time to indulge you this morning......

You talk about the whole SADC hating
- Do you realize how small the number of people that watch big brother as compared to the African population? To suddenly extrapolate comments on Facebook and twitter from less than 500 unique individuals in total (am being generous here)to mean a whole region is hating on another region is misguided myopic and very wrong. Any neutral observer who applies your methods would think the whole Nigeria is mad at big brother if all they go by are your facebook posts & protests but obviously y'all are less than 50 unique individuals.

You talk about leaving in lala land - Ok this one got me really cracking up grin grin. You decide O'neal's feelings about west africa is enough to constitute hate -because he says he wants west africans to stop feeling like they are untouchable in the game, or because he does not want to hear Nigerian Music......the list is long but they are all flimsy and he has a right to moan if he wants to but you do not realize that.So lets even concede with you that its Hate speech and its bad for Africa you then take your protest to UTI and DERENLE grin grin grin grin grin grin grin and you are living in realityhuh What happened to Yerima?? grin grin (dear lord I hope she catches this joke too).

You talk about Racism and Escalation - As for the racism part lets not go there, but as for escalation I totally agree with you. People like you twisting what is happening and stoking the flames of hate and racism just because of one confused Mans ranting in a show where he has been locked away from humanity for more than 60 days now. In the scale of things Oneal is not worth this stress and certainly not worth my time to be typing about this if not to try and get some sense into you this morning.Oh and by the way did you call this empty shouting "Anointing" huh huh TB Joshua would be mad yo.

I would not even go into the details of the ramifications of endemol getting itself involved in addressing political issues, whats important for you to know is that you are not half as smart as the people organizing this show neither are you more Nigerian or West African than some of them on the board. If they have not addressed it the way you want its for a very good reason which you might not be able to fully grasp......for no fault of yours obviously.

PS: I would not be responding to any reply of this from you, my initial post was not directed at you.

If Big Brother gives any of you bunch protesting any ear self then he is jobless.
First of all they have made it clear that these are the views of the housemates and not of their country or community.
Secondly Oneal is giving his personal opinion, if he does not like west Africa then so what? How is that gonna make Botswana relevant? You guys should stop wasting your energy and time to fight someone's personal opinion.
He is intimidated then that's his cup of tea, maybe it's a personal vendetta which I think should be laughed at if I was there and I got a whiff I might also grow a personal opinion of how Botswana had got mostly cows to show Africa and how my village can successfully raid their whole country grin grin

Relax guys stop giving that frog eyed confused man relevance.

safarigirl: So Elikem, Annabel and Cleo are up. Doesn't matter who Bimp replaces Cleo with, it's the end of the road for Anna and Eli. Na Elikem kill himself with mouth, if say he nominate O'neil now tori for different. Best noms today were Mel, Bev and Angelo. So Bev lives to die another day, lol Bimp abeg no put Dillish
I doubt that, if elikem get West Africa (SL,NG,GH) and his new nwa baby gets Zim for him thats 4 country votes then its gonna be hard, I do not see SL voting for Annabel and Cleo over Elikem.
TV/MoviesRe: Big Brother Africa "The Chase" Official Thread by Chrisbenogor(m): 10:03am On Jul 22, 2013
With 8 people up, chances are Bimp would either do a Melvin (seeing as he is in the same shoes, melvin swapped hakid who left just like bassey)- which would be very stupid seeing as theres too many people up
or he would replace with Melvin - which would probably eliminate beverly although with angelo not up she could get South Africa's vote.
or replace with SULUPIZO!- this is his best bet
or replace with dillish - this is his most likely route, I doubt he would replace with angelo

THE AMAKA: You're right. We assumed our vote would go to Elikem/Bimp/Dillish as its healthy to assume so, but it didn't. Oh well. We do our best to strategize what would be best for our reps in the long run, that's all.
Oh well, the more Oneza, Sulu etc continue hating, they only increase our chances. But at the end of the day, Africa will vote who they like. We just wanna make it easier to where we have the upper hand.
I think all the assumptions should stop, the thread comes alive with updates and things happening on friday after swaps. Immediately after nominations today, all we would see from monday till thursday is Naija votes this and SADC votes that. Its a waste of time and breath internet ink, there is a huge load of people voting that are not on these forums. I just realized my neighbour's wife is a die hard fan of bassey and she was sad he left. I did not even know she watched the show at all self, there's no grand plan biko even Nairaland cannot sway Nigeria's votes.

Your eye still dey shine shebi, go sleep o grin grin grin
TV/MoviesRe: Big Brother Africa "The Chase" Official Thread by Chrisbenogor(m): 7:10am On Jul 22, 2013
At some point you guys would stop this talk of this country is angry about who was voted for or not. Time and time again I have told you guys that no voting group holds a monopoly of the votes all this talk of I told you and we saved you and we did not save you is utter rubbish. There are so many people who do not use twitter and neither are they on Nairaland that vote, the noise here of people voting for dillish was loud bassey still won without all this noise.
TV/MoviesRe: Big Brother Africa "The Chase" Official Thread by Chrisbenogor(m): 8:21pm On Jul 21, 2013
There's nothing like rigging or anything like that, when she gets out she would realize how to control her utterances, dissing a while region that saved her was the nail in her coffin.
She did not deserve to leave at this juncture she showed love to Elikem and melvin despite her outbursts.
