The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN said on Friday that 19 of the 36 states of the federation have so far benefitted from the workers’ salary bailout package.

The states that applied for and received various sums from the aid include Kwara, Zamfara, Osun, Niger, Bauchi, Gombe, Abia, Adamawa, Ondo, and Kebbi, the CBN states.

Others include Ekiti, Imo, Ebonyi, Ogun, Plateau, Nassarawa, Sokoto, Edo and Oyo which were granted their packages this week.

CBN spokesperson, Ibrahim Mu’azu, said the bailout, which was in line with the recent resolution by the National Economic Council, NEC, was to enable the affected states to pay the backlog of workers’ salary arrears.

The package has a 20-year repayment tenor for all states, except Ogun State, which opted for a 10 year tenor.

IGR doesn't determine how wealthy states are,

Anambra with low IGR is far better than all western states except no man's land

Nnewi economy covers what ever is happening in Ebonyi, but Ebonyi IGR figure is more than Anambra in 2014, same Ebonyi and other states with fabricated high IGR figures were all bailed out by FG, and Anambra with low IGR didn't request for bailout

Did u just say IGR don't determine the wealth of a state, okay what economic indices will you use to judge the wealth of a state? because I do know that the stats of states GDP are not well documented in Nigeria.

If ebonyi state generates more IGR than anambra it means for that year it did better than anambra not that its richer. Its the state reserves that tell how much power the state has in its purse, GDP figure would also tell us a lot but since we don't have that states we make use of these two readily available ones.


Anambra didn't ask for bail out fund and u think its because the state is wealthy in natural resources or because most of their indigenes are enterprenuers? Do u even read news stall or u just login to argue?

Dude most Nigerian state cannot survive without FGs presence, without stable electricity or good roads and security or even higher taxation, it will take yeaaaaarss for most states to generate revenue that will make them self sufficient

in about 36states only about 4 or 5 can be self sufficient from their IGR alone, the rest states without GOVT allocation will wallow in abject poverty without laid down structures or increased taxing

The main reason why banks took over is simply because the major shareholder who are based in the middle east pulled out of the deal days ago, that alone was a red flag!!!

Its a gamble that can either make or break them.
If there happens to be a default from any of the lenders who borrowed from the banks, and the naira depreciates at time of payout, it means grave risk to the bank.
Also, i believe most muticoys in Nigeria should be able to access foreign loans at a way lower rate, so why subscribe to the bank lending terms which I know would be shooting at say 15%?
