Antoeni:Wow! Desperate and dubious attached so close to the name Igbo. You must be scared of something from ndi Igbo that you feel very comfortable with Boko haram and ISWAP. Good luck in your affair, we all say it as we feel in our minds. |
mezarddinny:If you are Christian, go back to the book of Genesis and read about Abraham, you will know why some men are unyielding in matters as this. If I were in his shoes, I will have a very big problem with my wife to be if she ever bring up the idea of sourcing for money from her father in the first place and I will never honour any invite from her parents on that topic. We are different, you don't have to call the man in question a fool. Otherwise, I might just call you a fool too for being too weak in the name of "worldly wisdom". |
blessedvisky:It's either you don't understand the concept of having a house in your village or you know it and refuse to mention it in your long overdue comment. For the benefit of those who want to learn, let me correct you. Firstly, ndi Igbo for instance have what they call "aku ruo uno" your wealth should get home, let your village home feel the benefit of your accumulations. This accumulated wealth can come from things as low as ordinary house to your name, scholarships to your kinsmen, renovation of dilapidated community buildings to things as obvious as industries (jobs). Also, you are supposed to have a house to your name because you are either a family man or an aspiring family man, if you don't go home alive, you will go in death; whose house will you be kept to be washed and embalmed if everyone refuses to build house for fear of the "village people"? On whose land will you be buried provided that carcass are not buried on open spaces (except in towns with cemetery)? Take a cue from the life of an Igbo man in Lagos for instance, little misunderstanding the Yorubas will remind them that Lagos is not a no-man's-land, don't you think that a typical human should imagine that one day these talks will grow to physical attack, like it happens in places like Kano, Kaduna, Maiduguri (insecurity) etc. If similar thing happens in Lagos and they run back home, whose home will they live in? Why do you think many Nigerians in South Africa refused to come back after the free ride by Air Peace? Because they have nothing to show yet (house) and it's a shame to a typical onye Igbo. Now, back to the topic. The said man was wrong with his approach; he has been away for 11 good years, only to come back and begin to erect a building? Who does that! Firstly, he was supposed to enter quietly if he wants to monitor his building personally, stay low for a while, travel and return frequently then start your building (of course, while you are doing this, you are relating with people; the young, old and teenagers, they know who is who). Or, he can liaise with a trusted kinsman who is based at home to do the monitoring and spending. Two years ago, my cousin based in Johannesburg inaugurated his five bedroom flat in the village, funny he didn't see the building process, he didn't even attend his own house opening but we all danced and ate and drank, he doesn't want to have anything to do with Nigeria but for his parents and siblings based here. There are processes things are done, you just have to obey those unwritten processes. As for me, I won't lay a foundation in Lagos if I haven't had a building at least window level in Enugu, call it anything you want to, it is my decision. |
Dareal90s:It is well, you will soon leave to your own house. Ndi Igbo are not your problem, good luck. |

Dareal90s:This statement is not complete, say "leave their abode to hustle in Lagos, buy our lands and houses and rent it back to us and others." |

Sunofgod:Please, delete this comment. You can only try to be as educated as Arthur Eze. |
Ivebeenbanned:Young lady, look for something else and argue, you are making this thread boring. Somebody explained something to you, you left part of it and picked a few to ask irrelevant question again, are you this less busy? |
nextdoor84:You don't know what you are saying. So they don't speak Hausa (for trading) in Lokoja, Markudi, Otukpo and Zaki biam? Do I seem like a fish in a well to you? Misinform kee you there. |
Let us make a little analysis: NORTHEAST Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, Jigawa and Borno; you see these states, they all speak Hausa as means of communication except Adamawa where Fulatanci is the major means of communication. Yet, none of the people from these states are majorly Hausas, they all have their indigenous tribes. NORTH CENTRAL Nasarawa, Abuja, Kogi, Benue, Plateau; this set all use Hausa as major means of communication and trade but they all have their indigenous languages other than Hausa. NORTHWEST Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi; All speak Hausa and other minor tribes as means of communication but only Kano and Sokoto have Hausa as native speakers. What does this mean? Hausa speaking is majorly for communication and that communication is hinged on trade and not because there is anything attractive from them (unlike it is in migrating to Europe, no offense intended). Hausas have never had any intent on power, they are just easy going, easy-to-be-manipulated set of people, they mind their trade and have no eye for luxury, they do not live for tomorrow, the moment is enough. They were basically pagans and irreligious, then the Fulani took advantage of them, conquered them, then used them as bait to infiltrate the South. I have come across a lot of them, from Taraba to Adamawa, to Maiduguri (when it was still trade hub of NE), Nasarawa to Abuja, Jigawa and Gombe just once and twice respectively. I miss the North mehn. |

Victims of circumstance. This is what I pray against every morning, I mean you have no power, control nor influence over circumstance, you are neither part of the situation yet you cannot escape it. Imagine all the victims; their plans for future, people whom are dependent on them, researches that they could have given answers to, all stopped for a single military mistake. God save His people. |
Unless you are suffering depression, you will find this joke funny and it shows Putin's high sense of humour. Nevertheless, it only reveals how highly placed Trump is in their minds. I love Trump as president, as actor, as business tycoon and as controversial human. |
How is this a surprise, are people not naked on instagram? Ask me for handles and I will tell you. |
To understand this story well, imagine yourself confined in one place for two months and two weeks because of what you are unaware of, imagine yourself bound in a room and incommunicado with anyone except those interrogating you, imagine what you can achieve, change, influence, go through, overcome and undergo in two months plus. Then, imagine that letting you go only depends on the availability of another individual with all features as you have, a fellow breathing without a knowledge of when he or she would cease to breath, only then you will know that apart from the intimidation, there is humiliation, violation, dehumanization and many negative "tions" attached to this, then you will also know that even with money you can get into trouble. God deliver us from temptation. |
With my dirty CV, I got a dirty job. ![]() |
Anambralstson:This is the only reason I will applaud the over hyped project |
Maybe it's just Nairaland that was just promoting Oshoala for free hence, the hype. But from the voting, that Malawian girl will be good. Nevertheless, think home first no matter what, especially if the home has at least something to bring to the table. |
munex007:You are the first fool whose words will come to pass. |
I envy them but I know that in 60 years to come, we will say same and more about Nigeria. Like for Nigeria, Share for Israel. |
It's a corrupt world but these pieces of shit cannot sell. |
It is mostly for research in the South Eastern states as those guys are very intent with researches in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Consider that there are FUTO in Imo, UNN in Enugu and UNIZIK in Anambra. So you see? ![]() |

I don't know sha, but how can I ever think that entering a lady's jerusalem can repay for my expenses via money and time? In fact, I actually see it as a favour on her side to even get to see and hold my ihea. Ndi uwa mmebi. |
milemimi93:Even when your eyes are closed, you still can see clearly. What you wrote above is exactly what I'm enjoying this 2020. The relationship officially kicked 1st January, I'm done with kids. |
