Great and love that your arrangement works for you. To be clear, I’m not in support of women keeping their money for their own exclusive use and have the man be the financial horse. I hope you didn’t misunderstand me. I just find it perplexing when certain men want a 100% “traditional” marriage but scoff at the idea of being sole providers. franchasofficia: My sister not entirely true. I can swear with my life, ever since i married my wife, she doesn't spend a dime for anything. Any money she spends on family issue i reimburse her cos i told her to tell me whenever she spends money to do anything without my knowledge.
It was my desire even while single and God helping me I have been keeping to that. I got her a contract driver to drive her to work and other places when she was pregnant, that's to tell u who I am and the kind of friends I roll with. I have friends in the US who are married to Nurses and I can beat my chest and tell u they don't even care about their wives income as they single handedly built all their properties in Nigeria, except one who married a very amazing babe that voluntarily gives her husband cash to go back to Naija to invest in real estate and all that.
Mind u my wife works and earns well too but I tell u that i fuel her car, she haven't used her dime to buy petrol in her office car for once, I do that with joy cos i prayed to be completely in charge of my marriage and home while single and God answered my prayers. I am a traditional African man oh, I no like woman money at all. No girl can come out to say she spent on me or gave a dime throughout my dating days till I got married.
And my friend I talked about wishes same. In fact he doesn't even like the idea of marrying a financially buoyant lady, he just want cool headed, cute, youthful lady that have ambition. He has tried different class of ladies all seems to be the same; leeches. Maybe once they come in and discover he is financially buoyant the gold digging in them gets activated, I mean even a girl working in one of the big companies someone mentioned on this thread. These things are worrisome especially to well to do guys looking to settle down. During dating fun period it doesn't matter to most guys that have the money, in fact u can even lodge a chick at Transcorp and change hotel to Mariot before the Transcorp room expires lolz, but when it's time to pick a wife, u get serious lolz |

Because guys are gold diggers too. Somehow y’all managed to make it a female trait. But yes men gold dig. very deeply too. Raalsalghul: I wonder why there is so much fuss about career as regards the definition of a quality woman?
For some reason character/attitude is being shoved aside and all I see here is KPMG, Mckinsey, Goldman Sachs, this and that.
Or don't we have young ladies who's got shit going for them and still messing around with married powerful bosses in their office.
Or are you telling me most under 25 ladies with good jobs would make good partners.
With regards to the topic, it has many layers and dimensions we can look at it from but somehow it's all about career and earning power.
Jeez! |

Lol how are we thinking the same thing. They really want young girls but earnestly hate the idea of providing for a partner. That’s why all the disrespectful names exist for women who depend on them Confusion pocohantas: Your guy is 37, then it is Nigerian ladies that should work on themselves and upgrade at an early age? Are you listening to yourself?
How many young men are very established at 30 and below?
I give it to women. They are way more realistic than men. If you want financial security, then a woman knows she has to target older men. If it is looks and Instagram love, then younger guys can come into play.
Of course you would see young women in various organizations earning the standard-6-digit, but we are not going to act like the bulk of Nigerians are that stable.
It is either this or that. Except you go into certain circles that have had it soft from birth. |

If Nigerian men are not making money in their early 20s, why do they expect the women to have money in their early 20s? Are you all not living in the same economy? Talk about delusional. If you want to marry someone 22-25 like OP does, he should be willing to marry a broke person. Don’t call them hungry gold digging bla bla bla. It shows a deep lack of insight and unreasonable expectations. If you want to wait until they have money and are no longer dependent on you, you should be okay with marrying them in their 30s. That’s the same time most of you guys usually make your own money too. I can’t believe that lack of common sense I’m seeing in these so called problems y’all are finding yourselves in. Wanting to eat your cakes and have it too. Ladies who want to marry wealthier men don’t have problems marrying men older than them. Because they understand money doesn’t come all at once. Any lady who wants a youngling inexperienced husband should be okay with his shallow pockets. What’s complicated that you guys don’t understand? franchasofficia: The op is right.
I have a very close friend who is still single and having same issue.
This guy is educated, an Accountant. He heads his company's account department at his young age. Aside being an accountant, he has a flourishing small fintech business with 5 staffs. He lives in what I may call a family mansion alone. He has met hundreds of ladies and none is up to what he desires or what we his close friends consider okay.
He is either meeting hungry, broke opportunists or ladies above 37 with good job though but he want something around 27 to 29.
This guy has tried almost all social media platforms, Facebook, etc still same class of babes.
Right now I de pity him cos it seems his spec of girls aren't in Nigeria again lol
Our Nigerian ladies need to work on themselves and try to upgrade at early age.
The younger ones seems to be immature, unserious and act too foolish. The older ones are more mature, cool headed, financially independent but like the op said, the girlie vibes and beauty is almost gone. The remaining beauty in them is now money induced beauty using beauty products and all those artificial enhancements.
I pity single people of this age, e no easy to find your taste as a well to do young man.
This is where studying abroad at undergraduate stage gives advantage cos it seems the type of chicks op want are all schooling abroad or they schooled abroad and have been taken by their Nigerian course mates and school mates abroad |

Thantayo: So in summary... you value court wedding(which is just paper and signatures) over your potential husband and you are ready to be single again till you get that paper? if the potential husband doesn’t value her enough to commit without keeping one leg out, then she should definitely value that piece of paper more than him. It’s not just a piece of paper |

socialmediaman: His choice of traditional marriage is valid but you can choose not to be a part of it. I think the major problem in your marriage is trust more than anything else. Boys and girls are not smiling these days
PS: Traditional marriages are valid both in Nigeria and abroad. Just get it registered at the local registry for proper documentation if they register it in the local registry, that will make it an official union. They get a marriage certificate from the registry when the process is complete, isn’t it then for all intents and purposes, a “court wedding”? They just didn’t have a ceremony at the registry. |

Fira09: Give some Hints on how you prepared it......I wanna learn. Here you go Chocolate chip cookie recipe Ingredients 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda Pinch of salt salt 1 sticks (12 tablespoons) softened unsalted butter 1.5 cup brown sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Directions preheat to 350 degrees F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Whisk together the flour, baking soda and 1 teaspoon salt in a large bowl. Beat the butter and sugar on medium-high speed in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment (or in a large bowl if you’re using a hand mixer). Beat until light and fluff. Add the eggs, one egg at time, while continuously beating after each addition to mix well. Add in the vanilla and mix well. Reduce the speed to medium, add the flour mixture and mix lightly. Add in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed. Scoop the cookie dough about 2 inches apart onto each of your prepared baking sheets. If you care for a round shape, roll the dough into smooth balls with slightly oiled hands. Otherwise just bake it without rolling. That will give you my amoeba shape cookies Bake until golden but still soft in the center, about 10-13 minutes for chewy cookies and 15-20 minutes for crunchier cookies. Let cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet, and then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely. Enjoy. Adjust measurements to fit your need and family size |

Well said. Applause FreeStuffsNG: Hmmm. This article below is a reminder again. Do not outsource your role as a father.
EKWEREMADU: Between Fatherhood and Ambition
I recall having this conversation with my wife during the week when the case of Sen. Ike Ekweremadu came up and I was completely in an incandescent shock that this man actually has a sick daughter yet has been all over the place attending political meetings for his political ambition instead of taking time out from the highly demanding world of politics to sort out his daughter's pressing health needs.
He was all over the place during the PDP primaries, he lost the PDP gubernatorial primaries for Enugu state then started planning to decamp to APGA, then APC , reportedly taken to APC national Chairman by HE Uzodinma, Imo state Governor, when APC stalwarts in Enugu APC, led by their state APC Chairman, Chief Ugochukwu Agballah, outrightly rejected him.
He eventually lost and , unlike previous election cycles, Senator Ekweremadu is not returning to the Nigerian Senate. He lost on all the political fronts.
Sen. Ike Ekweremadu was all over the place so much that it appeared like he did not follow through on the health and lifestyle choices of his children.
He did not follow through on what I believe is more important than his political ambition; the life of his daughter and a family at the low ebb of the apprehension of losing a child to kidney failure.
Ike Ekeremadu was so consumed by his political ambition that he had no time and seriousness to do due diligence and background check on the character they got him as a donor for his daughter , I doubt if with his PhD, he even had the time to follow through and read up to ask the right questions from the professionals, understand the risks and benefits of why it could be better for one member of his family of six to donate to the daughter instead of a stranger and seek help to find out if there are some of the tests which can be done on the stranger here in Nigeria before bundling a total stranger overseas.
He was so consumed by politics that when the 22-year old donor went rogue and was allegedly scheming behind him to deny his age and report Ike and family to UK police, it probably escaped his detection and intervention soon enough so he can be the first to report to UK police and then return the donor to Nigeria for him to immediately restart the process of getting alternative donor(s) for his ailing daughter whose life was more important to him.
He forgot that he was first a father and husband before becoming a Senator,Deputy Senate President and SSG.
He forgot that he will finish as a father and husband.
I compared Senator Ekweremadu to Joe Biden and I believe that he could have followed the Biden example. Then in 2015 , US Vice President Biden had a dying son and had the opportunity to contest in his party's primaries to emerge against Trump for the US Presidency but Biden stepped down from that race in order to support his dying son.
At a point, Biden was to sell his family house before Barack Obama intervened and offered to pay for the treatment. Biden's boy made his Dad promise him that no matter what happens, Biden must not give up his life long ambition to be US President, Biden's boy, Beau Biden later died. Biden grieved without the guilt of abandoning his son for his political ambition.
In 2021, years after his son had passed on , Biden contested and won. There are many Nigerian politicians (and professionals) who will do like Biden but not like Ike.
Family is so important that we even need the approval of a sick dying one before we place anything above their life
That is the lesson Ike missed and was almost about to lose from both ends as his wife who takes care of the daughter remains in prison until July 7 and now August 4.
Last two Sundays ago was Father's Day , I really truly hope that fathers used that day to reflect and understand the real responsibility of fatherhood. It is the hardest job for a man but it gives the greatest reward if you do your best at it.
As a father , I have realized that it is not possible to outsource that role of a father and not pay heavy fines.
May God heal that Ike Ekweremadu's daughter and may God help the Ike Ekweremadu family in this their difficult time. I know it is a difficult place for them.
May God help all fathers to realise that "your child is your responsibility".
That you pay all the bills and have a devoted and responsible wife/mother of your child won't still make up for your negligence.
Your child is your responsibility and not even your ambition can replace what you will miss if you neglect your role in the life of your child.
This a lesson to all fathers: Do not behave like Senator Ike Ekweremadu who was literally chasing rats around the house when his house was on fire.
May God help us all to succeed and may our children not develop kidney failure. May our labour of love and sacrifice be rewarded in our life time and when we are long gone, Amen. Sunkanmi Vaughan is a Lagos-based Pharmacist and Author.

Family › Re: How Do Americans Raise Their Babies Without Househelps? Unlike Nigerians? by cococandy(f): 12:46am On Jul 07, 2022 |
Right. When family is available, it’s the best. I remember when I had my mom and mother in law respectively come stay and help me with kids. Goes a long way and you trust them more because you know them. But when they are not available, you end up having to do division of labor and also paying nannie’s/babysitters. It’s expensive. Sigh but wetin person wan do? Kobojunkie: I know someone close who is raising three boys all under 10 years of age with no nanny or babysitters to help. She has her own business so she works from home a lot of the times. With summer here and kids all hone, she takes advantage of help afforded by relatives which goes a long way. No one wants to pay for babysitters and childcare serviced all year around. Many of my neighbors are the same way. They all keep most of it within the family and it all seems to work out fine..
Children are responsibilities so nothing easy about that burden which is to be expected of course. |

Aren’t you acting woke by hesitating on child bearing? The decision to have or not have children is wokeism at its finest. If you hate wokeness so much, just reproduce as you’re traditionally and religiously excepted to. It’s one your duties in a traditional non-woke society. Drenimarcus: You have to live in America to really understand what this Senior is talking about. This is not the America we grew up admiring. It has turned toxic and depressing. The woke culture has destroyed this country and what scares me is, it is going to get worse. It is why i am hesitating on child bearing. I want to see what happens in 2024 first because with the way things are going., we may have a civil war soon. |
