[quote author=Gbagura post=107668781 ]Men, if you can't contain your anger please don't marry. Women are the same everywhere with their unpredictable attitudes, white or black, but it takes maturity and tacts to live with them peacefully. Those men celebrating 30,40,50 years of wedding anniversary saw hell but endured those periods with maturity hence the pride to celebrate those years.

This is a narcissist man’s wet dream. (Gags) When they come to tell you it’s okay because some culture or religion allows it and then you see some women agreeing with them, I go the bathroom and throw up a little. Disgusting doesn’t begin to describe it. Pathetic and desperate describes such women. And that’s putting it nicely Farfalla: I can imagine. Very few polygamous families function normally. It's always one horror story after another. My mother's first cousin is a first wife in a polygamous marriage. This woman has lived for decades in the same house with her crazy, narcissistic husband and her co-wife. The same house o! The man deliberately wanted her to stick around so that he could rub his second marriage in her face. She had 2 kids when this co-wife joined them.
He ganged up with his second wife to make her miserable, and what did she do? She got 4 other kids with this same man! Total of 6 kids with a man who despised her! How the man's manhood would rise to the occasion with all the hostility he had towards her is the one thing I couldn't understand. Maybe he'd go to her bedroom when the other wife was in her periods. That was my conclusion. She must have thought that getting more children will bring some form of healing to the marriage. For where?
Ironically, the co-wife just got 2 kids and she's the loved one. This my mother's cousin would come to our home and lament to my mum about her ordeal in that marriage. From constant verbal abuse, to being thrown out while it's raining, to hearing sex sounds from her co-wife's room, to being locked up in her room so she won't eat (as "punishment" ), this woman went through what you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy.
That's the picture I have of a polygamous home. I grew up watching that family and I knew, even as a little girl, that something wasn't quite right with that set-up. |

It’s what happens when the man doesn’t view himself as a co-parent. Rather he adopts the position of a dependent who has also has to be cared for by the wife and then feel ignored because the wife is caring for toddlers and infants more. If he contributes equally to parenting the children, the wife won’t have to do everything herself and consequently will have time to tend to his needs as well. That way they can care for each other and their kids. Wives aren’t meant to be pseudo moms for grown men. That’s the fastest way to kill romantic feelings between the couple |

Your house is absolutely your wife’s house You’re co-owners She doesn’t live with you . She’s living in her house too. And she will be primarily deferred to before your mom or sister when in her house which is also your house. Your post really has nothing to do with the topic tollyboy5: Lol I'm not married yet but there are things I find difficult to understand. 1)While growing up me and my elder sis stand in the kitchen when my mum cooks. Anybody can cook, we share cooking. I only stopped now that I have other stuff to do.
2)The authority people belief ladies have over their husband house is strange to me. She has her fathers house and I have my fathers house. OK now I have my house and she lives with me, how does that makes it her house? My daddy's house belongs to my dad since he's still alive. I use to try to tell my mum that how I see it. She's a mother and land lady I don't see my mum having superior authority in my dads house because she's his wife. Me myself I don't see superior authority in my fathers property beyond my elder sis thats why I leave important decition to my sister. 3) my family is a big family and theyre fond of put many siblings together with anyone member of the family that is wellbeing . My dad lived with his younger once b4 he got married and it became a problem to my mum after marriage. [4) no matter the love for a wife I don't think she has superior authority in my home over my elder sis or mummy. I'll would want my wife to fear my mummy and respect my sis like I always do. Same also when it comes to her parents |

Klass99: You nailed the question Acid asked, perfectly!
Seven blessings to you and much respect
@ Vision101, your take on this matter is klassic, I like it. Acidosis: Well said, Coco. Without kids in the mix, marriage between two poor people should never be a problem. Staying single is not going to alleviate their condition anyway.
By the way, if sex and companionship can drain a married man financially, a single guy won't be spared either. Most of these guys even have more sex and, of course, with more women than the married guy.
Even the idea of raising kids is no longer peculiar with married people. There are more poor single men with kids and baby mamas these days. The only difference between them and the poor married men with kids is that while the former is populated with largely irresponsible touts (who don't care about baby food and school fees), more men in the other category struggle day in day out to ensure the survival of their children. |

olabrinks: I’m not being funny but women born after 1990 should not have this stupid olden day mentality of the “kitchen belongs to me only”. It’s weird and stupid. The Kitchen does not belong to the wife of the house, if someone is hungry and they want to cook, let them cook. If someone wants to bath will they ask for permission before using the bathroom? What nonsense. I agree. But being on this forum has shown me that people actually do take their kitchens very very seriously so I’ve learned to try and not be biased about it. I guess? I personally would want anyone staying with me to feel very free to cook and eat as they please. If they are messy, then it’s a different issue. |

But if you didn’t need sex, their decision to not have sex won’t bother you? Would it? Since you’re older too, do you consider yourself old newspaper only good for wrapping akara and aboki suya? Or is that a description you only reserve for women? Why would any mature woman give you her time since that’s how low you think for them? They can see through you and your BS fineboynl: lol. Like as I said it not about the sex. Not every guy is crazy over sex. But the act to blackmail some one with it is to lame. For a person like me it's something to make a joke out from. I am older and sometimes find myself taking to old lady as well. And this act is so common with them. It's not because they are decent it holy but because they want to marry
My point is if I needed sex I will go for younger women and it's very uncommon for younger women to see this. |
Family › Re: Why Are Young Men In Nigeria So Desperate About Marriage by cococandy(f): 11:28pm On Nov 09, 2021 |
Acidosis: Why can't a broke man get married? I need one genuine reason. It’s because our traditional idea of marriage is ONLY for men to get their “successors”. That’s why if they don’t have children, they don’t respect the marriage as well as if they did. In that case you can’t be getting married if you’re broke. Because who’s going to sustain those offspring that’s the sole purpose of your union? When more people marry for companionship they will start to realize that two poor people can get married if they can care for their own financial needs at the moment without adding innocent kids into the mix to suffer unnecessarily. |

fineboynl: I'm not entitled to it and sex means nothing to me, I am one of the few men who don't see sex to be anything. Maybe we are lucky. It better they say I don't want to have sex and I will take it that way, other than I must marry them before sex. Who does that? Definitely not mean. They are old newpaper which are use for akara and aboki suya. And theyshould be paying men to date them not the otherway round . They are much more younger women to date if it's sex. You saw all that, knew all that and still went for them. Why? Your only disappointment is because you figured they would be easy to bed but that didn’t work out how you planned, hence your complaints. |

fineboynl: they already have body count. Nothing is there anymore. What do you expect from 28 years old girls who started having sex at 14. Well that’s xtupid no offense. It is asinine to believe that because a woman has had consensual sexual relationships with someone before you, they must say yes to you as well. Having sex does not mean she has no right over her body anymore and must agree to everyone who comes her way. It’s your entitlement and ego speaking when you believe that if someone else got a yes, then you deserve a yes as well. She doesn’t owe you her body. Which leads me to ask, why are you interested in them if there’s nothing there anymore? Do you not like yourself? If you can’t have a relationship without sex, find a woman who is okay with sleeping with you. There are thousands. Don’t be fixated on the one who said no just because you believe you’re entitled to it. |

KevinDein: You got jokes though. No one's learning biological sciences on nairalands family section, a section renowned for its bias. Pretty much every information is just a couple of Google clicks away. We love to learn, not just from you guys. Don’t learn from me. Just learn to read. Also ask yourself why sperm banks prefer younger men. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3253726/Motility
In contrast to concentration, evidence consistently indicates that sperm motility decreases with advancing age. Studies that adjusted for duration of abstinence revealed statistically significant decreases in motility of 0.17% to 0.6% decrease per year of age21,24 resulting in a 3% to 12% decline in motility over 20 years. More recently, Sloter and colleagues used computer-assisted semen analysis in a population of 90 men aged 22 to 80 years with no history of infertility. Motility decreased 0.8% per year of age and linear motion decreased 0.2% per year.25
Because motility is acquired during sperm transit through the prostate and the epididymis, the decrease in motility is suspected to be due to age-related decline in the function of these posttesticular glands.12 Age-dependent alterations of the epididymis may also cause alterations in sperm mitochondrial functioning, which is paramount for sperm motility.26
Morphology
Similar to motility, morphology appears to decrease with advancing male age. Studies indicate declines in normal sperm morphology of 0.2% to 0.9% per year of age, resulting in a 4% to 18% decrease in normal morphology over a 20-year period.21,23,27 It is important to recognize the limitations in comparing sperm morphology data across studies secondary to differences in morphology criteria used by different investigators.
Seminal Volume
Evidence suggests there is a mild decrease in seminal volume with increasing age, although the clinical significance of this finding is marginal. The decrease in volume may be related to seminal vesicle insufficiency because seminal vesicle fluid composes most of the ejaculate volume.12,18 Prostatic changes, including smooth muscle atrophy, may also affect semen volume and sperm motility.
The reports showing a decrease in volume have only identified a modest change of 0.15% to 0.2% per year of age. This accumulates to a 3% to 4% decrease in seminal volume over a 20-year period.23,24 Other large population-based studies have shown no difference in volume with age.19,22 Most data suggest that the most pronounced changes occur in men aged > 45 years. Semen volume drops from a median of 2.80 mL in those aged 45 to 47.8 years to 1.95 mL in men aged > 56.6 years.20,28 |
