Fine but this is not worth celebrating. She’ll forever live in regret cos she killed her husband and made her young kids fatherless. She should have walked away. Do you know what it means to be in her current situation?

Family › Re: Widow Chased Away From Husband’s House Over Male Child by cococandy(f): 2:00pm On Apr 10, 2019
When people are married, the finances belong to both of them, whether the man makes the money and woman is a stay at home mom or the woman makes the money and the man is a stay at home dad. And nowhere in Nigeria does it happen that a man gets dispossessed of his marital property because his dead wife was the one who made the money. Y’all got jokes.

For all we know, one person made the sacrifice to be home and take care of the home while the other person earns the income. Now to classify that as not contributing anything to the home is just a way to demean the contributions of the stay home parent. Which in itself is gender discriminatory because if men traditionally are the home keepers, that role wouldn’t be undermined. People wouldn’t look down on it.

You’re the ones arguing when there shouldn’t be an argument. So because someone wasn’t the financial contributor in the marriage, they deserve to live on the street when the bread winner dies? And By gold digger you mean the person they built a family with?. Unbelievable!

Why isn’t a married person entitled to the property that their partners acquired while married to them? So who’s entitled to it then? The siblings who didn’t build the family with them. Please stop talking/typing.

P.S you don’t have to like every opinion of mine. Stating it here is irrelevant. Focus on the specific topic. Thanks

The bottom line is that the unwillingness to embrace gender equality is the cause of things like these. All of you can go argue with your phones.

This post lacks reasoning abilities. I won’t respond to the next one. Move on please. undecided
Mizwisdom:
I usually like your arguments as it makes sense but in this case I think you're not getting things right. If a woman owns properties and she gets married to a penniless man, he might not be allowed to take it all away especially if they had no kids or he wasn't a good husband to her while alive. It all depends on the in-laws he has to contend with. Would you allow a gold digger take away your sister's sweat without resisting especially when she informed you of their marital situation before hand, you would have been advising her on how to secure her wealth before her death.

It's similar when the case switches over. Yes, we live in a place where there's inequality but when a woman contributes nothing financially to a home, allows her husband put all his acquired property in his name, isn't aware of a will or investment in the children's name, isn't a signatory to her husband's account et al, who would you blame?

Nothing stops her from securing her children's future, right from their birth, this is what these guys here are saying. This should be an example to all women, sometimes it helps to listen, secure your kids future, buy properties in their names if possible, invest in their names, this is what they're saying because if you sit back and wait for what you think you're entitled to, you may not get it and you may not be able to fight for it because you weren't wise enough to secure it when you had the chance

It's not everything we should turn to argument
Family › Re: Widow Chased Away From Husband’s House Over Male Child by cococandy(f): 11:54am On Apr 10, 2019
You saying that an industrious woman should also have a back up plan against things like this or go the legal route is just you shooting yourself in the foot and making my point for me.

Why doesn’t a man need that back up to protect him against his in-laws in the case of his wife’s death?

I don’t have to force anyone to agree with me. But the majority of you look dumb when you fight the system that’s growing to help women but then when it happens to someone close to you, you come to the internet to cry about the same thing the system is growing to overcome.

Your hate for women will get the better of y’all. In one way or the other because it’s vicious cycle.

ThothHermes:
Do you have any example of a man and woman both acquiring properties and the family coming after her after the man's death? I bet you don't. It's another fabrication from your misandrist mind. Create a false hypothetical scenario so you can counter it.

My reasoning tells me that it's lack of laws and an efficient judiciary that makes this possible. You have not shown otherwise.

And you have not answered. Feigning exasperation is an escape tactic. It is not an answer.
Do you really think that a woman who is smart and industrious enough to build with a man would not have a backup plan or would not be confident enough to seek legal redress??
Family › Re: Widow Chased Away From Husband’s House Over Male Child by cococandy(f): 2:57am On Apr 10, 2019
The fact that when a man loses his wife to death, his in-laws do not go after him to dispossess him of the property he accumulated with his wife, highlights the basic inequality between genders

Wetin dey worry you that you have refused to use your god-given reasoning ability?

Asking me what feminism has to do with it. Just say you don’t understand what feminism means and call it a day.

ThothHermes:
Nigeria needs laws and a functional judiciary. Any decent lawyer would get a judgement in the favour of the woman.
What has feminism got to do with this. You think if the kids were male the family members would not grab the properties if they so desired?

Is it because of feminism that things like this these do not happen in America or is it because they have an effective legal systemhuh

Wetin dey worry una selfhuh

If she had involved the police, it’s still guys on this forum that will yap about how she’s a useless feminist for calling police for her husband.

Wondering if she thinks she’s in America where a woman can call the police on her husband. So she dealt with it the way she knew how.
It was either endure the abuse or act.

Can’t complain about a system you enable.

I do not support jungle justice. She should indeed have left him. But again that’s a useless feminist idea. Divorce is a taboo

Mmm hmm. Now her friend has come with her own version.

It’s rare for one slap to degenerate into a thug fest. He was abusing her most likely

opella:
This is from her friend

Good evening, Mr Ufuoma Bernard I truly sympathise with you. I'm the founder of Afulenu cares foundation and these are the kind of situations we fight for. Its very sad you do not know the true story and all that glitters is not gold. I'm sorry my dearest friend and sister Princess , but I have to tell your story, she was 16 when her father died and due to poverty she was forced to marry Odi who was 40 then, she was a baby making machine, started giving birth from 17, Odi would only sleep with her for procreation and never showed her intimacy, he beat her up to stupor some nights she didn't agree, she suffered from depression which led to her weight gain, she was unhappy and had no one to turn to until she registered herself at the stadium not a gym and not by Odi. Now working out was the only thing that made her happy, when Odi saw the wife was happy he started his rounds of lies that she was being unfaithful and the beatings increased. Many times my friend will hide until her wounds heal, she will always say he is not perfect but at least he is taking care of the children. My friend endured the beating and domestic violence for 12 years but still kept quiet. Now the sister to Odi who is divorced came to live with them, instead of going to the one bedroom she insisted it's her brothers house and decided to stay in the living room, princess disagreed and asked her to move to the one bedroom that it won't be nice when visitors come to visit and see her in the parlour with her belongings so an argument started which led to Odi slapping Princess, as if that was not enough, the sister held princess hands while Odi punched and blew princess in his usual manner, she suffered a wrist and shoulder fracture, I have the report from the hospital and I will post pictures as well. This beating happened on Saturday the 30th of March, now In 12 years of marriage princess has never retaliated but due to the beating she received, she sent the pictures to her family, the next day which was Sunday, the siblings arrived and wanted to know why Odi has been beating up their sister all these years and Odi asked them all to get out and this led to a confrontation and they all started fighting, the elder brother to my friend princess is younger and stronger so he was able to overpower Odi. Now Odi had some cuts and bruises, I'm not supporting taking laws into your hands but the beating was just to give him a taste of his own medicine, now unfortunately after 10 days Odi died, we couldn't believe it bcoz the intention was just to beat him up so he won't touch their sister again. Now my friend with her broken wrist, shoulder, badly beaten face was arrested but when God is at work, you will suffer tribulations but he will always rescue his own, today I was at the police station after 6 days of her arrest and to God be the glory she has been released because the autopsy showed the real cause of his death, I have first hand information from the police and hospital so please before you defame anyone on social media please know the facts, I don't support evil but I know many men who have fought their sister's husband, even their daughter's husbands for beating them up, domestic violence should not be supported no matter what, this is the whole truth about this case and God will vindicate my friend. I leave you with some of the pictures of my friend when Odi uses her as a punching bag, she endured for 12 years.

You know too much about their issues for someone who isn’t in the marriage. Na wa o.

Anyway if your information is accurate, everyone involved is at fault.

1) What married person brings a relative to live with him/her without the agreement of his/her partner. The husband is wrong for that. If he treated his wife like an equal, he wouldn’t impose his wishes on her thereby causing resentment and the need for her going places to get ‘answers’

2) If the woman can’t use her brain but depends on her pastor to think for her, she should sell the brain to people who need it. What a gullible person. Her type irritates me so much.

3) The maid obviously lacks home training. Whatever happens between your custodians should be none of your business. Still respect them for housing you. She’s senseless

4) I don’t even blame the pastor as much (even though he has a lot of blame here) but he’s a con man and this is his source of livelihood. Mugu fall dem chop am. I’d be rich if I could find people to believe my manipulation using ‘THE WORD OF GOD’. I didn’t send anyone to be stupid. She’s stupid and he’s cashing in on it.

You can do better by actually fighting against oppression instead of fighting those who fight it.

Pretentious dumbass
LordKO:
Lol. I stirred up a hornet's nest. Well, I didn't say I loathe you . . . loathing your online character isn't the same thing as loathing you. And believe you me, you can do better. You don't need to behave like a termagant to arrest the nefarious activities of wannabe alpha males or visit their sins on every other male.
Family › Re: Widow Chased Away From Husband’s House Over Male Child by cococandy(f): 10:08pm On Apr 07, 2019
The same way I loathe you.

You very conveniently have nothing to say to the boys running amok on this forum spreading woman hate on this forum. Quite as mouse

You have nothing to say when people say girls deserve to die for their dressing. But you hate my personality for being vocal against it.

You have nothing when people promote female oppression even though you have no problem against feminism. Supposedly.

But your brain only becomes active as soon as someone like me speaks up against the hate.

Go and sit your ass down. Quoting a single line comment with epistles only to arrive at your bottom line which was to tell me your dislike me. Mumu.
Like I give a flying fvck.

LordKO:
Lol. I loathe people that posses your kind of online character irrespective of the gender - wannabe feminists and wannabe alpha males. Meanwhile, I don't need your validation to substantiate my proclamation of being an egalitarian. Extrapolation isn't your forte.

Oya, clam down nwannem nwayi. Don't worry, I'll not call you termagant again.
Family › Re: Widow Chased Away From Husband’s House Over Male Child by cococandy(f): 9:13pm On Apr 07, 2019
So your response to my initial post was a personal attack to a simple post.
And I’m the small minded person who’s evil and bla bla bla.

Unsurprisingly.

Hate filled people attack for no reason and then try to make themselves the victims

If you don’t have a problem with feminism, you won’t have a problem with me.

But you’re an imbecille and I shouldn’t even have replied your initial response because you’re obviously fishing for a reaction.

You’re a misogynistic asshole. Full stop. Stop acting like you care about equality.

LordKO:
I see nothing wrong with feminism, so long as it's a vehicle of propagating egalitarianism - and as I said before, egalitarianism doesn't mean absence of altruism, conscientiousness and oneness. The problem isn't about the movement itself but a termagant like you that gloss your small-mindedness in its toga. You're a typical example of a wannabe feminist, so keep quiet.

I doff my hat for all strong-minded women, whether or not they identify with feminism - Nigeria needs strong-minded people.

Peace out.
Family › Re: Widow Chased Away From Husband’s House Over Male Child by cococandy(f): 6:18pm On Apr 07, 2019
OFF POINT!!

Does Nigeria need feminism or not? If you’re not against feminism, no need to get defensive about that simple post. Nothing in my post said Nigeria needed any of the things you listed. But you deviated to that angle because you are against feminism. That’s the story you tell yourselves to keep supporting the causes that hurt women.

Toxic behavior is the inability to listen to others. The penchant to knowingly twist other people’s words to make it into what you want it to mean is what is evil .

If sane people (including you) aren’t against feminism, what’s your post all about then? You should have read the post and said yes indeed Nigeria does need feminism instead of going off on a tangent. When someone says “ I’m a feminist “ and deep inside your heart you agree that feminism isn’t a bad thing, the last thing you would be moved to do is to get defensive.

You get defensive because you’re against equality for women. But you know that no sane person should be against equality for women. So you pretend those who want equality for women are hating on men. That way you can sell your argument and not feel guilty about it.

Says a lot about you really believe.

LordKO:
Nigeria doesn't need termagants, misandrists, self-centered and greedy women that glosses their small-mindedness and evil with the toga of feminism - most online and Nigerian wannabe feminists possess either one or more of these toxic attributes.

Personally, I know that sane Nigerians aren't against feminism. So long as it remains a vehicle of propagating egalitarianism, it remains a noble cause. Sane women worldwide that identify with feminism know that egalitarianism doesn't mean absence of conscientiousness, altruism and oneness.

Try the LV or Chanel store. That’s probably what she meant by a good purse. Coach is one the few brands that could qualify as nice that would come at that price and only in the outlet store . Some people argue that the outlet items have lower quality than what they sell in their boutiques.

On a side note, I’m interested in the dolce and gabbana purchase. Every time I look on their website or the websites of their authorized authentic retailers, it’s always over $1000.

The cheapest I’ve seen is 20% off which usually brings it to no lower than $900. I wouldn’t buy DnG at that price because they aren’t my favorite designers but for $275, I’d definitely get one.

Help a sister with the link.

Bitterleafsoup:
I got a nice Coach with matching wallet at the outlet in Florida for $160.00 and a Dolce and Gabbana for $275.00. Just saying....
