I get riled up easily. Not good for my blood pressure and all. 250 likes? For that idiotic point of view? Which kain tin be dis na? I can't get you wrong. I know the feeling. Same here. There are only a handful of people on this forum that I feel that way reading their posts. You included of course. How can a human being think this is okay? Not a goat or sheep. A human being. Thinking this way. It's alright. There have to be foolish people in this world for balance. But it hurts me there are more fools than normal people roaming about. A foolish father who failed in training his daughter well thinks he can redeem himself by destroying her publicly and some folks think that's okay. |

All these hungry fools on this thread making comments about how she married for money, pls how do you know that for a fact? Just because you're broke and xtupid doesn't mean you get to exhibit your jealousy whenever you see someone doing better.
So any well to do guy shouldn't get married anymore? So that your dumb asses won't say the woman married him for money. Just look at the insensitive comments pouring in on the girl. When none of you know her, or the circumstances under which she married the man. But you think she deserves the pain because the guy had money.

The things we will never know. bukatyne: Clicked the link and while others slimmed him for saving his mother, One Adeyemo Afeez supports his decisions....
Would it be a leap to say Adeyemo Afeez is a Nigerian man.?
@OP:
The story is not clear....
The flood was spreading to his village (so their house was not yet flooded and the danger not imminent?)
He told his wife and kids to climb the roof while he took his mother (to where?)
Was the plan to come back for the wife and kids and he stays with his mother at wherever while wifey and kids stay on the roof?
Honestly, I can't get the meat of the story.
P.S.: Is the man standing on a plank the same man? Who took the pictures? Where is the family on the roof? Where else could he have taken mama to? |

My point is that, if he's trying to use outdated traditions as his justification, the he should remember it could swing against him. Never said he shouldn't inherit because of his illegitimacy. That's why I used 'if'. Re-read the post you quoted. Note that I called both outdated. P.S I don't stand for discrimination of any kind. Eketem: This is contradictory.
You are calling the tradition on inheritance outdated and rightly so, yet you are using the same outdated traditions that regards kids as illegitimate and belonging to their mothers people.
We can't pick wicked traditions that favor us and discard the rest |

The other posters have said it all. Even if the law recognizes that xtupid culture that prohibits women from inheriting property, it will never and should never extend to your mom. Is he sick? Besides he is illegitimate so he belongs with his mother's people if he's trying to stick to outdated traditions as his justification. |
Family › Re: Was He Right To Have Done This? by cococandy(f): 9:57am On Jul 28, 2016 |
RiloKiley: Do women in the US have more rights and privileges than those in Nigeria? well Nigeria is a lawless country. So don't even compare. Living in a place where you're respected as a human being and treated equally doesn't equate to having 'powers'. It just means things are normal. That people are normal. And that simply courtesy, respect and fairness is not asking for too much. If a woman and her husband have even a minor disagreement at home, can the wife call the police and tell them to come remove her husband from the home because she doesn't feel safe, and they will do so first to ensure her safety before even listening to his side of the story?
Have women been known to send thier husbands out in the cold by using this method, just to be mean to them, just because they can?
Once again, I reiterate the man was wrong to behave in such an uncivilized manner. But is it possible the woman has her own faults and actually did "misbehave" when they were in the US? all I can say to this is that you're reading way too much nairaland. Way too much. |

What powers please. I need to be enlightened on this issue. RiloKiley: Fine, I agree he wasnt civilized in his approach. I'm glad your example also included a woman acting in an unruly behaviour. You will agree that its actually possible the woman of that husband actually misused her powers in U.S hence the man's annoyance , so much so that some offered to continue beating the wife for him while others told him to forgive and forget. No one absolved the woman from wrongdoing. The woman herself did not deny the allegations but in fact was remorseful.
A lot of ladies go over there to the US and with thier newfound freedom and "rights", behave very badly. They frustrate the men who worked an arm and a limb to get them there in the first place. The men feel that they have done their all for this woman, the least she can do is show gratitude, loyalty and respect. When the woman decides instead to take advantage of the situation and humiliate the man then u can be rest assured the man will seek his own pound of flesh when he has the chance. |

veave: ehen? its possible she wasnt really bad. just maybe the man is an abusive and troublesome type. some men... if you ignore them, fight. you answer them fight.
besides, if the woman was really bad, she would not have followed him to naija because she knows what he has done and she'll now what hes capable of doing...
all i see is a bully that was denied the freedom to exercise his prowess .... exactly |

That's the kind of stories they cook up for retardz on this forum to believe. If we lived in Togo we would think USA is a country where a man can go to jail for arguing with his wife. While the truth is that the beastly ones only feel oppressed because there's no room for them to act like beasts without consequences. eyinjuege: Pray tell, why would he be thrown to jail in the USA if he argues with his wife?
Provided he doesn't assault her, he won't be thrown into jail.
If the wife assaulted him and he called the cops, she would be thrown into jail.
Is his grouse the fact that he couldn't beat his wife in the US?
Why is there a need for him to beat his wife? If she's verbally abusive, can't he walk away? If she physically assaulted him can't he call the police?
Does he really think violence should be the solution in a marriage?
I'm still trying to understand the message, as all I can garner from this is that the man is physically abusive and his wife and kids are at risk of domestic violence |
Family › Re: Everything's Just Wrong by cococandy(f): 7:17am On Jul 28, 2016 |
True. They feel she's a single mom now so her life is ruined. Typical Nigerians. Valuing women based on sexuality. Onegai: They are treating you like this because they are most likely Nairalanders and based on what they read here, think their daughter's life is over and she will never marry. So are trying to force her on you. If you and the mother could talk away from parents, and you could convince her that "look, let us take our time to sort ourselves out. Because if I am forced to marry you without liking you for the sake of my child, I may cheat on you and deal with you to the point that you will have a special spot on the carpet in front of MFM pulpit". Women who have had better starts to marriage have suffered even more, talkless of your situation.
You can speak to a lawyer but I guess your parents assume that eventually when school starts, the sinking economy will force them to the table and they can handle things amicably. |
Family › Re: Everything's Just Wrong by cococandy(f): 7:12am On Jul 28, 2016 |
OP you have a right to your child. Don't let anyone deny you that. Which kind by-force marriage be that one? If you really want to be a part of her life, go the legal route and get a custody agreement reached. So you get to have some father-daughter time with her during her formative years. Especially during then.
And as someone already said, pls use protection henceforth. HIV is very very real. Odikwa serious. |

magicminister: How would you feel if your father rescued his mother (your grandmother) first instead of your mother? would you ever be able to accept that? He wouldn't understand that. He'd be mad at his father. Because to him the world revolves around his mom. Not knowing that if the dad was to think like him too, the world would revolve around his grandma. And if the wife was in a situation to save either him or her mom, he wouldn't find it acceptable if she chose to save her mom instead of him. That's how the world is. Everyone is selfish. |
