At topic this is horrible. If it is true I hope they are punished. Who gave traditional rulers rights over other people's land and properties? And they are surprised at the audacity of the herdsmen. Both the and those herdsmen deserve the same treatment. Thorough punishment. I'd recommend anyone of them found guilty be dethroned. What arrant Nonsense |

Maybe the relationship is moving nowhere and she wants to settle down. I think she did the right thing except that she didn't discuss it with you first. But Even if she did, you might have started thinking she's desperate or pushing you into something you're not ready for.
There's really no pleasing some dudes. So I don't blame her. A girl's gotta do what's best for her in that anti-woman environment. Afterall na una go still yab her when she's 30 and single. But to marry them, you won't. You want to date them for 10 yrs. Well You can't eat your cake and have it.
As long as you live in and promote a society where the culture shames ladies ladies for being single past a certain age, you will all be dumped unceremoniously like this when wedding bells seem to chime. Real or fake. |

Stop spreading untruths. In my neck of the woods, a woman can be arrested for assaulting a man or another woman or any human being at all. they are not untouchable. Many are in jail for assault. Dejideji1: Yes, several cases happen in front of cops and the man will still be held responsible at the end of the day if he decides to retaliate. What about cases of women attempting to beat up a cop just because they feel they are untouchable.
You need to see how women abuse the privilege, there was a case in a public transit, a lady removed her shoe and hit a guy on his head and wounded him in the process, for no reason at all or maybe i should say because she didn't like the guy's face.
the man was infuriated and slapped her, believe me he was jailed although was later granted bail with a huge fine
Despite evidences provided by surveillance camera in the vehicle, the man was still charged. |
Crime › Re: Two Women Beat A Man In Akure For Harassing Them (photos) by cococandy(f): 5:19pm On Jul 12, 2016 |
Really? So women can publicly beat up a man and no police officer will arrest them? Tell me something. Dejideji1: Don't mind them, i keep saying it, women of nowadays don't deserve the special privileges they are given. Women are now more hostile, aggressive and dangerous. (Although I still respect older women., but not the ill mannered ladies we have this days)
What they did to this guy is nothing compared to what some women in America do to men. And you dare not retaliate no matter the degree of assault else you will be jailed, imagine that nonsense, considering the hostile and dangerous nature of women nowadays. |

He has penalty if the girl was Muslim. But they see other religions as infidels to be raped and captured and abused at will. Obviously. Flairoqy: Let's be honest here, if assuming Ese was my sister I would prefer yunusa rots in jail or something worse than that, I'm a Muslim and I'm judging this by heart, Yunusa shouldn't be supported by the Northerners when they fully know that if she (Ese) was their child they might even sentence yunusa to death, I have 5sisters and it really pains me to see them around guys, I get mad talk more of getting them pregnant, I will kill you I swear. So let's be fair, yunusa was wrong to have travelled with the girl without her parent consent, and bringing her back pregnant? he's a kidnapper whether she willingly followed him or not. I believe he has penalty for his crime in Sharia law. |

They support Yunusa for what he did, for furthering the cause of their religion. Even here on Nairaland, Didn't we see Islamic folks showing solidarity to this rapist abductor??. Yunusa is now a hero to them.

According to you everyone takes care of you and treats you like an egg yet you blame only them for this. Do you know what really happened? If your dad was that serious about you, even if he died his people would have come looking for you because they would know he has a son somewhere. He would have made sure to tell them how to find you. What you remember from when you were 7yes old is at best a romanticized idea of the true picture. Stop having romantic ideas of a dad who stopped showing up. Still search for him but have an open mind, So that you don't end up heartbroken. He stopped coming for a reason. And if that reason is death, his people haven't come to find you for a reason too. Appreciate the family that you already have. Not a lot of people can raise kids that's aren't theirs. Be grateful to your aunts. |

Yea. She should have told him first. That's not right. That's was the first thing I noticed about the story. Like how can't you share the important information with the dad first and then tell others later. He shouldn't have had to find out like that. However not comparable to him insinuating she cheated on social media. If he was upset, he could have called her immediately. Mindfulness: She has too.
Why would she make an announcement on social media before sharing the news with the person who deserves to know FIRST, her husband? |

She's speaking for herself not all women. Usually it's an adjustment for most women. oweniwe: That is how women are "wired "
That is how women want it.
I once asked a lady friend who got marrieD why she took up all her husband's names.... (She changed her middle name to her husband first name sef so her name became Esther John Chizzi)
She said every girl looks forward to changing her father' s name to her husband's name... It feels good to them... Makes them feel "pride ".... Like .... "I now have a man over me ...."
But me as a guy, I don't understand/can't make sense out of even a sentence out of everything she said....
How can a human being derive joy by changing name to another human being ' s name? |

How's your daughter doing yup. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I'm just too lazy for this right now. Family › Re: Why Do Married Women Have To Be Addressed As Mrs? by cococandy(f): 6:40am On Jul 11, 2016 |
They don't have to be addressed as Mrs. It's not necessary. Usually it is meant for official documents where their marital status information is important. But otherwise it's not important during dialogue.
I know societies differ, so I'm probably talking to the choir. But your marital status shouldn't affect how people talk to you. I know my naija sisters feels adding Mrs. To their names should equal automatic respect. Earned or not. In my neck of the woods, everyone is Ms. X or Z. Nobody cares whether you're married or not.

She flogged a child for wanting to try some new food? I hail una. rollywise: Really puzzled at some people's response here. I was once a teacher and was in charge of late comers. I flogged everyone for coming late but with different degrees and most times in front of their parents who concurred at the way I carried it out. A parent called my attention that I haven't flogged his child whose in the nursery for coming late cos she didn't even wanna come to school. My uncle's wife from Poland flogged her one year old child when they came to Nigeria cos he was insisting on eating corn which d mum claimed he's not used to. 2 months (8weeks) pregnant simply means the fetus is 6 weeks old. They count from your last period not the actual conception date because they can't really know the day conception occurred.

For people that live in Nigeria where the law of community property doesn't exist between married couples, love is not enough. He may not change but situations may change. Anything can happen. So they are wise to be worried. Haven't you heard of a man's family coming together to marry a wife for him in the village meanwhile he's living with his wife in another city. Eketem: I don't understand how women will marry men and have unprotected se-x with them yet start fidgeting when it comes to money.

Christianity Etc › Re: UN: Taking Children To Church Violates Their Human Rights by cococandy(f): 3:43pm On Jul 10, 2016 |
There's no way you can avoid impacting your beliefs on your children. Even if you don't take them to church, your social beliefs will rub off on them. If you're atheist, it will run off on them. Whatever you are will rub off on them. They came into this world as a blank template only to absorb what's going on around them. The parents are usually their first impressions.
What about taking them to school? Does it not violate their human rights? Since some of them if given the chance will not want to be educated. Why not let them choose in that aspect?
Abeg they should go and sit down. Kids don't get to decide such things until they are 18. Then they can decide if they want to stop going to church or school or generally unfollowing their parents footsteps. But as long as they are considered minors, their parents get to make decisions for them as long as of course it doesn't harm them. I.e child marriage, child labor etc. |
