Okay

Thats a big fat lie, I know an old woman who travelled to do 'omuguo' she claims to be a nurse now looking after mad people. Can you beat that. Just admit it, the only credential you guys in USA and UK have is that you live abroad and you can buy food cheap. There is no way you can compare a working guy here with all them abroad hustlers.

Ok. How about buying in the name of a child? Does that make sense? Does it have any kind of implications?

I don't really like the Mr & Mrs lagbaja thing since any body can be Mrs Lagbaja.
It should reflect Mr. A and Mrs. B Labgaja.

Your first name must be there. You can't buy joint property with a man in a country where polygamy is legal without making sure your first name is on the title too.

Typical ignoramus.

Do you think anyone can just be allowed to take care of mad mentally ill people in the US? That's how most of you yap about things you know little of.
Americans don't joke with mental health. Not any unqualified street urchin is allowed to take care of mentally ill people.
Start with a degree in psychiatry in an approved college/university before anyone will even let you near their loved ones who are mentally ill.

totorimi:
How sir? Haven't you heard the type of jobs they give the blacks, all of them claim nurse, some say they are cna, pca, rn and what have you the majority of them are looking after old people as glorified house boy and house girls or even looking after mad people Others that are lucky to be security you know stand attention from morning till night. Another set are the sales people selling like shoprite attendants at MacDonald and other retail shops, you dare not sit down or complain ven if the acata people or oyinbo abuse you and call you a slave.

Some working in the offices dont earn much but you will sit down in one place for 8 hours just smiling at everybody that comes near you ortherwise trouble. Now everybody must claim IT because that seems the only job if you know what you are doing you are a bit free.

At the end of the day, all you make is taken away by taxes so tell me is that not modern day slavery. Its not as if I was told I travelled there to have a first hand appraisal of the situation. The only thing which they are priding themselves is their steady light and water and maybe adherence to law and order but with the influx of black immigrants all that is fast been broken don and abused.

My only aim is to ensure that the useless old people ruining our country and our youths are destroyed so Naija can move forward. If Naija can get their acts today as a United nation under God then we will be the best nation in the whole wild world

Nigerians sabi carry USA mater for head like pure water sha.

Even me that lives here can't be overly bothered about US like I see some people who live in Nigeria do. Instead I obsess more about Nigerian issues because that's my home and my heart is still there.

Yet amidst all our issues, we are more concerned about US.

I know how threads like this usually pan out.
No matter what you type, as long as you haven't called the wife names, you haven't helped. Lol

Before I even commented, I knew it had the potential to turn into something like this where people will begin to judge and act like they know who or who doesn't help their family based on the posts.

I hope unlike the last time she created this type of thread, this time she will leave with one or two things.

Askseek:
You make too much sense for her to understand. Why come up with a solution when we can heap insults on the brother and invoke the dead parents on him. Why think of all other reasons why he was unable to help her out at that moment when nameless and faceless people can join op to heap curses on a young couple. Who knows why the Inlaw needed money or when she asked, how did she even know it was his Inlaw he sent money to from the muffled 1way conversation she had. Too many gaps in the story but it's a story that comes from the "my Inlaw/mother or fathers brother or sister" is being mean to me group of people so most take her at her word and woe betide anyone who questions them or profers a solution. Don't waste your time jare.
Family › Re: My Brother Will Make Me Cry To My Dead Parents Against Him by cococandy(f): 1:40am On Jul 09, 2016
Yes. My husband and kid come first. My siblings second. It simply means they are the priority when my distributing my income.

It's not a way of saying that one group is less than the other in case people are misunderstanding that.

You're talking to the brother. But he's not here. I doubt that if he's here anyone will tell him to not help his sister. I know I wouldn't.
But since she's the one who's here, she's the one who needs the post that will help her: which is not one revolving around maligning her sister in law. I see such posts as futile. After I tell her that her brother has become whipped, then what? The thread expires and she makes it from my pity posts?

And I disagree that he owes her. Parents owe their kids. Not siblings. I know that can easily be misunderstood to say that I think it's okay for siblings not to help each other. I don't think so.
I'd actually sacrifice a need of mine (many needs) to help any of my siblings. But the moment they see it as me owing them and have to pay up, it becomes something else. Something I wouldn't like to do.

freecocoa:
Is there really a need to say some people are first and others follow though? Family is family, even though we all know that everyone has to adjust when marriage happens, no one should have to feel like they don't matter anymore to their family because someone got married.

Some part of her brother does belong to her, so she can make demands and actually expect that they be met(reasonable demands ofcourse) and it shouldn't breed friction if the husband and wife are nice/reasonable. Even if he likes let him be making 100 naira a month, he owes her something but then, not everyone understands family/loyaty.

Oh so you know good Christians?

How come the Christian way of life was just evil to you few comments ago?
And Why did you assume I was Christian if not your natural bias?
What if I'm not?

Are you at some point in your life going to start reasoning before you talk?

Questions for you to ponder on. If you can.

uplawal:
you dnt have to know what i will do to help her, even if i cant help her,God will direct some other people to help her,and that should not stop me from encouraging her situation in words, good words heal broken souls,i have christians that are good, that have even helped me in life, its an individual thing when it comes to christianity, its not an insult to christianity either, i only said that because only christians, not all,but most will think the way most devilish women are thinking on this thread,a muslim will never think that way because its a major sin, hope you can distinguish btw major sins form minor sins, this one the brothere and wife are doing can actually land them in hellfire,so take heed.

I cant believe men with great minds like this still exist.may God bless you with a good wife when the time comes.
I've an assignment for you. Stop. Take a deep breathe. And ask yourself how your comment is helping the OP.

The fact that people like me advice her to stop looking up to her brother and try for herself doesn't mean we think he shouldn't help her.
Yes he should.
How about in this situation that he isn't doing it? What's a better advice than encouraging her to see herself capable than dependent?

Does your ranting against his wife and other posters help her? Instead of giving her constructive advice like things she can do to get by, you're indulging her in the pity party that she's been looking all year long.
Ask yourself again if after instigating her to hate the sister-in-law more, you'll be there to give her actual practical physical support that she needs when they get more and more alienated from her brother due to her attitude towards his wife (read her past posts).

Meanwhile you call yourself a good person. Taking the liberty to insult all the Christains on this thread by saying our way of life is evil. What have you done as a good Muslim to help her now?

You're even judging people you don't know. Maybe we should all call our brothers and sisters-in-law to come show you how our husbands have been helping them before you know you're not the only 'good' wife on this thread. Right? Madam good woman.

What's my business with your family?
bekpo:
It's saddened when such comments r duled out in situations like this. Most of us that had put on this shoe, we know what it means. However I love my wife and or however money I spend on my wedding, it cannot and can never set me against my family. Except I purposely refused to do it. I am the man of the house and u r not married only to me but my family. It will b a thing of joy for me to see my siblings progressing in life courtesy of me, after all the woman never know how we started.
My candid advice to u is simple, I may know u where not raised in a hard way, but u must adjust, go get a legitimate work and do, do it with the heart that u r responsible for ur self and if u fail, u fail ur self. Determined to succeed and u will succeed. I was once in ur shoe but I never gave up. But today I can confirm to u that I am a legal practitioner. I could remember vividly those period I will buy digestive biscuit of 5 naira ate it and am off to the class for TDD. But today am successful. I know u shall succeed as well. Cheers good luck.

Family › Re: My Brother Will Make Me Cry To My Dead Parents Against Him by cococandy(f): 10:02pm On Jul 08, 2016
When someone gets married, their immediate family comes first then brothers and sisters come second.

When you act towards the wife or husband as if they've come to take something that belongs to you, it will breed friction. Your comments about your brother's wife since he got married shows you think that you guys should come first before her.
Sorry it doesn't work that way.

On the chance that your brother is really uncaring like you've painted, you have no choice than to fend for yourself.
If you didn't have him what would you do? See it as your cross and bear it.

Yes your brother was pulled from private school because your elder brother now has more responsibilities. You're in Nigeria. You've the seen the hard economic situation. When there's more responsibility than money coming in, everyone has to adjust. If he kept your brother in private school, where will the money to take care of his new duties as a husband come from? You may not even know how much money he makes. Don't assume.

I believe members of this forum have adviced you enough. You can't keep lamenting from year to year. At some point you'll have to pick yourself up and realize you're the only one you have. Goodluck to you.

Even subsidised schooling in Lagos can't be covered by that minim wage. One taxi man told me his boys had to pay N5000 for something about their result and the next term. I think it was some new scratchcard. And that was a school in Ilasamaja
Minimum wage is a joke.

Honestly. I wonder if those responsible for fixing such things ever think about it. Something that can't even buy you a bag of rice in the present economic conditions.

Lord have mercy.
Family › Re: The Family Section Fun Room!! by cococandy(f): 2:03pm On Jul 08, 2016
That's what I thought at first but then you have to factor the minimum wage in Nigeria which is 18,000 and then you see it's expensive by Nigerian standards.

If I was to send my kid from here to school at home, I wouldn't consider it expensive because when you make the money in dollars and convert it to naira, it doesn't bite as much. Say $4K a year going by the current exchange rates. That's a real steal.

But For a Nigerian being paid in naira, it's expensive.

EfemenaXY:
Lol Onegai!! cheesy

N1m a YEAR, not term oh, is perfectly "affordable" na.

The ongoing rate per term for the average private nursery here is about £4k per term (N1.8m) or £12k annually (N5.4m) inclusive of lunch, but exclusive of school uniforms / sporting kit, outdoor school trips, instrumental music lessons, etc.

So yeah, you guys have got a very good deal on your hands. smiley

Me advice who?

What can I possibly say that will make their situation better?

I can't fail to note though how easy it is for him and his bro in law to plan the abortion of a child. Yet they'll be the first to insult ladies who do it.
If This OP wants to marry tomorrow, he will have the guts to want a girl who's never had an abortion. Bunch of hypocrites.

Prettiepearlz:
You are all at fault now the victim here is your elder sister. You started it Bro, although for your brother in law to have accepted means he get his own for body but you opened his eyes to a world of infidelity and then you introduced your in law to your ex and left them alone. Now the silly girl took advantage of an American based man and got pregnant for him now you have given your sister a rival. What were you thinking giving that kind of advice to your sister's husband? Now you're angry with your in law now because the victim is your sister. You even went far as suggesting abortion, na wa ooooooooo, you also called her a Gold digger, remember she is someone's sister too and you're all about protecting your sister forgetting she is someone's daughter. The best thing to do now is tell your sister the whole truth so that she will stop blackmailing your family. But you need to also find out if that pregnancy is your brother in law's baby. This case is serious ooooooooo, Aunty Cococandy, your advice is needed here ooooooo. I just pity your sister in this whole matter, her whole life is about to change.
