MasterJayJay: I thought as much. How can a small dam make River Niger and River Benue to overflow?
What are the records of the average depth of River Niger and River Benue for the last 50 years? Would dredging minimize the flood?
Many areas have never experienced this kind of flooding..
The government is still clueless on the major factors that led to the floods.
I am not convinced the Minister knows what he's saying. The flood is well above what normal rainfall and swelling of rivers will cause. This flood is due to sudden, abnormal release of water from somewhere.
immortalcrown: Why can't apprentices do such things without louding it?
A similar situation happened in Onitsha and the boss wanted the whole money. The boss said he is entitled to the whole money because the apprentice used his (boss's money) to play the bet. Meanwhile, the apprentice used his lunch money for the bet as his boss gave him 300 Naira daily for lunch. I don't know how they settled it.
I am not in support of the boss's claim. But let us be factual and logical here. It is best to keep such as a secret. If you as an apprentice expose such, the boss can claim the money. He can even win in a law court because the apprentice is his responsibility and the apprentice is obligated to dedicate all his time to serving the boss during the apprentiship period, especially if the boss takes the boy to shop and gives him lunch from home. If the boss gives the boy transport fare or money for lunch, the court can establish that the boy owns the bet money because the boy has the right to decide whether to starve himself and spend his lunch money on something else. If the boy does not get transport fare and lunch allowance, the court will establish that the capital used for the bet belongs to the boss, therefore the boss will get the money won from the betting.
If the apprentice dies during the apprentiship period, the boss would be held responsible. This is why whatever the apprentice achieves under the boss is accredited to the boss.
So, if you are an apprentice and you play bet or anything for yourself, keep it as a secret. Your boss owns you when you are under him. So, use your brain.
Which law makes the apprentice subservient to the boss? Apprenticeship is a personal contract. There is no law covering it.
You say that in a sarcastic tone! Tolling is an undeniable way to improve/extend the life of roads in the Nigeria. We need to stop living under the illusion that Nigeria is a rich country. Yes things could be better if corruption were nipped in the bud, but that is our reality and because of it and for other reasons we are a poor country.
We are a country where majority don't pay direct tax, so the best way is to pay indirect tax for specific areas of the economy like tolling roads. Its not like people are travelling every single day.
I'd rather pay a toll for a smooth road than not pay for a crappy road.
CeeJeckydivah: I no dey hear say woman dey die under man o. Na man dey always die untop woman.
Cos we are the ones who will take drugs for super hard dick.
And we are usually the ones pumping hard. Double wahala for those with high BP or heart problems. Sometimes the men don't even know they have those underlying conditions.
LadyExcellency: Peter Obi is the man for the moment. He is the most favored among the intellectuals and technocrats including the diaspora.
I am yet to understand why the two major political parties in Nigeria are banking on the ignorant and nonchalant voters to win elections just because they can easily be bought with money after forcing man-made starvation and poverty on them.
The reality is that the ignorant and illiterate are far more than the technocrats.
ArewaNorth: What do u understand by monopoly or is it that u are too dogmatic to know that your family can also do what Dangote is doing? Ha BUA also got monopoly?
Don't mind them! There is BUA and also Lafarge!
Dangote had 61%production. How is that a monopoly?
The decision to suspend operations on that rail line till all kidnapped victims were released was actually a dumb move!! So what if this situation had turned to a Chibok girls kind of situation? Are you saying a rail line we borrowed money to build would be fallow for 5years?
When Al Qaeda bombed twin towers, did flights stop until Osama was killed?
When trains in London were bombed, did train services suspend till the found who did it?
I know many people here will come after me, but that's why they can't be leaders and I can. Too many Nigerians are ruled by sentiment and not logic and firm beliefs.
That why Nigerian leaders can't take the hard decisions such as petrol subsidy removal, autonomy for universities, electricity subsidy removal, privatisation of airports, tolling of roads and sacking of unproductive civil servants etc and face their decisions squarely.
For eg if I were President, my policy would be no negotiation with terrorists and all kidnappers must be pursued immediately with a mandate to attack the kidnappers. Now that doesn't mean we will just go in guns blazing. Special forces can be on their tail for days, but strategising how best to minimise collateral damage, but attack they must.
It signifies to kidnappers that they are sure to die. After like 5 kidnapping groups try at and they all perish, others will decide its not worth it. While some citizens may day in the rescue missions, but once the every other group sees that's its certain death and they don't bother kidnapping, the rsst of Nigerians will be far safer.
If a group of kidnappers know that having human shield will not protect them, they will stop.
Again people will say I'm callous. What it it were my brother or sister. Fine I agree, but look at what Nigeria has become over last 10years! Travel by road problem, travel by boat problem, go to your farm problem, go for burial for east, problem. What life are we living!?
Retail can be a difficult business to manage and margins are not particularly high. With poor project execution discipline of Nigerian companies, I am not convinced that this is a good deal.
Why not leave retail for individuals and other companies to manage and do bigger projects that only a company with that size can do.
For eg as part of its energy transition, a 500MW solar plant with battery back up for grid stability in say Nasarawa state would be a game changer.
press9jatv: This is real gym with certified instructors not remote control projected bicycle. Atiku is physically fit for the campaign and the presidential poll too.
. Interestingly these pictures also came out just before the last General election.
COMPAQ: The Army and Police are their own problem. They still do not comport themselves like serious people. Any army/police personnel on the South East in particular should be in a state of chronic unease at all times and ready to defend himself at all times.
Despite all the attacks on police stations, I went into a police station recently for a road traffic incident and the gate was open, no security at the gate, the policemen in the compound we all concentrated at one spot gisting, even backing the entrance. If I had an AK47, I would have gunned them all down at one go.
I've seen Keanu Reeves training for John Wick movie handle a machine gun better than our army and policemen. What a shame that they are so easily manhandled.

Elmojiid: That means no be Jeff get problem be that ..wetin she wants now so confused set awon future is....
Don’t be shallow. The problem was Jeff Bezos. Jess Jeff had been having an affair with some other woman Lauren Sanchez. The fact that this lady remarried and has divorce again doesn’t mean she was at fault for the first time.
The problem with Ports, Train stations, airports etc in Nigeria is that they are not being run as commercial enterprises. They depend on govt for alaries, so they don't push for business.
If Calabar port workers salaries were dependent on the revenue they make, they will be more up and doing. If I was the MD of Calabar port, I would visit Aba, Onitsha and Nnewi markets as well as other major markets in the axis to market for business. All importers need to do is o make Calabar thir port of destination. i will also speak to the FG and Cross River/Akwa Ibom State governments to dualize the road from Calabar to Port Harcourt ( Eket junction to Port Harcourt is already dualized) for cargo evacuation.
This applies tp PH port too by the way.
if I were Peter Obi or the incoming President, part of my policy objectives would be to convert a number of government parastatals to independent, self sustaining Limited Liability Companies lile NNPC Ltd, wherein salaries are only paid from revenues and not from government purse. No revenue, no salaries shikena. Among the companies to be incorporated and commercialized would be.
Nigerian Railway Corporation Nigerian Ports Authority - each individual port should be a company on its own International Airports Nigerian Television Authority (If Channels and TVC are surviving on their own, why not NTA) Nigerian Radio Corporation
Very good deal! In Lekki markets like Jakande, the biggest of the yams in the picture will be like N1,200. Unless its come down a bit now because Yam dey market. This was like 2 months ago.
TrackerXL: They should carry their bike to Anamabra or Adamawa n vote the candidate from that state n not vote candidate from Lagos. Abi how you check am
90% of okada riders in Lagos are from the north. They refuse to go to school or learn serious work. As usual, it's only the lazy work they seem to like to do. Work that gives them N3000 gain daily that they can use to eat, smoke and sleep with equally filthy street oloshos.
While everyone is entitled to live a decent life, but you cannot do that outside the confines of law and at great inconvenience to everyone else!!
If they refuse to go to school and learn a proper trade, the they need to abide by the consequences of those decisions.
Most of the shanties in Lagos are also these same northerners. if you go to twin waters area of Lekki, Agege axis, Ajah, its there same illiterate notherners that have most of the shanties.
Prestar: The Lagos State Taskforce said it has impounded 150 commercial motorcycles, whose riders violated the ban on their activities in Lagos metropolis.
It also said 10 suspects including okada passengers and motorists who flouted the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) corridor were equally arrested and charged to court.
The agency revealed this in a statement released yesterday by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem.
Abdulraheem said the chairman of the taskforce, CSP Shola Jejeloye, has vowed to go after recalcitrant land grabbers, commercial motorcyclists and other environmental law breakers who have refused to heed warnings by the government to discontinue their illegal activities.
He said Jejeloye expressed displeasure at the regrouping of commercial motorcycles which were noticed in raided areas, adding that the enforcement would continue as the need arises.
Good job!! These okada riders need to be made aware that unlike previous times where after a few weeks they come back to the road, that this time they are not welcome back at all!! We really need discipline in this country! We cant move forward when citizens just operate anyhow!
I took my first train ride ever in Nigeria from Lagos to Ibadan a few days ago, omo while the station and train are fine, you need to come and see how people have taken over some of the tracks in the Agege, Agbado train stations. Filth everywhere, shanties along the train tracks, trading on the tracks etc
If you send them packing now, you will here govt should provide a place for them. HOW IS TRAIN TRACKS A MARKET PLACE!!??
We have many problems in this country and basic indiscipline in one of them!!!
MonsieurX: While she isn't as pretty as Nicki (facially), she has a point cos Nicki Minaj's body is fake and if Nicki maintained her normal body under the same conditions, most guys would go for Anita on the basis of voluptuousness alone.
Let's appreciate our African women and that natural shape they have o. Oyinbo don slice their body finish just to look like them.
Please, can I see the 2000 and 2022 picture of Toke Makinwa!!
Glance: Vehicles loaded with ammunition and IED’s intercepted in Ikorodu, Lagos
Two vehicles fully loaded with ammunition, guns and IED’s were discovered in a scrapyard within an Estate along Itamaga-Ijede road, Ikorodu.
Eyewitness reports stated that the scrapyard within Powerline Unity Estate Poromope, Idiroko belongs to a group of Hausa men who have been operating the yard for a while.
Ikorodu seems to have become the base for criminals these days. And I can imagine why. Being a border town it's easy for it to be a staging post for stuff that is ultimately heading to the North or East and vice versa. Also not being in core lagos, its not as well policed.
